Late at night in the Son household, Chi-Chi sat by the kitchen, the phone held close to her ear. Everyone else had already gone to sleep after a hard day of training. Goku's snoring could be heard even from outside their bedroom.
She sat in a small chair, slowly rubbing her thumbs around her eyes.
On the other side of the phone, her father let out a disappointed sigh. "From what my sources could gather, there's never been any small village called 'Kukuroo Village'." He explained, pausing for a moment. "They did find a chain of islands off the east coast of East City. One of them was called 'Whale Island', but it's a military base. No one but soldiers and sometimes their families are allowed to live there."
Chi-Chi nodded. "I see."
"Sorry I can't help more hun." He said, slightly bashful.
Chi-Chi dismissed this though. "Don't worry. Next week I'll make sure to ask Bulma about it. Maybe she'll find where the village is. Thanks for the help dad."
"Alright. Call me if you need anything else. Love you honey."
"I will. Love you too." She hung up.
As Chi-Chi made her way to bed, her mind began to theorize and ponder what she currently knew.
It would seem that Whale Island did, indeed, exist. That said, it would be wise to check in with Gohan and Videl. Considering that they've already spent a week with Gon.
It wouldn't surprise her if Gon had gone into more detail about his life with them. Especially considering how Gohan mentioned how well the three of them were getting along. Gon and Videl especially.
Which brings her to her next point...
The current theory would be that Killua and Alluka had lied about their origins.
Could this mean that they're keeping the truth from Gon as well? And if so, for what purpose? Although it was just as likely that Gon was helping them by keeping quiet about it.
While she had no clue as to their past, she could guess that it wasn't conventional.
Killua didn't have the youthful demeanor of a child his age. He was calculative, calm and careful. He was constantly on edge. Always on guard and keeping his eye on things. An interesting fact she had come to learn about the young man is that, no matter how hard she tried, she could not hear his footsteps.
That wasn't something someone is born with. That's a skill. A skill earned through many years of training.
From the moment they met, He had been careful in what he chose to tell her. From his origins to how had become as strong as he had to even how they both ended up with Gon.
One thing was certain. Something she truly believed as time rolled on and as they stayed here and that was that they were no threat.
Gon was too earnest, kind, and eager. He wore his heart on his sleeves and she could tell just by his mannerisms that he wasn't a good liar.
While it was possible that Killua was lying to him as well, she had also sensed their energy. While Killua and sometimes Alluka's aura had a certain degree of darkness in it, she could not sense malice in either of them.
As she had begun to form a bond with them, she noticed Killua had started to let his guard down slightly more around her. While he clearly did not want her finding out about his past, it also didn't seem like he wanted to hurt anyone...
His serious, stoic, and forcefully polite facade began to wither. Underneath it all, Chi-Chi had discovered a boy who clearly cared for his sister and friend. He was respectful, a tad bit anti-social, and quite witty and clever.
Alluka was an honest, spritely girl, hungry for knowledge. She was intelligent and picked up on things quickly, but she was self aware of her potential not being as high as her brother's and thanks to this, has been developing a bit of an inferiority complex. Something she planned to help with, of course.
But that darkness in Alluka's eyes… The darkness she saw less frequently but still on occasion, left much to discover.
Sometimes, when that darkness was present, Alluka's personality would warp into something different. She became more soft spoken and yet her voice carried an air of unquestionable confidence. Her enthusiasm dimmed as it was replaced with an unnerving calmness.
She did not know why Alluka would sometimes change the way she acted. Nor why she could sense… something different, in her energy whenever she did. Something she could not fully describe. Now though, she at least knew that whatever was causing Killua to remain silent about what he and Allluka had gone through was not to hide an evil scheme, but rather to avoid their past.
What sort of secret were they keeping? Was it a sad childhood? An uncomfortable truth that they ran away from?
Did it seem so weird that they probably thought they wouldn't believe them?
As Chi-Chi sat in bed, making to lay down beside her husband, she wondered that if that was the case, they would be more comfortable telling them if they knew the absolute insanity her husband had to deal with all throughout his life alongside his friends and family.
