"Thunderbolt!"
"Thunder!"
Two blasts of lightning clashed with each other, creating a powerful shockwave of electricity that destroyed parts of the road. As the two attacks dispersed, Tony looked up to see a huge energy avatar of a dragon coming towards him, his Luxray glowing as its body bulked up before it stopped the move with its paws before flinging it into several boulders. As Metagross was about to attack the lynx, a barrage of purple bullets hit it before it was pushed back by a Solar Beam from Bellossom.
"Don't bother." Erika said as she and her Gogoat dodged a Flash Cannon from the Steel-type. Seeing this, Tony made his Luxray redirect Dragonite towards Metagross, shooting a Thunder that electrocuted the two Pokemon. Suddenly, Dragonite vanished which surprised Tony before it struck Luxray in the face as it held its ground against the orange dragon.
"Luxray, Iron Tail!" The lynx went for the move which clashed with Metagross' Meteor Mash. Dragonite took to the air and was about to use Dragon Rush that was stopped by a Wild Charge from Gogoat, sending it into Metagross. Before the two Pokemon could get up, they were battered by a barrage of Electro Ball, much to Kuroi's annoyance as his eyes twitched. "Well, one's thing for certain, you have gotten more annoying. Dragonite."
His Dragonite used Hurricane to stop its opponents' attacks before it vanished, surprising Tony and Erika as they both looked around until they noticed Metagross charging towards them, spinning around while its arms are glowing.
"Stop it with Strength!" Tony ordered, his Luxray pushing back until Dragonite appeared behind them and launched a Thunderbolt that was stopped by Bellossom's Tri Attack. Kuroi sneered as both of his Pokemon were pushed back by his two opponent trainers. "You have both gotten very annoying."
"I'm not sure if I should take that as a compliment or an insult." Tony said as he commanded his Pokemon to hit Dragonite who used Extreme Speed, dodging a barrage of Flash Cannon until it threw a boulder towards the dragon that deflected it with a Hurricane. During their bout, Erika took on Metagross, her Bellossom hitting it with a Solar Beam before her Gogoat trapped it with a Bulldoze. As the battle continued, Metagross slammed its arms on the floor and unleashed a wave of rock spikes that was destroyed by Gogoat, Dragonite vanished and about to attack Erika which did not go unnoticed by Tony.
"Scar, Sucker Punch!" Erika did not have to look back when Tony's Furret, which has a scar in the form of an 'X' on its forehead. Erika smiled when she saw the Normal-type before she gave it a berry. "Thank you, Butterscotch!"
"Buttersc-you're still on that name! His name is Scar!" Tony turned to Erika who folded her arms and pouted. "We agreed that his name would be Butterscotch."
"No, we didn't! Don't twist the truth!" They started arguing, their Pokemon giving them judgmental stares as they both got into each other faces. "You gotta be kidding me! Butterscotch isn't even a cool name. I didn't even agree to that. How did you lie?"
"Did I?" Erika put her finger on her chin in a blank manner, much to Tony's rage as his eye started twitching. "You did!"
The two then quickly noticed Dragonite about to attack them, Erika making Bellossom stop it with a Tri Attack before Luxray wrapped its tail around the dragon's neck and used Thunder. As Metagross got out of the ground and rushed towards them, the lynx threw Dragonite into it before Bellossom send the two back with a Solar Beam. As their opponents begun to lift themselves off the ground, Tony and Erika braced themselves as a tornado came towards them. "We'll continue this later, Erika!"
"Likewise."
The two made their attack, Luxray shooting a Snarl that weaken the attack before Bellossom flew into the sky with Hidden Power and used Air Slash that dispersed the tornado. The Grass-type then shot a Solar Beam that sent the dragon to the ground before Luxray bit it and used Thunder.
"Dragon Rush!" The old man commanded, Dragonite then erupted in purple flames, warding off the lynx as the Pokemon ascended into the air. "Now Hurricane!"
Dragonite was about to attack before it was hit by a barrage of spheres from Bellossom before it was knocked to the ground by a Thunder from Luxray. Dragonite then unleashed a wave of energy that pushed back both Erika and Tony, the Pokemon flying in the air as its body surged with energy. As it went for a Dragon Rush, Luxray leaped into the air as the surrounding Luxio used Electro Ball that managed to slow down Dragonite before the lynx slammed its paws unto the dragon's back and used Thunder.
As Bellossom was about to unleash a Solar Beam at the dragon, Dragonite immediately exploded with energy and ascended to the air before unleashing a Thunderbolt that the flower barely dodged.
"Isn't this weird?" Tony said which caught Erika's attention as her Bellossom created a shield using Hidden Power to protect them from a Thunderbolt. As he made his Furret stun the Pokemon with a Sucker Punch, the gym leader noticing a barrage of lightning bolts coming towards them. "You're noticing it too, right? Dragonite's absurd defense?"
"Yeah." Tony nodded as he watched the dragon take a strike to the gut before it retaliated with an Extreme Speed. "My Luxray alone should be able to take out his Dragonite but it's been taking hit after hit with no bruises. Do you think-"
They were interrupted when Metagross broke through the shield and attacked them, Luxray about to attack it before Dragonite blocked the attack which surprised the two young trainers.
"To think I would see you two fight together."
The two looked up to see Kuroi who was on top of his Metagross, his arms crossed as he glared at them. Erika let out a smile as she bowed mockingly. "Sometimes we have to compromise-"
"-And set our differences." Tony said before he whispered to Erika. "We're gonna fight together? You're not mad at me, right?"
"No, Tony. Not right now but don't push it." The woman said before they both looked at Dragonite and Metagross then shared a nod. As the dragon lunged at him, Tony went on the offensive by making his Luxray clash with its opponent. "I'll handle Dragonite. You deal with Metagross, ok?"
