You could tell I needed a break, because I rushed the last chapter. Some things were missing, but some of the things someone said were missing, weren't. I checked. -_- More on that down below. For now, enjoy this chapter. It should be way better than the last one.

PS. About the demon from the last chapter. 3,000 years is a very long time. History is lost easily around then, so that is the real reason there is not much info as to why Merlin sealed the demon away, but I can say it here. The reason the demon was sealed instead of killed it because of the souls it consumed. Think of it like Alucard from Hellsing. That is how Harry "killed" the thing. He stole its soul. The demon was able to get out of the seal with the help of the souls it had, but it lost a good chunk of them. With there being little to no dementors now, it could not regain its full strength. I hope that fills in some of the blanks about the history of the dementor creating demon.

Now enjoy the chapter! ^-^

In a flash of flames, Harry and Fawkes appear on the island. It is here that they feel a familiar dark magic energy in the air, but they can't remember where they felt it. What they do know is that is wasn't Voldemort - thank Merlin for that.

{That energy doesn't feel evil. It kind of reminds me of you with your Master of Death magic,} said Fawkes.

Harry pulls his cloak out of his pocket while he replies, "As long as they aren't evil, I don't believe we have to worry about it. At least not yet."

{After this first trial, would you like to go look for the owner of that magic?} At this point Harry already has his cloak covering his head.

{I would like to. I can't help but feel that they may need help. Speaking of feelings: are you feeling like something is coming? Something dangerous?} Harry questioned in his mind this time.

{No, you're not the only one,} Fawkes said while shaking his head from side to side. {I don't know what it is, either, but I do hope that we are not here when it does come.} Harry nods his head in agreement.

{Let's just start searching for the hidden path. The sooner we get these trials done the sooner we can leave,} he said determinedly, and with that same boost of motive turns around to see what there is around them.

All round him are caves with letters floating above them. He counted 8 of them, so knowing what the hidden pathway looks like won't be a problem. He sees more rocks and bushes all round, but he gets the feeling that the path he is looking for is going to be a trial all on its own.

'Well it is hidden. So the chances are it is blocked by something. Maybe one of those bushes or even boulders are sitting in front of it,' Harry thought. With this mind, he walks over to the bushes and rocks near the cliff walls.

Just as Harry got to the bushes to start pushing aside he pauses when he hears Natsu's voice. He looks over in the direction to see the dragon slayer and his partner Happy showing their joy at being at the very least, second one on the island.

"Hey, I wonder where Harry is." Natsu questioned after he saw the paths are all still open.

"Maybe he's still looking for the hidden path." Happy said.

"Well I doubt that path would have Erza in it. Check that out!" Natsu points over to the cave with the letter E above it. "That E has to stand for Erza. If we go down this path, I'm sure we'll find her!"

"Great idea, Natsu!" Happy cheered in agreement.

{Do you really think Erza is down that way?} Harry asked Fawkes.

{No, it's worse than that. Gildarts is the one hiding out in that cave.}

Harry had to cover his mouth to hide the sound of his mirth. {I am so not warning them. The sad part about it is that I will not be able to see the looks on their faces when they find out. I can just picture it. They will be horrified at first, but then Natsu will get his spirit back and try to beat Gildarts only to end in failure,} Harry said while still trying to hold in his laughter. It became much harder at the mental image he formed of Natsu and Happy's faces when they lay eyes on who their opponent will be.

Harry looks back up to see that Natsu and Happy have already gone down the E path. Well, with them gone, Harry can continue his search for the hidden path.

~Ten minutes later~

Harry had yet to find the hidden path, but about ten minutes ago, Freed and Bickslow showed up, making Harry having to stop again so they wouldn't find out where he is looking for the hidden path. He doesn't need them looking on the other side for it and finding it before he does. The two go down a path, which like Natsu's became blocked off by a barrier. The reason Harry is being quiet about his search is so the others will think it has already been found, so they will ignore it and go down a different path.

After the minutes had ticked by after that, Harry started to worry for the others that have yet to show up. He pauses in his search again to look at the ship. It's still there, but what is that around it? Whatever it was, it popped before he could figure it out. He could have sworn he heard the competitors and their partners all say finally before jumping off and leaving the ship.

