Chapter 70 Infected Evolution

At Tokonosu City the place was quiet with the undead roaming the place, a guy was running around carrying a shotgun killing many of the zombies.
"Ha, like I would ever join Smart Brain and serve a kid." He said.
There are still some people that refused the sanctuary of Smart Brain of they're own beliefs, Judai called them fools since they are offered a safe place but they rather deal with the undead.
The guys walks foward and he drops some shells to the ground, he grabs them but then a giant shadow loams over him.
He looks up only to be hit away by a giant elephant as it kills him.
Meanwhile
Kohta was checking the surrounding area for anything using his sniper riffle. "Well it seems it's all normal."
He then stops and saw something come of the alley being a giant rat.
"What?!" He got shocked.
Saya came. "What's wrong with you."
They missed Ponyo as she was hidding somewhere inside of the Mall making them try to look for her.
"I just saw a giant rat." He said.
"Rats are always big." She was sick of hearing it.
"No, like it was the size of dog." He said.
"What?!" She takes binoculars and sees the thing. "How the heck does something like that exist?! Theres no way a rat can grow to become that big!"
"Maybe, it's the virus?" Kohta suggested.
"You think this infection can turn the animals into mindless monsters too!" Saya got mad.
"Well, that rat is kinda proof." He said.
She looks around and sees a undead dog growling and looks at Smart Brain, it then charges foward before a Riotrooper shoots it back.
The dog comes back up growling before many opened fire on it killing the thing.
"What the hell is that thing?!" A Riotrooper asked his partner.
"I don't know."
Saya thinks about this. "This changes everything, I thought that the zombies would have been the only thing we had to deal outside of Orphnochs, but now the animals are changing too."
"So would that make it harder?" He asked.
"Exactly, animals are not the same as humans, that dog showed as it acted more like it was before but it was going to attack anything that's alive, we didn't make a sound, instead it used it's smell to track us, some animals can even heal they're eyes. Which means they must also see us." Saya thinks about this situation.
"Oh man, we gotta tell Judai when he comes back." Kohta said.
"It would be better, we also have to tell the soldiers, we can't let this infection get the better of us. If it starts to grow we would be facing more dangerous creatures than those spiders even." Saya said.
Saya looks towards the city and thinks about any animals that could have been infected.
"The zoo." She said.
"The zoo?" Kohta said.
"That's the place where many animals are, those corpses must have eaten there, but this virus would have then spread to that place too, all the poor animals there turned into those freaks." She said.
"I used to go there with my parents, it's sucks those guys have to be lunch to the zombies." Kohta frowns.
"It happens, all we can do is hope for a better future." Saya said.
That is what they all have been trying to do, they can't change the past, but they can go for the future and get they're city back, before they can even think of changing the world.
"You know my favorite animal at the zoo was Oscar, he was the elephant many liked." Kohta smiles.
Saya frowns and saw something that surprised her. "Is that him?"
Kohta looks through his scope and sees a big elephant zombie charging foward hitting many cars away and zombies too while making sounds.
"Wait... Oscar!" Kohta was shocked.
"This virus made that elephant get even bigger." Saya said. "It's a good thing it's far away from here. We don't need a battle against it. But we need a plan to even stop it."
"We gotta tell the others about this " Kohta said.
"I know that stupid, we also have to take info to what we see, like how I managed to find out what the zombies did back in the school." Saya said.
She kept watching and how they can react, for now all she saw are the giant rats, dogs and the Elephant.
"They taken over the part of the city where the zoo is, more dogs are now around but that's to be expected since they're plenty which means theres more of those damn rats." She said.
This made her think, what can this virus do now, it's been a long time ever since it started, could this be a side effect to what Pest did.
He's been trying to make the human race become Orphnochs and the others become zombies.
Did he have a back up plan or did he mais the virus from something else.
Nearby a zombie was inside a alley, it groans, then it started to twitch and go crazy before it roared making sharp teeth come out.
It's skin starts to peel off as the entire skin of the face comes off revealing a brain.
It's hands became sharp claws and the clothes came off with the skin it had.
A large tongue comes out as the transformation was complete.
Decade was nearby and he saw the creature before it runs off.
"A Licker!" He got shocked to see it. "This virus was made from the T-Virus. Ugh Chris and Claire are not gonna like this."
He came to check on Faiz's world but now he saw more of the zombies are starting to become the ones of Claire's world.
"This is going to be bad, I need to tell her." He makes a portal and leaves the world.
The Licker crawls on top of the building and groans looking at Smart Brain with it's tongue swinging around.
What dangers shall happen to the world, as the creatures, the rules are starting to bend with the virus changing to face it's new threat.
Will they be able to face the new monsters find out next time.
Note: Yeah the virus is now mutating, with the same things from the T-Virus, the animal zombies are here, giant rats were a scrapped concept from Resident Evil that I liked since they were the ones that made the outbreak happen, we also saw a Licker appear through it's transformation as the zombies weren't a threat unless by numbers so I raised the stakes with the other infected creatures.