"Aye aye!" Erika said as they noticed Metagross coming towards Luxray, knocking it to another section of the route with a Bulldoze, much to Kuroi's dismay. The elderly man struggled as he and Metagross faced against Erika who repeatedly shot a barrage of psychic bullets at them.
"This is not your business, gym leader." Kuroi stated, his Pokemon shot a Flash Cannon which his opponent dodged before Bellossom retaliated with Tri Attack.
"You're making it my issue by targeting and causing chaos around Celadon City." Erika made her rebuttal as she stopped a Meteor Mash with Bellossom. The flower then shot two more blasts that pushed back Metagross before it hopped into the air and enveloped its hand with Tri Attack and punched the Steel-type, sending it to the ground. Taken off guard and annoyed by the woman's retaliation, he made his move by freezing her on the spot with Psychic.
"We mean no harm. All we want is that brat with the red eyes and we'll be along our merry little way." The elderly man said in a calm manner, Erika fighting against his hold until she felt the hold intensifying around her neck which caused her vision to be blurry. "All you had to do was turn a blind eye to our activity and what did you do? You helped that piece of shit escape his prison."
Erika flailed as much as she could before her body went limp as she stopped moving and snapped her fingers, causing several vines to come out of the ground and smack the blue metallic spider repeatedly, each hit creating an explosion. This caused the Steel-type to lose its grip on the gym leader's neck before her Gogoat tackled the Pokemon with a Wild Charge, Bellossom ending the assault with a Solar Beam.
Seeing that he was starting to lose his balance and fall off his Metagross, Kuroi had no choice but to jump off his Pokemon as the veil over its body started to subside. He then noticed Tangrowth who came out of the ground, lifting the Steel and Psychic Pokemon in the air.
'This isn't good.' The elderly man sneered before he noticed his Pokemon being flung past him and sent into a wall. He then glared at Erika who stood beside her Pokemon, an empty expression on her face as she walked towards him. "You underestimate me, sir. Although, that is good for me. I'll let nature take its course."
"Don't get coy with me, you bra-" He could not finish his sentence when he noticed Bellossom starting to use Quiver Dance while Tangrowth's arms let out a dark glow as it lashed out at Metagross, grabbing the Pokemon before electrocuting it and then slamming it to the ground.
"Damn you, you little wench!" Kuroi exploded in anger. Erika was quietly listening as the man's face etched in annoyance, letting out a smile when he finished before she went for her counterattack.
Meanwhile, Tony was clashing against Dragonite, bolts of lightning clashing with other while the two Pokemon traded blows with each other. As they continued fighting, Tony noticed something with the dragon when he landed a heavy blow to it, noticing a barrier becoming visible at the spot it was hit.
'That's it! That's the reason for its defense but that isn't Marvel Scale and Barrier isn't one of its moves then...' He thought before he called for his Furret whose eyes started to glow before it shook its head. "So no items to loot? That sucks. Alright then, Luxray, Strength!"
Obeying its trainer's command, Luxray lunged at Dragonite who unleashed a Hurricane that send it and the pack of Luxio into the air before it dashed at Tony who barely got out of the way, his body immediately aching from the electricity emitting from its scales. "Damn it! That fucking hurts! Should've taken Erika advice."
Noticing Dragonite about to attack him, he smirked before Furret suddenly jumped from behind him and hit the dragon with a Brick Break that caused its shield to be shattered. Not missing a beat, the Normal-type hit it with Return that pushed it back before Luxray ruthlessly attacked the dragon with Strength before slamming it onto the ground with an Iron Tail.
"Good! He's now injured!" Tony smirked when he saw the Pokemon having bruises on its body. Suddenly the dragon disappeared, Tony looked around until he noticed it behind him, snapping his finger. "Sucker Punch, Scar!"
Furret did not waste time as it intercepted Dragonite's attack, Luxray quickly appearing between them and landed an Iron Tail on the dragon that sent it back.
"C'mon! Why don't we have a regular one-on-one brawl? Without trying to end my life." Tony suggested, getting his answer when his assailant dashed towards him but its attack was stopped by Luxray. The raven-haired man let out a sigh before he made his move. "Let's end it with Thunder! Full Power!"
Lightning surged through the lynx's body, its eyes glowing before it used the move which caused a bright flash of light that enveloped the entire area.
Meanwhile, Kuroi was struggling against Erika as the woman relentlessly bombarded his Metagross with attacks until Bellossom launched a Tri Attack that sent it into a cliff.
"Metagross! Flash Cannon, full strength!"
"Bellossom, don't hold back on this one! Solar Beam!"
Both Pokemon charged their attacks, Metagross puts its glowing hands together which formed a sphere while Bellossom's flowers started to absorb light. Two balls of light shone brightly throughout as Erika made her Tangrowth cover their battlefield by erecting a wall of vines behind Kuroi which surprised the old man. "What is she-"
"Shoot now!" Erika shouted, her Pokemon immediately firing its attack that travelled through the route as Metagross fired its move but it could not do nothing to Bellossom's blast.
"Damn it, we need to-" He was cut off again when his Dragonite was flown into Metagross which made the two Pokemon get hit by the Solar Beam, sending them through the route and into a cliff, knocking them out. Witnessing what happened in front of him, Kuroi's facial expression changed to one of surprise when he saw his Pokemon unconscious before he saw Tony walking beside Erika as they faced him.
"End of the road, you old fart!" Tony stated as his grandfather returned his Pokemon before he glared at the two trainers. "To think...you were able to defeat my Metagross and Dragonite? How dare you? The two of you shouldn't be this strong!"
Tony and Erika watched as veins appeared on the man's face from his anger, gripping his capsules with all his strength.
"I told you. Things have changed." Tony spoke up with a calm manner, his Pokemon nodding in agreement beside him.
