Love in an elevator - Taekook

I pressed the elevator button and watched as it descended two floors, ready to open on my level, high above the city centre. I was looking down at my phone when the doors opened and took a step towards the open doors, noticing two men moving away from each other and pulling their masks back in place over their mouths. I'd seen enough though and leaning forwards to press the ground button, I tucked myself in a corner trying to decide whether to say anything.

The one in a stripped down suit, moved back closer to the one in the bucket hat, unconsciously touching his mouth over his mask. Both were leaning against the wall, pretending they weren't just making out before the door opened and I wanted to give them some privacy to gather themselves.

Looking down at my phone again, I could see them making eye contact out of the corner of my eye. Clearly, getting caught in an elevator by a random stranger was a turn on as the tension was palpable and their eyes met in steamy looks above the masks. Bucket Hat looked like he would break out in giggles at any time and Suits had an intensity in his eyes that said he was out to devour his prey. It felt like new love being played out right in front of me even though I had a feeling this sort of thing had been going on for years.

The bell dinged again as the elevator slowed and a man holding some papers climbed in and pressed the button for 3 floors down. I rolled my eyes, apparently he was too busy to walk down a few flights of stairs. The building had 40 levels and we weren't even halfway down yet. If people kept getting on, I'm not sure they'd be able to contain themselves all the way to the ground floor without combusting. The man with the papers seemed to take up a lot of space as he entered and Suits pressed himself back against Bucket Hat to make sure they didn't touch him. This seemed to heighten the tension in the lift, Suits eyebrows raising slightly at something happening behind his back.

I smiled and looked at my phone like it was the most interesting thing on the planet, trying not to purse my lips in amusement. For here I was, part of the love story I'd only read about and half the ARMY didn't believe was real.

When paper man got off in a few floors, I wondered if they'd separate again but they seemed to not consider me a threat and although they didn't go back to PDA, they didn't automatically break apart, their magnetism keeping them together. Instead, Suits very carefully tucked his hand behind his back and linked it with Bucket Hat, a contented silence falling as they leaned against each other.

Surprisingly, no-one else did get on and the elevator shot down to the ground in no time. They stayed back, politely indicating for me to go first and I went to leave, wishing I could say something to acknowledge what their music had done for me but not wanting to interfere with their private time.

As I took a step out, I noticed two photographers off to my left with cameras ready and quickly stepped back in again, blocking the doors from closing, holding my hand up. "There are cameras," I said to them and they looked startled, glancing at each other. "In case you want to take a moment," I finished, hoping I wasn't being obtrusive but wanting to protect them from the media.

"Thank you," came Suits deep voice in reply and softly spoke to Bucket Hat. Almost by unspoken agreement, Suits took a step out and started to walk towards the exit door, Bucket Hat staying behind with a sigh. I looked between the two and went to leave when a voice stopped me. "That was very kind."

"You deserve to be happy" I said, turning to meet his beautiful, soft eyes. "Both of you and the other five, you honestly have no idea how much having you in my world has changed my happiness. I'm very thankful. And I won't say anything to anybody." I held a finger heart up and took a step out as the doors begun to close, realising he was going to ride the elevator a little and come out separately. What a life they lived, what a complicated love story. His eyes followed me and he gave a small bow, returning my heart with one of his own before the doors closed.

In a bit of a daze I walked towards the front doors and out into the sunshine. A ways ahead of me, I watched Suits take out his phone and text, assuming a rendezvous spot was being made for when Bucket Hat came back down. He tucked himself into the side of a doorway and as I went to go past he stopped me with his words.

"He said you're ARMY. Thank you for keeping us in your heart."

"And a secret," I added, smiling. "Love big," and his answering smile, hidden behind the mask, could be seen in his eyes.

"I wish the same for you," he replied with a bow and I nodded, taking more steps away from him. Steps towards my own happiness.

Later that day, Suits posted on his story, deleting it 5 minutes after he did but it was captured by fans and circulated the fandom with all sorts of theories as to what it could mean. I just stared at the black screen that simply said "Thank you ARMY, it meant a lot" with Love in an Elevator playing softly in the background. "Message received," I thought as I clutched the phone to my chest, thinking that truly, love was a beautiful thing.
