I got up the next morning, got dressed, and headed to the cemetery. I was standing by Henry and listened as Mary Margaret gave a eulogy.
"Some of us knew him as Archie. Others, as Jiminy. But we all knew him as a true friend. And though he may now be gone, he will always live on inside of us. Reminding us to be our best selves, to do the right thing, to always fight for what we believe in. So, we shouldn't think of today as goodbye, just as a way of saying… Archie, we'll be listening." Mary Margaret said.
After Mary Margaret walked back to David, and he embraced her, Emma and I followed after Henry as he walked away. I decided that I didn't want to crowd Emma and the others, so I asked Belle if it was okay if I hung out with her. She agreed and I followed her to the library.
"Wow! This is amazing." I said as I looked around the library.
Belle laughed and went to put some books up.
"Uh, sorry. The… The library's not open yet." Belle said to someone.
When I followed her voice, I saw Hook standing there. How in the hell did he get to Storybrooke?
"Oh. I'm not here for the books, love." Hook said.
"You. You're the one who broke into my cell at the Queen's palace." Belle said.
Belle then took off and Hook followed.
"You wanted to kill Rumplestiltskin." Belle said.
"Oh, I still do. But, right now, I'll settle for you. Hello again, Hazelle." Hook said to Belle before looking at me.
I didn't get a chance to respond, because Belle knocked a cart of books over onto Hook, and we took off into the elevator. Belle called Gold, and I could tell that she was frustrated because the call was going in and out.
"How do you know him?" Belle asked.
"We crossed paths when we were in the enchanted forest." I replied.
The beating on the elevator doors continued until it finally stopped. When the doors opened, Gold was standing there. I was happy to see him and so was Belle.
"Belle. It's okay. It's okay. Here." Gold said as he hugged Belle before putting his jacket around her.
"Where… Where is he?" Belle asked.
"I don't know. But you've got nothing to fear. I'm here now." Gold replied.
Gold then looked at me, so I decided to tell him.
"Hook showed up and came after Belle." I told him.
"Thank you for being here." Gold said.
"Not a problem. I need a distraction after everything that's happened." I said.
Gold chuckled before we all headed to his shop. I didn't want to leave Belle after Gold goes after Hook, and I can tell that Gold is appreciative of me sticking with Belle.
"Where are you going?" Belle asked.
"The shop." Gold replied.
"Why?" Belle asked.
I'm starting to like this girl because she questions everything and makes you think about what you're going to say before you say it.
"Well, let's just say, there are many wonderful things in there, that I could use to make sure that pirate never comes near you or Hazelle ever again." Gold replied.
Did he just call me by my actual name instead of calling me Miss Evans? He just surprised the heck out of me.
"Rumple, no. We… We need to report this to the Sheriff. They'll take care of him. You're so close to finding your son. Please. Please, don't let your hatred for this man get in the way of that." Belle said.
I don't think Emma or David care about looking for Hook at this very moment, but I get why she would want Rumple to turn it over instead of going after Hook.
"But he tried to harm you." Gold said.
"But why? What… What happened between you two?" Belle asked.
I would actually like to know that as well.
"Belle… This is really not your concern." Gold said.
"He attacked me and Hazelle. It most definitely is my concern." Belle argued.
Gold glanced at me and I just shrugged my shoulders because I didn't know what else to do at that moment.
"Many years ago, I was married to a woman named Milah… Until Hook crossed our paths." Gold said.
Wait a damn minute. Is this the Milah that Hook had tattooed on his arm?
"She was Baelfire's mother?" Belle asked.
"Yeah. And because of that marauding cur, he grew up without her. Her took my wife- he took Bae's mother- so I took his hand." Gold replied.
"That's why he came after me. But, uh, what… What about her? What… What did he do? Rumple, you can… You can tell me anything." Belle said.
"She died. That's all that matters." Gold replied.
I knew right then that there was more to the story, but Gold can tell the rest when he gets good and ready because I'm not pushing the topic. We entered the shop and saw it was a mess.
"What happened here?" Belle asked.
"Hook. That is why he attacked you." Gold replied.
"To get you out of the store. What did he want?" Belle said.
Gold went to check the safe and found it empty. I have no idea what he had in there, but I'm sure he's about to tell me.
"Rumple! Rumple! Stop it! Stop, please." Belle said as Gold started breaking stuff with his cane.
"No, you're right." Gold said.
"Hey…" Belle said.
"I'll have to retrieve what's mine." Gold said.
He then started heading towards the exit.
