They enjoyed the rest of the weekend together. Very relaxing and though it went fast it was nice. Olivia and Noah stayed the weekend. Both Brayden and Amanda needed them and it seemed Olivia and Noah needed them just as much. But now it was Monday. It was supposed to be court/trial day. But thankfully Brayden got what he wanted and what would benefit him and make things less stressfull on his health. He was just starting to get stronger, Amanda didn't want anything to damage that. Routinely getting his dialysis and was in good spirits. He had his mom's friends and coworkers there for him as well as his best friend Noah. He had all he needed.
Amanda had been quiet that morning. Olivia checking on her as well as Noah. Even Brayden was worried about his mom's silence. Brayden pulled Liv aside that morning. "I know mama's worried about me today and how this is going to go. I honestly just want to say my peace to him and my goodbye. Mama is taking it hard cause she still blames herself for my getting shot. It's not her fault, never was her fault. She's done everything to protect me. Please, please stay by her today and be there for her. We want and need you guys with us. You're mama's best friend and more and Noah is my best friend."
Olivia put her hand on Brayden's shoulder. Nodding her head as she understood his worry as she was worried too. "I'm on the same page as you Bray. I promise I am here. We are here. Whatever you and your mom need. We don't plan on leaving. I give you my word. Yes I'm still working on proving it to your mom, and I will also still work on proving it to you." Brayden smiled, hugging Olivia she was the other person he trusted the most besides his mom, Noah and Fin. Fin was like his mom's big brother and in turn an uncle to him and he thought of him as a big brother too. He looked out for them and did things with him as well as Noah, giving them the positive male influence that they needed.
Amanda had gotten up and made some coffee. Lord knew she was going to need it. The boys had eaten cereal and went back upstairs for some gaming til they left. Olivia had gotten dressed in one of her suits she wore to work. She saw that Amanda had done the same. As Amanda got her coffee Olivia moved behind her and massaged her shoulders gently, trying to ease her stress. Amanda rolled her neck and moaned softly as Liv's hands felt good and she was starting to relax. Olivia was really proving that she was there for Amanda and wasn't running. When Liv was done she gently turned Amanda to face her. Looking deep into her eyes, she cupped Amanda's chin gently and kissed her sweetly. Olivia really was in love with Amanda it just took a bit to feel safe in the feelings. Olivia was just as insecure as Amanda was, if that made sense. She had been hurt just as Amanda had. The kiss lingered til they were both out of breath and looking into each others eyes, that hazy, glazed look coming from both of them.
Just as they had broken the kiss, and were having a comfortable silence, the boys came down as Brayden wanted to get this meeting done and over with. When he and Noah saw their moms, they instantly smirked and knew they walked down on something. So Brayden being the ever so blunt teenager that he was looks at them and said "Umm did we come down at a bad time? It seems like we interrupted something yall need to finish. This meeting can wait ya know." Brayden said it all with a smirk and a wink.
Amanda blushed deeply, "Brayden Thomas Rollins, boy you hush your mouth." Brayden giggled. Trying to keep his mind in a good space. He knew he was doing the right thing, though he did have a little bit of second thoughts as he thought his dad should have to face his consequences for his actions, but he just wasn't up to an actual court hearing. Olivia stepped in and looked at Brayden, "I'm here too, so is Noah. We are going to get you through this. You and your mom will not be alone through this. I promise." He smiled and told Olivia thanks.
They remained pretty quiet as they headed to the courthouse. Brayden constantly cracking his knuckles. Amanda took this time to speak softly.
"Bray I know when you get there, you're first instinct is going to be to lose your shit. That's what he wants. You need to keep your cool. Stay calm and collected, before you say anything. I know what he did, I know I almost lost you. Please."
He took in everything his mom was saying. He knew she had a point. "I'll try my hardest mama. I promise."
CourtHouse
They pulled into the courthouse parking lot. Once parked Olivia took Amanda's hand in her own and squeezed it lightly for support. Amanda squeezed it back. They all walked inside the courthouse, through the metal detector. Fun shit, Amanda hated those things. The judge had Derek in his chambers, and when they got there he had the court appointed officer bring Amanda and Brayden in. His father sitting in the chambers his hands and feet shackled. When he saw his father he balled his fists but then let it out. Derek however gave that smart ass smirk. The judge however was having none of it. "Mr. Thomas I will not have any intimidation tactics in my chambers. That understood. I can just put you back in jail and that will be it. I am doing this as to there will not be a public trial. With it being that way, I am the judge and jury. Keep that in mind."
Derek just sat back. Clearly not happy with this meeting but trying to stay on his best behavior. The judge looked at Amanda, then at Brayden. Amazed at the young man's respect. "Brayden, I would like to hear what you have to say. So please, tell your father here what's on your mind."
Brayden looked at his father, then the judge and then his mama. He had a lot to say and was wording it in his head. He cracked his knuckles and his neck.
