A/N - I wasn't actually going to release this one for a few weeks because I've done a few Yoongi ones recently but in honour of his album releasing today, here is Amygdala, enjoy!

Amygdala - Yoongi

We had a night off, rare when we were in other countries. While some had set up meetings for solo work, opted for a quiet night in or were hanging out over a meal, I'd found a speaker I wanted to hear talking about the brain. I'd stumbled upon the talk online when I'd been mindlessly googling things to do near me and it sounded interesting, I always wanted to stretch myself to learn something new. So, I'd asked one of our translators, Nicole, to go with me and we'd walked, masked up, heads down to a little cafe nearby which was the venue for the talk.

Arriving close to the start time, we saw chairs set out, a few people already seated but others milling around talking. The vibe was casual but there were enough people that I would likely go unnoticed and we walked towards seats at the back, as close as we could get to the door for an easy escape. My eyes slid over people, taking in the group that would be sitting through the talk with me and then I saw the cutest soft smile, dimples either side of it that seemed to appear out of nowhere as she talked to someone next to her. Almost as if she could sense I was looking at her, she turned as her smile disappeared and an intensity appeared that stopped me in my tracks. Literally. I stopped walking, feeling an instant connection. Because the cuteness that went away with the dimples was replaced by a siren calling to me as her lips parted a little and our eyes met. She blinked, eyed me up and down without moving her head and swallowed and more than anything, in that moment, I wanted everyone else in the room to disappear. Because I found everything about the way she was moving alluring. And she hadn't even spoken yet.

"Do you want to sit here Yoongi-ssi," Nicole asked, indicating three empty seats and I nodded, dragging my eyes away from 'her.' We sat down, security making sure to sit on the side closest to all the people, just in case he was needed but this wasn't that kind of gathering and I was sure I'd be OK. Still, protocol said he had to be there and my security staff was used to attending things with me that others might've found boring.

Soon enough, someone grabbed a microphone and everyone finished sitting down, my eyes automatically going to the woman whose eyes had held mine captive as she sat in the front row. It didn't go unnoticed that she was graceful as she sunk into the chair, waves of her hair falling down her back in a honey colour that made me want to pick up a pen and write a song to do it justice. 'I need to chill out,' I thought to myself.

"Welcome everyone," the MCs voice cut across the room and silence started to sweep across the people as they shuffled in their seats. "I know we're all really interested to hear from our speaker today as she talks about some of the things from her book. Of course you can buy that at the end tonight so let me introduce you today to Bella Blake," and we all clapped a welcome.

She stood up, reaching to take the microphone from him, looking a little bashful at his introduction but speaking clearly. "Thank you. Well, I'm Bella and tonight I was kind of hoping it would be more informal. I'll tell you a little bit and then open up to any questions you might have." Her tone was lower than I pictured and every bit as sexy as I thought it would be. Bella, her name meant beautiful. Definitely fitting. She was simply dressed in skinny jeans, comfortable boots that sat over her ankles, long flowing top that revealed next to nothing and that made it all the more attractive. My brain was firing all over the place.

Tuning back into what she was saying, I listened carefully, Nicole translating quietly next to me but I was picking up on more than I thought I would, my English much improved after all the years of international travel.

"And so I became fascinated with that part of the brain. What happens when it triggers your fight or flight response in a scary or uncertain situation and why? What happens in the brain that makes you want or need to run?" She was looking around as she talked, eyes landing briefly on people before moving on, seemingly comfortable talking about a subject she was passionate about, probably like I was with talking about music.

As she looked my way she stopped moving, directing her gaze in our direction. "Of course I'm talking about the,"

"Amygdala," I mouthed along with her and her eyebrows raised in surprise. Maybe I didn't look like someone who knew about parts of the brain but I was wanting to know how they worked. Maybe knowing meant I could unlock something inside me that would lead to creating a different kind of music. I bowed my head a little in acknowledgement of our quick connection, face not betraying anything.

"about the amygdala. The book is about my discovery and what that has meant to the way I view life. I'll read an excerpt from chapter 1 and then take questions," and she smiled, reaching for the book the MC was handing her as she opened to the right page.

I was listening I told myself as she read but I really wasn't nor to Nicole as she translated although I appreciated what she was doing. Instead, I was focusing on her posture as she stood, relaxed but tall, confident in herself. That I found very attractive. I could reassure a woman they were pretty or amazing but unless they had belief in themselves, it was a battle for them to believe it. I had a feeling Bella knew she was intelligent and she could hold her own in most situations. Something about her was fierce, maybe it was the intensity I had seen in her eyes earlier that made me think that.