I mean, Aliens? Killer cyborgs? Time Travel? A giant dragon that could grant wishes? There was no way it could get crazier than that. At this point, Chi-Chi wondered if anything could make her surprised anymore.
With all of the lunacy she and her loved ones went through, she doubted it.
Besides, opening up goes both ways.
She sighed and closed her eyes, adjusting her position on the bed to make herself more comfortable. She slowly but surely fell asleep.
She let a small smile pass her lips before dozing off, remembering that there was a certain someone who was coming home...
Next day, in the afternoon.
Killua was proud of himself.
As usual, he was made to climb up and down the mountain three times. As the weeks had slowly passed by, he had felt less and less tired each time he finished.
Now that he thought about it, While he did feel a bit winded, he was nowhere near as exhausted as when he started. He had also gotten faster at it too, as the sun was still up even after he did the exercise.
And that wasn't all.
He could sense a massive increase in his aura expansion!
His En had always been his greatest weakness during combat, (Well aside from the needle his damn brother had placed in his brain but he removed that so he wasn't counting it anymore) And Goku, during their spar, had noticed this.
While it was a simple idea, it was good in execution. Effective too. As Killua could now tell.
Suddenly, he stopped moving. His eyes narrowed as his sharp new senses and En were able to detect something.
A life signature.
It was elevated, so it was probably watching from the trees. His En picked up a few leaves falling from the impact of this person no doubt landing on a branch.
'Hmm. No malice. The aura seems innocent in whatever it wants.' Killua thought.
The energy felt rather similar to Goku's, yet distinct. It did not feel as honed and trained but it was powerful. It gave off a youthful sensation, sort of like Alluka's. Overall, it was more unrefined compared to his teacher's ki.
"Oye! Who's there?"
He felt the energy come closer. From the loud thud and the crunching of leaves, Killua could tell that it had just jumped down from the tree it was standing on. Now it felt like he was standing in front of him. Slowly approaching, the figure stopped for a moment.
"Um… Hi." The voice announced himself awkwardly.
'Definitely a kid.' He identified from the youthful voice. 'A small boy. What's he doin all the way out here?' Killua wondered.
"Yo. Who are you?" He asked, nonchalant.
"My name's Son Goten. What's your name?"
Goten…
Where had he heard that name before..?
'Wait. Oh yeah, that's it! He must be Goku and Chi-Chi's son. The one they said left to go travel two weeks before they met us. Right… So I guess his one month of adventure is over then. He's probably just making his way back to the house.' He figured out, relaxing his stance.
"Name's Killua. You're Goku and Chi-Chi's kid, right?"
Goten smiled before replying. "Yeah! You must be one of my dad's students. That explains why you're wearing one of the training shells. That's a really heavy one too!" He said, before pointing at his face.
"Why do you have a blindfold on though?" He asked.
"Ah." Killua adjusted the cloth covering his eyes. "Goku said I need to hone my senses more. Said it'd help hone my senses."
"Oh. That makes sense. Sorry for spying on you, by the way…" He apologized. "But man! You found me pretty quickly. I'm sure you'll be stronger in no time!" Goten complimented.
Killua smiled. "Thanks. I'm guessing you're heading home?" He inquired.
"Oh, yeah. And just in time for lunch too! If you hurry up, I'm sure mom would love to give you something to eat." He mentioned. "Dad also said that mom was training your younger sister. Her name's Alluka, right?"
Killua nodded. "Yeah. You two are the same age, aren't ya? I'm sure you'll make great friends." He noted.
Goten nodded and turned his back to Killua. "Sounds good to me!" Goten smiled, agreeing. He was excited to finally have another friend his age that wasn't just Trunks.
If they got along well enough, maybe he could introduce the two.
"Hey I'm gonna get going now. I'll see you at the house!" He announced, before bouncing back into the trees.
"Yeah. See ya!" Killua cried back.
He felt Goten's energy get farther and farther away. He hoisted the turtle shell on his back and began to walk at a slow pace once again.
'Maybe having a new friend will cheer Alluka up.' He wondered.
