"Erika?! Erika! Are you ok?!" Sabrina crashes through the doors only to see an energetic Erika who woke up and waved happily at the telepath. "Hey Brina! Glad you're ok. That was a good sleep."
'What the...' Sabrina froze while the nature loving princess continued speaking, her Pokemon looking at her as they tried to control their snickering as they see her eyes twitching.
"Were you worried about me? That is cute. I was mmmmphh-" Erika was immediately cut off when Sabrina put a pillow over her face, flailing as the Saffron City gym leader watch with a poker face. 'Give me back my tears, emotions and energy damn it!'
An hour later, Sabrina had to wait outside as Erika had to get a checkup before she entered into the room, seeing the woman sitting up with a serious expression. "Sabrina, what do you think about the Team Rocket attack yesterday?"
"How did you get so serious?" Sabrina deadpanned before she sighed and sit down beside her. "Yeah, I searched the city and they attacked everywhere except one place."
"The red light district…" They both said in unison as Erika looked through the window, seeing Silph Co. in the distance. "How's Celadon?"
"Surprisingly ok. Your little stunt with Victreebel stopped the explosions from levelling the city."
"And the people?"
"A few seriously injured but all of them are ok. Some are still missing. One of them being Leaf Green from Viridian City."
"Yeah. The commissioner isn't going to like that. Knowing Team Rocket, they would use her as leverage to keep the police off their tail." Sabrina folded her arms, looking down on the floor before she notice Erika patting a Bulbasaur while her Vileplume sat at the end of the bed. "How long til you can get out?"
"We don't have a lot going for us but I believe I should be out of the hospital in a few days." Erika responded, looking at her bruised hand as she could barely hold an apple in it. She then patted her back, feeling a slight pain from the area before she leaned back unto the bed with a sigh.
"No. We have ample time. Celadon City will be sanitized of the miasma by tomorrow but it won't be able to be suitable for living conditions until a few weeks from now." Sabrina said, Erika looking out of the window to see Celadon City slightly shrouded in smoke before noticing a grin on the telepath's face. "So why not a little payback?"
"Payback?"
"Yeah, I have a plan." Sabrina said, Erika nodding as she sat up while the woman sit down. "And here's how it goes…"
A few days have passed since the attack on Celadon City, the city now cleansed of the stench and waste created from the Muk being searched from head to toe by police officers. During this, Mr. Green took out a cup of coffee as he came out of the police station, seeing the ruined Celadon Pokemon Center. "This city's gonna need a huge makeover after all this."
He then turned to his group, rubbing his watch and sipping of his tea as he felt the cold silent winds of the usually loud city before he turns to the troops in front of him. "Alright! We're going to make another search again. We have received information from some of our intelligence that there were gang activity in the area so we will have to group this along with the current mission! A-team! Get your suits! We're going to inspect the underground sewers since they are now clean! B-team! Check the northern section of the city where the explosion started. C-team! We will need to check the southern section along with the Celadon Police force!"
"Yes sir!" The officers nodded before they went to their designated area while the man went with the people in A-team into the sewers, putting on a hazmat suit as he and his Medicham joined them in their expedition. "Man. Even after days of being disinfected, this place is still a danger hazard. Did the explosion really cause all this?"
"Well, partially. It was caused by the explosion hitting one of the experimental tanks here."
"Honestly, it's much better than it was a few days ago. So we can get to find more clues now." One of the officers said while traversing the tunnels, Medicham creating a bubble which shielded them from the poisonous air while they turned on their flashlight.
"What the? Are those?" They all looked down, seeing a tank filled with the corpses of Grimer and Muk, some of the officers vomiting at the horrific sight before them. Mr. Green, however, was indifferent as he searches the place until he notices a sign, seeing something written on it which surprises him. "Rare Candy?"
"Rare Candy? I thought those were discontinued since the League changed the rules." One other officer looked at the sign while the others checked around the place. "So that's what it was. They were forcing the Pokemon to evolve…and giving them weapons and armors."
"This…this is inhumane."
Continuing further, the group reached a huge room that was covered in sludge, papers scattered on the ground as they went to investigate, the brown haired man noticing something on the ground. "Charred pieces of a bag strap? Looks like a fight took place here."
"Yeah...a very powerful one." Mr. Green throws away the piece of fabric before seeing bones on the floor, one of them adorning a tattered black cloth that has an 'R' on it. "Team Rocket seemed to be here. And their fate down here was not pretty. Erika was right."
"You still on her case?" An officer chuckled as he took up some of the papers.
"In case you've forgotten, I don't want a repeat of what happened last time with the gym leaders regarding Team Rocket. Also, you need to remember who she's friends with. I can't go against the government but it still baffles me that they let that woman keep her gym leader position."
"He's also still salty over his daughter's loss against her. He was gritting his teeth in the office when he heard about it." The policemen laughed until they realized what they said, looking at Mr. Green who is playing with his watch before they all apologized. "Uhh…sorry, boss."