Harry didn't start up his search until everyone else got to the island and into a path. The first to show were Mest and Wendy, then from there are Juvia and Lisanna, who Harry is still grateful to see is alright for his girlfriend's sake, Elfman and Evergreen, Levy and Gajeel - that pair surprised him when he found out, but not as much as Elfman and Evergreen - Gray and Loki, and Cana and Lucy. They may not have come in that order, but some of them did show up around the same time. They all didn't bother with the hidden path. They were late so decided to just charge into the nearest path. With all the paths taken up, Harry can take off his cloak and continue his search without farther disruptions.

He could not find the path by the walls so Fawkes suggested looking at the ground. There was one pile of rocks that looked a little out of place, so he went there after checking under some bushes and moving boulders with magic to see if there was anything there. He makes his way to the pile on the ground. Once in front of it, he points his wand and casts, "Defodio..." The rocks cleared away, revealing the path hidden underneath.

Harry looks down to see that the path is steep, so he'll have to slid down it and see where he ends up at the bottom.

{Meet you down there!} Fawkes said like a child at a park. He hops off Harry's shoulder and dives down the hole in the ground. Harry shook his head in fondness, but follows after his bird friend. He slid for about 20 seconds before he came to a stop. It is surprisingly bright down here, but Harry wasn't going to complain. Fawkes lands on his shoulder once more. {That was fun, but it ended too soon,} he said in slight disappointment. If he could pout, Harry is sure it would be there.

Harry shakes his head again, but this time he let out a small laugh. "Let's see where this leads," said Harry as he walks through the pathway.

After about five minutes of walking and nothing happening, Harry asks, "Hey Fawkes, you feel anything?"

Fawkes shakes his head. {No, it's weird. It is like whatever is in this cave is messing with me.}

"You think it is what is making it bright in here?"

{It could be the magic brightening up the path, or the magic in the island,} Fawkes said with a nod of his feathery head. {That must be it. This whole island is so full of magic that it dwarfs the Tower of Heaven.}

"You just reminded me of something. I've been meaning to ask this, but how come your senses get thrown out of wack in places like this, but not in the Fairy Tail guild hall?" Harry asked.

{It's not the magic in the air that gets me; it's the magic within everything in the surrounding area.} Harry is confused. What did Fawkes mean by that? Fawkes shakes his head like he couldn't believe Harry is this slow. {At the Fairy Tail guild hall, there is magic in the air, but not the building itself. It has only been there for about 100 years with some of the halls having to be rebuilt. This stopped the magic from flowing into the building and making to come alive. This island, however, has been here much longer than that. This place it pouring with magic, mostly coming from that giant tree. Thanks to the magic it collected throughout the years it became what it is today. They weren't kidding about this island being holy ground. It is a magic hot spot.}

"How did it collect the magic into itself, but not places like the guild halls?"

{This island was made by natural magic. The magic within the air, sea, and stone are the foundation for this island's creation. This allowed the tree you see to grow so big, for magic to be pouring off of it, and is what protects Fairy Tail members from harm. It does this because of the respect Fairy Tail gives it. That and for seeing this island as a second home.}

"Okay, that makes sense, but what about the Tower of Heaven? That was created by humans."

{Created by humans with a touch of life, death, and corruption magic. The corruption is what also throws me in for a loop.}

"Oh, I see. Okay just one more question. What about Hogwarts?"

{It may have been created by humans, but the ground it stands on, as well as the forest surrounding it, is full of magic. After having to not be rebuilt for the past thousand years, it became alive. I was able to find you and others easy still because of Dumbledore. That man, thanks to being the headmaster of the school, was connected to the wards, allowing him to know where everyone in the school is and if they are hurt. Although, sometimes I believe he was losing his touch. He should have known about Riddle's book back in your second year, but didn't do anything about it,} Fawkes said the last part more to himself than to Harry.

Harry now understands what is truly throwing Fawkes off his game, but then how did he feel that dark magic and Gildarts?

{It was death magic. Since I'm a phoenix, which is a life magical being, can sense that kind of thing no matter where we are. As for Gildarts, I was able to sense him thanks to the strength of his magic.}

"Then how come you couldn't find me in the Tower of Heaven?"

Fawkes just gave him a look. {Did you forget me saying that there was death and life magic being used to power up that tower? I couldn't tell where you were thanks to all the death magic in the walls!} Harry blushed, he did forget that. With a shake of his head, he looks ahead, only to stop when he sees a sign next to an entrance full of darkness. He couldn't see anything going on inside. It is like the blackness is smog cloaking the air in the room.