When she opened it up to questions, I found it interesting, how caught up Bella got in what she was saying, how much she knew but communicated in a way that everyone could understand. At the end, the clapping of approval was genuine, the almost two hours sped by and very well spent.

"Shall we go," security asked, eyeing up the people. We usually escaped before the end of something to avoid any detection but I'd leaned over near the end and said I wanted to stay for the whole thing. But now I could see he was getting antsy to leave.

"Actually, I want to buy the book," I answered, standing up.

"I can go do that for you," Nicole offered.

"I'd also like to get it signed so I'll do it," I replied and saw them both look at each other before back to me. I rolled my eyes. "And thank you but I don't need help for this part," and I strode over to the book stand, mask in place, head down a little. My English wasn't the best but I only wanted to say a few words anyway and I didn't need an audience for it.

She was sitting at a table, a few people already bringing books over to sign, talking to her briefly. As I walked up to her, I felt a little awkward, hovering as the last person finished, rubbing the back of my neck.

"What name shall I make it out to," she asked, as I handed the book to her, making sure to avoid her hand as I did. I knew if they met, it would be noticeable that mine shook, just a little. Not from nerves but from adrenaline. It was pumping through my body, causing my body to throng.

"Min Yoongi, I can spell that if you like," I said in careful English but her hand had already paused before her eyes looked up and met mine again.

"I know how to spell that, in English and in Korean," she answered and the surprise must've registered in my eyes as she laughed.

"I know who you are too, by the way you walk and now, definitely by your voice. I appreciate your music."

"Thank you," I said, a little surprised. "I appreciate your brain."

She laughed. "I could say the same about you. To create the lyrics you do, yours is beautiful."

I looked at her for a moment, at the book she'd handed back to me, buying time while I read what she'd written. "To Min Yoongi, you already have a beautiful mind. Let me know if you want to unlock more of it. B.B. Xx"

"Do you give private lessons then," I asked, hoping, really really hoping, she'd say yes.

"Never before but there's always a first time," she said directly, openly, very clearly.

"OK then," I answered.

"OK?"

"I don't know how to answer that to be honest," I said, glancing at my security who was standing with his arms crossed, watching me closely. I turned my back a little so they couldn't read my mouth.

"So, fight or flight, what is it telling you to do now," she asked, turning her head slightly to take in every nuance of my reply.

"It's definitely telling me to stay," I answered, not looking away, surprising myself. I didn't love eye contact.

"You can always run you know but sometimes you run towards something rather than away. Like into a burning house to save someone. Flight doesn't always mean to run away."

"I said it was telling me to stay," I said, and it sounded harsh to my ears, knowing I could sound gruff sometimes even when I didn't mean to so I tried again, this time to soften it. "I want to stay."

"Well, alright then. Coffee?"

"Yes, I like coffee."

"We're almost done here so now?"

"Yes," I answered again without having to think, knowing I'd have to sort something so that we could be alone. "Let me just go talk to my friends and then I'll come back."

"Sounds good Min Yoongi."

"Just Yoongi is fine," I said with a bow, walking back with my signed book and handing it to my security.

"So, I'm going to stay and have a coffee with Bella to talk some more, you can escort Nicole home."

"You know I can't do that Yoongi-ssi."

"Nothing is going to happen, you've seen it's very laid back."

"You know I still can't let that happen, I'm sorry."

I sighed, nodding, thinking. "OK, how about we call for a car for Nicole and you stay for me. But please hyung, I want some space."

"I understand and of course, I'll sort the car now."

Thanking him and Nicole, I walked back, Bella now gathering her stuff together as the cafe emptied out and I felt a little awkward, unsure of where I should stand or what I should do with my hands. So, I put them behind my back, looking at the books on the shelves of the cafe as she tidied up before walking over to me. I felt the shift in the air when she approached and the motion carried something. The scent of coconut and something more subtle. It was my new favourite smell but I refrained from leaning in to see if it was coming from her hair.

"I hired the cafe for the evening and I have the code to lock up so we can stay here, I can make you a coffee?"

"Sure, or I can make you one? We had lessons once and I make a pretty good Lemon Espresso."

"That's very specific, a latte is good enough for me."

"I can do those too," I replied.

"I'm sure you can do anything you set your mind to Yoongi," she answered, walking round to the coffee machine and getting things ready.

Walking quickly over to hyung, Nicole already collected in a company car, I spoke. "We are going to stay here. Please, if you do a sweep of the place, can we then lock ourselves inside and you give us some space? Call a car even and wait outside? I appreciate you hyung but you know there are some times when I'd like to be left to myself."

He sighed but nodded. "Only because I can see no-one else is here and I can wait right outside. You do deserve to have a life Yoongi-ssi. I'll call the car now and lock the door as I'm leaving."