"It's ok. Let's continue. We'll find her." He sighed, seeing a pool of sludge. "Another dead end..."
Turning around, he commanded the group to gather the papers and diagrams in the room before they leave the place. After taking a break from their expedition, Mr. Green looked to the night sky with a melancholic expression before he sees a policeman coming towards him. "Commissioner, sir. We got some info. Gym leader Sabrina said that the red light district was unscathed during the attack."
"Well, we noticed that when we checked there."
"Yeah but there's more. Along with the gang activity in the district and sightings of Team Rocket there, she saw Cameron there as well along with his sister."
"The Silph Company's heir? Strange."
Why would they be going to the Celadon Casino? There are numerous Casinos and even motels in Saffron. You think they're in cohoots with Team Rocket?"
"Hmm. It's possible." Mr. Green said with a brow raised, putting on his coat as he turns to the direction of the street. "Alright then...we'll be inspecting the red light district again. C'mon, private. Ditch the badges and the uniform."
As he entered the district, the man was awarded with liveliness on the sidewalks while driving towards the huge casino which caught his attention. Getting out of the car, he noticed coins scattered on the floor of the entrance, observing the people that are dancing and playing the casino games as he made his way to the bartender. Noticing a few people staring at him, the man takes his seat with his partner before he orders a Persim cocktail as the janitor nudges him. "Nice to see you again, old timer."
"Sup, Pete? I can't help but drowning in some Persim Cocktail after such a busy week."
"Heh! Glad to hear that, old timer. Still don't know why you won't try our Pecha beer. She's the talk of the bar." The janitor said, ordering one before he spun in his chair and leaned back. Mr. Green smiled, taking a sip of the beverage before he shared a glance with his partner. "I will. I just love my cocktail. But I'll keep that in mind."
Seeing the bartender asking his partner for his order but not getting a response, Mr. Green waved to her before he paid her. "Sorry about my friend here. He's not really the talkative type. Likes being on his phone. Just give the kid some mineral water."
"Gotcha! One cup of mineral water comin' up." She smiled and left as the man took another sip.
"This place is unusually lively. Is it always like this?" Mr. Green said, letting out a chuckle as he watched two drunk men clumsily fight each other before falling on themselves. The janitor shrugged his arms while he drank his cocktail, the commissioner's eyes landed on a familiar blonde man who is sitting on a couch surrounded by women. "Ain't that the Silph Co.'s prince? Cameron right? Wouldn't expect him around these places."
"Same. When he first came to this place, I was scared that it would've been it for the place but turns out, dude's a regular. Always goes around that back door though."
This caught Mr. Green's attention while he dangled the cocktail in his hand, his partner enjoying some mineral water. "Back door?"
"Yeah. Every time he comes here, dude always goes to the back. It's weird because none of us employees ever know what's there."
"Hmm."
"Yeah. Apparently,, he's the one who proposed for this to be separate from the Game Corner to improve our sales or something like that." Mr. Green listened keenly to the bartender's ramblings for hours until the men bid farewell, the two officers stretching themselves as they were hit by the night air. The moment they got into their car, the two drove off slowly. "Did you get the recording?"
"Of course." The officer waved his phone which had a recording file before he pressed a button. "Sent to base."
"Good. Alright, let's get back to the station." As soon as he said that, he noticed someone within one of the alleyway which made him stop his car and chase after them. Mr. Green quickly sent out Stoutland while he pursued the individual throughout the alleyway until he found himself at a dead end, seeing the person going over a fence. Thinking quickly, he commanded Stoutland to grab the person before throwing them into a wall, the person falling to the ground as he noticed the logo on their shirt which he recognized. "I see. To think they would be here."
Noticing the bag, Mr. Green inspected it, his eyes widened when he saw the contents inside. Returning back to his car with the person, Mr. Green gave his Medicham a paper and pencil, the Pokemon drawing something while he drove off. The officer beside him looked back at Medicham see it drawing a map of the district, a certain section of it he has not seen before. "What is this? Also, who is this?"
"A member of the Thunderbolt gang. They're a gang that roam these parts. You won't know of them because they tend to avoid Viridian and Cerulean. Also, I found that place while I was chasing that person. We need to carry him back for questioning."
"Oh. That's...odd. Man, things are just getting worse by the minute."
"Heh. That's not even the worse part."
The officer turned to the commissioner in shock before he uttered his next words. "They are doing illegal shipments. In that bag are Rare Candies, Pokemon drugs. Hell, it's possible that those Pokemon are not even his."
"Damn! The rabbit hole just gets deeper and deeper, huh? Sleepy, get out and eat!" The officer said as he released his Drowzee to have it check the man's memories through his dreams to find any information while they made their way to the police station. "At least we're getting closer to solving this puzzle."