Alluka, while seemingly acting like she normally would, still had the weirdness that Killua had seen on the day he woke up to her face with tears as she slept. As the week rolled on, Killua noticed that his younger sister was becoming more distant with him.
He knew something was wrong.
What should he do?
He didn't like seeing her like this. But at the same time he wanted to respect her privacy and not come off as nosy.
...
'If something doesn't change in the coming week, I'll ask her. Until then, I'll give her a little more space.' Killua decided.
Wanting to stop thinking about this, he set a more brisque pace. As he began walking toward the house, he forced himself to think on other matters. Such as wondering if there would be enough food left for him...
SNAP!
The broken stick fell to the ground. Alluka huffed in frustration before setting her gaze on Chi-Chi.
"Oops. Looks like you broke it." She said, "Let's try again."
Chi- Chi winded up her arm, and tossed another stick with mild force. Alluka quickly went back into her stance, and…
SNAP!
The stick, once again, fell to the ground.
Broken.
"What am I doing wrong..?" Alluka muttered, exhaustion lacing her voice.
Her mentor, after breakfast, had had Alluka run 10 miles, with only one break in between. Afterwards she had to shadow spar while being instructed on technique. One break later, and now she was doing… this.
Punching sticks.
Without breaking them.
And all of this would have been fine. Alluka really did love to improve herself. The problem lied with the turtle shell on her back. The same dreaded thing that Killua had made her use. While she could see the purpose of it, she still wasn't happy with it
Chi-Chi walked toward the young girl, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"You're putting too much strength behind your attacks."
Alluka looked at Chi-Chi, her stance now lowered. "I know. But this is how to punch things, right? Shouldn't breaking it be a good thing? Why would I try to punch something and not want to break it?" She asked.
Chi-Chi smiled, knowingly.
As a child, she had to deal with issues very similar to Alluka's. She was born stronger than most of the other kids, and controlling that strength, as well as learning to rein herself in, was always a quick path to frustration for her. Especially considering the fact that she had been pretty easy to piss off.
That said, considering that Alluka was much stronger than she herself had been and is right now, she understood that this would be far more troublesome than when she was young.
"Well… Let's say that you were fighting against a normal person." She started. "If you punched him or her with one of your normal punches, it would seriously injure them. Right?"
Alluka paused, taking that fact into account. She nodded, quickly understanding the purpose of the exercise. "Oh... I get it. So controlling how hard I hit helps me take out weaker opponents without, You know..."
Chi-Chi nodded, pleased that she understood so quickly. "That's right! Now, I'm going to give you a few pointers as to what you can do to not break it."
Alluka blinked, and motioned for her to continue.
"To start, try to analyze how strong the stick is." She explained, throwing her palm out. "When I throw the next stick at you, don't hit back. Instead, just hold your hand out and block it."
Alluka, paying rapt attention, emulated her teacher by holding her hand out. She understood that letting the stick hit her hand would help her recognize the strength of the stick.
"After that, try to hit the next stick with just enough force to stop it. Not break it. Match the blow's power with your own, making them cancel each other out."
"Okay." Alluka said. "I'll try it that way."
Chi-Chi went back to her stack of wood. Picking up another piece of wood, she reared her hand back once again. "Remember." She reminded her, "Just block it for now. Pay attention to how much force there is and the velocity of the throw."
"Right!"
The stick came and bumped into Alluka's hand. Letting it fall to the ground, Alluka looked at her palm, letting the feeling of the impact settle into her mind.
"Alright. Are you ready for the next one?" Chi-Chi asked.
Alluka took a moment to breathe and focused on her hand, letting it form a fist.
Taking a moment to prepare herself, allowing the strength in her fist to lessen, Alluka smiled. "Yeah! Go ahead." She announced, settling back into her stance.
Again, the stick came. Alluka watched with as much attention as she could muster.
She threw a punch, trying her best to match the speed of the object coming toward her. Her punch and the stick collided and...
Crack
Alluka looked at the fallen figure and, much to her joy, it hadn't broken. Completely. While it almost had, one half was still holding on to the other by several threads.