"I have to train in order to get my position as Gym Leader." Erika said with a smile before she patted her Pokemon.
Seeing the two standing against him, the elderly man shook in anger before he threw a Smoke Ball on the ground, obscuring Tony and Erika's sight as the woman prepared her bow and arrow while Tony blew away the smog with Snarl. As the smoke cleared, they notice Kuroi standing with a confident smirk as he took out two black pills from a container in his pocket. 'I never thought that I had to resort to this method.'
Seeing the pills, Tony's face paled which did not go unnoticed by Erika. "Furret, Sucker P-"
"Consume this, Dragonite!" The elderly man released his Dragonite before he threw the pill at it, the Pokemon swallowing it.
"How did you get your hands on that?" Tony asked, Kuroi laughing as his Pokemon begun to heal themselves from their injuries. Seeing this, Erika was perplexed as Tony spoke again. "Answer me! How did you get those? I thought those pills were discontinued when Dad took over the gang!"
The man laughed heartily as he threw another to his Metagross who started to shake. "You're quite naïve, boy. There are still things that you do not know about our gang!"
"You-"
Both Dragonite and Metagross started to fall on the ground, their body beginning to glow intensely as veins appeared on the dragon's skin while Metagross' body begun to harden and give off a red glow. Seeing the two Pokemon's transformations, Erika was disgusted by it before she saw the look of disbelief on Tony's face. "I take it you know what that is, right?"
The raven-haired man nodded with a grim expression. "That's a...Berserk Gene."
"What's a Berserk Gene?" Erika asked as the two Pokemon that they were facing glared at them, Dragonite's claws becoming longer and its wings getter bigger while Metagross' body is now transforming into a black chrome-like skin with the 'X' on its face being red.
"Long answer: It's an extremely dangerous drug that boosts the power of the Pokemon to an outrageous degree. Sometimes even changing their appearance." Tony explained when they saw the two Pokemon getting up and facing them. "Short answer: This battle is gonna be much, much more difficult from here."
"Well, that sounds neat." Erika said as the two Pokemon were about to attack them.
Going through the quiet streets of Celadon City were several of the gym trainers of the Celadon Gym on bikes, Julia being one of them as she looked at Kim and Leaf who was at the back of her motorcycle. "Poor children. I need to get them to the hospital."
They then heard explosions from the distance, the group of bikers noticing several Titan Troop members chasing them. Avoiding the attacks from their pursuers and trying to shake them off, Julia and her group went through an alleyway to throw off their assailants, barely dodging multiple blasts coming at them.
"Fork over the girls, you damn bitches!" One of the male Titan troop shouted as his Pokemon launched a beam that froze the path in front of them. The girls look back to see the men coming towards them, smiles adorning their faces as they surrounded them.
"They only use Grass Pokemon. Get your Flying and Fire Pokemon ready!" The member at the front said as they all released their Pokemon
"Don't think we're easy picking because we use Grass-types. Don't underestimate nature!" One of the gym trainers said as she released a Lombre who was moving around rhythmically. "Hope you guys can swim! Lombre, Surf!"
It unleashed a tidal wave that hit the Titan Troop group, turning to Julia as some of the others joined her. "Go! We'll hold them off. Take them to the hospital!"
"Alright, be safe." Julia nodded as she took off, some of the enemies about to follow her but they were stopped by a Surf as they all turned to the gym trainers who stayed behind. "You shall not pass!"
As they begun their battle, the gym trainers were able to overpower the group before they noticed something flying past them, they looked up to see a dragon-like creature going towards Julia. "That isn't good. I have to contact her. Does anyone know where Red is?"
"Dunno. One of the people from Tony's gang said that they'll get him!" Another said as they made their Tangela took out a Titan Troop member. The girl sent a text message to Julia before continuing her battle. "Stay safe, Julia."
Meanwhile, Julia was on her way to the hospital, looking around the place for any incoming enemies. She then noticed a bike accelerating beside her, her eyes widened and a gasp escaped her mouth when she noticed the bruised and bloodied state of Red. "Oh my God."
"Yeah. We need to get them to the hospital quick!" The Draconite biker stated in a worried tone. As they continued, Leaf suddenly regained consciousness before she looked around the place. Her eyes landed on Red who was still unconscious, her stomach aching before she noticed Kim.
"...what...happened..." Leaf looked around the place, seeing multiple bodies on the floor, some oozing puddles of blood which made the girl not wanting to know if they are dead or unconscious.
"This war is crazy. At least it's not as bad as the Team Rocket fiasco." Leaf heard Julia's comment before she noticed a blast coming towards them. "Look out."
The woman noticed the attack dodging it before they saw more coming towards them which they evaded, looking up to see someone that made her eyes widened in fear. 'Seriously?!'
Behind her was Dread who was on his Charizard, a crazed look on his face. His Charizard shot a wave of fire that her Zorua coming out of its Pokeball and used Extrasensory that managed to slow it down. As they tried to lose him by making a few turns, they were rewarded with failure when the man launched an Air Slash that grazed the other biker who had Red, the attack cutting the ground.
"If we're not careful, we're dead meat." Julia said before she made another turn, taking out a Pokeball and releasing a Weepinbell which surprised Leaf. 'What is a Weepinbell about to do?'
"Do you have any Pokemon that can use Foresight or Odor Sleuth?" Julia asked to which the other biker nodded and sent out a Venonat who used Foresight as Julia turned to Dread.
"Clear Smog!" She commanded, her Pokemon unleashed a wave of clear smoke that covered them. The two bikers accelerated as they passed the Game Corner, Dread in quick pursuit of them as he looked for his targets.
"Where did they go?" He wondered before he was at the end of his patience as he made his Charizard blow away the smoke with Air Slash that revealed the two bikers, a smile on his face as his bloodshot eyes glared at them. "There you are."
"Oh no!"
