Vader POV

Twins. Padme had survived long enough to have two children. He had a daughter… and a son.

Leia had been hidden under the Emperor's nose, but he could expect no less from Bail Organa. Padme's friends were almost as intelligent and crafty as she was.

It was good that the man as dead. Vader would hate for Leia to find out that he had deliberately gone out and murdered her adoptive family.

And the boy. Kenobi had brought him, but trained him? No, the child could barely hold a lightsaber. He had no training. So where had the boy been hidden from him? Who raised him?

Vader let out a low growl and his hand tightened around the hilt of his deactivated lightsaber. Two children Kenobi had taken. Two children Kenobi had tricked Vader into hurting, unknowing of who they were.

Vader ripped his angry eyes from the cooling body and looked at his children. His family.

There were both with him now. They were his, and he would not lose them again. No one would take them from him.

Vader distantly registered the captured ship escaping, but it was of no significance. Kenobi was dead and his children were here. Nothing else mattered.

Looking down at his daughter and son, Vader calmed himself and contemplated his next move.

It was one thing to keep a princess scheduled for execution, but keeping a possible rebel from the detention cells would be far more difficult. Tarkin would tell the Emperor, and Tarkin had the power here. So, Vader would have to take his children and leave this monstrosity as soon as possible.

Vader frowned. Leia's white dress was ripped and stained with the boy's blood. The boy was pale and looked to be going into shock. Vader was mildly irritated. He had lost an entire arm and still kept going.

Reaching towards him, Vader attention was drawn back to his daughter.

"Please," she said, blocking his view of the boy.

"Please, let him live."

Vader paused, perplexed. Let him live? Did she think he would deny his son the care he needed?

Or, perhaps, she did not know who the boy was. If she was anything like her mother, which she was, it wouldn't matter who he was, she would still try to help him. And Kenobi, Vader fought back a snarl, had trusted the boy, so Leia was sure to trust him as well. But, still, he wondered.

"What is he to you?" Vader inquired.

Leia looked down at the weakening boy.

"He's, he's my brother," she said.

Ah, so she did know. Interesting that he had no inkling of it when he had interrogated her earlier. Perhaps her shields were stronger than he thought. Good.

Leia looked back up at Vader.

"If you give him medical care, let him live, I'll go with you. Willingly." Leia said, standing.

Surprised at the words, Vader looked between his two children. Let him live? Of course, the boy would live!

Vader's attention snapped back to Leia as she knelt before him, and he was suddenly reminded of Padme kneeling before the Gungan king.

"Please, my Lord," she pleaded.

Was she begging for her brother's life?

Wait a moment, willingly? With an internal wince, Vader suddenly recalled that he had never cleared up her misunderstanding of their relationship.

Well, it would be more efficient to not have to fight her all the way to their quarters.

"Very well," he said.

Leia collapsed forward onto her hands. Vader was a bit taken aback, but action was needed now. The boy was not doing well.

"Take the boy to my personal medic and see that he gets properly cared for," Vader ordered the Stormtroopers.

Oh, and the body, Vader remembered.

"Take Kenobi's body to stasis."

Looking down at his still kneeling daughter, Vader laid a gentle hand upon her beautiful chestnut hair.

"Rise, Leia," he said fondly. His daughter.

As she stood, he wrapped his arm around her, pulling her close to his side. Once again, the Force sang at the rightness of this. He and his child, together.

Making sure the troops followed orders promptly, Vader's worry spiked as he felt his daughter sway.

Moving his arm further down her small back, she was so small, Vader prepared to pick her up in case she fainted. She had been through a lot, he remembered, and even the strongest could not hold up under such a heavy weight.

Wrapping his cloak around her, Vader lead her gently around every obstacle on their way to the lift. He must get her back to their quarters for rest. She was obviously exhausted.

The lift doors closed and Vader smiled. This may be one of the best days of his life.