Chi-Chi smiled in approval. "Nice. It didn't completely break this time." She affirmed, before looking down at her watch.
"Oh! It's almost lunch time." She announced. "I guess we can stop here for now. Afterwards, we'll keep working on this. Does that sound alright?"
Alluka immediately perked up. Before she darted toward the house, she motioned to her back. Chi-Chi gave a chuckle and smiled at her.
"Yes you can take it off. But when you resume you put it back on. Got it?"
"Yes!"
Letting the shell smash to the ground carelessly, Alluka quickly ran inside the house, Chi-Chi looking at her amused.
"Well. She regained her energy quickly."
Following inside, she made her way toward the kitchen. Seeing that she had already started setting the table, She nodded in appreciation and began to cook.
As Alluka finished setting the table, she began to assist with cooking by passing the ingredients over to Chi-Chi.
Minutes passed as the food kept piling on, Alluka began to struggle with trying to organize all of the food on the table. Eventually, she looked over at her teacher.
"Don't you think we're making a bit… much? I mean, We're already coming close to making the usual portion… Is Goku hungrier or something?"
"Oh, no." Chi-Chi said, shaking her head. "My son is coming back today. He eats quite a bit too. He gets his appetite from his father."
Alluka's eyes perked up. "Oh! You mean the son who went to travel? Goten, right?"
"That's him." She confirmed, a twinkle of excitement in her eyes. "I can't wait for him to get back! I really want to hear about everything he's learned on his adventures." She gave a brief look over at where Alluka was standing. "Not to mention, I'm sure you two will make great friends."
Alluka smiled gently back. "You think so?"
"Of course. He knows a lot about nature. I'm sure he'd be happy to let you play with him in the forest with all his animal friends."
"That sounds cool!" She smiled. The thought of playing with someone her age was exciting to her. For as long as she could remember, she never had any other people to interact with besides her family and the servants.
When Killua and Gon broke her and Nanika out, things changed. While the both of them indulge her often with games, they were both still older than her.
Their brief stay in a couple of towns and villages never lasted long, given that Gon and Killua, (Although the latter probably won't admit it,) Were too adventurous to stick around for long. It also didn't help that her psychotic older brother often went looking for them. As such, She never had time to make friends.
Of course, there was Nanika.
The entity had grown so independent that she couldn't help but feel more distant from them, despite their insistence.
She frowned as she remembered their conversation.
It hurt her to think that both of her partners did not love her as much as they said they did. And if that was the case, who COULD she trust? Would she even want to make friends with anyone anymore?
Was it possible that everyone she ever met would try to make her useful to them in some capacity? Even without knowing about her abilities?
'At least I can count on Nanika…'
Nanika would never betray her.
They have gone through everything together. They had a bond that would last their entire lifetime.
All she had to do was help Nanika make the wish.
Then, just as it had said, they would never have to face danger ever again. They would be able to be loved and cease doubting any kind of double edged feelings.
Minutes later, after a while of cooking, there was a knock on the door.
Sensing the familiar energy, Chi-Chi let out a bright smile. She turned over to Alluka. "Keep going. If you run out of space, there's a small mini table in the door over there." She advised, pointing to the left of the door to the living room.
Alluka nodded while Chi-Chi walked at a fast pace toward the entrance.
'She seems excited…'
A minute or two passed before Chi-Chi made her way back into the kitchen, a positive demeanor radiating through her mannerisms. Alluka looked at her questioningly. Chi-Chi threw her a small grin before her eyes darted to her right, lifting her finger up to beckon the newcomer in.
A young boy, who was a few inches smaller than Alluka, came into the kitchen. He wore a good amount of equipment and a large backpack. In terms of physical appearance, Alluka couldn't help but compare him to Goku. Only... smaller.
"Hi. I'm Goten!" He introduced himself. "You're Alluka, right?"
"That's me." Alluka replied nervously, forcing herself to smile. Goten held out his hand for a handshake to which she took it.
As the two acquainted themselves with one another, Chi-Chi moved past them to continue cooking. "Thank you for the help, Alluka. You two go ahead and hang out, alright? Lunch will be ready soon."