Mr. Green had a huge smile on his face as he gripped the steering wheel and glanced at his watch which did not go unnoticed by his partner. "Hey, man. We're going to find your daughter. She's gonna be one piece."
"Yeah...thanks. This is why I didn't want her going out. I wanted to be safe."
"You did all you could. Plus, she's a strong girl. I'll bet you that she's not gonna give them an easy time. Now let's focus on the inspection but once you reunite with your little girl soon."
Mr. Green let out a chuckle as he reached the police station, taking up the bag and the gang member, the officers in the Celadon Police about to interrogate him until Mr. Green's partner told them to stop. "No need. Sleepy got everything. And it's getting uploaded to your system."
"They are going to have a grand meeting in the south section of Celadon City in a few weeks." Mr. Green stated as they all gathered in the deputy's office. They all took a moment to read "They're having a meeting tonight?!"
"Tonight?! When?" Mr. Green stood up in shock as the officers check the information only to look to the clock, one of them saying. "In five minutes."
"I see. Alright, get ready! We're going out now!" The man immediately ran outside, calling some of the police force as they made their way to the meeting site. Reaching the place, he stopped the police cars some distance back as they all prepared themselves, stealthily making their way to the place through following Stoutland's lead. After a while, they arrived to an open area, Mr. Green noticing a warehouse there with several vehicles at the entrance which surprised the others.
"Aren't those?" One of the officers said, taking out an Umbreon while another sent out an Ariados who surveyed the place.
"Pouchers? What the?" The two watched as trucks came in, cages of bruised and wounded Pokemon being transported as the workers sort out boxes. Seeing this, Mr. Green's partner looked at his phone as he muttered. "They're trafficking Pokemon. It's just like the info said."
Mr. Green frowned as he and Stoutland got ready, taking notice of the logo name on the boxes and cages which is in the shape. After waiting for a few minutes, they noticed a limousine that drove up to the warehouse. A person dressed in a suit emerged from the car, the black hat he is wearing covering most of his face but the most surprising thing about his attire is the Team Rocket Logo present on his suit pocket which made all the officers gasp. The man approached the workers, all of them flinching in fear as they notice the man standing there. "Mr. Boss, sir! Sorry for not noticing you!"
"It's not a problem. How's the products?" The man said, his deep voice making them tremble as they showed him some of the information on the clipboard which the man nodded, the police officers preparing their Pokemon to be in battle position as they wait for Mr. Green to give the signal.
"How long until we can get them over to the hideout?" The boss said, the worker scratching his head and letting out a nervous chuckle. "A day or two. give or take."
Hearing the answer, the man smiling before he turns around and puts his hands behind his back, looking at the cages as they pass by. "Good. For the Pokemon you have found within the city, you can keep them to yourselves."
"Really, sir?!"
"Yes, think of it as an addition to the payment and for being on time despite the...circumstances."
Looking at both the men, the moment their hands intertwined for a handshake, Mr. Green lifted a finger which made the two hands get hit by a ball of webbing which confused them. "What the-"
"Attack!"
Before the two men could do anything, balls of webbing started raining down, hitting everyone and trapping them to the ground and wall. Stuck on the ground, he could only watch as a major battle waged on, the police force taking on the gang members. The rest who tried to run away were swiftly taken out by a blast before the hatted man saw someone walking towards him, knocking out a two guys who tried to intercept him. Seeing the commissioner approaching him, the man smiled. "Greetings sir. Lovely night, isn't it?"
"It is. You all seem to be enjoying the night very well." Mr. Green said as he crouched down to the man's level. "I'm not gonna beat around the bush. Where is my daughter?"
"I do? I do. I'm sorry though, I'm busy and if you interrupt my work. You know what will happen." The man deadpanned, Mr. Green frowning until he snapped his fingers, the man wondering what is happening until he noticed Medicham in one of the alleyways with its eyes glowing. "Ohh. I see what you're trying to do. But don't expect us to be taken down that easily."
"It's too late. Your driver was already taken out."
"Who said I only had the driver?" At that moment, a barrage of shuriken hit Mr. Green, one of them slashing his arm before another barrage hit the Rocket boss, freeing him of his binding as the man dashed away, Mr. Green immediately chasing after him. As the two left the field, the others able to overpower the workers who retaliated until they were taken out quickly. Meanwhile, Mr. Green was still in pursuit of the boss, taking a shortcut before he went to the other side of the alleyway and waited with his Stoutland beside him, only to see smoke coming from the hallway which made him put on a mask and ran into the miasma.
"Damn! Did he go up? I don't see any Flying type Pokemon around and there was no signs of teleportation." Mr. Green grimaced before his Stoutland bolted in the smoke, the man followed behind it. As soon as he heard a yelp, he had Medicham blow away the smoke to reveal Stoutland who is holding the man with its teeth before Mr. Green aims a taser gun to the man's neck. "Freeze! You have the right to remain silent."
