On December 12th, Amber woke up. She remembered that her cousins were off on an adventure.
"Happy birthday, Amber." Skylia says.
"Thanks." Amber says.
With Luke, he watched the siblings plan Lucy's birthday. He then looked away.
"They never loved Luke…I'll have them executed…" He says.
Luckily, Aria was at school. So she didn't hear this.
Amber heads out to check on Luke, worried and also Oliver. Oliver was 15 now, and Luke and Chalice decided to raise him to be better.
Oliver was in the middle of his etiquette lessons at Inkwell Castle when Amber came by.
Amber just watches.
"And if you don't want any more tea, Oliver, dear, you simply turn your teacup over on top of the saucer and lay your spoon on top. Then say 'No, thank you, I've had enough tea.', like so." Oliver's etiquette teacher, Portia says.
Oliver does what Portia does. "No, thank you, I've had enough tea." He says.
"Very good!" Portia says. "Oh, it appears you have company! How do you greet your company, Oliver?"
"Hello, Miss Amber, how do you do?" Oliver says.
"I'm okay." Amber says.
"Come join me for tea, if you please." Oliver says. "You look like you could use it."
"No, thank you. I need to check on Luke." Amber says.
But to her surprise, Luke appeared in the doorway.
"Hello, Amber." Luke says.
"Hello, I heard what happened…" Amber says.
"Yeah." Luke says.
"Sorry to hear that." Amber says.
"It's okay." Luke says.
Amber goes home a few hours later. Confetti fell on her.
"What is this?" Amber asked.
"Happy birthday, Amber!" Skylia says.
"Thank you!" Amber says. Skylia gives Amber a gift.
Luke sits in his room, listening to the other siblings be excited for Lucy's birthday. He stares at the ground.
Lucy walked to Luke. Luke looks at her.
"Hey Luke." She says.
"Hey, Luce-Luce." Luke says.
"I don't want to celebrate too much. I'll even celebrate by myself." Lucy says.
"The others are planning your birthday, though." Luke says.
"Sigh." Lucy sighs and leaves, not saying another word. She knew Cuphead was putting her siblings up to this.
Amber opened a few more gifts, then saw her cake.
"Thank you." Amber says as Emma looks at the cake. Skylia holds Emma back while Amber thinks of a wish.
Amber then blew out all the candles on her cake.
Luke watched the siblings make decorations for Lucy, Aria, and Edwin. Luke sniffs and just looks away.
Leni was working on a shirt for Luke.
Luke soon sat in the room he and Chalice shared, watching some of his past parties while shedding a few tears. But the party that just came up was from last year, where the celebration was held in Galveston at Moody Gardens. It was the party where he was alone. Garrett was the only other person there with him. Now he could feel a lump in his throat as he struggled to swallow it before sobbing his heart out.
Aria was waiting for her birthday, hoping for two.
Chalice hears Luke in their room.
"Poor Luke…" She says. She remembered that a lot of the parties last year were rushed, and she especially knew about the Moody Gardens fiasco. That was a sad day for Luke, but he had Garrett with him, at least.
"One mistake, everyone will be executed!" Luke hissed.
"Darling, tell me what is making you upset." Chalice says.
Luke explained. Chalice pitied her husband as she held him.
"Why did they have to rush my special week last year?! Were they that determined to go Christmas shopping and be with their friends?!" Luke sobbed. "Do they not care about me or my birthweek anymore?"
"Look, sometimes family drifts apart. Some families never reunite." Chalice says, trying to reassure Luke.
"FINE! EVERYONE CAN DRIFT APART!" Luke sobbed. "I DON'T CARE ANYMORE!"
"Lukey, you don't mean that…" Chalice says.
"I do…and at the same time, I don't…" Luke sniffed. Luke wished he hadn't said that at all.
The next day, Luke dragged himself out of bed. He got in the shower and took his time, then headed down to breakfast after getting dressed.
He saw Aria and Edwin getting their special breakfast. All he could do was manage a smile as he ate his own breakfast. He was happy for them, and tried to show it.
Not all the siblings were there for Aria. Edwin could care less about who was there as he didn't join in too many of the birthday festivities. The two of them finish breakfast, then go off to do their own things. Luke went off to the castle to be alone for a while.
With the siblings, Lana was sick and Charity had to take care of her on her own, Lynn was training for basketball season at school, Leni was making Luke a birthday suit, and Lori was at her job at Smoothie Palace.
Luna was with Sam and Clover at the Moon Goats' band practice. Luan had four back-to-back birthday gigs and all of them were high-paying gigs. Lincoln had plans with his friends at the mall's laser tag arena.
Lisa was busy giving virtual lectures about science stuff to university students.