"Thanks mom/Chi-Chi!" Both of them cried out before turning their attention back toward each other.
"I ran into your brother on the way here! He seemed really cool. I hope the three of us can play together sometime."
"Sure! I'd love to." Alluka nodded. "So… is there anything you wanna do..?" She asked, not knowing what normal children do together for fun. Goten smiled and began making his way toward a small closed space.
"Yeah! Come on, I'll show you my room."
Alluka felt herself following along, tagging closely behind him. The two made their way toward a door decorated with animal stickers. Alluka pursed her lips in recognition.
'This is the room Chi-Chi told me not to go into. I guess she didn't want me invading it without his permission.'
Upon opening the door, Alluka began to glance around. She didn't see anything too out of place or important.
"Here it is." He announced. "Pretty neat, huh?
A neatly made bed with one or two toys on it. A small window where the light shined through, a desk placed next to with pencils and papers on it. There was another door next to the bed, likely his closet. Over by the corner was a small collection of books. Upon closer inspection, Alluka found that these books were mostly about animals, nature, and various types of plant life. She looked to the right of this collection, and saw that there were books that looked to be about subjects such as history and mathematics.
It was likely that they were separated from the others to categorize them. It was worth noting that they were fewer in number compared to the ones about nature. They were probably subjects that he wasn't all that interested in.
"You're really into nature huh?" She remarked. "What do you find more interesting? Plants or animals?"
Goten smiled, "Oh Animals all the way! They're way more interesting than plants. A lot of plants are cool too… But I think animals are cooler." He said. "What about you?"
"I agree with you." She grinned back, "I could read about animals for hours!"
Remembering Chi-Chi's and her earlier conversation, she shifted closer to where he was.
"Chi-Chi said you have animal friends. Is it okay if I can meet them?" She asked, being sure that she could fit some time for fun during her training.
Goten nodded eagerly. "Sure! That sounds like fun. Just tell me when you'd like to." He said.
Shutting his eyes, his nose picked up the scent of his mother's meal. His stomach grumbled loudly.
"Looks like you're hungry." Alluka snickered. Goten laughed and nodded.
"That's an understatement." He looked up toward Alluka and then stood up. He made his way toward his bed and grabbed one of his animal toys.
"Wanna play until lunch is ready?"
"Ok!"
Goten threw her one of his plushies and they began to entertain themselves with make believe and random conversation.
A few minutes later…
"Kids! It's ready!" Chi- Chi announced.
The sound of footsteps were heard as the two children made their way toward the table. Both of them seemed to be getting along as they chatted joyfully along the way.
"You really have an actual dinosaur for a friend?! That is so COOL!" Alluka cried out in amazement. "What type is it?!"
"It's a young pterodactyl. I call her Tera." Goten explained. " I met her last year and visit it every weekend to play together with the rest of my friends."
Alluka looked down, smiling. "Next weekend, can I…"
"Of course!" He said, already knowing what she was about to ask for. "I'm sure you'll get along really well."
Chi-Chi, despite the information she had uncovered the previous night, couldn't help but feel warmth as the two of them seemed to be getting along so well. Her youngest then turned to her as both he and Alluka took their seats.
"Hey mom?"
"Yes, dear?"
"Did you make some food for Killua? He was heading this way when I met him." Goten asked.
"Don't worry dear." Chi-Chi said. " I left him a big pile of food over by the counter. It should be enough for him. (hopefully…)" She muttered that last part to herself.
Killua making it back faster was actually quite a nice change of pace. Before, when he arrived much later, she had to make him extra dinner while everyone had already eaten, which meant extra chores for her to do. Even with Alluka and Killua agreeing to help clean, it was still a lot of work.
She had to cook three times a day normally. Killua's absences turned THAT into five whenever he was running late for both lunch and dinner.
So being able to make meals for everyone all at once was a nice time saver, as when she got in the zone, she usually finished much faster with practiced ease.