"Can't really move since you sic' your Pokemon at me."
"Blame yourself for this." Mr. Green said as he went towards his hat, his body on alert as he checked around the place and nodded to his Pokemon. Before he could touch the boss, the man grinned before he immediately noticed a sea of flames coming towards him which was stopped by Medicham's Psychic. Mr. Green could not get a chance to grab the hatted man who laughed as Stoutland got knocked aside by a barrage of black blades which surprised the brunette. "What?!"
"That's a shame. You were so close too. Better luck next time." The boss said, Mr. Green seeing the man floating into the air while he tended to his wound from Stoutland. "However, I can't leave things as is. My apologies but I feel it's too...unprofessional."
Snapping his fingers, the man heard explosions where the warehouse was, his eyes widening in shock as he saw the man disappeared into the night sky. "Damn it! Swellow, after him!"
The Pokemon screeched before it sped off to chase the man, Mr. Green running towards the warehouse to see the place covered in flames. He was about to act surprised until he noticed the warehouse covered in a veil which made him smirk. "Nice job, private!"
"No problem, sir!" The man said as the rest of them waited for the explosion to subside. They then searched the warehouse, one of the officers taking up the clipboard on a table before she saw something that made her gasp. "These Pokemon..."
What was on the clipboard was a list of the Pokemon that were missing and stolen during the Celadon attack, the rest of the officers checking before it went to Mr. Green who immediately noticed a few on one of the priority list, much to his surprise. "These are my daughter's Pokemon."
He then went into a room, seeing a bunch of Pokemon cages before he saw the one belonging to Leaf Seeing a hyperactive and desperate Buneary relentlessly kicking the bars in an attempt to escape.
"There's no doubt. You're her Buneary." Mr. Green freed the Pokemon who immediately sped towards the rest of the party, and freeing them along with some other Pokemon which surprised the man before he takes up their capsules with a serious expression on his face. "We're almost there. One part of the puzzle has been solved."
As they sorted out the items and freed the creatures, one of the Great Balls fell onto the floor, opening to release a spirit that took up the ball and immediately fled from the place, its giggles filling the air. After the battle was finished, the police flooded the area, arresting any gang member they could find as they made them unable to escape due to Umbreon's Mean Look along with inspecting the place for the entire night. It is dawn when Mr. Green sees his Swellow descending to him in disappointed, the man smiling as he patted the Pokemon.
"We lost the boss! That's not good. How about where he went? Did you see that?" He asked, the Pokemon shaking his head. He folded his arms and scratched his head as he went to his notepad and checked on all the evidence he could find but unable to come up with nothing as the rest of the officers took out the boxes from the place and warded off the area with a Psychic bubble. He then sighs, looking up at Leaf's party of Pokemon which made a pang of guilt hit his heart as he grips his watch before he decides to sit down and massage his temples.
'Please. Just hold out. Survive as long as you can, Leaf. I'm almost there.'
"Smells like shit in here." One of the female grunts said as they pushed carts of food down through a heavily armored door, looks of disgust on their face as they arrived into a dimly lit room. As they looked at the prisoners trapped in their cells, the female grunts took up the food trays then threw them at the other prisoners before leaving. "Be glad that our boss was generous enough to keep you all alive. Because if he didn't, I would've fed you to my Pokemon."
As soon as the door slammed, sobbing could be heard from the other cells.
"T-this is terrible."
"I-I just wanna go home to mommy."
"This is bullshit!" An impact from one of the cell in front before another followed. "Complete bullshit!"
"Leaf, calm down…we're lucky they're not torturing us as is." Kim said, sporting a swollen cheek and a broken nose as she ate some of the food from the food tray before she heard another bang. Across from her was Leaf who had a few bruises on her body, one of them being a busted lip and a black eye on her face.
"I know but it's unfair. We can't just be stuck here just twiddling our thumbs and waiting for the police to find us. We need to get out of here and kick their asses!" As she yelled, some of the people in the cells were telling her to be quiet including Kimberley. Clicking her teeth, the brunette folded her arms while taking up a piece of bread, crushing it and throwing it to the wall out of anger. They all then heard the door open again, a female grunt with blonde hair coming down, a scowl on her face as she went in front of Leaf's cell. "You again. Didn't you learn from what happened last time, you little bitch?"
"Sorry, Ms. Cassidy. Leaf's not herself these past few days. It's kinda…you know…her time of the month." Kim quickly interrupted, bowing to Cassidy who looked at her and then at Leaf before she sighed. "Alright, you should be glad your friend put in a good word for you."
Leaf simply glared at the woman who didn't flinch before the blonde smirked, crouching down to Leaf's level. "Now listen here. Don't get any bright ideas. We can kill you if we wanted to but we decided to be kind and keep you lowlifes alive. You should be lucky. The both of you. Unlike your friend with the cap."
