Harry apparated in a dark place and immediately felt cold. A quick warming charm on him and his companion fixed the problem. He cast Lumos charm to be able to see his surroundings. He laid the scientist down on one of the pillars and had the first good look at the person.
He recognized her. She had come to his cell once before trying to get him to answer the question of the stargate. It was fun pretending not to understand what she was saying, watching as her face turned red and red at his inability to understand her basic queries; it got so frustrating that she stomped out of his cell.
Harry smiled the whole day after that.
He quickly took out one of his luggage, bent down to open it, and called out, "Kreacher, Dobby and wink."
Soon, there were multiple pops, and all three house elves appeared before him. Dobby was bouncing as expected, looking around with his comprehensive eye. Winky looked around with amazement, and Kreacher seemed as bored as if this place was beneath him.
"So, the master was successful," Dobby asked happily, bouncing from one foot to another.
"Yes, Dobby, we were successful", Harry replied.
"This place is too dirty. Is Master allowing Winky to clean it," Winky asked, looking around the place.
"What! Do you want to clean this place?" Harry asked in surprise. Both Dobby and Winky nodded their head in agreement.
"Okay, I guess, but make sure you are careful not to do anything you think is dangerous and overexert yourself," Harry ordered. With a node, both vanished.
"Okay, that leaves us, Kreacher", Harry said, turning his face up from one side to another to see the base.
"Kreacher, can you keep an eye on her? While I look around, make sure she does not touch anything," Harry asked.
"Kreacher will keep an eye on Master's muggle prisoner. Oh! How Kreacher's mistress will be happy hearing it. Kreacher will make sure Master's muggle prisoner does not touch anything." Kreacher said. Harry grimaced and walked away; he had long ago learned not to argue with Kreacher as Kreacher was too set in his ways and was too old to change.
As Harry began exploring the base, He saw that everything was covered with ice from the floor to the ceiling, and even the machine was covered with it. Harry was sure he would tumble everywhere if his shoes were not covered with friction charm.
Harry came across a chair on a raised dais as he explored the base. He could tell it was necessary by looking at the chair, so he cast all sorts of detection charms when they all came back negative for any harmful intent. He sat on the chair; as soon as he sat down, the chair became reclining, and its arms began to glow as well as its headrest, and he knew no more.
Dobby pov
As soon as Master Harry sat down on the chair. He, Winky and Kreacher felt the ambient magic of this place increase, and the light began to come to life.
He and Winky were cleaning the place, and they had begun by removing ice from the walls.
"It's so dirty; Winky don't like it at all," Winky said
"Be careful; The Great Master Harry Potter said not to overexert ourselves," Dobby warned.
"But it is too dirty for Winky's Master to live here. Winky want to clean everything up, but Winky does not want to disturb the Master also. Winky does not know what to do, bad Winky, bad Winky." Winky looked on the verge of crying, pulling her long ears down. He tried to comfort her by placing his hand on her shoulders, but it did not have any effect.
" What is going on here? Kreacher is trying to do the work that the Young Master has given Kreacher of watching over his muggle prisoner; oh, how the young Master knows Kreacher. Mistress would be so proud, and this noise distracts Kreacher from doing Kreacher's job." Kreacher inquired. Dobby quickly explained the issue.
Kreacher thought about it and said, "Okay, Master has been obvious that you should not over-exert yourself, but Master has not said anything about you two doing all the work alone. You could ask Master other elves for help."
"But should not we ask Master about it?" Winky now seemed to be quiet with a thoughtful look on her face.
This time, Dobby interjected, "Winky, you want this place to be clean, right?" At Winky node, he continued, "And we both cannot do this job alone without disobeying Master order, right?" Again, waiting for Winky's node, he said, "We are using Masters elves only, and they are without work." at the last comment, Winky seemed convinced. Seeing this resolved, Kreacher walked out of there, muttering, "Young elves distracting him from following young Master orders, oh want his mistress would say."
After some time, Dobby stood before around 250 elves like a drill commander, saying, "This is Master's new base. As you can see, it requires a good cleaning. Master is busy in the big glowing chair, and we will clean this place up before Master wakes, will we not."
" Yes, we will", came the reply from the elves.
"As this is a new place, first, we will explore it thoroughly, so I want you all to fan out and create a map of this place, the damage and the cleaning required," Dobby said, and all the elves disappeared with a pop. After looking at the space for some time, Dobby vanished with a pop.
After some time, when he came back, he saw that a place had been cleared, with the big elf's size table on which now stood a 3D map of this outpost, he assumed. From what he can see, it contains six floors and is a hexagonal structure. Some elves were busy adding a new room as they were found. At the same time, some older elves were studying it thoroughly. As Dobby approached them, one of the older elves gestured for him to come closer.
"This outpost seems to be in great shape, considering it is around 10 million years old. Some walls have caved in, but that is to be expected after such a long time. We are also under several hundred feet of snow. The problem is that the ice is currently providing stability to the wall to hold back the snow. Still, as Master's magic is flowing through the chair, this place seems to be running on it, which has allowed the light to come on, generating heat as more and more of Master's magic flows through it. Other systems are coming online, which melt more ice. We fear that as the stability provided by ice disappears, there will be a big cave-in," the elf said.
Dobby thought of something and said," What if we raise this outpost to the ground level? We have enough elves to easily do it, after which it will be only a matter of melting the ice and cleaning the place as Master ordered."
"Yes, that could work. It would require precise calculation and planning, but it could be done. We can ward this outpost so the muggles close to us do not notice. Now go away. We have much to plan," the elf said as he returned to studying the map. Dobby just nodded and pooped away.
It had been two days since that discussion. Still, all the elves were confident that they could do it with minimum danger of collapsing on themselves. They could have done this yesterday only, but the elders wanted to be sure as well as they needed to reinforce and repair the areas which have drifted due to being in glacier activity. With some magic, they quickly found them. Ice is a great preserver. They have yet to find everything, just the important ones.
So with the node from the elders, all the elves apparated to the top of the surface, each taking the designated place above the surface, prepared before.
After each elf had checked itself and the other of their position, They all began chanting and focusing the magic downward toward the outpost. Nothing happened for 15 minutes, but the elves continued pouring their magic toward the outpost. Then, they felt that the outpost started to move.
As it happened, they felt the ground below their feet begin to shake, but the elders had already foreseen and planned this. This is why every elf was not standing directly on the ground but on a magically floated platform just above it. So they were unaffected by the ground movement.
After an hour and a half from when they started chanting, they saw the ground breakup and the ward deployed around the base come into view. At the almost-finished job, a big wave of happiness travelled across all the elves. Still, no one stopped and kept chanting, and slowly and slowly, all six outpost levels were above the ground.
The outpost was then moved from around ten to fifteen km to an open field where the ley lines were most potent and placed there. The ward surrounding the outpost made sure that no one could see anything.
McMurdo Station Antarctica
Edward was on the night shift with only a few hours left before the shift ended. Still, here in Antarctica, there was no difference between day and night as he was busy with his experiment. The Richard scale placed close to the laboratory door began registering a slight tremor, which only increased as time passed. This was not how the earthquake behaved. Fearing an Avalanche, he immediately pressed the red button, putting the bases on high alert and waking the sleeping people. But as the tremor started, it suddenly stopped.
Quickly, a team, including Edward, was sent out where the tremor's epicentre was determined, only six to seven Km away from the station. When they arrived, they all watched in amazement at the huge hole that was once the most stable frozen land.
Ohh! Writing the house elf speech is difficult. It took me 5 to 6 hours to write that anyway. Enjoy