During the early parts of their stay, she had to keep reminding herself that the two of them were humans. (Albeit, incredibly super powered humans). As such, she may or may not have overcooked the first few times they ate at her home.
She smiled with fondness at their shock the first time she served them that much food.
She made her way to her seat and began eating alongside the two children.
"Hey Alluka!" Goten said, his mouth full. "If you want, me and dad can take you fishing'." He offered. Chi-Chi threw a small glare at her son in disapproval.
"Sweetie, please don't talk with food in your mouth. People find it gross."
"Oh..." Goten quickly finished the plate he was eating and grinned sheepishly. "Sorry Alluka."
"It's fine." She said, thinking about his offer.
She had seen people fishing before, mostly Gon, but she had never actually done it. She knew they would probably take the time to teach her, but she didn't really like the thought of hurting anyone. Even if it was for food.
"So what do you say?" Goten egged on for her response.
"Ummm… Honestly I don't really like fishing… But I'd really like it if we can train together some time! Is that okay?" She asked.
"Yeah! That's fine. Honestly I kinda wanna see how strong you are. Ever since dad told me about you, I've been really stoked to meet you guys!" He mentioned. Giving an impish grin he raised his hand and buried his elbow on the table. "Hey! How about we arm wrestle?"
"Not at the dinner table! Or do I need to remind you what happened last time with your brother?" Chi-Chi quickly intervened, remembering how long it took for them to replace the table which, under the force of her two boys strength. Luckily, there were no dinner plates on it at the time.
Goten rubbed his head sheepishly while giggling. "Just kidding…" He said before looking at Alluka. "Well, I mean, not really. I do wanna have an arm wrestle, but let's do it outside, okay?"
"Sure…" Alluka responded, amused by the boy's personality.
The three continued to eat in silence, Goten trying to maintain some more table manners for Alluka's sake.
It's not that he lacked them. Before he had met Goku, he was actually quite calm and less energetic than before. But as time rolled on with his father back home after the defeat of Buu, The young lad began to try and emulate his father more. Being influenced by his energetic, go-getter attitude, as well as his easy going nature.
Time slowly rolled on before Goten's eyes widened and a smile escaped his lips.
"Hey Alluka." He called her, taking a minute to swallow his food. "I think your brother's close to getting home."
Alluka turned to Goten. "Really? Can you tell me how far away he is?" She looked down, her cheeks burning up a bit due to embarrassment. "I can't really sense energy yet…"
"Oh it's no problem!" He quickly reassured before shutting his eyes in concentration. Doing his best to sense his energy. A second or so later, he looked back at her.
"He's not that far away. He should be here in a couple minutes." He informed her.
"Okay. Thanks for telling me." She smiled at him, before finishing her plate of rice.
Alluka and Chi-Chi finished before Goten did, and both women started working on dishes. Goten on the other hand, continued with his meal, this time going into it a bit more ravenously now that nobody was watching.
As Goten served himself his fnal plates, a knock on the door was heard.
"I'll get it." Alluka said, Chi-Chi nodding in appreciation.
Upon opening the door was none other than her older brother. He wore a smile on his face as he finally began taking off the headband.
"Welcome back." Alluka greeted him.
"Trust me. I'm glad to be back!" Killua covered his eyes briefly from the sun. "Alright. I think this might be my earliest time yet!" He cheered.
The two made their way inside, where Killua quickly rushed to the kitchen to see Chi-Chi still cleaning. She greeted him by giving him a small wave.
"Hi, Killua. Your lunch is on the counter. Go ahead and take a seat next to Goten alright?"
Killua nodded, giving her a thumbs up. "Thanks! Smells good."
He went over to the pile of food and carefully balanced a pack of it in his arms. He made his way over to the table and sat down. His eyes drifted over toward Goten.
"You look ALOT like your old man, you know that?"
"Yeah. He told me once that I was like a 'mini me'!" Goten laughed, recounting the time he had met his father for the first time.
As the two boys eagerly ate their meals, Goten heard his mother call to him.
"Goten, honey, as soon as you're done eating go to the bathroom so I can give you a haircut. And while you're there, be sure to take a shower, alright?"