"Now Di-" His Pokemon was knocked back by a Scrafty, Julia being surprised before she noticed Havoc who was wiping his wounds while giving her a nod. "Take them to the hospital! We'll take care of ol' one arm here."
"Thank you!" She nodded before they drove off. Havoc then turned to Dread who tried to get around Scrafty only to be stopped by a Dragon Claw that knocked him and his Charizard to the ground.
"Let's tango, one arm! Hope you give me a better fight than Sir Savage." Havoc smirked as his Scrafty raised its fists and dashed towards Dread who shook in anger. "Burn them, Charizard."
The two went for their attack as they clashed with each, creating an explosion of flames. Both trainers were pushed back before Charizard took the air and was about to dash towards Red and Leaf which did not go unnoticed by Havoc. "Oh no, you don't. Get your ass down here."
Scrafty leaped to the air and hit the Fire-type with a Throat Chop before punching it in the back and sending it to the ground. As both Pokemon faced each other and about to attack, a huge explosion occurred before Havoc noticed a huge bolt of lightning pierced through the sky and hit Route 16.
"That ain't lovely..." Havoc said before he noticed Charizard attacking with Air Slash which he countered with Dragon Claw, the two trading blows while another lightning bolt hit the route again. "Hope the boss and Lady Erika are alright."
"Extreme Speed!"
Kuroi commanded as his Dragonite vanished into thin air before it was struck by a bolt of lightning, the dragon unleashing a Thunderbolt which was blocked by an Energy Ball from Bellossom. Before the orange Pokemon could retreat, Luxray bit onto its tail to hold it in place but it failed when the dragon used Hurricane and knocked back both Bellossom and Luxray.
"You've made your point on how difficult this will be."
"Yeah, change of plans. We need to slow Dragonite down. Luxray, grab Bell!"
Erika and Tony watched their Pokemon fell in front of them, Luxray wrapping its tail around Bellossom and putting it on its back before dashing towards Dragonite who was rushing towards them.
"Thunder!"
"Nature Power!"
Luxray's body crackled with electricity, Bellossom using Nature Power which siphoned the energy from the Electric-type move as it charged a ball of electricity in its hands. The two then shot their lightning blasts that electrocuted Dragonite but it endured the attack and attacked them.
"He's not making it easy for us." Erika said, her Bellossom trying to shoot at Dragonite until Metagross appeared in front of them, attacking with Meteor Mash which was stopped by Luxray. The lynx was slowly being pushed back by the red metallic spider, Bellossom launched multiple blasts of Tri Attack at the Steel-type which did nothing before it went towards the flower.
"Luxray! Get Bell out of the way!" Tony commanded, his Pokemon grabbing Bellossom and throwing it out of the way before it took the blow that sent it flying. As Metagross shot a Flash Cannon at the fallen Electric-type, it was knocked aside by an Energy Ball which made the blast miss Luxray.
"Damn it. Dragonite!" Kuroi shouted in an annoyed tone.
"Bellossom! Hidden Power!" Bellossom quickly unleashed a barrage of energy spheres that were stopped by Metagross before Dragonite swooped in and punched the Grass-type before sending it flying with a Hurricane, roughly injuring it. As it was flying towards the city, Tony's Furret barely caught it as the pack of Luxio attacked the dragon only to be knocked out by a Psychic from Metagross.
"Shit!" Tony cursed before both him and Erika saw Dragonite appeared in front of them.
"Sucker Punch!"
"Energy Ball!"
Furret quickly intercepted with the dragon, the two clashing with each other until Bellossom shot an Energy Ball to knock it back. Before Erika and Tony were able to make their counterattack, Metagross shot a Flash Cannon while Dragonite unleashing a Thunderbolt, both blasts combining with each other to create an electrified laser that both trainers were barely able to dodge. Before they could voice their commands, they noticed Metagross spinning quickly towards them using Meteor Mash.
"Uh oh. Solar Beam!" The gym leader ordered, her Pokemon shot the blast but it was knocked away by Dragonite as it used Dragon Rush that sent Bellossom across the route, knocking it out cold.
"Bellossom!" Erika called out to her Pokemon, Tony noticing Metagross lunging at him which his Luxray was barely able to stop. As the gym leader returned her Pokemon and prepared her next Pokeball, Tony looked up to see Dragonite about to use Hurricane. "Erika, put up a wall with Gogoat's Bulldoze."
Erika looked at him before she followed and erupted a stone wall to stop the strong winds. He then pointed at the dragon, turning to Luxray as he spoke. "Thunder! Scar, Sucker Punch!"
The lynx was able to use the attack, summoning a bolt of lightning that barely did anything to the Dragonite which did not go unnoticed by Tony, Erika's Gogoat about to follow up with a Wild Charge but Metagross stopped it with a Psychic, much to their dismay. Before the Steel-type could use Flash Cannon, Furret hit the Pokemon with a Sucker Punch which caught it off guard.
"Good. Alright, Lux-" Tony said until it was frozen in place as well as Kuroi made his next move.
"Meteor Mash!"
Furret could not move when Metagross lifted its hand and used Meteor Mash, slamming its arm onto the Normal-type that implanted it to the floor, creating a crater. Tony saw his Furret covered in wounds and blood before he glared at Kuroi who smiled as his Pokemon floated to his side. "How do you plan to win this battle, Tony?"
Tony could only grit his teeth before he went for another attack which Dragonite took with no injuries before he noticed a veil around the dragon. 'That is not good.'
"Thunderbolt." Kuroi commanded, his Dragonite used the move that was about to hit the two but the blast was stopped by Luxray before he noticed Metagross coming towards them which was intercepted by Gogoat. Seeing their Pokemon struggling against Kuroi's monstrous titans, Tony's expression went serious before he decided to speak. "Erika, I got a plan. You can put up another wall?"
