The Ox-King smiled while overlooking his village.

He drew in a breath of fresh air as he saw the people going about their daily business, living life in their own happy way. It had taken quite some time to earn their trust, due to his past greed and ruthless nature.

Past traits he was not proud of having possessed.

He remembered when he had changed. It was when a certain young child came to his burning castle, having saved both his daughter, and even reuniting him with his old master.

Master Roshi had once again reminded him of his greed and how it had negatively affected both him and his poor daughter.

Ox King clenched his fist tightly, at the thought of his foolishness causing such a negative impact on his only daughter, how the villagers feared her, even though her heart was that of kindness and justice.

He then smiled, remembering how his little girl had bravely (and recklessly) offered that she would find Master Roshi and bring back the Bansho Fan. As well as how smitten she'd been with her savior.

She had changed quite a bit since that day, gaining the resolve to take her training more seriously. He was also impressed at how well she had been able to court Goku into marriage. Patiently teaching him everything there was to know about being a husband.

He was proud of how she turned out, as well as how his grandchildren had turned out.

He was ready to go back into his home, until suddenly; he heard a familiar sound through the air.

Grinning, he saw that it was, indeed, the Flying Nimbus. And on it was his beautiful daughter.

The woman skillfully jumped from the yellow cloud, performing a front flip, before extending her arms and landing in the caring arms of her father.

"Heya sweetheart!" He laughed heartily.

Chi-Chi giggled. Smiling at her ridiculously large parent.

"Hi, Dad!" She replied.

The Ox King lifted his only daughter up into the air.

"What brings you here sweetheart?" He asked.

She smiled at him. "Can we go inside? I want to make sure no one hears us."

The man, while confused, gladly replied with his daughter's request. The two went inside of the makeshift house that had been their home ever since Master Roshi had obliterated the mountain.

Chi-Chi sat down at the table, waiting for her father who was brewing tea in the next room.

As she sat alone, She began to think carefully about what she was about to do, as well as why.

'Am I really doing the right thing here?' She wondered silently. Invading the privacy of children she had been training for a week now was not an easy thing to do for her.

But then Chi-Chi's mind wandered to all of the horrors her and her family had dealt with. King Piccolo, Frieza, Cell and Majin Buu.

'Even still, does that justify my actions? They seem like great kids. And I already feel guilty enough to the point where I don't even want to consider the idea of manipulating it out of Alluka…'

The former princess had developed a rather close bond with the girl of the group. As the week went on, she herself even became quite protective of her. Despite that, there was clearly a deep darkness nestled deeply within the girl.

Chi-Chi shook her head. Remembering that detail, guilty determination coursed through her eyes.

'The world is a cruel place. For all I know, they could be some of Frieza's brainwashed sleeper lackeys, or robots, or whatever! Those kids are not normal and they are clearly hiding something. I can't take any risks. Not after everything that's happened.'

She shuddered to remember all of the destruction. All of the deaths. Including her own.

She had to do this. If not for herself, then for her family and friends.

She chinned up and smiled as her father re-entered the room, tea in hand. He laid them out on the table and they began eating. A comfortable silence settling in.

Ox-King looked at his daughter.

"So? How are you and the boys doing?" He asked.

Chi-Chi looked up from her plate to face the older man.

"I'm very well, thank you. Goku is more excitable than usual, and Gohan seems to be doing fine. Knowing Goten he's probably having a blast out there! I just hope he's okay…" She sighed worryingly.

Ox-King gave her a reassuring smile.

"I'm sure he's fine! That boy is resourceful like his parents."

He took a sip.

"Still though, Goku more excitable than usual? Did he meet another strong opponent?" He asked, curious.

Chi-Chi smiled.

"You could say that. He's actually met three children who were seeking him out to become stronger. He's more excited because two of those three have extraordinary fighting talent. The third one is strong too, but not nearly as much as her traveling partners." She said, before taking a sip from her cup.

"Oh?" The Ox King inquired.

Chi-Chi decided it was time she told her father the truth.

"It all started just last week. I was going about my day as per usual, and then suddenly, three kids are at my doorstep! The first thing they said is that they wanted Goku to train them."

Ox King looked surprised.

"Huh. Goku teaching his own students? I always thought Krillin was the one who would end up teaching." He mentioned, while looking down.

Chi-Chi shrugged.

Ox King then looked back at his daughter.

"So who are they? What are they like?"

Chi-Chi let out a small smile.

She told her father about the children.

Killua: 12 years old and the older brother of the girl.

Alluka: 9 years old and the younger of the two siblings.

And last but not least…

Gon: Same age as Killua.

Chi-Chi also explained everything that had happened after they had arrived. She told him about how they had met the children, How Goku agreed to train them, and most importantly, she told him about all of the questionable information they had given them as to their origins.

She spent an hour talking about the matter and expressing her opinions. Telling him about how they were far too powerful and talented for being human children.

Ox King rubbed his chin thoughtfully.

"That does sound a bit sketchy… So how can I help you honey?"

Chi-Chi sighed.

"If it is possible, I want you to use your connections to find out if those places actually exist. And if so, to check if they've ever heard of the children's names." She said tiredly.

Ox King smiled gently at his daughter. Placing his large hand on her shoulder.

"Thanks for agreeing to help dad. It's just… After everything that's happened, I really don't know who to trust anymore."

Ox King nodded. "Honestly I don't blame you. You are just looking out for your family honey." He said comfortingly. "You're handling it a lot better than I would have that's for sure!" He laughed.

She giggled slightly, a weight lifted from her shoulders.

"So This 'Gon' is staying with Gohan, huh?"

She nodded.

" Yes. Goku managed to convince Gohan to take him under his wing for the month quite easily."

Ox King smiled.

"The kid is definitely a daddy's boy, alright. I'm really not surprised he agreed to it so fast." He asked.

Chi-Chi simply laughed and nodded. However that did not stop the worry for her son.

As if reading her mind, Ox-King stood, picked his daughter up and held her close.

"Don't worry honey; Gohan is more than strong enough to handle himself." He spoke comfortingly.

Chi-Chi smiled and leaned against her father's shoulder.

Deep down, though her heart was laced with fear, a small glimmer of hope remained.

CHAPTER END

I wanted to use this chapter for context as to explore more of Chi-Chi's character. I really did not like the direction the original manga went with. I just really feel like there was so much they could have done with her character as a whole.

What do you guys think? Please leave a review and let me know what you think about what I did with Chi-Chi. And be sure to stick around for more,

DRAGON HUNTER ZX!

P.S.

In case you were wondering from the last chapter, I do NOT like Hot Dogs more than Hamburgers.

I will forever be a burger baby.
