We learn from the past

Take what we can from the present

Prepare for the upcoming future

So that a moment is never wasted

It's been five years since everything changed for the now fifteen year old blond, and as he waited for the exams to start, he began to remember all that had happened in those few years.

Throughout the first year of the academy, Naruto learned quite a lot about the village he was living in. How the village was started by two clans, Uchiha and Senju, that were at battle for generations, and that it was the heirs, Uchiha Madara and Senju Hashirama, of these two clans that saw the potential of the land. A brief explanation on how the two of them fought at a place called the "Valley of End". The creation of the civilian council and Uchiha police force was created by the younger brother of Hashirama, Senju Tobirama.

Naruto learned that Senju Hashirama was the first Hokage, with the ability to use the Mokuton- Wood release. The second was Tobirama and his mastery over Suiton- Water Release. They were both in the first and second Shinobi War, with Hashirama dying during the first due to being outnumbered and surrounded. Tobirama died during the third Shinobi War, after staying behind so that his troops could escape and regroup with the others, as well as passing on the title of Hokage to Sarutobi Hiruzen.

Naruto had learned that Sarutobi Hiruzen had served in both the second and third Shinobi War, and trained the legendary Sannin. He was also known as the 'Professor' for being able to use each element and for creating new techniques.

When it came to the Fourth Hokage, Namikaze Minato, Naruto paid close attention. Even though Kyuubi told him about his father, it was mainly what he did with Kushina or when they fought. He learned that he wasn't only the fastest Kage, but had given retired Shinobi who still wanted to work jobs and opportunities.

While he only found that Konoha History was interesting, another thing that happened was his and Hinata's relationship. In just a few hours news had spread about them becoming an official couple and it wasn't like they were hiding it or anything. They were seen kissing and holding hands throughout the day.

He also noticed that his little rabbit had also grown in her confidence. She hardly ever stuttered unless she was scared or very nervous. She was hardly ever seen without Naruto at the academy, and that was how they liked it.

While the academy was great, it was after hours that Naruro really got serious. Spending a good ten extra hours of physical training, destroying and rebuilding his muscles thanks to the Kyuubi healing his muscle tear.

During the two years of his second year, instead of just sparring, there were individual class sparring tournaments to see where everyone stood. Naruto's class held twenty-seven students in total, with seven clan children and twenty civilian students. It wasn't a surprise to see many of the seven heirs to rank in the top, besides two being towards the bottom and two in the middle. Since it was a mix spar, many of the girls who weren't from any clans were more towards the bottom and low middle. The boys who weren't from any clans, like the girls, were mainly in the low middle to upper middle- since both were mainly street bowls or cat fights.

The only one that seemed to catch Naruto's eye was the last Uchiha, who was ranked first among the class. The reason he wasn't was because he had to face Hinata, and both refused to fight each other.

Speaking of Hinata, Naruto found out that not only did girls mature faster than boys, but Hinata was kind of a pervert when it came to his body. Especially when they had to do any physical aspect outside besides throwing practice. He would often catch her watching him as he stretched or when his body moved in general, but he was also doing the same to her. Often watching her work out in nothing but a semi tight black workout shirt and dark blue shorts, and he knew she was watching if all the winks were any hints.

In class Naruto was thankful to have Hinata by his side even more as she not only took way better notes than him, but was able to understand the material better than him. If only he knew she did this because she loved teaching him and watched as he brightened up when he figured it out.

It was the same boring math and science and literature classes, but he found that History and its Geological aspect to be fascinating.

Hi no Kuni, or Land of Fire, got its name from the very warm weather it had all year round. It was the first to have a Hidden Village, and while not the largest country, had the largest Shinobi Village. It is a country that is covered in trees and has deep and blue rivers cutting through the land. Hi no Kuni had survived three Shinobi Wars and since then has fully regrown.

There were not many mountains or hills, but there were a few small ones that gave good sights. There were many cliffs and caves scattered through the land, and since Shinobi of the Land of Fire had grown up with the trees, they knew the subtle landmarks and areas.

