A smile on his face, Gon quickly got up from his bed and got dressed, eager to begin his training.

As he made his way down the stairs, his enhanced smell instantly detected the fresh aroma of a home cooked meal.

He made his way to the table where he was greeted by his mentor and the mentor's wife.

"Hello Gon." The young woman greeted cheerfully. Gohan acknowledged the boy with a small smile and a nod.

"Mornin!" Gon grinned.

While the three ate, Gohan let his mind wander.

'Gon must be pretty talented if my dad recommended me to train him. Honestly, the only reason I agreed is because I haven't seen him that excited since we got rid of Buu. Plus this would help me stay in shape, just in case anything happened. Not that I haven't already been training, Dad practically comes over at least every weekend to spar.'

Gohan gave a side glance to Gon.

'Although I have to admit, there is something about him...'

The three finished their breakfast, Gon stood from where he sat and turned toward the woman.

"Do you need some help with the dishes?" He asked politely.

The woman smiled warmly at him and gave him a playful wink.

"Nah, I'm good kiddo. You two go have fun." She grinned.

Gohan smiled as he ran outside with his new protégé.

"Thanks, Videl!" He cried out.

"Stay safe boys!" She yelled back.

The two spiky haired males reached the outside of the house.

"Alright Gon, you ready for your first training session?" he asked.

The boy nodded excitedly.

"Yeah! Let's do this!" he said, feeling excited.

Gohan smiled and began to speak.

"Alright then. Considering how strong both of us are, we are gonna need a safer place to train in, so you and I are gonna be heading over to a secluded mountain region that I used to train in with my teacher."

To Gon's amazement, Gohan began to levitate off the ground.

"Are you ready to go?" he asked

"YOU CAN FLY?!" He screamed, practically bouncing in excitement.

Gohan smiled, "I guess we'll have to work on that! Alright then, hop o- Oof!"

Gohan gasped as Gon wasted no time hopping on his mentor's back.

"Well you're eager aren't you?" he asked.

The two flew for about half an hour before arriving at their destination.

They likely would have arrived sooner, had Gon not insisted on flying, 'for just a bit longer!'

Gohan landed softly on the ground, with Gon hopping off and bouncing around, observing his surroundings.

Gohan cleared his throat and got his attention.

"Alright, Gon, Here's what we'll do: We are going to have a quick spar just to see what you are capable of during a fight. The rules include, no punching beneath the waste down, and no ki either. The first one of us to get knocked out or give up loses. Understand?"

Gon nodded and grinned.

"Sure! Sounds like fun!" he laughed, as he steadied himself.

Gohan made sure he was far enough away from his opponent before slipping into his stance, making sure to cover up as much as possible.

"This spar will last for at least one minute, so if you're ready?" Gon nodded, tightening his stance.

"Set…" Both fighters got rid of any ki covering their bodies.

"Fight!"

Just as the word had been announced, both master and student seemingly disappeared out of sight, before rematerializing in front of each other and began a rapid exchanging of blows.

During the exchange, Gohan made sure to take note of his student's movements, as to analyze what they would need to improve.

'Not bad. He definitely knows how to fight, but his technique is sloppy at best.' Gohan thought.

Just before Gohan could land a punch, Gon quickly ducked, and back flipped in order to separate himself.

The boy then immediately began charging at his opponent. Attempting a punch on Gohan, The mentor easily dodged to the side, and delivered a roundhouse kick to the boy's face, sending him flying.

Gon firmly jabbed his right hand to slow his velocity, sending a hail of dust flying from both sides.

As soon as his green boots touched the ground, he immediately dashed back to where Gohan was, and threw himself into the air, attempting a side-kick.

Gohan easily ducked, and handed Gon an uppercut.

The boy just barely blocked the blow before, again, skidding back.

Gohan narrowed his eyes, and again began evaluating his student.

'He pulls his attacks back way too much. It practically screams what he's about to do.'

Gon jumped into the air and attempted an axe kick, but before he even came close, Gohan materialized in front of him in midair, grabbed him by the shirt and harshly threw him back to the ground. Causing him to skid on the ground which sent dust flying. He managed a somersault in order to get back on his knees.

'Now let's see his defense!'

No sooner had his feet touched the ground, Gohan charged at his opponent.

Gon took a punch to the face which sent him flying into the air, and Gohan quickly gave chase.

Materializing above Gon, Gohan swung his fist down, albeit while holding back immensely. Gon barely had enough time to raise his hands before being sent rocketing to the ground.

Gohan landed and viewed the crater formed from his blow to Gon. He saw the young boy stand and walk back up to the side of the crater, looking out of breath. But with an excited grin.

'This has easily got to be one of the best fights I've ever been in! He is so strong! I really gotta be more careful or else I'm gonna go down faster than when I fought Goku.' Gon thought.

Gohan ran toward his opponent, and attempted a sweep kick which tripped Gon and then proceeded with a hard left hook.

Gon however, now more focused, managed to block the attack and quickly regained his balance. He rapidly charged back at Gohan attempting a punch at his face.

Gohan blocked and countered with a right hook, which Gon managed to block before being sent to the side.

Side flipping, Gon quickly recovered and kicked the ground to launch himself into Gohan.

Gohan couldn't help but be surprised.

'His performance is suddenly much better. Could it be possible that he was holding back? Or maybe he's just a slow starter?'

Gon feinted a right hook, and attempted to give Gohan a head butt, which Gohan still blocked.

Jumping down from the air, Gon rubbed his hands on his forehead in pain.

Gohan raised a brow at him.

"Maybe you should try not to do that. You could give yourself serious brain damage you know…"

Gon internally decided the same thing.

The boy jumped back just as his mentor attempted to swing his fist at him, and charged back when his feet landed on the ground.

Gohan narrowed his eyes, noticing a pattern in his student's strategies.

'I see what he's trying to do. Whenever he fights, he always tries to overpower his opponent. He wants to assert his strength over theirs and completely annihilate them.'

Gohan's deduction was confirmed, as, when he once again swatted his student away, the boy immediately got back up and charged.

'Sorry Gon. That strategy may have served you in the past, but it won't work with me.' he thought, as he jumped high into the air to avoid Gon's strike.

Landing gracefully on his feet, Gohan quickly side stepped a punch from his disciple.

Gohan narrowed his eyes in focus. "Time to finish this!"

With lightning fast reaction, Gohan grabbed Gon's fist, pulled him, and gave him a quick chop to the neck.

Gon, already exhausted from the fight, immediately fainted.

Drawing in a sigh, Gohan relaxed his stance.

The battle was over.

As he laid him gently on the ground, Gohan took the time to think about everything he would need to teach Gon in order to make him improve.

'I know dad said Gon had potential, but this is insane! This kid is definitely going places as a martial artist. Alright, let's list all the pros and cons.

Pro: He has incredible potential, especially for a human his age! He seems to have had martial arts training beforehand, and has an insane recovery speed. Not only that but he also has amazing adaptability. While we fought, it was almost as if, like, he was somehow getting stronger as he fought. I… Have never seen anything like it. Well, except with Goten and Trunks, but those guys are half saiyan!

Now for the cons…

His fighting style is… alright, but it could still use a lot of tweaks. He was way too reckless in his fighting style. From what I could see, he seems to favor close combat and tries to overpower his opponent with brute force. I'll have to teach him strategy. I'll even get videl to help, that way, when I'm at work, She'll cover lessons I'll have to miss.'

Gohan rubbed his head gently through the breeze and waited for his student to wake up, so that they could begin working on his flaws.