"Let me… Let me help you." Belle begged.
I let them talk because Gold knew that I would stay with Belle no matter what.
"This is my fight." Gold said.
"And this is my fault! If Hook had never attacked me, you never would have left the shop." Belle said.
"How do you propose that we get the shawl back? Have you dueled with a pirate before? How exactly are you going to help me?" Gold asked.
I've fought against Hook before, so I know what Gold is talking about. Hook is not an easy person to defeat, and I honestly don't think that Belle would last against Hook.
"Well, I'm not just going to sit here and do nothing." Belle argued back.
"No. You're going to go back to the library with Hazelle, lock the door, and wait for me to dispense with this problem." Gold said.
"And if I don't? You'll… You'll cast some spell that gives me and Hazelle no choice?" Belle questioned.
"No. I trust you'll do as I wish, as you trust me to be a better man. Belle, please. Hook has maybe cost me the chance of finding my son. I don't want to lose you, too. Here, look. I want you to take this." Gold said while going to get a gun.
"Just in case Hook is stupid enough to come after you again. Point this, pull the trigger, and the gun'll do the rest for you. Hazelle will help you if something happens with it. (I nodded my head to ease Gold's mind because I would kill to protect the people I care for) Alright? Alright?" Gold said.
"Yes, yes." Belle said.
Gold tried to leave again, but Belle stopped him.
"W-wait. Promise me that you going after Hook is just about getting the shawl back." Belle pleaded.
Gold didn't say anything and left. I gave Belle a light squeeze because I know that this is bothering her more than she is letting on. We then headed back to the library and started cleaning up the mess.
"What did you find?" I asked as Belle lifted up something.
Belle didn't say anything but showed me a knotted piece of rope. Belle then went and grabbed a book and started looking through it.
"Hook came here on his ship." Belle said as she showed me the page she was looking at.
"That's how his ass came here after we left him in the enchanted forest." I said.
Belle was confused so as we headed to the docks, I explained everything that happened. Belle was shocked but glad that we didn't dare believe him on anything he told us.
"Where is it?" Belle asked.
We were trying to find Hook's ship, but couldn't. We then looked up and noticed some seagulls perched on something. Belle and I glanced at each other and it dawned on us that maybe the ship is invisible to the naked eye. Belle grabbed some feed from this container and threw it where the ship would be, and it revealed some stairs.
"Found you." Belle and I said together.
We slowly made our way onto the ship and made our way below deck.
"Hello?" someone called out.
That voice sounds oddly familiar.
"Uh… H-Hello?" Belle called out.
"Down here." the voice called out.
Belle and I went to this gate, opened it, and saw Archie tied up.
"Belle! Hazelle! Oh, thank God!" Archie exclaimed.
"Archie! You're… You… You're okay!" Belle exclaimed.
"Yes, I… I… I am. I… I… Can… Can you, uh…" Archie said.
I grabbed a nearby sword, handed it to Belle, and she cut the ropes. Archie then untied his legs and climbed out. I hugged Archie because I'm so thankful that he is alive and well, and I can't wait for everyone to see him.
"Go. Find Mr. Gold. Tell him I'm here. Bring him back to the ship." Belle told Archie.
"Wait. You're not coming with me?" Archie asked Belle.
We then heard a creaking noise above us, and we knew there was no time to argue.
"Go. Go! Go, go! There's no time to argue." Belle said.
Archie left, Belle stayed in the room, and I hid close by. Belle knew there was no way I would leave her behind, and I could help her fight off Hook if need be.
"Looking for this?" Hook asked as he walked into the room Belle was in while holding the shawl.
"Uh, that doesn't belong to you." Belle said.
"Oh, it does now." Hook said.
I peeked around the corner and saw both Hook and Belleglancing at something, probably the gun, but I'm not sure. Both of them went for it, but Hook was faster.
"Oh… My dear Belle, you should've stayed with your books. Real life can get so… messy." Hook said while pointing the gun at Belle's head.
I had already pulled mine out and was ready to shoot if need be.
"I'm not afraid of you, and I'm not leaving without that." Belle said as she motioned towards the shawl.
Hook then placed the shawl on the counter and I knew that I could get it if Belle could distract Hook a little longer.
"Well, I admire your loyalty. But helping Rumplestiltskin? I'm afraid you're fighting a lost cause." Hook said.
"He needs that shawl to find his son." Belle said.
"And what makes you think his son wants to be found? Mm? I'm doing that boy a favor." Hook said.
"Have you not hurt Rumple enough?" Belle asked.