He learned a little of each of the seven clans. There was the Nara clan, while lazy were incredibly smart and had the ability to use shadow jutsu. The Akimichi and their body expansion jutsu and food pills. Yamanaka clan with their mind jutsu and blonde hair. The Hyūga and their Byakugan, along with their taijutsu and family traditions. The Inuzuka and their canine partners, with their beast jutsu. The Aburame incest abilities, and their social skills. The Uchiha Sharingan and Fire jutsus, along with their contributions to the Village.

It was also in his second year that he had Hinata join him for practice, where they trained and sparred. Naruto didn't know how Hinata was able to get permission to be out so late, but he didn't complain, it only brought them closer.

Then there was the deciding moment in their relationship, Kyuubi-no-Kitsune. Hinata never once asked about her, until now. They were ending their second year before heading toward the break for the third year. She had asked to meet with the fox, and it went much smoother than he would have thought. There wasn't much talking, but a few words and a handshake was all that was needed for Hinata to be liked by her. It was then that she revealed her name to them, saying she was waiting till he brought a girl over.

Naruto didn't know how but ever since then Hinata had access to a mental link to his subconscious. All they needed to do was focus on one another's chakra signature and they were able to talk to each other. After some testing, they found out that Hinata could enter his mindscape, having been granted access from mother fox herself.

Entering their first third year, Naruto and Hinata had their official spar during the tournament. It was a close fight but Naruto won in the end, taking the top- Hinata taking second and Uchiha taking third. It was also in this year that they had a second Instructor, Mizuki, who Naruto and Hinata did not like.

Naruro could practically taste the hate of the blue haired Instructor, and they both noticed that Mizuki had tried to even sabotage Naruto. He had to stop Hinata from actually hurting the man worse than she would in three minute Instructor- student sparring.

Naruro and Hinata also learned the kunia and holster (what the fox calls the birds and the bees) in such detail and depth, that had them both blushing in embarrassment and more when seeing each other for a whole week. They had to cancel their training with each other for that week, having already struggled during physical education. Naruto could swear he kept hearing her laugh more in that week than he has in his life.

During Shinobi 101, everyone learned about chakra; Shinobi rules, ranking and missions; as well as war situations and retirement. Since all clan heirs were already taught at a younger age and Naruto had his two girls, he and the others were sent to do chakra control. The Leaf Concentration exercises was a basic everyone had to do to get their chakra under control and to help slowly expand their reserves. They were also shown how to do the three academy jutsus that were needed for their Shinobi exam, which would decide if they would become Shinobi.

During the kunai and shuriken throwing, it was a two way tie with Hinata and Naruto taking first and the Uchiha landing in second, and would have made first if not for the fact he messed up on his last one.

Besides classes, he was constantly demanded to spar by the last Uchiha, something about not believing he would lose to a clanless loser. Naruto let him run out of steam before cornering him and pushing him out. The main two problems he had were with two people, Kiba and Mizuki. Mizuki had tried every trick in the book to get him to fail, and failed every time. Plus, he was starting to smell like snakes. Kiba, who thought that after training with his clan could beat Naruto and win Hinata, lost worse than last time. He had to be physically pulled off the boy so that he didn't end up worse, but warned him about if he did this one more time. Hinata had later rewarded him with a deep and passionate kiss.

Once out of the academy, Naruto and Hinata practiced their chakra control to the extreme. Hinata didn't know how he did it but her man had come up with a new way to strengthen the effect of the Leaf Concentration exercises. By placing a circle of leaves on his stomach and two in the middle of the circle, he had channeled his chakra to move the bigger circle clockwise and the two leaves in the center counter-clockwise.

Then they learned one of the most simplest and helpful jutsu in their life- Kage Bunshin no Jutsu. Instead of a regular Bunshin no Jutsu, which were illusions, a Kage Bunshin is a solid chakra clone. Able to transfer information after being dismissed or destroyed, and good chakra control helpers. Since clones cannot transfer physical training; chakra control, muscle memory and information gained from them are transferred to the original.

