I don't own The Loud House.
Welcome back to another chapter. Sorry for the delay, I recently moved homes and it's been a hassle just to get organized. I'm going to post what I was able to edit today and I'll update again in two weeks. Hopefully now I can get back on schedule. This chapter takes place from Sam's pov up until the end of chapter 3. I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did while writing it.
L Is For Love
Chapter 4: Broken Hearts
Sam turned around just as she heard Luna shout. She saw her standing next to Mazzy, who looked worried now. From her view point, Luna looked upset...and perhaps heartbroken. Not knowing what could have happened to cause that, she rushed over to her best friend in order to see if she could help, the letter in her hands momentarily forgotten.
"Luna, are you oka-" That was as far as she got before she felt Luna's hand strike her across the cheek. Stunned, she fell to her side from the force of the slap, her eyes wide with shock. She reached up and cupped her cheek, looking up at her friend who was now glaring at her with angry tears in her eyes.
"How could you..." She heard Luna say in a harsh whisper.
"W-What...what are you talking about? Why did you hit me?" Sam asked from her spot on the tiled floor.
"Dude, Luna, what the hell?" Mazzy asked as she rushed to Sam's side. "That's no reason to hit her!"
"She deserved it!" Luna spat. She aimed a finger down at Sam's face. "She's trying to seduce my baby brother, the fucking pedophile!"
"What!?" Sam shrieked as she stood up, almost stumbling to the floor once more. "What the hell are you talking about?"
"Like you don't know! That letter is from Linc!" Luna said, pointing to the letter that Sam had forgotten about. "You've been messing around with him behind my back!"
Sam gasped in shock. "I have not! Lincoln and I are friends!"
"Don't give me that bullshit! I can't believe that I didn't see this sooner! You're always calling him that dumb nickname." Luna continued on.
"It's because we both like Ace Savvy!" Sam defended but Luna wasn't having it.
"And whenever we're hanging out in my house, you're always asking him to join us." Luna said, jabbing a finger underneath Sam's chin. "You're always laughing at his dumb jokes and making googly eyes at him!"
"What are you talking about?" Sam asked, offended by Luna's accusations. "He's the only one in your family that can fill for a member of the band and he's funny, alright! He learned a lot of jokes from Luan!"
"I bet he filled you in real good huh..." Luna spat in a bitter tone.
Sam felt her heart break. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. Her best friend was accusing her of...of...she couldn't help it, she began to sob.
"H-How c-could you, Luna...?" She asked her.
"Tell me...how did it feel when you were fucking him behind my back knowing that I trusted you around him?" Luna spat, shoving Sam towards the lockers. Mazzy gasped and quickly moved in between them.
"That's enough, Luna!" She shouted as she stood protectively in front of Sam. "I don't know why you're spazzing out but you can't take this out on Sam, she's done nothing wrong!"
"Nothing wrong?" Luna repeated incredulously. "She's fucking an 11 year old boy!"
There were several gasps around the hallway as those nearby who were using their lockers before lunch was over started to listen in on their conversation. Several loud whispers began to spread and Sam was sure that by the end of the day, everyone would know that she was having sex with Luna's little brother even though it was a lie.
"Luna, shut up!" Mazzy said quickly, noticing the whispers and the murmurs from the slowly building crowd around them. "I don't know what your deal is but lying about Sam is going too far! She's not doing any of the things that you're accusing her of doing!"
"Then ask her who that letter is from, Mazzy." Luna demanded. She didn't care about lowering her voice anymore. She was hurting and she wanted to make someone pay for that hurt and Sam was part of the reason she was hurting in the first place. She felt betrayed because she had been crushing on her friend for years. She felt betrayed because it looked to her that Sam was only friends with her to get to Lincoln. To use her as a cover so that the world wouldn't look down at her in disgust. To look at her like the pedo that she was. Luna also felt betrayed because even though her brother had probably been seduced by that slut, he still sabotaged her attempt to confess. And while a part of her was begrudgingly glad that he did because it led to her discovering the truth, a larger part was hurting because it meant that her heart was now shattered to pieces.
Mazzy turned towards Sam and asked. "Who signed the letter, Sam?" Even though she knew Lincoln had delivered it. She had seen him do it after all.
Sam, with tear stained cheeks, looked from Luna to Mazzy. "L-Lincoln..." She whispered.
It was signed 'L.L' but there was a line in the poem that she knew only Lincoln could have written because it was an inside joke that the two shared. It never occurred to her that Lincoln had helped Luna write it. It never occurred to anyone that Lincoln had helped his sister to write a poem that would express feelings of love towards a certain teal streaked blonde rocker. And because it never occurred to them, because it never again crossed their minds, no one disputed the fact that Lincoln had written the poem. So caught up in the whirlwind heartbreak, anger, jealousy, love, and a myriad of emotions, everyone including Lincoln and Luna would accept it as fact. That fact would lead to what happened next.
Luna struck fast, faster than she had ever moved. It was a move that she would get her in trouble with the school but she didn't care. She was hurt and the person responsible had just admitted to being the cause of that hurt. At least, one of the people responsible. She swung her left fist and struck Sam just below the chin. Mazzy, who was too slow to stop the punch, pushed Luna away before she could swing again and it was at that moment that the teachers rushed in to break up the fight.