Barely deflecting a strike from Dragonite, Erika turned to him before she made her Gogoat create another wall of stone. "Alright, what are you thinking?"
"You remember the veils? They're back and more annoying because Metagross is stronger now." Tony crouched down and took a look into their situation. "I know. You got any Pokemon that could weaken those titans?"
"Yeah. Victreebel has Strength Sap. Tangrowth is still on standby and Gogoat is here." Erika stated which her partner nodded as he looked at his party. "And I have Dugtrio and Luxray is still able to fight but with the veils that Metagross is putting...I don't think we will be able to damage them without using too much power."
Dragonite used a Thunderbolt which Luxray was able to endure the attack before Gogoat clashed with Metagross, able to push it to the side with Horn Leech which did not go unnoticed by Tony. "How much Bulk Ups have your Gogoat used?"
"Two."
"Alright, we can stall for time and hold them off for a while..." Tony said as he took out an Ultra Ball which Erika noticed before before both him and Erika looked at each other with a smile which she returned. "You thinking what I'm thinking?"
"Are you sure about this?" She asked as he whispered into the Pokeball as it started to let out a dark aura. "That's a risky move."
"Yeah. But we don't have a choice." Tony said as he watched their Pokemon struggling against Kuroi. Erika noticed the grim expression on his face before she watched the fight as well before she sighed. "Alright. So what do you need?"
"I need some time before I can pull this off and for them to be in the same place. Just troll them like you usually do." He smirked as he was about to lift his hand towards her but stopped and put his hand down. "Alright, let's go."
Erika watched as he made Luxray retreat before he released his Dugtrio who unleashed a shield of stony spikes which Metagross bulldozed through them. Before it could attack him, Gogoat tackled it out of the way. As their opponent went for a Meteor Mash, the two happed on their Pokemon and moved out of the way of the attack.
"Alright, distract Dragonite. I'll deal with Metagross." Erika said to Tony who nodded before they both separated, Dugtrio using Stone Edge on Dragonite which it dodged. On the other hand, Metagross went against Erika and Gogoat, letting out her Victreebel who stopped it with Leaf Storm before Gogoat knocked it back with a Horn Leech.
The Steel-type used Psychic that slammed Victreebel to the ground, about to shoot a Flash Cannon which failed when the Grass-type covered itself with leaves to block its opponent's sight and moved out of the way. Metagross was about to attack again but it was stopped by a bunch of vines that came out of the ground.
Meanwhile, Tony was dodging Dragonite's attacks before it vanished until it appeared behind him, Dugtrio able to stop it with a stone wall before Luxray sent it back with a Thunder. He let out a smirk until Dragonite rushed towards them with Dragon Rush, pushing back both him and Luxray before he jumped out off the lynx.
"Full power Thunder, Luxray! Don't hold back!" Luxray unleashed a blast of lightning that hit the dragon. Tony smirked before Dragonite grabbed him, about to use Thunderbolt but it was stopped by a Poison Jab from Victreebel before it flung it away, the dragon letting go of Tony. "Thanks, Eri-"
"You better not get hurt. You were barely alive when I got you out of that hideout." Erika said in a cold tone, surprising Tony before he let out a shaky laugh. "D-don't worry. I'm going to be fi-"
"If you get so much as a splinter, I'm gonna make you regret it. Understand?"
"Y-yes, ma'am." Tony said with his gaze to the ground before he looked at his Pokeball. "Just a bit more time. You got this?"
Erika scoffed before she tapped her Gogoat's horn. "You should be more worried about yourself."
Kuroi watched as Erika parted from Tony, a huge smirk on his face as he targeted Tony. "Metagross, Flash Cannon! Dragonite, Dragon Ru-"
His Dragonite was hit by a Poison Jab from Victreebel that stunned it, Tony made his Luxray launch a Thunder that hit Metagross before slamming it to the ground with Strength. Meanwhile, he turned to his Dragonite to see it fending off attacks from Victreebel as he tried to fight against it only to notice his Metagross was being overwhelmed by Luxray's attacks.
Kuroi could only watch as both of his Pokemon were ruthlessly attacked by the duo he was facing before he turned to his Metagross who endured a Thunder.
"This is getting annoying." Kuroi said before his eyes landed on Erika, a small smile on his face. "Celadon Gym leader. Why is it that you're battling side with that trash I use to call a grandson?"
"Love you too, you old fart." Tony made a snide rebuttal while Erika was silent before she provided her answer. "I don't exactly have a choice of the moment. Your actions have been causing damage to the city and you have been hurting civilians. You're a danger to the city that needs to be taken care of."
"How do you know that the city will not be better under my control?" The old man pointed at the man beside her. "How do you know that he will be better? You know of what he did to you, right? What he did to your garden and your Pokemon? What he did to your sister?"
Erika would be wrong if she did not feel anything about what happened to her however she pushed it back. Seeing her reaction made Kuroi as he continued to egg her on. "Come on, gym leader. You should be against that man. The enemy of my enemy is my friend."
"Stop it!" Tony said as he made his Pokemon attack the man which was stopped by his Metagross before the old man's gaze went to Erika. "Don't you want to avenge your sister?"
"Shut. Up." Erika said as the elderly man continued with his hands outstretched. "I want for my family to be back to its former glory! Where we will have full control and take out anyone who defy us! Like that brat there."
Tony sneered at his remark, his Luxray attacking again with Thunder which was easily blocked by Metagross. "You see this? This power is a just a glimpse. We can get much more powerful if you hand over the boy to us. It will benefit you too. We will take care of anyone who is against you like that brat. Don't you want to help us?"
"Seriously now?" Erika turned to Tony who crossed his arms. "I know of your crimes in the past. And you want to continue those today? I don't think you understand but times have changed. And I'm trying to clean up the family name. Also, what happened to Erika was not done by me! I investigated into that situation and it was you, wasn't it?"