"I was starting the think this path was quiet, but it seems there is some kind of test here after all," said Harry in some form of relief. He walks up to the sign and begins to read it.

Through the maze of darkness where no light can shed you shall go. In the end there are two. Two exits that can lead to safety while the other can lead to an unwelcome surprise. Beware the dark lingerers, for they bring harm.

Harry is curious about this weird riddle. The first part makes it sound like he can't bring a light in with him, but he is going to try anyway. There are two ways out of this maze, but only one has something in it that he might have to fight. He hopes that it won't be cloaked in whatever darkness this is in the maze. He doesn't want to fight blind. Then again...he might have to anyway, because in the maze there are things that can harm him. With a sigh, Harry casts the lighting charm and sticks the wand through the entrance. What happened next made Harry's face form into something funny. It is the face of are-you-kidding-me? The glow of the light only goes as far as two feet.

{Well, light really can't be shed in this place, can it? You might as well be going in blind,} said Fawkes.

Harry nods his head in agreement. "I'm still keeping the light on. I'll just stick close to the wall." Fawkes shows his agreement to this plan as well.

{Good idea, but try not to get lost.}

Harry doesn't answer to Fawkes' taunt. He walks over to the left side of the starting point of the maze and begins to walk. After about ten steps, there is a left turn, but he can see that there is a right turn as well, just barely. He decides to stay with the left wall and so goes down the left path. He took about 15 steps this time before he had to take a right turn. Another 10 step leads to another right and left path. Again, Harry goes left. 5 steps leads Harry to yet another right and left path. He sticks to the wall and goes left.

{I hope we are not going to come full circle,} Fawkes said. Harry was about to comment, but he heard a sound ahead.

{I think you might have spoken too soon. We didn't go full circle - I think - but we did run into something,} said Harry.

Whatever is making the quick, yet quiet sound shows itself in the light of Harry's wand. The creatures are deadly bugs. Harry urgently shouts, "Flame them Fawkes!" Fawkes didn't hesitate with his orders. He sent out of fire breath killing the bugs crawling on the ground, walls, and ceiling. Once they are all gone, Harry rubs his arms to try and get rid of the creepy crawly feeling. Spiders he can handle, but whatever those were had double the amount of legs, which were also longer and sharper looking, and thin, long bodies. They looked like a mix of a mosquito without wings, spider, and centipede. There is just so many levels of NO!

Harry recovered from seeing those things in the creepy, dark cave/maze, and continues walking; however, he is met with a dead end.

{I killed those thinks for nothing?} Fawkes said irritably.

{Think of it this way, we won't have to worry about them later,} said Harry, who walks over to the other side of the path, and sticks to that. He passes the way he came, but this time going straight, which would have been his right if he didn't go down the left way and run into those bugs. With 10 more steps he is forces to take a right, but something drops on his head. It cracks on the ground, showing itself to be a small, tiny rock, but why did it come loose?

Harry and Fawkes look up, but don't see anything, so Harry lifts his wand up a little higher. There on the ceiling is a large lizard with six legs and long, spiky tail. The color of its scales make it look poisonous. It is blue with green spots and stripes. It looks down at Harry, doing nothing but stare, but then it lets out an ear slitting roar. Harry this time kills the thing with the killing curse. After the flash of green light to match his eyes, it became dark and quiet again with only the sound of the lizard's body hitting the ground and Harry's breathing.

{You okay, Harry?}

{Yeah...my ear are just ringing still.}

{That was the first time you cast the killing cures. How do you feel?}

{Sad. I don't think I had to kill that lizard, but where we are I don't think I had much of a choice.}

{You would be right. With how small these paths are and with that thing getting the jump on us, we couldn't risk fighting or else the walls could have caved in on us.}

Harry sighs, "Let's just keep moving and hope we don't run into any more animals. I really don't want to kill any more of them within their own home." Fawkes nods his head in agreement, but Harry couldn't see it. He lights the tip of his wand again and moves on past the body of the lizard.

After making 25 steps away from the dead lizard, he comes across a forced left, which then turns into another left a step after, and which leads to yet another animal. This one is sleeping upside down. Harry at first couldn't tell what it is, but Fawkes could.