With Luke, he stares out the window at the people of Inkwell as they prepare for the Christmas holiday.
"They should be preparing for my birthday!" Luke hissed. He then starts talking about the siblings and what last year brought him.
"They thought they could rush my week…" Luke hissed. The siblings also get their birthdays rushed, but Luke doesn't care about that anymore.
Luke then looked at pictures from some of the good parties. He liked those a lot. He was now planning their executions.
Chalice helped Amy plan Cream's birthday party. She couldn't help but wonder what Luke was doing and how he was feeling.
"Poor Cream, she never got a proper birthday." Amy says, usually thanks to Eggman.
"Luke is having his birthweek." Chalice says
"I'm not sure if I can make it." Amy says looking down "When is yours?"
"January 21st." Chalice says.
Luke began to sob in the middle of the castle. He knew it wasn't fair.
Aria saw her father crying. She hated to see him cry.
It was still morning. But she didn't care. She went to make him a birthday breakfast. She decided to start his birthweek two days early. After all, she never got to celebrate.
She approached him. "Happy birthday, dad…" she says. Luke looked at her.
"No…it's your birthday, honey. You don't have to do this for me." Luke sniffed.
"It's the only way for you to be happy." Aria says. "I don't like it when you're sad."
Luke began to eat.
Everyone began decorating for Luke. But all Luke wanted was to unleash his feelings. He didn't want an early birthweek celebration.
Aria was giving orders as they set up. She knew Luke didn't want this, but she wanted him to cheer up faster.
Luke stormed out of the castle and began to unleash his feelings in the form of one big Elemental Storm, which caused lots of damage. He then hissed very loudly and flew off.
Aria set it up at Dave and Buster's. But Luke refused to show up. He had flown far off.
This made Aria cry, feeling like a failure. But Chalice was quick to reassure Aria.
Lucy teleported and found Luke. "Luke, look, I know this isn't what you wanted, but your daughter really gave up her 7th birthday for you. She knows about last year, too. She was there. Then she didn't celebrate last year, because she knew you couldn't handle her celebrating her birthday or anyone celebrating a birthday in December. No matter how hard you lie, you can't really handle people celebrating in December. She knew that and wanted your happiness." Lucy says.
"Well, she can have that party." Luke sniffed.
"You're being ungrateful." Lucy says. "You didn't even thank her. You just got mad and flew away."
"The 13th is her day." Luke says. "I am not ungrateful!"
"Technically, she was born on my day, but just be grateful Aria's just worried about the family being split apart." Lucy says.
Meanwhile, Angry Luigi kicks the door down as the cosmic buddies enter Jason's house.
"Jason, buddy?" Bill asked.
"Where are you?" Savannah asked. There was destruction. Lots of it.
"I guess Luke was invited for a sleepover and thought of his birthday." Jack joked.
"What's next, you're going to do a Luke impression?" Alex asked.
"Sure will." Jack says.
"Please don't." Reilly says.
Bill sees a letter. "I guess Jason has been involved in some gang trouble and he didn't tell us." Bill says.
"We should get Luke." Savannah says.
"No way, Luke will just take our credit for saving the day." Alem tuber says.
"And Jason is our friend." Angry Luigi says.
"And Luke hates most adventures." Chrissy says.
"Especially in December. He's probably scheming to be a Grinch, like the actual Grinch that Angry Luigi is." Alem tuber says.
"Yeah, he kinda is a Grinch." Emma says.
"How do we find Jason?" Chrissy asked.
"I don't know, but he owes us a sleepover!" Delta says.
Meanwhile, at Dave & Buster's…
"I don't get it. I thought he would like this. I mean, Daddy always cries about wanting his birthday." Aria says.
"Sweetie, I think this is a very nice thing that you're doing for your father. But you need to know that while he wants to appreciate it and everything, he just has a ton of repressed feelings he really has to let out." Chalice explained. "We all need to help him with that. That's what he wants most right now. Can we help him?"
"We can do that." Cuphead says.
They soon go to help him. They then find Luke rocking back and forth as he cries. Charity explains how that helps him.
They try to comfort him. Then they use their words.
"It's okay, we'll be there for your birthweek. It's a week where we celebrate you!" Lori says.
Luke sniffs as he keeps listening to his siblings.
Meanwhile, Aria was alone. Mugman and Jackson find her.
"Happy birthday to me…" she sniffed.
Jackson puts an arm around Aria. "Hey, why are you sad?" He asked.
"Well, everyone except Tori ditched me. Worst birthday ever." Aria says.
"Luke, listen, you are important to us." Lucy says.
"And we're going to make sure you have a great birthweek." Leni says, smiling at Luke. Luke smiled back.