Upon hearing this, Leaf stood shock while Cassidy relished in the broken expression on the girl's face. "If I remembered correctly, isn't-I'm sorry. Wasn't he your boyfriend, little girl?"
Registering what the woman said, Leaf felt her heart fell and the breathing went erratic as she started to feel nauseous, looking at the floor in disbelief. "That can't be true..."
"You don't need to believe me…but you will have to accept reality soon…" Cassidy said, throwing down an item in front of her, Leaf and Kim's eyes widened in terror as they saw them. Before Leaf was a badge case but the thing that made her gasp was a blue Pokegear that had a cracked screen. Checking the item, she saw it turn, showing a name that drain all the hope from her eyes.
Red.
Cassidy hollered at the sight of Leaf's reaction, about to berate her until one of her grunts pulled her out of the way, the woman wondering why until she saw a hand outstretched to where her face previously was. She flinched when she saw the glare that the brunette gave her before she walked out of the room, her entourage following behind her. "This is just how life is. He died because he's weak. Just like in a Pokemon battle. The strong will defeat the weak. Like it always should be."
As Cassidy left, Leaf just slid to the floor, taking a moment to realize what happened which made tears came out of her eyes. She then felt a hand on her shoulder before she turned to a Rocket grunt with a sympathetic expression. "I'm sorry. I can't begin to think how I would feel if I lost my honey pie. I know I don't have the right to but we have no choice. Please understand. It's just business."
The woman then got up and provided the food to the rest of the prisoners before leaving, Leaf curling herself into a ball as she looked at the ceiling, Kim worried for her until she heard the brunette. "I'm breaking this place apart if it's the last thing I do."
"Welcome new recruits!" A rough voice pierced through the air which frightened anything that was unfortunate to hear it. A bald man covered in scars came out of the door, marching into a huge room occupied by a group of recruits, an intimidating glare on his face as he observes them. "I don't need no introduction, I am your sergeant and you will treat me as such!"
As the sergeant continued speaking, one of the rookies starts crossing his arms and scoffing as he saw the man walking around. "Tch! Does the old geezer have to be so loud? Giving me a damn headache!"
As soon as he was about to turn, he came face to face with the sergeant which made him flinch, the man then putting his hand on the person's shoulder. Witnessing this, the rest of the trainees straightened up themselves in fear, which did not go unnoticed to the sergeant who smirked before he announced in a low voice. "Careful, kid. We all make mistakes but you should better not make that mistake again."
"Y-yes sir." The trainee said, going back to his spot.
"Alright, you fucking gnats! I hope you know that what you're doing isn't some 'cool kids' thing! This shit will change your life! Get you ostracized from society! You'll have to kill! Are you ready to do that? We have no place for sentimental bastards! I won't question you now if you want to turn back now! I'll give you bastards 10 minutes." The man warned, folding his arms as he waited, releasing his Hypno who sat beside him while playing with its pendulum. "Hypno here will teleport you away if you fell like chickening out."
After a while, some of the rookies approached him, the man nodding as his Hypno put them to sleep before teleporting them away, noticing some of the cadets shaking in fear. "Don't worry, you scared Whismurs. Hypno simply erased their memories and sent them back to their homes or whatever."
The man chuckled when he heard some sigh of reliefs until he saw one of the girls raised her hand to which he gestured for her to speak. "Why not just kill them?"
"Are ya fucking dumb?" The man said as he walks up to her and taps her head. "Do you have a fucking a brain in there?"
"U-u-uhh, no sir. I was just asking."
"It was a dumbass question. Think you brat, think! Of course we're gonna send them back. Killing them will risk suspicion and make the police more likely to find our hideout quicker. Especially after the bullshit that happened a couple days ago. Use your brain next time! That's what it's for!" He explained, tapping the girl's head. After he realized that Hypno is done with its job, he returned it before he gestured for the rest of the recruits to follow him until they reach a room that is filled to the brim with training equipment which surprised everyone as he smirked and looked at them. "Now let's start your training!"
Within the night sky, screams can be heard through the silent city as a group of Team Rocket grunts and bolted from alleyway to alleyway, panting heavily as they are being attacked by floating objects around the area.
"Damn it! What's happening? Is this place haunted?"
"This is all your fault! You decided to take your sweet time with your boo! Plus, the police messed up everything."
"Yeah! How did they know we were going to be there?"
The group were running, passing through a street of empty stores until they ran into an invisible wall, the gang looking around until they noticed they are in an alleyway. "What the? Weren't we in the middle of the street?!"
Green smoke covered the area as the grunts look around the place, taking out their Pokemon as they start to cough and become drowsy. "What the hell is happening? I'm feeling...weak..."
"Damn...it's an ambush..."