{Turn off the light.} Harry does as Fawkes ordered.

{What is it?}

{It's a giant bat. Just stay with the wall and you should be fine.} Harry places his hand on the rough wall of the path he's in and follows it. There is another left so he takes it, once he feels another left, he turns the light back on, and then takes it. After two more left turns he finds a ladder leading up.

{Just the place I'm looking for. Since we slid down here, we need to make our way back up to the surface,} said Harry gratefully.

{I guess it was a good thing we didn't take the right then,} said Fawkes. Harry smiles, believing that this will lead him to safety, so he puts his lit wand into his mouth, and then climb up the rock ladder. When he came out of the floor he finds himself in a room with a glowing, blue pool of water. The pool should really be called a lake, however, because of its size. On the other side of the room is a doorway. Harry makes his way over to it, but just as he was going to go through it, he crashes into an invisible barrier.

Bouncing off the barrier hurt Harry's face thank to walking into it face first. He lifts his hand to his nose to check it, but luckily it is fine, just sore. He turns his focus on the barrier and wonders why he can't get through it; he never noticed the sound of the lake moving, but Fawkes did.

{HARRY WATCH OUT!} Harry looks behind him toward the lake to see what has Fawkes in a panic, but before he could see it, something slams into his side, sending him soaring through the air and into a rocky wall. Harry was able to force himself back up with only a groan of pain, and take another look by the lake. There, in the water is a giant sea serpent-like monster with arms, which is baring its teeth at him.

"How did I not hear that coming out of the water?" Harry asked more to himself than Fawkes; alas, there is no time with getting an answer. Not like he would have gotten one anyway. Harry had to dive out of the way of another swipe of the sea monster's fined talons, and roll so he can recover his balance and get back onto his feet.

Harry brought out his firebolt, hops on it, and takes to the air just in the nick of time to dodge a ball of high pressured water. Where Harry once stood is now cracked like a spider web.

"That was close," said Harry with nervous sweat drops. "Now where did Fawkes go?" Harry kept one eyes on the monster while trying to find his familiar. Out of the corner of his eye he saw a red blur flying somewhere on the other side of the monster. {Hey Fawkes, you okay?} he asked.

{Yeah I'm fine. I was able to get away before it could hit us,} said Fawkes.

{You couldn't -} Harry didn't get the chance to finish what he was about to say, because the monster was shooting water bullets at him like it's mouth is a mini-gun. {You couldn't have taken me with you?} This time Harry finished.

{I wouldn't have been able to dodge in time.}

{If you had teleported you would have!}

{That's the thing! I can't teleport in here!} Fawkes shouts in Harry's head, while also dodging a sea of bullets.

{How come?} Harry asked in both irritation and genuine curiosity.

{I think it has something to do that those barriers. When we came in here, the hole became blocked to us. We can't leave this room until we defeat this thing,} Fawkes explained while the two fly in circles around the sea monster.

{Alright, we'll have to knock this monster out then,} said Harry, who points the elder wand at the creature and cast the stunning spell at it. The red beam of magic hits the monster, but all it did was confuse the water being, if that is what the head tilt means. "Looks like a water dragon, has scales like one. Figures," Harry said with little to no amusement.

{Harry, your luck was never that good,} Fawkes teased his wizard, earning him a glared from said wizard. The phoenix trilled a laugh at it, feeling no intimidation from the heat of the death stare.

Narrowly, Harry missed being hit by the sea monster grabbing him, and then most likely being thrown into the water. The claws did hit the bristles on the broom, which sends Harry into somewhat of a spin, but he was able to recover in time before crashing into the blue-tinted, gray walls. While in the spin, Harry did see something on the ceiling of the cave room they are in that could help him win this fight.

Harry sends an exploding curse at a stalactite hanging from the roof of the room, knocking it down toward the monster. The creature smacked the falling bit of rock with one of its arms, but it was a good distraction, even if it wasn't meant to be one. From behind, Fawkes - while in flame form the same size as the monster - tackled the monster to the grown, or at least that was the plan. The monster fell fully into the water, taking Fawkes with it.

Fawkes lets out a screech of pain, not liking the cold water. He drops his form, and fly away from the water, but now it is hard for Harry to see what he is fighting due to all the steam cloaking the air.