In the ensuing chaos, rumors would spread around the school about Sam, Luna, and Luna's little brother Lincoln. Rumors that would reach the ears of Luan, Lori, and Leni since they went to the same school. And by the time the day was over, Luna had been suspended from the high school pending an investigation that would determine whether or not she would be allowed back. Her parents had been furious with her while in the office until they heard the reason why Luna had struck Sam.
It was that reason that Sam, despite there being no proof, had also been suspended from school pending the investigation. Her parents were also furious but not with her, instead they were threatening to sue the school and the Louds for accusing their daughter of such a vile act with no proof whatsoever. Tempers were high, to say the least, and after dropping their kids off, the parents of both families had returned to the school to continue the discussion which wasn't much of a discussion as it was a shouting match between Sam's and Luna's mom.
Meanwhile, Sam was at her house sitting on her living room couch with her knees pulled up to her chest. She had been crying ever since she arrived home because she still couldn't believe what had happened. She couldn't believe that her friend, her best friend, had turned on her so quickly. That Luna had assumed the worst of her instead of giving her the benefit of a doubt and giving her a chance to explain herself. If the roles had been reversed and Simon had been the one to confess to Luna, Sam would have at least given her friend the chance to explain. She loved Luna like a sister! Or at least she did.
It was safe to say that after the events of that day that she no longer felt that way, or at least she wouldn't once she processed it all. And speaking of Simon, Sam heard the door open and the soft pitter patter of her brother's footsteps heading towards her. She glanced wearily in his direction and saw that he looked worried about her.
"Sis? Is...is it true?" He asked her with a bit of trepidation in his voice. Like he wanted to know the answer but was also terrified of knowing the truth.
Sam sniffed before she asked. "W-What did you hear?" Because she knew that gossip spread like wildfire and by now there must've been a million different rumors about her now.
"I heard that the Loud boy got you..." Simon began but stopped timidly. He wasn't sure how to say the next words or if he should say them at all. But he had to know, he had to so that he could help his big sister. They were family after all and family always stuck together. "That Lincoln got you pregnant..."
Simon was ten years old, a year younger than Lincoln and he even went to the same school as him. They got along okay but they weren't friends. It was more that they were friendly because their sisters were friends and that was it. But as Sam listened to her brother ask his question, she couldn't help but burst into fresh tears.
Simon took this to mean that it was true and he rushed in to hug his sister. "Oh sis, I'm so sorry."
"It's okay, Sy, it's okay." She heard her say with a watery voice. She didn't feel like it was okay, not when it felt like her whole world was crumbling around her. But as she embraced her brother, she took comfort in the fact that he would always have her back. And it was that thought that made her realize that Lincoln would need someone to have his.
She pulled away from Simon and patted him on the head. "Sy, I need to go. I have to see Lincoln."
"Why?" Simon asked, confused. As far as he was concerned, Lincoln was a dead man. He was going to make him pay for doing that to his sister when he saw him at school on monday.
"Because I know his family and they're probably not gonna have his back like you have mine." Sam said honestly. She blew her nose twice then she put on her shoes and headed towards the door. "Please don't tell mom or dad where I am."
"But sis, are you sure this is a good idea?" Simon asked. "What if you just end up getting hurt again?" He had noticed the bruise on Sam's chin.
"I'll be fine, Sy. I promise." Sam said, doing her best to look calm and collected in front of him.
With a nod from Simon, Sam departed from her home and made her way over to the Loud House. They lived rather close to one another, just a few minutes walk away. But as she made her way towards the Loud House, Sam began to think about how she felt about the whole situation. She was obviously still hurting, Luna's reaction to her finally getting a love letter had broken her heart. Sam had never confided in Luna about her feelings and fears about having never received a letter before. She felt now that if she had confided in her that maybe Luna would have been more understanding. Sam had no intentions of starting a relationship with anyone, not even with Lincoln, who she knew was a tad too young for her. She liked him well enough, he was a cool kid and she wished Simon and him would have become best friends. But she wasn't ready for a relationship and that hadn't changed after she read her first ever love letter.
She had planned to show it to Luna, hoping to giggle with her friend about finally receiving a love letter and maybe asking Luna for help to let her brother down easy. Sam had hoped that with Luna's help, Lincoln would see that she was too old for him and maybe help him find a girl closer to his age, someone like Tabby. But things seldom went how they wanted it to and that day had gone horribly wrong for Sam. And as Sam approached the front steps of the Loud House, she saw that that door was opened and she could hear shouting.
"See! He didn't deny that he thinks Sam is hot!" Sam heard Lola shout from inside. She was already walking up the steps when she heard Luna shout next.
"You fucker! You did this just so that you could fuck her, huh!? You prick! You fuck! You fucking bastard!"
Hearing Luna talk that way towards her own brother ignited a burning rage in the pit of Sam's stomach. She was furious with her now former best friend and she wanted to make her hurt. She wanted to make her pay and if Luna, the rest of the Louds, and the whole town now thought that she was dating Lincoln then she was going to prove them right just to spite them!
"That's enough, Luna!" Sam shouted from the doorway.
All eyes turned towards her and she saw that Luna looked both surprised and furious to see her there. She didn't pay the others any mind as she only had eyes for Luna and Lincoln. With a determined march, she made her way towards where Lincoln stood and cupped his face. Time slowed down and Sam felt a tinge of satisfaction when she saw the look in Luna's eyes. She could tell that the Loud rocker knew what she was about to do and it made Sam want to do it even more. She leaned down and kissed Lincoln as deeply as she could, sharing her first ever kiss with him.
For a moment, everything was quiet and then all hell broke loose.
End of chapter.