"Yeah, Mom!"
As they stuffed their faces with their lunch, Chi-Chi put her apron away and turned to Alluka.
"Go ahead and do some training alone outside Alluka. I'll join you in a bit, alright?"
Alluka smiled and nodded, before heading outside.
Breathing a tired sigh, Chi-Chi made her way to sit on the table with both of the boys. The two were eating like their lives depended on it.
"So how was the rest of the trip back?" Goten asked.
"Same as always…" Killua shrugged. He looked over at Chi-Chi's tired form. He couldn't help but admire that even with her long routine of maintaining the house, she still found time to train Alluka and take care of them.
"After I'm done eating, I can take over Alluka's training if you want. That way you can get a short break." He offered.
Chi-Chi looked up quickly, shaking her head. "Oh, you don't have to do tha-"
"Come on." Killua persuaded. "You're clearly tired. Besides I finished early, so until Goku gets here it's not like I got anything better to do."
Smiling, acknowledging that he was right, Chi-Chi sighed and gave him a soft smile. "Well, if you insist. Thank you Killua."
"Can I come too?" Goten asked eagerly. He looked over at Chi-Chi who was glancing back at him. "After my hair cut, I mean." He added.
"Sure. But be careful with her. She's not as strong as either of us. She hasn't even activated her aura yet."
"Why?" Goten asked, genuinely confused. "It's easy!"
"Maybe to you Goten. But don't forget that everyone has different learning rates." Chi-Chi said to her son.
"Okay... But when will she learn how to use ki?" He inquired.
"I want her to have a better grasp on controlling her strength first, as well as improve her technique." Killua responded. "After that, I, along with Gon, will teach her."
Goten nodded, placing his finger on his chin in recognition. "Oh yeah! Gon is the other guy you two came with right? The one training with Gohan."
"That's him." Killua confirmed. His eyes widened as a thought came to mind "That reminds me, his birthday's next week. Me and Alluka should probably pay him a quick visit. If you want, you can come along to meet him."
Goten beamed, quickly nodding his head in agreement. "Sure! Are you guys gonna get him anything?"
"Maybe." Killua said, giving a small smirk. Goten frowned playfully and decided to respect his privacy. Soon enough, Killua finished his last plate and got up from his seat.
"That was really good. Thanks for the meal." He nodded gratefully toward Chi-Chi. As he made his way toward the door, Killua heard Goten's voice.
"I'll join you guys after my haircut, okay?" He said. Killua turned to the younger boy and nodded, before leaving the house.
Alluka stood in the middle of the field where she and Chi-Chi had been practicing, repeatedly punching the air around her.
As she practiced, She kept trying to control the strength of her hits.
'Still a tad bit too hard…' She thought, another punch being thrown. ' What I need is a punching bag.' Just as that thought came, she glanced over toward the trees a short distance away.
She walked towards a tree and settled into a stance. Drawing a deep breath she winked her fist into her lap and let the punch fly.
Crack.
Groaning Alluka removed her fist to see a small crack on the bark of the tree.
Why is everything on this planet so WEAK?!
Breathing in a sigh to calm herself, she looked down at the ground. 'Since trees back home are so strong I guess I must have subconsciously put more effort into it…' She thought.
'Oh well. At least I didn't punch a hole through it. If anything I'd say this is pretty good progress considering where I was when I got here!'
That was true. She HAD made incredible progress since the three of them had first arrived in this world.
What irritated Alluka the most was the constant change in feel. When she first came here, the gravity was very light.
She couldn't remember how long it had taken her to more or less get used to it. After that though, they had begun training with the Son family.
Which brought forth the turtle shells...
Ironically, the weight of the shells had brought her just a bit closer to how it felt back where they came from, which made it easier to not jump straight to the moon even with the training. But as it turned out, this was a double edged blade.
By the time the shells had been introduced, Alluka had already grown quite accustomed to the gravity here, which made the shells feel heavier than they actually were.
It would have been a lot handier to have them when they had first arrived, that way, they would have gradually worked toward the lightness of this world.
Well... Nothing they can do about it now, she supposed.