"I think you have me mistaken, boy. Don't tell you have forgotten about what you did. Metagross, let's make her reminisce the past please." Kuroi snapped his fingers, his Metagross unleashed a wave of telekinetic energy that pushed back Victreebel before it rushed towards Erika, freezing her in place as the elderly man cackled.
"Slam its head with Iron Tail!" At Tony's command, Luxray dashed around the place and about to attack the red, metallic spider before Dragonite intercepted. Erika tried to move before she looked at Victreebel who used Strength Sap to stop Metagross. Before they could do anything, the 'X' on Metagross' face glowed intensely before it exploded with psychic energy, engulfing both Tony and Erika into the blast as it did so.
Kuroi smiled when he saw a field of psychic energy surrounding the route, him being unaffected as he noticed several rocks floating in the air.
"Now relive your nightmares. I have a snot-nosed brat to catch." He said before he hopped on his Dragonite but it was stopped by Luxray who faced against him which made the man annoyed. Seeing that the lynx was not going to be taken down easily, Kuroi took out his phone and made a call. "Honcho! I need you to get our target for our clients."
"Yes, sir. Consider it done." Honcho said as he looked down as he went atop his Honchkrow and took to the air.
"...you're both gonna be ok..." Julia said as she saw the hospital in the distance, revving up the bike which caused Leaf to twitch uncomfortably. 'Almost there.'
Before they could reach the hospital, she felt an ominous presence around her before she looked at the sky, her eyes widened when she turned to see a Dark Pulse coming towards them. Julia's Weepinbell unleashed an Energy Ball that stopped the blast before she saw a barrage of black spheres coming towards them. "Oh no!"
"We need to get the hell out of here!" The other biker said, all of them dodging the blasts until Julia commanded her Weepinbell to use Clear Smog to hide them.
"How are we being attacked? I thought Havoc was taking care of Dread!"
"I don't know either but we need to go!"
As they were getting away from the barrage of attacks, Leaf's eyes widened when she noticed Red's body being levitated into the air. "Oh no...Red!"
Julia and the other biker noticed the hovering teen before they went to grab him but her arm got bitten by a Mightyena who flung her off the vehicle, making the motorcycle hit Julia's which knocked both her and Leaf off their bikes.
Falling off the bike, Leaf and Julia heard a noise before they noticed a pack of Mightyena approaching them, one of them biting on the biker's hand. "Ow! Shit! Venonat, Signal Beam!"
Venonat let out a Signal Beam that knocked back the hyena, the biker clutched her bleeding arm. "Damn. This hurts."
The pack of Mightyena growled as they walked up to the group, their mouths dripping with saliva as they bared their fangs. Seeing them ready to pounce, Julia made her move by making her Weepinbell spin around and use Sludge bomb that knocked back their enemies. Seeing the battle, Leaf looked around the place before she noticed Red's body being pulled away, she quickly released her Wartortle who went towards Red and used Protect to stop him from floating.
Julia noticed a Mightyena running towards Leaf, her Weepinbell shot an Energy Ball that knocked it back before she turned to Leaf. "Leaf, are you ok?"
"Yeah but something's been trying to take up Red." The brunette answered as they fended off against the Mightyena. She then quickly picked up Red, feeling the pain coursing through her stomach as she went to the motorcycle. "C'mon, you big lug. Let's go."
Before she could get back to the bike, the vehicle exploded in front of them which sent them flying and also surprising Julia and the other biker. "What the hell?"
"I do apologize for my rude interruption, ladies." Honcho said as he approached the group, tipping his hat as his Hypno floated beside him. "However I would like to request that you hand over Mr. Fires. We have business to discuss with the young man in private."
"Sorry but Red's on a date with me. Can't it wait until after we're done?" Leaf smirked, Julia taking advantage of the situation by making her Pokemon use Clear Smog and about to retreat which made Honcho frown.
"You should heed my warning." Honcho snapped his fingers, causing a barrage of shuriken to fly at the group, one of them grazing Leaf's leg and causing them to fall, letting go of Red who hit a wall.
"Don't bother leaving. I will be willing to wait while you and Mr. Fires will finish your little event." Honcho stated as he walked towards them, Julia about to attack but his Hypno glowed which made her and the other biker disappear, shocking Leaf. "What the fu-"
"You do not need to worry, Ms. Green. I've simply changed the venue for them. The same for your friend with the blue...Kim, was it?" The man said with a playful tone, Leaf's expression becoming serious as she took out another Pokeball. "Sorry but I like my events private and without adults getting into my affairs. Wartortle, Brick Break!"
"Attack! Water Shuriken!"
As they made their commands, a tall, blue frog appeared in front of them and threw a barrage of watery shuriken, Leaf flinging a Pokeball elsewhere before a bunch of vines grabbed her out of the way of the projectiles which made them hit the pack of Mightyena. Honcho's Pokemon continued to attack, Wartortle knocking away some of the shuriken with its Brick Break.
"What the heck is that?" Leaf wondered before she saw the Pokemon walk into the light which made her eyes widened. "A Greninja?"
Greninja created two frozen blades before it dashed towards Leaf but its attack was intercepted by Wartortle's Aqua Tail, the turtle hissing in pain as the blade started to pierce through its skin, causing it to bleed which worried its trainer. "Wartortle! Selia, Weather Ball!"
Roselia quickly shot a Weather Ball that Greninja easily dodged, blasting a few more but they missed the frog. Before she could blink, the amphibian appeared in front of her and was about to attack but its attacks was stopped by Wartortle's Protect before Roselia shot a Poison Sting which it easily evaded the attack, much to Leaf's surprise. 'I can't get around that speed. It's almost like its teleporting.'
