So...Here we finally get the scoop behind Enna and her 'siblings' Mutation, Borden Willis in the original adventure he was featured in the book TMNT Adventures simply made his nephew a 'Bionic Man' here he's more about biology than technology and as an old Hippie from the 60s he has some lingering ideas which may not be compataible with reality.

Now Jervis Tetch was easy to recruit as he was already very sympathetic to Enna and while the appearance of the four turtles was indeed 'Curiouser and curiouser' the fact they seemed to have a different code than Batman and were willing to work with criminals to save a fellow Mutant meant he didn't see any harm with working with them...However the Turtles aware of his mind control technology were a little more uneasy about working with him.

"You try to slip any of your mind control chips on us..." Raph warned "...And I'll be knocking out those ugly teeth!"

Of course Riddler who had been wary about the concept of intelligent mutant animals from the beginning, was not pleased at the idea of working with Mutant vigilantes and to him this seemed like evidence that Mutants were more interested in protecting their own kind above all else that they would work with criminals like themselves probobly didn't matter much which humans they worked with as if they could they would likely eterminate the human race to take over the planet...

At that point Jonathan had heard enough and grabbed Nygma by his shirt collar.

"You listen here!" Scarecrow snapped "If I hear one more insult I will fear gas you Nygma! And I will leave you out for Batman to take to Arkham while still in the throes of delirum! I came to you for help Nygma! Enna isn't just an animal or a freak, she is a CHILD! We don't know how much danger she could be in...She could very possibly be dead already! But she is one of the few people who have ever caused me to actually feel something in my embittered heart, now you can help or you can be fear gassed the choice is your's!"

Now the Turtles standing back and watching this, felt very akward to say the least, this looked to them, like how a very dysfunctional family solved problems, there was camaraderie but it was fragile...Shallow...Members could betray each other on a whim...But already they were getting a sense in Scarecrow that something had begun to truly change in him, that after this he couldn't go back to terroizing innocent civilans that he had his eyes opened and he was beginning to feel empathy more people other than himself again, it wasn't just the mind trap, Enna herself had been the key to unlock his heart he had sealed away for fear of ever getting hurt again...

So they went to the place they believed they could find the mysterious Borden Willis.

"This looks like an old bunker..." Jonathan quietly remarked as they came to this building deep in the woods.

"The reason we came to Gotham in the first place..." Don said "...Is because we were accosted in the sewers by some Cyborg who wanted to take us to Gotham, he wasn't that bright and we were easily able to fight back, but as he retreated he said something about how his uncle wouldn't get help now...Seems like Enna may have been the clue to what his Uncle needed help with..."

Leo knocked on the heavy door, it was opened by a haggred looking man with shaggy hair and beard.

"Ah!" He said "The Ninja Turtles, you came to me on your own...Seems I didn't need to have you captured, sending Wilbur was enough to alert you that something needed investigating."

"Willbur is your nephew I presume..." Leo said a little unnerved this guy knew of them.

"Yes," Borden sighed "He prefers to be called 'Mr. Bionic' now it's such a shame that my intelligence didn't get passed down to my sister's son he barely got through high school and and the best he could do was deliver newspapers while living with his elderly mother..."

'If you're so concerned about your intelligence being passed down...'Jonathan thought as he entered the building '...Why didn't you have any children of your own?' but the moment he thought that he realized how rich that was coming from himself a bachelor in his mid-40s who hadn't thought much of Romance since high school...

Then he also realized the old Hippie didn't seem perturbed by three of Gotham's most nortorious criminals entering his bunker, he knew he had seen them, but he clearly seemed more interested in the Mutant Turtles, perhaps since he seemed to know about them he felt as long as the Turtles were there they wouldn;t let the Rogues do anything...That thought did not sit well with him...Something was...Off about this guy...A different kind of off than anyone at Arkham.

"I suppose I should tell you how this all got started..." Borden said as they approached a table covered with test tubes and vials of brightly colored liquids "...I was intitally struggling as a scientist to get any funding but then two...Financial consultants...Took an interest in me...I got my funding...And one night...After taking my...Herbal medicine...(Everyone knew he meant some kind of mind altering drugs) "I was filled with not a mere burst of inspiration...But a vision! A future in which all of Earth's creatures live in peace and harmony! Man and the animals all holding hands and dancing under the rainbow! Man has oppressed the other creatures of this planet for so long with his technology that I knew that the other creatures would never stand a chance, that they were at risk of being wiped out by man unless someone helped them rise up to be on equal footing with man...So throughout the night I worked through my visions to create my Elixer of Wisdom...The Athena Mixture...But unfortunatly because of the state of mind I was in at the time...I can't remember the recipe..."

"Oh no!" Jonathan groaned putting his hand on his masked forehead "...Are you telling me Enna and all her siblings were essentually 'Awakened' because they were being pumped full of psychdellics in utero?!"

Yeah I'm gonna leave the chapter on that mic drop line, but here I feel this is much better than the previous version of this story, because actually we've got a mad scientist who is the opposite of Feral at least initally it seems he loves animals and mutates them because he wants them to be equals to humans...But in following his ideal visions, he doesn't stop and think if they make sense or they can work out...So even if this isn't a Mizzer Humanimal story it does have a lot of the themes of Mizzer about the harm that can come from idealism
