Hogwarts Somewhere in Highlands, Scotland, Great Britain:
"So what is this place?" Sam asked Harry as they made their way through the entrance hall.
"This, this was my first home, the first place where I found joy, friend and love," Harry replied, unable to stop emotion from sweeping through his voice.
"Captain Carter, Captain Carter.." Harry said, looking around. Sam seemed to disappear from his side. He found Sam a few feet back, staring at the walls, pointing towards the walls. Thankfully, the bulla corpus had not exploded. It resembles a cylinder with curved ends with Harry and Sam at its side. It was funny if you look at it in a way, but it could be deadly if it burst. He has still not identified the disease that had affected Hogwarts. I must have put more magic into bulla corpus, then I realized, Harry thought.
He summed Sam toward himself with a wave of a wand. It caused her to slam into him. Harry, with years of quidditch training, easily caught her. Now, if this was some romance opera that his aunt loved to watch, then they both stare at each other eyes for a long time, fall in love and live happily after. But sadly for Harry, this was not, and Harry got a knee in his groin for the trouble. He did not need to explain to anyone what it felt like, at least not to the population without estrogen inside them, and the one who has, well, let it be, mystery us Y-chromosome folks need to have some secret as well. You folks with both X-chromosomes do not have all the patents out there on being mysterious.
"You jackal," Sam shouted over Harry's kneeling form.
With the pain he was feeling. Harry lost control of his magic, which began to come out of him in waves—causing Sam to be thrown back. She landed on her back, which was the only reason. She was still alive because the later waves were full of green glow, killing all the insects that had come to call Hogwart home after so many years of neglect. Harry slowly got up, his eye glowing with magic by now. The wave of magic coming out had stopped, but he was pissed. Unknown to even Harry himself, his eyes had turned yellow, and as Harry got his baring, some of the insects that had the misfortune of catching Harry's eye fell on the floor dead.
As Harry floated towards where Sam had landed on the floor, he did not even realize what he was doing. He could feel his magic flowing throughout his body like never before. He would go as far as to say it was singing to him, asking him for release and to use it to destroy the creature that had dared to hurt him. Sam was lifted off the floor and onto her feet with just a wave of a hand, but she could not move even a muscle. She was rigid as a statue.
"Never, I mean never do that again, do you understand," Harry said, speaking low, but it instilled an understanding in Sam that she doubted would have been conveyed if he was shouting. Sam was looking at his shoes because that was all she could see. Her eye was fixed in that position when she was lifted from the floor.
"I asked you a question?" came the quiet voice which demanded respect. If Sam had been able to, she would have been nodding like those figures with spring in their necks on your car dashboard, but she continued to look at his feet.
"I have been very generous with you guys. Your team shot and injured me, and then your team had the gal to kidnap me and keep me prisoner. That alone was enough for most of my enemies to die a painful death, and many have. You guys only survived because I was in good mode, and you guys helped me recover from the travel through the veil." Harry said Sam was unsure that he was talking to her. It looked like Harry was on a ramble.
"I am not the same person that I was at fifteen. I will not turn my other chick for you to slap or allow you to torture me silently. I will teach you a lesson so that every time you even think about doing it, you will remember it and think again." Harry finished. Now Sam was sure tha he was not speaking to her.
"Why are you looking at my feet and not replying." came Harry's voice laden with curiosity. Sam tried to tell him that she could not move even a muscle, let alone reply, but she was forced to remain silent.
"Oh!.." came the voice she was able to move again. She took a peek at Harry's face and sighed in relief when it was back to normal.
"Sorry, I understand," came a meek voice out of her. It sounded like the voice of a thirteen-year-old girl, not a grown one.
"Hey, you do not need to be afraid of me. I will not hurt you. You just brought up some unpleasant memories of my childhood. My childhood was not great before coming here." Harry tried to explain.
"Look around. Even the paintings are afraid of you. I cannot believe I said those words that had stopped me earlier. They were pointing at me." Sam said.
"What?" Harry said as he looked around.
"Oh! Sorry," all the paintings were hiding behind structures. Some who could not find anything were hiding behind another figure, all taking a peek from behind their cover and quickly ducking back.
A knight in full armour was first to come out of his cover and said shakingly, "Fear not, child, it happens. I was looking at the back of the table. I always wanted to do that, and now felt the right time." seeing the knight out the rest figure also started to come out dusting themself.
"Again, sorry, I have not lost control like this for at least a year. The memories that I thought were suppressed were clearly not." Harry said. As he turned back to Sam, he found her staring with wide eyes at him and the painting.
Finding Harry focused on her. She just said, "Please explain." Her voice was still not expected, but she was getting there.
Harry is happy to oblige. "This is Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. This old girl had taught and changed the lives of countless witches and wizards. Millions of our kind have passed through her hall. She had taken each of us in her arms and provided us with knowledge and, more importantly, a home where we could forget all our problems and enjoy our childhood. Four great witches and wizards made her. They were Godric Gryffindor, Rowena Ravenclaw, Helga Hufflepuff and Salazar Slytherin. These great people wanted to create a place where our kind could learn our craft safely and not worry about the persecution happening outside. She is a beacon for our kind. As long as She was there, everything would be alright no matter how blink it looked. To see her so deserted breaks my heart in ways you could not even imagine." Harry said, walking towards a wall and caressing it and, like multiple times he had done earlier, sending a slight ting of his magic inside the wall and, like always, Hogwarts reverted with its own, causing a smile to appear on his face.
"You talk as if this place is alive?" Sam asked.
"Hogwats was alive is clear to everyone who cared to look. The stairs change to take you to your class faster if you are late. You find yourself in the strange part of the Castle and find something you are not even aware you are looking for. She has been like a mother to me." Harry said.
"So what happened here? Why is it so deserted if it is a school? Where did all the students go?" Sam asked.
"I will find out the answer to the first question, Captain Carter. I will not rest until I answer the two Ws and H," Harry said. Harry clarified at Sam's confused look, "When Why, What and How?"
"For your second and third questions, let me show you," Harry said, throwing the doors of the Great Hall open.
"They are dead and for some time," Harry said. Although Harry had seen it before, the scene still affected him badly. He was just able to control his emotions more this time around. Sam did not have that luxury and was openly crying. He put a comforting arm around her shoulder and proved how the scene affected her that she did not even react.
"Let's look inside," Harry said and guided Sam inside.
"Some of them are so small?" Sam said. Harry just nodded. What more could he say?
"The children are still clutching their wand?" Sam said after some time as they looked around.
"Yes, wands are most important to our kind. It is integrated into every aspect of our life like a hand." Harry said.
"The adult draped over the bodies must be their parent," Sam said.
"No Healer or Professor. Children's lives are very precious to us. Most witches and wizards only have one child. This rule has some outliers, but generally, it is true, so each child is cherished and protected. This Healer and professors would have continued to treat the child even if all hope was lost and they were on their last breath. " Harry said.
Two pops sounded close to Harry, and Dis and Hudo appeared before him inside the bubble.
"Master, Dobby has checked some bodies. Their death was caused by Magical fever. So, Great Master Harry Potter is safe. Great Master Harry Potter has already had his potion." Dobby said.
"Oh Merlin, so many life cuts sort because of it," Harry said, stepping out of the bubble for the first time.
Dobby make preparations for the burial of these bodies. Find out everyone's age and name. They deserve a proper burial. You could cover Hogsmeade as well.