"Selia, Giga Drain!" Roselia slammed its arms onto the ground that unleashed vines to attack Greninja who dodged the vines until it decided to slash through the vines before it almost sliced Roselia in two, making green blood seep from its chest as it fell to the ground.
"Selia!" Leaf screamed but she could not get the chance to return her Pokemon when Greninja stood in front of her with its blade raised at her neck. Honcho let out a sigh before he soullessly looked at the brunette. "I would like to finish this mission by taking Mr. Fires but with your persistence in this matter, I have no choice but to go to drastic measures."
It was about to stab Selia until suddenly, electricity started to travel through the puddles of water before it electrocuted Greninja, much to everyone's surprise. Leaf was surprised by this but she quickly snapped out of it and returned her Pokemon, turning to see Red who was slightly conscious with his Luxio beside him. "Red..."
"Leaf...go." He could barely word without blood seeping out of his mouth. "I'll...hold him off."
Greninja punched the ground, creating a wave of ice that froze the water on the floor. Not missing a beat, it rushed towards them with two Dark Pulse kunai, Red commanding his Luxio to use its Lightning Claws attack to intercept the attack. As they clashed with each other, Red clicked his teeth in frustration. "It's...so strong..."
"Who cares? We need to take this chance and-" Leaf picked him up and was about to leave before they heard Honcho's laughing.
"I think you're mistaken about something, Mr. Fires." The man said with a smile that confused the duo. "You are aware of Greninja's other arm, correct?"
Both of the teenagers' blood ran cold when they realized the situation, Greninja raising its other arm to charge a Dark Pulse. Before it could attack, a watery orb suddenly dashed from the shadows and clashed with its Dark Pulse, Leaf noticing Wartortle who used another Water Pulse which strengthen the orb. "Thank goodness! We're holding up."
"Well...not for...long. Greninja is...pushing them...back." Red said when he noticed both of their Pokemon being pushed back by the frog.
"Wartortle, Protect!" Leaf said, confusing both Red and Honcho. The Pokemon followed, unleashing a huge force field that pushed back Greninja which allowed Luxio to go for an uppercut which the frog barely dodged. The blue lynx flipped over before it unleashed a blast of lightning that the ninja frog blocked by using a huge water shuriken before throwing the weapon.
"Protect!" Leaf said as her starter went in front of them and used Protect to block the attack, cracks forming within the shield. "Hold on, Wartortle."
After a while, the shield was destroyed, Luxio suddenly leaped into the air before slamming its paws onto the shuriken which destroyed the watery projectile. The two teens shared a smile before Red noticed some small black pellets on the ground which made him shock before he touched Leaf. "Leaf…we need to-"
The orbs suddenly exploded, knocking back the teenagers as they tried to get up. Before they could move, more small black orbs came under them, quickly exploding but it did nothing to Leaf and Red which surprised Honcho. "How did they…"
He then noticed both Wartortle and Luxio surging with energy which made him able to connect the dots. 'So that's how it is. They reduced the shockwave of the attack.'
Greninja was about to attack again but the two Pokemon retaliated against it, the frog fended against the duo with its black kunai. While the battle continued, Leaf tried to pick up Red but it did not do much before they noticed they were surrounded by Mightyena.
"I won't allow you to leave." The two turned to Honcho as he made the pack of Dark-type Pokemon approach them. Seeing the grim situation around them, Red looked at the ground as he contemplated about their situation before he turned to Leaf, seeing the scars and bruises on her face and body which made him feel a mixture of anger and sadness. After a while, he took a deep breath before he tried to stand up. "Leaf...just leave me."
"Huh?" Leaf raised a brow. "Why?"
Red tried to push her off him and stand up but it failed when he kept her grip on him. "I don't want you to get hurt anymore. I can't allow you to get hurt. If I can just buy some ti-"
"Hell no! If you're going to fight, we do it together. Don't you dare give up like that. Alright, Red?" Leaf said, her tone coated in worry which made him feel guilty. He then decided to let out a shaky smile. "Not like this. Please, they don't want me dead. If I can stop all this or at least get him off your back then it would be alright. You can get backup."
"Red! You're not alone! I'm here! I care for you and I sure as hell ain't letting you go through this alone!"
"But-" Red was cut off when Leaf shot a glare at him and grabbed his collar. "No buts! I wouldn't do this for you if I didn't care for you! We talked about this at Cerulean. We talked about this at Vermilion. We talked about this at Lavender. We talked about this at the Rocket hideout. We're in this together and you're not gonna stop me! Do you not care about what I feel?"
"I do care! I also care about your safety!" Red shouted, accidentally spitting out blood which made him calm down. "I care for you, ok! I want you to live! I hate that you're hurt because of me! Please, I don't want you to get hurt! I will never forgive myself if you died because of me!"
"How touching. You should take his offer, Mr. Green. You can see that Mr. Fires care for you and your safety. He truly adores you, Ms. Green." Honcho said as he walked towards the two which angered Leaf. "Shut your face, hat trick!"
As she said that, Greninja pushed back both Luxio and Wartortle before it shot a barrage of needles which they dodged. Not giving their opponent a chance to attack again, Wartortle quickly punched the ground which caused an eruption of water that stopped Greninja before Luxio shot a blast of electricity that it barely dodged. The frog could move, the water around it transformed into a huge tornado, Luxio unleashing a Discharge that surged through the water and electrocuted Greninja.
"Red." Red looked at Leaf as she touched his face, giving him a glare. "We're gonna get out of here but you need to trust me, ok? You're not alone. I'm here with you. Any step of the way. We got each other. Remember our deal?"
"That I'm…stuck…with you?" Red said, Leaf smiled before she kissed him on the cheek. "Exactly. I'll watch your back and you'll watch mine! Ok?"
Red looked down before he looked around the place. "Ok. But please don't get hurt."