"Something in the air...is..." They tried to fight against the flying objects, the group starting to lose their consciousness until one of the group made their Loudred use Uproar which woke them all up as they continue their bout. Suddenly, vines sprout from the ground and attack them, some of them retaliating but it did not last long before they all were defeated. One of them struggled on the ground, taking out a walkie talkie to call reinforcements until something broke the device in her hand, much to her surprise.
"What…the…heck…" She said, looking up to see two silhouettes in front of her before one of them swung their arm which sent smoke to her face, making her cough before she ultimately fainted. As the last of the grunts fell, the two silhouettes stripped them of their items and clothes.
"This…this is perfect…" One of them said as they put on the uniform, a Haunter appearing beside them as they put on their gloves but throwing away the whip from the uniform in disgust. "Feels weird being in these again. How's your uniform holding up, Erika?"
"Uh…Brina? Are you sure about this? This feels a bit tight around…places. I have a bad feeling about this." A voice, belonging to Erika said as she tried to fit into the Team Rocket clothing as she stretched her skirt. "Ugh…this is why I like baggy clothes."
Sabrina pinched the bridge of her nose, sighing as she picks up their Card keys and put them in her pockets before telekinetically dragging Erika and the group of unconscious grunts. "Let's go, fat ass. The earlier we deal with this, the better. Plus, we can't leave our star of the show."
"Flamethrower!"
"Surf!"
Two attacks clashed with each other, leaving two Pokemon on the field leering at the other as they awaited their trainers' orders. As the battle continued between them the sergeant was delighted by their progress before he turned to the rest of the cadets, seeing some of them were training themselves, other choosing their Pokemon amongst the shelf given to them while the rest trained alongside their Pokemon.
'This batch seems promising.' The sergeant thought as he watches them with a smile before he sees one of them checking through the batch of Pokemon on the shelf, checking each capsule with a listless expression on his face which made him concerned. Approaching the trainee, the man put a hand on his shoulder. "You ok, kid?"
"Y-yes, sir. I just don't know which Pokemon to choose. You know, I need a Pokemon that fits. That won't have a problem with me as a trainer." The trainee said which made the man lifts his brow in confusion. "Pick anyone. Pokemon are just tools anyways. Why should they care who is the trainer? They only exist for our own amusement and wellbeing."
"Oh, I see. Ok." He said before they heard a commotion, seeing the two recruits battling each other, the other trainees curiously watching the battle.
"Damn, that new recruit really got the moves." One trainee said, his Pokemon hanging on his sleeve. Another came forward, folding her arms with a smirk. "That kid is an amazing prodigy. He will be a great asset to Team Rocket."
"Tch! Look at him. Happily basking in the attention."
"Well, I don't care. As long as I can get money for my daughter. I'm alright with any pay."
"Yeah. I just want my brother to have a good life, even if I have to kill in order to get it."
The cadets whispered amongst each other, some of them more motivated to train as the two battled. Meanwhile, one of the girls was having problems when her Raticate was disobeying her until she tried hitting it with a whip, the Pokemon dodging it then lunging towards her.
"Oh no!"
The sergeant was about to intervene until the trainee beside him dashed forward, releasing a Pokemon that created a shield which stopped the attack until the Raticate got tired. The other trainee then saw this as an opportunity, returning her Pokemon as the shield started subsiding, the sergeant seeing the male with a Koffing floating beside him. 'The kid has promise.'
"Woah! Thanks, man. You saved my bacon." She said, shaking her savior's hand. The person stayed quiet, nodding his head while he gives a thumbs up to the Koffing then leaving to pick up some weights. "Strange guy."
After over a week of training, the sergeant whistled for the trainees to gather together, a proud expression on his face as he sees the determined look on his students' faces and the changes that has been made to them since the first day they joined. 'Good. That is the look. They have great potential for serving Team Rocket. Now I can say…'
"Welcome officially to Team Rocket, everyone."
What he did not notice is a grunt observing them with a smirk on her face before she went inside, her Haunter following beside her. "All according to plan."
"Are you ok, Mr. Green?" A police officer asks a restless Mr. Green who is sipping his coffee while checking his documents. "I will be alright once we're able to get back the missing people and find Team Rocket, Derek. We have been at it for weeks and Celadon is getting back to normal but only some people are able to return so far. In a week, everyone will come back. Plus, it's been weird that there are so many sites that these gangs were taking refuge at."
"Yeah! They're using the city being deserted to do their operations. Good thing we're able to stop most of them."
"Yes but..." Mr. Green drinks his coffee before he notices some policemen entering with bruises as they take in the latest group of Rocket grunts and gang members into the prison section of the station, rubbing his temples as he crossed out a location on a map. "It's not good if Team Rocket is still doing their operations in the shadows. There is so much that we don't know."
"Yeah. But it's odd though. I was checking again on the information that we have found from the meeting sites on for all of them, I realized that all of them produced a radio wave that made them almost invisible to any form of machinery." Derek explained, his Audino coming beside him to take a paper that it gave to Mr. Green who froze upon seeing the paper. "W-what? There's so many. And these are?"