"I'm grateful," I answered, bowing with a smile before walking with purpose back over to Bella. If we only had the evening, I wanted to make the most of whatever time we had.

"That was security," I said by way of small explanation.

"I know," she said, a smile on her face as she watched me walk around behind the counter.

"They're going to wait outside so we can talk a little more openly."

"I like that plan," she said, her smile widening and mine was instant in return, knowing it must've hit my eyes and reflected what I was feeling. Simple pleasure in being alone with her. "What will you drink, I've started my latte already."

"I'll have an iced americano but I can make it," I offered, leaning on the counter to watch her.

"No need, I know you can but I don't mind. So, how long are you in town," she asked, conversation falling easily from her lips. Her pretty, pretty, strawberry tinted lips. I could also tell she was moderating her words, speaking a little slower, aware English wasn't my first language and that she needed to keep it simple for me to keep up.

"Just another week but we're back in about two months."

"What are you doing with the rest of your week," she asked.

"Music, interviews, videos, you know."

"I don't really, it all sounds fascinating."

I just shrugged, aware my lifestyle might seem exotic and exciting to others. To me it was work. "You said you could write my name in Korean, do you know a little?"

"I make a point to learn about the things I like Yoongi," she answered and I felt what she said, flattered she'd said it and enjoying the fact she was being so transparent without coming out and saying exactly what she meant. I understood, at least I thought I did. She liked me. Handing me my drink, I took it, grateful to have something to do with my hands.

"This is great," I said, thanking her after I'd taken a sip.

"I have skills with coffee making too," she joked.

"I have no doubt," watching her as I enjoyed the icy sweetness.

"It was actually one of my first jobs, making coffees."

"We all have to start somewhere."

"I know where you began," she commented, "and I'm so happy to see where you all are now."

"ARMY?" It was always a strange question, especially if they said no but usually we could tell.

"If I said no, what would you do," she asked.

"Turn on the charm, make you want to be."

"You're perfectly charming without turning anything on. Although I might already be." And I wasn't sure if she meant ARMY or turned on. Either way, things were churning inside me as we bantered and I was living for it.

I felt fidgety, wanting to get closer to her but thinking it was too soon. Walking around the cafe, I went into a dim corner I hadn't seen earlier, piano tucked against a wall. Pulling out the piano bench, I sat down and opened the lid, fingers resting on the keys. Taking a deep breath, my hands moved and I instantly relaxed, the piano was in tune and had a beautiful tone to it so I warmed up before using muscle memory to spill my feelings out into the air.

Bella came over to sit next to me, leaning slightly without touching as she sipped her cuppa and I was so conscious of the sounds under my touch, the warmth coming from having her being close and schooling my expression to be impassive. I knew it was all going to get jumbled unless I focused on just one of those things. So I played, letting whatever look my face was wearing be the real me in that moment, just enjoying creating the music for a few minutes.

The music stopped as I reached the end, last phrase echoing through the cafe and I kept my fingers resting on the keyboard as I closed my eyes and felt it resonate. There was movement next to me and as I opened my eyes, I saw Bella settling over the bench in a different way, straddling it so she was turned to my profile. Her coffee was abandoned and she was leaning forward a little, hands resting on her own thighs as I looked down at them before moving my own to rest on top of hers. It felt right as I moved them gently, settling them on hers, stopping myself from properly linking them together.

Turning a little myself, legs still tucked under the piano, my body angled to open up towards hers, I moved very slowly forward, watching her lips, aware we both wanted this. If I could read body language correctly that is and oh, I hoped I was right. As her eyes moved to my mouth and she exhaled, I felt a rush of emotions flood over me, happy to take my time as the space between us shrunk. Every freckle on her pale skin, the few strands of hair that fell around her cheeks, the dainty earrings in her cute, petite ears and the perfect heart shape of her mouth as it pressed against mine when we finally touched. Just our lips. Bodies still held apart, shoulders close but not connecting, hands resting relaxed together. The kiss was sweet, soft and brief before we pulled apart, appraising each other without talking. And then my hand came up to her waist, sliding myself closer.

"What part of the brain tells me to make sure this space between us disappears for a really long time?"

"I don't think the part of you that is thinking about that is your brain Yoongi," she grinned and I smiled back, truly captivated by her.

"You're probably right about that," I replied, swinging my leg over the bench to mirror her body, sliding so our knees were touching as I took her face, loving the way her jaw and neck fit in my large hands before our lips met again. This time it was breathless, heated and rough, mouths not getting enough from each other but not wanting to break away from what we were feeling.

"Fight or flight," she asked as eventually we had to breathe, sizing each other up even as I knew I needed more.

"I'm definitely not running away from this," I answered, thinking that maybe I had finally met someone who could be my match.