"You should be more worried about yourself. And I got a plan." Leaf said, Red nodded as he listened. Meanwhile, Greninja was able to freeze the water around it and neutralize the lightning with a Dark Pulse, much to Honcho amusement. "Please, Greninja. Don't hurt them too badly. Double Team!"
Greninja did a few hand signs which made it create copies of itself that faced the group, Red looking at them before he made his Luxio use Discharge which took out the mirages. Watching the battle, Leaf saw the clones throwing bombs on the floor which she commanded Wartortle to block with a Protect.
"Lightning Claws."
Before Greninja could make a move, it was immediately attacked by Luxio who relentlessly swung against it which it managed to dodge until it was pushed to a wall. The frog then decided to retaliate against the Electric-type, both Pokemon clashed with each other which caused shockwaves that knocked back the pack of Mightyena. During their bout, Leaf made Zorua attack the pack of Mightyena with a Snarl and Confuse Ray while Wartortle started to charge its Water Gauntlets.
"I'm surprised by the synergy that you two have." Honcho stated, Red watching the man's Greninja before he saw it in the light when it used Dark Pulse, his eyes widened when he saw the Pokemon's blue skin being black. 'What the? Is it a shiny? No, it was blue before.'
Greninja managed to slash Luxio's leg, about to stab it before it retaliated with a Discharge from its eyes which blinded its amphibian opponent.
"Luxio, attack." The lynx was about to attack Greninja who evaded its strike before a Mightyena was suddenly thrown at it, sending them to the wall. Pushing the hyena out of the way, the frog was able to regain its sight before it threw a barrage of ice needles, Luxio stopping the needles with a Discharge which made Red notice that the frog's skin is now a light blue.
'So that's it. It's ability is Protean.' Red thought in realization. Honcho, on the other hand, was surprised by the strength of Red's Luxio until he noticed the lynx beginning to glow as it waited for Greninja to attack which made him worried. 'So he trains it to the point where it charges its attacks while on standby without an order.'
"As I thought..." He said, catching both of the teens' attention as he snapped his fingers that made Greninja appeared in front of him as it closed its eyes as it summoned multiple water shuriken around its body before its hands unleashed a wave of icy mist that froze the shuriken. "...I can't allow you to continue this battle, Mr. Fires. Greninja, neutralize."
Greninja did as told as it threw a barrage of ice shuriken at the two teenagers, Red quickly taking out his capsule in the air. "Aero, get us...out of here."
The ball released the fossil who quickly unleashed a barrage of stone pillars that shielded them against the projectiles before it grabbed both Red and Leaf and took off into the air. 'What seems to be the trouble, Red? And why are you this injured?'
"I'll explain...later. We need...to get out of here. Ancient Power." Red could barely word out as Aerodactyl put them on his back, the Pokemon then glowing as they dodged Greninja's Water Shuriken and shot multiple blasts that hit the frog along with the pack of Mightyena. During the fight between Aerodactyl and Greninja, Leaf made her Zorua unleashed a barrage of Snarl which managed to weaken Greninja until it blocked the soundwave with a shield of ice spikes.
"Damn it." Leaf cursed while Red looked at the situation before he commanded his Aerodactyl to use Ancient Power, the fossil summoning a rock from the ground which hit Greninja in the stomach, knocking the wind out of it.
"Alright, Leaf! When you're ready!"
"Thanks, sweetie. Wartortle, Luxio, get ready!"
As Greninja fell to the ground and clutched its gut, Luxio was absorbing particles in the air with Charge while Wartortle was starting to glow as its Water Gauntlets became more powerful. During this, Honcho was unaware of them as he was trying his best to take down Aerodactyl with the group of Mightyena. "Don't think you're going to get away."
"You ready, Red?" Leaf looked at Red who nodded. The brunette smirked before she held Red's hand which surprised the ravenette. "Alright, time for our counterattack. Say goodnight to our team attack!"
Honcho was confused by this before he noticed Luxio and Wartortle in front of him, their aura twisting together as they prepared their moves.
"Lightning Tsunami!"
As the two teenagers shouted their command, Wartortle shot its Water Gauntlets at the same time that Luxio shot a powerful electrical beam, the two attacks fusing together to create a dual electrical water fists that travelled towards the Greninja, Honcho about to make his move. "Greninja, Water-
"Zori, Extrasensory!"
"Ancient Power!"
Gravity intensified around Honcho which sent both him and Greninja to the floor, the frog was soon unaffected by the move when it used Dark Pulse which turned its skin black, about to leap into the air before it was hit by a blast that sent it back to the ground. Before it could get the chance to move, it was hit by the Lightning Tsunami, the water battering it relentlessly along with it being electrocuted.
"Greninja!" Honcho said but he would immediately share the same fate as the attack hit him as well, hurting him as the attacks took out the pack of Mightyena with them.
"Good riddance." Leaf mumbled as she returned both her and Red's Pokemon before Aerodactyl sped off like a jet to escape towards the hospital. After several minutes of silence, they finally reached the hospital, making Aerodactyl descent to the ground as she took Red inside.
"Leaf, Red!" The girl heard a voice before she turned to see Julia who just entered the place, an unconscious Kim on her back which made the brunette let out a sigh of relief. "I'm glad that you're ok."
"So are we. Now let's get you guys patched up." Julia said as she went to call for the nurses who got stretchers for the three teenagers. Realizing that she is now safe, Leaf's feet turned to noodles as she fell to the floor as a sense of relief went through her body. "We got away, Red."
She heard no response which made her worried. "Red?"
She turned to her male companion to see that Red was asleep, the boy letting out light snores. She felt his pulse to see that he is ok which made her let out a sigh of relief until some nurses and their Pokemon picked them up, getting ready to tend to their wounds as the brunette simply flopped on the floor with a smile on her face as she let fatigue take control and put her body to sleep.