The one downside would be that this could overload your brain and kill you or just make you out right retarded, but since Naruro and Hinata had the Kyuubi inside of both their minds, she could help organize a portion of what is given. But warned them about not overdoing it.

Naruto was snapped out of memory after his cheek was met with Hinata's soft and luscious lips, drawing his attention to her. "What is it my, Rabbit-hime?" Hinata turned a light red and lightly punched his shoulder. "Why do you keep calling me that, I'm nothing like a rabbit!"

"It's because your eyes are that of a rabbit, and you're as cute as one too." Which was responded by another punch to the shoulder, causing him to chuckle. Before they could go any farther, Naruto was called to the exam room.

The exam room was connected to their class on the third floor, with a single large window overlooking the field and forest. Iruka-sensei and Mizuki sat behind a large wooden table that had Hitai-ate lined up. "This is the last test, Naruto. Remember, all you need to do is Henge into either me or Mizuki-sensei and create at least three Bunshin to pass." Nodding his head,

Naruto did the hand seals and transformed into Iruka. Getting the all clear, canceled the Henge.

"Is it okay if I do a variation of the Bunshin no Jutsu, since I can't do the normal one." It was a question directed to Iruka only, as he would never see the blue haired shinobi as a sensei. After a few minutes of debating, Naruto got the okay, but was warned he had to do them perfectly to get a passing grade.

Just as he made the hand signs, Iruka's eyes widened, watching as a small amount of smoke appeared in the room before disappearing, showing three more Naruto. Iruka got up and lightly touched one on the forehead, awed at the feel of a solid copy.

Mizuki was furious at this! Not only did his plan for failing Naruto backfired but the strength and skill he showed was as great as ever.

After a quick praise from the scarred sensei, Naruto left with his Hitai-ate around his forehead.

Naruto had decided to take the day off from training and instead, worked on burning the rest of his orange jumpsuits that were no longer needed. Hinata had come to watch, a smile across her face seeing them gone. With a small make-out session and a goodbye, they parted ways.

Deciding to take it easy, Naruto walked down the empty and quiet street when he sensed Mizuki moving at a fast pace. Seeing as he had nothing better to do till next week when teams were announced, he followed the suspicious chunin into one of the training grounds closer to the front gate.

"Once lord Orochimaru gets this, I'll be able to become stronger." Naruto heard him say, leaning the massive scroll by the shed building. "But first, I need to take a leak before anything else." Seeing as this was his chance to check out what was so special about the scroll, Naruto quickly and quietly dashed towards it and saw what was on it.

'The Forbidden Scroll of Sealing!?' His shock only lasted a few seconds before hearing Mizuki make his way back over. Thinking fast he jumped up onto the root, and carefully watched Mizuki Henge into himself, orange jumpsuit and all. "Did I really look that retarded in that jumpsuit?'

'Why yes you did. Now you need to try and secure that scroll, it could have some very valuable jutsu in there.' Fox said, with him Nodding in agreement. But before the original Naruto could act, another person made its presence in the area. "Naruto? What are you doing!?"

'Iruka-sensei? That means other Shinobi were alerted and looking for the scroll. Damn!' Naruto thought, having no way of notifying Iruka that the one with the scroll was a fake. Sighing, Naruto watched to see how things would play out.

Mizuki mentally snarled at having been found so fast, but unless he wanted to be caught, he had to play the part. "Iruka-sensei, what are you doing here?" He said in Naruto's voice, trying to think of a way to escape. Iruka marched over before stopping a few feet away.

"I should be asking you that, Naruto! You have chunin looking all over for you!" Iruka said, pinching his nose. "What were you thinking? Just hand over the Forbidden Scroll of Sealing and turn yourself in, it'll be a lighter punishment if you do."