'Well, if I can't see it, then it can't see me either,' Harry thought. He goes up to the stalactites, getting ready to send one down. The one he is floating next to has a blunt point, so it won't kill the creature, but it should knock it out if it lands on its head.

Harry casts a small explosion at the water, letting the monster know where he is. The sea creature jumps out of the water with its mouth open. Harry cursed, he can't send the rock at the thing's head if its mouth is open, it would kill it.

Before the monster could reach him, however, a ball of fire hits it from the side. It roars in pain, and turns to see what attacked it. This is Harry's chance. With a cutting curse at the base of the stalactite, Harry watches the rock's blunt point fall right for the monster's head. Said monster was about to send a huge ball of high pressured water at the phoenix, so it didn't notice the danger. Just as the monster fired its attack, the stalactite lands heavily on its head, causing it to become extremely dizzy and off balance.

The monster's attack hits Fawkes, causing him fall from the air. He is shortly followed by the monster. Harry shoots off to catch his familiar, thanking his godfather again for such an awesome and fast broom.

Harry was able to catch the phoenix before he fell into the water. The monster wasn't so lucky. It fell with only half of its body in the water while the top half is out on the cold, hard ground, and pointing its face toward the closed exit. Harry lands back on the floor, and check on Fawkes.

"Are you okay?" Harry asked worriedly.

{Y-yeah...Just a bit disoriented is all,} Fawkes said while seeing invisible stars floating around his head.

Harry chuckles in relief, and then looks over to see the barrier fall. "Well, it looks like we can leave now since the monster is out cold," he said. Fawkes only lets out a small chirp in joy. He wants out of this room.

Harry sends his broom back where he took it from, and while carrying Fawkes leaves the room with the sea monster behind.

TBC

I was going to have the monster killed, but I couldn't do that to Harry. He is just not the killing type. Neither am I, but...you get the idea.

Now I'm going to point out a review from my last update. To the guest - Matt: I'm only going to say this, I did include Lucy. She is Cana's partner. If that is not what you meant then I'll remind you that only Harry really knows about Lucy's real power, no one else. So she is still a partner in this. In this chapter, you can see that I left out the info on partnership on purpose. I didn't think I had to put that in since everybody should already know who is going with who. Either way, everyone and their partners were mentioned in this chapter, so don't say I didn't do something. I didn't want to bother with showing how their partners were picked or whatever, because I didn't see the importance of it. Harry is the center of this fanfic, so he wouldn't know that Cana plans on leaving if she doesn't become an S-Class mage. That is all I'm going to say.

Harry: People would be much happier if they stopped nitpicking at everything little thing. -_-

Zeref: Yeah, if they don't like it, then why don't they write their own stories and prove they can be better?

Voldy: Probably because they can't. Think about it. All those that say trash are all those that don't write themselves. So in the end, it makes them sound incompetent.

Enj/Dark: Low blow, Voldemort. That was not necessary.

Harry: He does have a point though, even if it was harsh.

Natsu: Did you just agree with your number 1 enemy?

Voldy: I'm impressed... He did.

Zeref: I have to agree too. If they want to show criticism, then they need to show that they can be better writers than the one they are flaming. None of them have stories of their own, so none of what they are saying is backed up. They are like...Umm...what's his name?

Harry: Draco Malfoy?

Zeref: Yeah, that's it!

Enj/Dark: So what you're saying is that they are arrogant little brats that act like they are five years old?

Voldy: That is exactly what he is saying.

Enj/Dark: I don't mind people helping and bringing up concerns with me, but to those that say they hate something for something that didn't go the way they want it are the ones that should just write their own stories then. That is why I started. I wanted something else to happen, but it didn't, but did I flame the author for it? No. Their story is good; it is just not for me. End of story.

Voldy: I get the feeling you haven't snapped quite yet, am I right?

Harry: This is her not snapping? :/

Enj/Dark: No, I'm just irritated. Why should I allow this to truly bother me? They are all bark and no bite. They have nothing to prove, and the only one that did, was throwing death threats at me. So why should I listen to a psychopath? :)

Natsu: Good point. Your death threats are a lot worse anyway.

Enj/Dark: Not like I would go through with it. *eye roll* Zeff, it's your turn.

Zeref: Please review, no flaming.

Enj/Dark: Or I block you and report.

Harry: She is getting tired of it.

Voldy: I just want to see her lose it. }:)

Everyone: You would.