"Oh. I've hurt him?" Hook asked.
"You stole his wife." Belle said.
"Tell me something, love. If a woman comes to you and begs to take her away, is that theft?" Hook asked.
"Why would she leave him?" Belle asked.
"Because he was a coward. And because she loved me. I should've burned this the moment I required it." Hook replied.
"Why didn't you?" Belle asked.
I kept having to move because I didn't want Hook to know that I was still there. Belle is doing a damn good job and I'm very proud of her.
"Because she made it." Hook replied.
I could tell by his voice that he really did love Milah.
"I'm sorry she died, but… Vengeance? Vengeance won't bring her back." Belle said.
"Died? Like it was some kind of accident? Is that what he told you?" Hook questioned.
"He… Well, he… He didn't say." Belle replied.
"No, of course not. Of course, he'd leave out the most important detail of her passing." Hook said.
"And, uh… What would that be?" Belle asked.
"He killed her. He ripped out her heart, and he crushed it right in front of me." Hook replied.
I knew there was more to the story than what Gold told us.
"No…" Belle said.
"Oh, yes." Hook said.
"No!" Belle exclaimed.
While they were arguing, they switched spots, and I was able to grab the shawl and show myself. I was like Belle's guard dog, so to speak, but I was ready to kill if I had to.
"Yes. He will do anything- anything- to hold on to his power. Why do you think anyone who's ever gotten close to him, has either run away or been killed? Now, what makes you think you're any different? Tell me something darling. Why would you want to fight for a man like that?" Hook asked.
Hook's eyes widened a little bit once he saw me, but I wasn't budging.
"Because I still see good in him. Because I believe he's changed. Because his heart? Is true. And yours? Yours is rotten." Belle replied before slamming the oar from above her into Hook's head. He fell over and Belle and I took off, but Belle wasn't expecting him to have already caught up to us once we got above deck.
"How the hell did you…" Belle was trying to ask, but she was confused.
"Oh, I know this ship like the back of my… well, you know. I'd suggest you give that back to me now." Hook said while glancing over at me.
"Not a chance." I growled.
"Or what?" Gold asked as he arrived on deck.
"Ah. you look different in this world, crocodile. Like the coward, I met so long ago- limp and all." Hook taunted.
"And yet, you still can't kill me." Gold said.
"Let's have it, Dark One. What magic are you going to hide behind today?" Hook asked.
Belle and I had moved closer to Gold and out of harms way.
"Oh, no. Not magic." Gold said.
Glod then hit Hook upside his head with his cane and continued to beat the hell out of him.
"Rumple! Hey, let's go. Let's go. Let's go." Belle said.
"No, not yet, Belle." Gold said before hitting Hook again.
I handed the shawl over to Belle so she could use it to get Gold to stop.
"This- this is what you came for. This is what's going to get you back to Bae." Belle said as she held up the shawl.
"Ah, you're wasting your breath, love. He can't resist. He has to prove that he's not a coward." Hook said.
"You may want to turn away, Belle, Hazelle. This isn't going to be pretty." Gold told us before going back to beating the hell out of Hook.
"Do it! Do it! Kill me1 he has to show you how powerful he is." Hook said.
"No, Rumple. This… This is what he wants. To destroy every bit of good in you." Belle said.
"Rip my heart out. Kill me like you did Milah, and then I'll finally be reunited with her." Hook said.
"He has to die, Belle." Gold said.
Gold dropped his cane and went after Hook to rip his heart out.
"No! No, he doesn't! There's still good in you. I see it. Hazelle sees it. I've always seen it. Please. Please show me I'm not wrong." Belle pleaded.
"You take your little ship and sail until you fall off the edge of the world. I never want to see you again. Let's go." Gold said before slapping Hook and then leading us away.
I hung back and handed Hook a hankie.
"Next time, don't egg someone on that could easily kill you." I told him.
"Why would you hang back if you know I could kill you?" Hook asked.
"Because I know that you won't. You knew the song that I was humming when we climbed that beanstalk." I replied.
"You still never told me how you know that song." Hook said.
"Well, in my world, you are a fairytale and in your fairytale, that song is in the first movie. It's quite catchy and gets stuck in my head easily." I said.
Hook seemed fine with my answer and helped me off of his ship.
"Be wary of the crocodile, love." Hook told me.
"Always am, but I'm also wary of you, captain." I said back.
"You should be, love." Hook said with a smirk.
I went home, but wasn't there long, before I had to meet Emma at the town line.