As Alluka made her way toward another tree, She felt a finger tapping her shoulder from behind.
"Heya."
Alluka jumped, nearly slamming against the tree. She quickly composed herself and saw that it was her brother, flashing a mischievous grin.
"Boo." He said, mockingly. Alluka waved him off while rolling her eyes.
"Ha Ha. You're SO amusing." She said, putting as much sarcasm as she could into her words. "I'm guessing Chi-Chi sent you to help you right?"
"I volunteered." He said simply.
Alluka frowned in concern. "Why? Was something wrong?"
Her brother shrugged in response. "She seemed tired, so I told her to rest up. I swear that woman works way too much…"
Alluka nodded in agreement. "That was sweet of you. I hope she feels better soon…"
"Nothing a good ol 'nap won't fix." He assured her. "After Goten is done with his haircut, he said he'd come join us. When he does, I'll go back and help with the dishes, that way she can rest up."
Alluka couldn't help but feel a pit forming her stomach.
She was glad that Chi-Chi would be getting a much deserved break, but now it would be her older brother training her.
She could tell that he had noticed her change in demeanor around him. What she couldn't figure out was she was supposed to feel.
This was her brother. The one who, along with his best friend, had given her way more freedom than she had ever had in her life.
That said, no matter how hard she tried, she couldn't shake what Nanika had said to her.
Maybe it was selfish to some extent but she knew there had to be SOME love in their actions right?
What made it so hard now was that she was doing something that had never even been considered before in her mind.
She was keeping a secret from him. From Gon as well.
The mere idea of not trusting her brother and Gon would have been ridiculous, but Nanika's words were too factual to deny. She still felt happy to be with him, but now there was an unspoken tension between the two of them. A tension caused by her fear.
Her fear of Nanika's words possibly holding some merit to them.
Fear of being betrayed or being taken advantage of.
Fear of keeping a secret from and possibly lying to her two partners.
But she knew that, even if Nanika was wrong, it's intentions were still to benefit the both of them. If she just followed along and kept pretending, they would get what they needed sooner, and this feeling of dismay would go away.
She forced a smile onto her features, looking at Killua with an implanted enthusiasm. "So what are we gonna work on?"
Killua crossed his arms and smiled back at her. "I want you to tell me what you and Chi-Chi were doing before lunch. We'll go from there."
Alluka agreed to it and began to tell her brother of the stick throwing activity and how she was having trouble controlling her strength.
Deep down, she only hoped she could hold on to this facade long enough for Nanika's plan to be completed. She silently hoped that she would have the strength needed to lie to them. She felt Thankful that she hadn't needed to so far.
It was only a matter of time before the first phase of their plan began...
Originally, I wasn't even planning on doing a DBZ crossover because of how absurdly high the power levels are. If I had put the three kids in the story with their canon power levels, I wouldn't be able to make them as strong as I wanted to make them in this story.
At BEST, They would have the same potential as Krillin or Tien Shinhan. Maybe a bit higher. (Well ,except for Alluka.)
With how the nen system works, and given enough training, they probably could figure out a way to use their aura to develop some sort of ability that could defeat saiyans, but the fact is that they don't really have the motivation they need to do that because the sayains are friendly nowadays and aren't threatening them.
Motivation and drive are what fuel nen.
Then I remembered the dark continent.
Taking that into account, I decided to play around with the idea and make their world have a higher gravity than that of the world of Dragon Ball. Not only would I not have to worry about the three of them being instantly KO'd by everyone they meet but it would also allow me to write more interesting fight scenes.
Anyway that's it for this chapter. I hope you guys have a nice day and be sure to stick around for the next chapter of
Dragon Hunter ZX!
{ Question for the reviews }
Now that I'm writing this, a saiyan invasion of the HXH world does sound like a fascinating idea.
Imagine all the interesting tactics, strategies, and techniques that would be invented by the hunters just to be able to stand a chance against the monstrous power of the saiyans. It would create some awesome storytelling and fight choreography in my opinion.
A war between nen users and Sayains.
What do you guys think about this idea?