"Team Rocket members. This is why you can't normally find Team Rocket. With those waves, they can hide in plain sight. Do whatever they want."
"And hide their presence from us." Mr. Green finished, his eyes darting through the paper until he saw a huge red dot in the middle of the city, the man dropping his papers as he connected the dots. "The Casino?"
"Exactly." Derek said, putting his hand in his chin as he gave a device to his Audino as he turned to the commissioner. "So...I was able to find a way to reverse engineer it to help us to lure them out. The question is: are you ready?"
"How long does it take for the device to work?"
"An hour or two, give or take."
"Hmm. I want to make sure that we're prepared for this. I can't allow them to get away with what they've done." Mr. Green leaned forward and furrowed his brows, thinking about his options until he called the deputy, discussing the plans with him and the others officers before they start preparing themselves for the day to combat Team Rocket. As a couple days have passed, Mr. Green watched as the sun rose over the horizon as everyone armed themselves while he adjusted his bulletproof vest and taking up two batons and stun guns as he sat at the outside of the police station, massaging his temple while he felt the gentle breeze and hear the silent howl of the deserted city. He then looked at his phone, seeing multiple messages from his wife asking if he is ok and they were able to find Leaf which made the man let out a shaky sigh as he made a call, hearing his wife. "Hey..."
"Honey, how are you? Are you ok? Were you able to find Leaf?" Mrs. Green's voice said quickly in a worried tone. The man let out a sigh, closing his eyes before answering. "I'm...alright. How's Lyra?"
"She's sleeping. First time in days. She's worried about you two."
"Hmm. Can't blame her. It's honestly taking a lot for me to not run in guns blazing and get Leaf."
"It's ok. I wish I could help." Mr. Green just chuckled, brushing his hair with his hand. "You're helping already. Don't worry, the Academy can't do much without their best teacher. Plus, with how much they're trying to cover their tracks, I don't want you to be put on as extra leverage for them."
"Got it. How about Kim and Red? Any signs of them?"
"From the looks of it, Kim is on the hostage list along with Leaf when we checked on one of the sites. As for the boy, I have not seen any signs of him since the attack. He's not on the list at all. It's almost as if..." Mr. Green paused, his eyes closed before he let out a sigh. "Let's just say he could still be alive as we have not found any traces of his body but our priority is get Team Rocket for now. We'll find him later."
There was a long pause after that, Mrs. Green humming a tune that allowed the man to soothe down before she spoke again. "Hey. After this is all over, let's take a break at Celadon City as a family. Lyra wants to meet her sister. You can even invite Kim and Red."
"Yeah...Let's." Mr. Green smiled before he saw the police force ready and standing in front of him at attention. "I need to go. I'll keep you posted."
"Got it. Stay safe and don't do anything stupid." Mrs. Green said which let out a chuckle from the man before he tells her bye and hangs up standing in front of the troop with a serious expression. Seeing everyone ready, the man cleared his throat before he made an announcement. "I don't have any fancy speeches right now! I just want to urge you all to fight out there with all your heart! Take revenge for what happened to the people of this city! But don't misunderstand, I don't want anyone of you to push yourselves to the brink unless necessary! If you are seriously hurt, get checked by Nurse Joy in the SUV!"
"Alright, everyone! Move out!" They all immediately got into their vehicles and drove out to the direction of the Celadon Casino, Mr. Green having a serious expression as he took off his watch and put it into his pocket as he adjusted his equipment.
"You won't get away this time, Team Rocket!"
"Gotta say, the hideout is fuego~" One of the male grunts whistled excitedly while checking the place out, the others agreeing with him. The group travelled through the hallway, watching the other grunts doing their own activities.
"Well, this will be your new working site. If you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask." The sergeant said as he opened a door, gesturing the new grunts to go into a room that looks similar to that of a pharmacy. Going to the counter and speaking with the female grunt there, the sergeant was given some bags which he provided each rookie with one, one of them looking in it to see Rare Candies. "I thought these stopped selling. Weren't they discontinued in production?"
"Well, yeah. They're discontinued legally but we don't care about that. The drugs cause devastating effects especially if used excessively. Always make sure to train your Pokemon before using them." The sergeant explained intently to them as some of them fed the candy to their Pokemon.
"Why though?"
"It's like steroids. It helps but overdose can kill your Pokemon." He shrugged before he led to another room. As they entered the room, the first person in the room is a green haired man who is dressed up in a stylish version of the Rocket uniform. The man had an annoyed look on his face before he turned to the trainees, immediately dashing towards them then kicking one in the stomach, the grunt falling on the ground before the green haired man stomped his foot on their head.
"Seriously, Proton? How many times do we have to go over this? The grunts are not your punching bags. Shit, he's spitting out blood. Medic!" The sergeant called for a medic who nursed the poor grunt up to health while Proton glared at the rest of them.