"First off I'm not calling you 'dad' you're Derek to me. I am not some kid who fears you. I never was, cause I never got to know you. You never got to know me. You did however feel the need to judge me and call me names, but you never took the time to get to know me. That's pretty damn sad, I come from you and mom and I have never been good enough for you. You had a problem with me dancing as a kid. You even called me those names as a kid. I danced as a kid and put on silly dance shows cause I liked to. You called me names. You and mom fought alot. What I didn't know was how much you actually hated me. Yes you hated me. Why else would you shoot me? Why else would you of all people, my supposed father call me a 'faggot fairy'? So you tell me Derek. Why the hell do you hate me so much?"
Derek looked at him. Rolling his eyes.
"First off boy, or should I call you 'girlfriend' since you like to dance so much. Only faggots and or fairies do that, and you do that so hence the name. However I told Amanda that no kid of mine would do that. So I don't think of you as a boy for one or my son for another. So I don't know why you wanted to see me. You're not my kid. Your mother was the campus slut and easier than anything. Why do you think I was married to her. Plus she liked women too so it was hot. To me your just a lil fairy dancer, who wouldn't make it in Georgia, you like things shoved up your ass boy? Well that's what we do to those people down south. I tried to put you out of your own misery but you survived unfortunately."
The judge watched this exchange. He didn't expect it to get heated so quickly. He did see the point that Brayden was making and couldn't fathom why Derek hated him so much, cause that is all he felt when Derek spoke, pure hate.
Brayden looked at the man that was supposedly his father. Still not being able to fathom the hate that the man had for him and it was all cause he liked to dance. That was the reason.
"Still never answered the question Derek. But that's fine. It just shows you're not really the big bad ass man you claim to be. Granted I am only thirteen years old but I am wise beyond my years. You shot me for no damn reason, damn near killing me. You didn't give a shit. I want to know and deserve a damn answer why the hell you hate me so damn much. Are you man enough to answer that?"
Derek gave a cold stare. The type of stare that could send chills through your body.
"First off little boy. Who the hell do you think you are talking to me like that? Those are some big balls from a faggot. Let me ask you this? Since you are putting on this big man act though you're just a little pussy boy. Wanna know how you were born? Cause I'll tell ya and it's got nothing to do with the birds and the bees. Well you were created as I took what your precious mama owed me. I didn't want no kids, so I was forced to marry her. Didn't want to marry her as she was a damn dyke. How does that get ya. Ya I took from your mama, she had you when I told her to abort you. I didn't want a kid, and I sure as shit didn't want you after I saw you were nothing but a no good lil fairy boy. So do me a favor and get the hell out of here."
The judge banged his gavel on the table. He had heard enough. Brayden was being respectful to this man and this man was just incorrigible. He spoke telling both Brayden and Derek that he had heard enough. He glanced at Amanda sitting by the door with Olivia and Noah.
"I have heard enough! What I am hearing in this room is infuriating. Mr. Thomas, you show so much hate towards your child it blows my mind. What is even worse is you knowingly shot your child almost killing him. You show no remorse or anything, that is just so disturbing. So with that, I am going to make my ruling. You Derek Thomas, I sentence you to life in prison without the possibility of parole. The main charge being attempted murder. I haven't decided if you will be in gen pop, or solitary confinement. That I can give my full decision in five days. The trauma you caused this young man though some of it is irreparable damage, some he can heal from. You just left him with memories and such. You will however continue to spend your time right here in jail til I make my final decision."
Derek looked at the judge and at Brayden his eyes blazing. He wanted to be away from the public as he had tried to kill his son, he knew what they would do to him.
"You fucking lied. You fucking lying no good fucking faggot. Just like your mother all you do is lie. I should have killed you."
The judge had enough telling Amanda, Brayden, Olivia and Noah to meet him out in the courtroom. He wanted to get Derek back in lockup. It took a few minutes and Brayden was just talking with Noah and calming down. Proud of himself for holding his own and not backing down but also keeping his cool. Olivia just put her hand on Amanda's shoulder being as supportive as she could. The judge walked in a little bit later.
"Miss Rollins, Brayden. I want to say thank you for not losing your cool in there. I know it wasn't easy, especially for you Miss Rollins when you were hearing all of that hate come out. Brayden I apologize for that, I know it's not me but hearing a father talk like that to his own child, it doesn't set well with me. It never has and it never will. However with all that being said, Mr. Thomas will be spending life in prison without the possiblity of parole. A person with that amount of hate inside him is a danger not only to you both but to my community I can't knowingly release him back to the public with him being that dangerous. I'm going to have you all leave. Please take it easy and please know you are going to be safe and he will never hurt you again."
What do you think? The judge really didn't like how Derek was reacting to Brayden. That proved in his sentence. No more Derek for a bit. What do you think will happen? Liv and Amanda shared quite a heated kiss. Will things go further with them? Cementing their relationship?
Let me know what you think. AS ALWAYS i WELCOME A POSTITIVE EXCHANGE AND CRITICISM IF YOURE GONNA COMPLAIN CAUSE YOU DONT LIKE THE CHARACTER OR THE WAY THEY ARE WRITTEN DONT BOTHER.