The Naruto Henge Mizuki looked down and proceeded to walk over the Iruka with the scroll, and it looked like he was going to do it when he pulled out a kunai and thrust it forward. Iruka barely dodged the attack before he realized 'Naruto' was on top of him, multiple shuriken thrown at him.

Deflecting them, he got some distance and prepared himself in a stance. "What are you doing Naruto? This ain't like you!" The 'Naruto' in front of him just smirked, before rushing in towards the chunin. But as he took his few steps towards Iruka, the fake received a surprise kick to the face, sending him tumbling to a tree and dropping the Henge.

Now Iruka looked at the real Naruto standing in front of him while seeing the down Mizuki stand up, just as surprised as Iruka, if not more. "I knew I sensed something off when I saw you rush with that scroll, but to try and pin the blame on me makes me mad, Bastard!"

"So the demon brat shows himself. Do you want to know that there's a secret about you, Naruto?" He chuckled, watching Iruka's facial expressions. "You can't Mizuki, it's forbidden!"

Naruto looked on In curiosity, wondering what was so special about this secret. "What's this secret that I am unaware of?" Naruto took a few steps towards the traitorous shinobi, and stopped a good few feet away. Mizuki just gave a maniacal grin as stared up at the blond.

"About the law that the Third placed that forbids anyone from telling you what you really are, hiding the younger generation from the truth." Never removing his eyes from the genin, Mizuki secretly and quietly slid his hand to grab a kunai from his boots.

"Mizuki-" Iruka took a few steps forward before Naruto stopped him, his arm telling him to stop. "I'm sorry Iruka-sensei, but I must know what this means." Hesitating, Iruka walked over and grabbed the Forbidden Scroll that escaped Mizuki's grasp when Naruto kicked him and turned to leave. "Whatever it may be, you know that you were my favorite student I had the privilege to have.", and left the clearing.

"Now what was this secret you were telling me about?" Mizuki stood up on shaking legs, holding on to the tree for support. "The night that the Kyuubi-no-Kitsune attacked the village, it wasn't destroyed but sealed into an infant." He said, crackling like it was the best telling joke ever. "You were that infant! You are the-"

"I already knew that." Naruto said cutting him off before sighing in disappointment. "I thought it was something else, but there's something you should know… I've known that for years." Disappearing from his sight, Mizuki was suddenly surrounded by darkness.

"What is this?"

"This is where you will experience pain for not only impersonating me but for also attacking Iruka-sensei." Trying to dispel what he assumed was a genjutsu, he was surprised at not being able to feel his arms. "... AHAHAHAHA!"

"Let me ask you something, traitorous Leaf Shinobi." Mizuki's eyes were filled with fear, screaming as he felt his body start to become one with the darkness- like razor sharp teeth narwing and tearing his body.

"Was it worth it?"

"AHAHAHAHAHA!" His terrifying and agonizing painful scream echoed through the forest.

In land barren of any true life, stood a castle of crystal. A lone figure stood on a balcony with a crowd of black creatures covering the land below, their growls and howls filling the air before they were silent with a wave of a hand.

"My child, the time is upon us! Once the moon is full, my champion shall be summoned before us! He and his first lover will have you all reborn into stronger and powerful children of his own, freeing you all from the chains of this world!"

The crowd of monstrous creatures growled and howled in excitement.

The figure smiled to herself as she watched her children. 'He will break the chains of the gods that hold us here, creating a new world for you all."

Walking back inside the castle, she sat on her throne and closed her eyes. "In just three days will be the start of a new beginning…"

Next chapter will start right after Naruto finishes Mizuki-teme with a surprise out of character moment from Iruka. I changed the whole Forbidden Scroll scene here, and after a few rewrites I got it to where I liked it.

Expect a much longer next chapter where we get introduced to (spoiler) and her tragic backstory, and some new power-ups. And for anyone who wants to know how Hinata is going to go to the darkside, read the next chapter. A NaruHina Lemon next chapter with a surprise third.

Everything will be explained in the next chapter of Twisted Mind, but until then-

See ya Next Time!!