"They need to know their place." He stated, cracking his knuckles until his phone started ringing. Clicking his teeth, he begrudgingly went to another room to answer the call, the group turning to the sergeant who sighs in disappointment. "Well, that was Proton. One of your superiors of the force. Don't annoy him. Scratch that, just avoid him in general."
The newly grunts nodded quickly before they saw a group of female grunts passed them, one of the grunts lifted his beret when he noticed two female grunts going to another section of the facilities. 'Huh? Well, I guess it's time.'
Being escorted to the room filled with computers and machines, the sergeant leans on the wall as he called for the person behind the computer. "Got any missions for us, Doc?"
"No. Not right now! Why don't you all just train or something?" The man turned around, everyone seeing a brown haired man who had dark rings around his eyes before he went back to the monitor.
"Training ain't effective unless we see the results of it. Plus, you look like shit. What happened?"
"That's what I've been trying to find out. Something's been messing around with our waves and I'm trying to find out where but nothing is coming up nor am I finding a location." The brown haired man said angrily as he typed on his keyboard. Suddenly, the alarms blared around the hideout which shocked all the grunts as they all look around in confusion. Before anyone could ask a question, an explosion occurred which shook the entire hideout. "What the hell is happening?"
The man checked the computer, his eyes widening as he checked the cameras. "That's impossible. The police found our location!"
"The police?! How?" One of the grunts gasped in surprise.
"We don't have time to think about that. It's go time! Everyone, prepare for trouble!" The sergeant said, the grunts getting ready as they went on their way out of the hideout. Meanwhile within the security room, several grunts laid on the floor as a green smoke enveloped the room, someone looking through the surveillance footage with a smile on her face before she sees one of the camera showing a male grunts going in a different direction.
"Interesting. This…might be a lot of fun…"
Explosions and tremors shook the prison, Leaf and the other prisoners frightened by this as more followed, much stronger than the previous.
"What's going on?"
"The hell?!"
"I-I-I'm scared..."
Leaf could barely hear commotion from the other end of the hallway, biting her nail as she saw Kim trying her best to stay calm. Seeing the grunts guarding the place in disarray, she looked around the place for some form of escape until she heard a voice beside her which made her jump. She turn to see Misdreavus floating beside, punching the Pokemon which it quickly dodged as she started complaining. "Misdreavus, that's no-"
She then stopped abruptly, turning to the Pokemon and blinking frequently at it as it giggled maniacally. "Misdreavus?! You're alright? Wha-how?"
The Pokemon simply laughed at the girl before it went to the bars and used Icy Wind to freeze them, much to Leaf's joy as she broke them with one kick. Hearing the guards coming her way, she immediately dashed forward, pummeling one of them in the face before finishing them off with a kick to the head as Misdreavus defeated their Pokemon. About to turn her attention to the next guard, she was caught off guard when he tackled her into a wall.
"You little bitch! Well, at least I can get one out before I leave." He said, going for Leaf's breasts before the girl pulls him forward, slamming his head to the wall then swiping out his tazer and electrocuting him with it, knocking him out. "At least take me out to dinner first."
Feeling another tremor and getting the keys from the guards, she quickly freed all of the prisoners who were, Kim being one
"Alright, everyone! We need to make sure that we get out of here alive! Whoever here is unable to walk on their own, please help them out." She said, throwing the guards in a cell and locking them up after she looted them. She then lifted a Card key. "It looks like they use this Card key to get around the place so I want one of you to use this to get everyone to safety while I make a diversion."
Leaf then gave the card to Kim who gasped before she looked at Leaf. "Wait! You're not coming with us?"
"One of us has to make a distraction and since I'm the only one here with a Pokemon. I gotta do it."
"But you're injured as well. You're not 100% either."
Leaf looked to the ground and nodded, seeing the bruises around her body before she gave them a determined look. "We have no choice nor time. Also, we're in their base and we're at a terrible disadvantage by not knowing where to go. So we gotta find some way to even our odds."
"Alright. Just make sure you don't do anything dumb and to stay with us." Kim sighed as she dusted herself off before everyone got themselves ready. As they left the prison and went into another area, Leaf bolted forward when she noticed a female grunt around the corner, knocking them out with a swift kick to the face which sent them into the wall before she looted her and took her clothes, giving them to Kim. "Put these on, they will be less suspicious."
"Got it." Kim said, wearing the uniform as Leaf donned some knuckledusters and steel toe boots as she ran forward. Searching the hallways ahead, Leaf and Misdreavus were able to take down a few other grunts until she was able to rack up a few items and weapons, giving them to the rest of the prisoners as she looked at a map of the place inside one of the rooms. 'Alright so we're right here and the exits are right here so...'
She smiled as she walked out of the room, seeing everyone ready and armed as she dashed forward. "Alright! Time for a prison break!"
