So I decided I need to get this story moving quickly so Scarecrow finishes Enna's costume in this chapter.
The rest of the day Jonathan dedicated to finishing Enna's costume and since Jonathan had given Enna a book to read, she was content to occupy her time reading, as she found herself utterly enthralled by the story, she often took a moment to stop and think about why she didn't like reading before, thinking back the Young Otter Mutant was just really hyper as was typical of her species, sitting down and looking at just words on a page wasn't enough to get her to sit still, compared to the sound and moving pictures of the TV was better able to hold her attention but seemed like the lack of other distractions, the soothing tick tock of the clock helping her concentrate and the fact she wanted to please the human who had rescued her seemed to help her be able to sit still and read a book.
It was late at night when Jonathan came downstairs bareing the finished costume
"Oh it's beautiful!" Enna exclaimed
Jonathan made the costume from bits of red, brown and green cloth that he had cut into the shapes of autumn leaves, in truth he wanted the leaves to be red, brown and black but he had a shortage of black cloth so he used green instead.
Enna took the costume and went into the next room to change into her new costume and look in the full length mirror.
"It's not quite complete..." Jonathan said as he came into the net room, something for your face.
He draped over her head a little red 'hood' really it was just a piece of red cloth that covered her head with holes cut out for her eyes, but left her muzzle completely exposed.
"I kind of look like a circus clown..." Enna giggled
'...Or a jester...' Jonathan thought as he realized how much the costume turned out like Harely Quinn's jester outfit, he tried to make it more 'Scarecrow' or at least more 'Autumn' cutting the pieces to look like Autumn leaves but still he couldn't help but feel it was because Enna's bubbly and jubilant personality reminded him so much of Harley that drove him to make the costume so similar.
Meanwhile the Turtles' Battle Shell had just entered Gotham City, and even as they entered Gotham the Turtles felt a chill go down their carapaces, something seemed to tell them they had entered another world, they had lived in New York City all their lives, but upon seeing the eternal 1950s look of Gotham, compared to the all the far more modern eras the Turtles had lived through, having been first Mutated as infants in 1988, their childhood had been the 1990s and as their adventures started in the early 2000s the sounds of Hip Hop on Boomboxes and the sight of various young people, some gang members, some not with multicolored hair in mohawks and various piercings made the Turtles realized in a weird way they could fit in better in that world of New York better than they could in their world, theis city still clinging to the earlier half of the 20th century would be even more hostile to freaks like themselves, the time before the enviromental and animal conservation movements, passing by what was labeled a 'Gentleman's Club' gave the Turtles fleeting thoughts of being taxidermied and displayed as a trophy of some rich man with a pith helmet
"Man..." Mikey said as he rubbed his arms to comfort himself from his fear induced chill "This place is giving me the creeps! Where are we gonna set up shop?"
"I don't think we should go into the sewers..." Don sighed "...That is the frequent haunt of Killer Croc...The exact oposite of Leatherhead, he's a human born with a skin condition but and dumb as a rock...I think it would be better if he looked for an abandonned building."
So I do draw paralells between Enna and Harley Quinn which I try to avoid because I really don't like how Harley has been put on a pedestel by the fandom, and I also felt that comparing the Art Deco style of BTAS really highlights my thoughts on the contrast between a character like Batman created in the Golden Era of Comics and the TMNT born in the 80s during a time on the verge of the comics Renaissance so of thinking how characters will always carry aspects of the time they were created
