This episode starts with a title card shown on the billboard. Sweepy Steve uses a paint roller to show a poster for Table Town Tunes. An announcer is heard off screen, saying "Brought to you by Table Town Tunes, the place where singers earn their fame and become household names!"

Kiff is staying over at Barry's house, as the two run up and down the stairs for fun. They try to outrun each other, but Kiff is the first to set foot off the stairs and on the ground floor.

"Aw, man! Beat me again!" Barry exclaims.

"Sorry, Bare. I can't help having above average agility." Kiff says as she stretches.

Barry changes the subject. "Did you see the latest episode of Holden Hamster, M.D.?"

"Like you have to ask! He saved a robot heart surgeon whose laser beams were on the fritz and a zombie accountant with goo eye."

"I know! I can't believe the zombie and robot turned out to be long lost brothers! I love that show! Mona the nurse is my favorite character." states Barry.

"She and Holden are like peanut butter and jelly. Like us!" Kiff exclaims.

"Aw." Barry replies in happiness.

"I can't wait for my Holden Hamster, M.D. cosplay to come in the mail! Sorry they were out of Mona Mongoose ones." states Kiff, excited at the beginning but sad at the end.

"Ugh, don't remind me! I would have killed with her eyeliner!" Barry says with a hint of sadness.

Just then, Barry and Kiff smell something in the air.

"Do you smell that?" Barry asks.

"Smell it? I can see it!" replies Kiff.

Kiff points to the animated smell in the air. Kiff and Barry hold hands as they excitedly yell, "Mom made her triple chocolate chip fudge cookies!"

Barry and Kiff rush to the Buns kitchen, where they see Harry and Terri already beat them to it.

"I call dibs!" Terri declares.

"Not so fast." Harry states, as he grabs one of the cookies. "First born privilege."

Terri protested, saying "Uh, uh, uh. Ladies first, Mom said."

"You know how it works around here, Ter." replies Harry. "I'm the oldest, ergo I get the first cookie."

"But I'm the only daughter, ergo, it's mine." Terri claims.

"Terri, I'm warning you. Don't make me turn my radio on full blast."

Terri calls Harry's bluff. "If you do that, I'll just make the airhorn my new ringtone."

Kiff looks concerned by their argument, but Barry is unfazed.

"Are they always like this?" Kiff inquires.

"This is nothing. You should've seen them when there was one slice of cake left. That was messy." Barry states ominously.

Harry and Terri yell at each other as they play tug of war for ownership of the first cookie. The commotion causes Mary to enter the room. She is seen carrying something underneath her left arm while holding Kristophe by the hand with her right.

"Don't make me put a lock on the cookie jar again!" Mary threatened.

Heeding their mother's warning, Harry and Terri immediately stop arguing and sit down at the dinner table.

"As the queen of the family, I get the first cookie." declares Mary, who eats the treat afterwards and enjoys it.

Terri takes notice of the black object in Mary's arms. "Mom, what's that?"

"Oh, this old thing? This, my dear pookie, is my scrapbook! Take a look inside!" says an encouraging Mary.

Mary opens her scrapbook. Everyone sees a picture of her wearing flannel and strumming a guitar.

"Whoa, Mom, is that you?" Harry asks.

"You bet, fluffy." Mary replies.

"Wow. Like, no offense, but that outfit is just cringe." Terri opines.

Mary corrects her daughter. "I think you mean grunge. It was popular when I was in high school in the mid '90s."

Barry is curious. "Ooh. How come you never told us you played guitar?"

"Well, I was in a grunge band during high school. It was fun, but I moved on." Mary explains.

"Do you still play guitar?" Kiff inquires.

"For sure, Kiffany! Whenever I have a mom moment." replies Mary.

"You know, I always thought it was just me who cared about music. It's pretty cool you do too, Mom." Harry states as he smiles.

"This is why we keep scrapbooks!" Mary says, in a way only a mother can.

"Can you play some tunes for us?" Kiff asks happily.

"Oh, I don't know. I mean, it's all the way in my closet and-" Mary suddenly grabs a wooden guitar out of nowhere. "Just messing with ya!"

Mary and the others leave for the living room, where everyone sits on the couch while she performs on the carpet. She strums her guitar, progressively using more and more chords. Harry is shown to be impressed, with Terri tapping her foot to the rhythm. Barry claps his hands while Kiff snaps her fingers. Lastly, Kristophe lets out a wide smile.

"You did great, Mom!" says a complimenting Terri.

"Yeah! You should play more often!" encourages Harry.

"Hold on! Let me get my violin!" states Barry.

Barry rushes up to the stairs at lightning speed, returning from his bedroom seconds letter with a violin and bow in hand. He and Mary proceed to engage in musical harmony, playing their instruments at the same time and resulting in a soothing, acoustic sound.

Terri gets up from the couch. "You know, I have a keyboard I've been using on and off to go viral. I'll be right back!"

Terri temporarily leaves before retrieving her electronic keyboard. She places it near Mary, and now the trio of Barry, Mary and Terri play their respective instruments. Terri presses the keys on her keyboard to a tune similar to a ha's "Take on Me." Harry and Kiff nod in approval at the combination of sounds.

"Hmm." Harry ponders something as he goes upstairs.

Harry returns with his DJ table and records on hand. He places it next to Barry. Harry proceeds to lightly press buttons while he plays records, creating harmony of his own. Harry bumps his head to the rhythm as four of the Bunses make music together.

Kristophe momentarily leaves the couch, confusing his family and Kiff. However, he returns with a xylophone in one hand and Farley with the other, showing he wants to play music like the others.

Mary gushes over her youngest son. "Oh, sunshine, you wanna play too? Come over here!"

She proceeds to place Kristophe in front of her, as all the Bunses make music together. Despite their eclectic tastes in music, it combines into a wonderful sound. Kiff is impressed, and she's ready to make a suggestion.

"You know, Mother's Day is coming up. You guys should perform together at Cafe Penguino!"

"Totally! We gotta honor Mom for giving us our musical talents." Terri proclaims.

"And for being the awesomest most wonderful mother in the world!" says Barry innocently.

"Sounds like fun. We can do it on Sunday since I'll be there anyway." states Harry.

"Oh! I have the best kids in the world!" Mary says in happiness, proceeding to hug her family.

"Too tight, Mom. Too tight." claims Harry, struggling to breathe.

Later, at Cafe Penguino, Harry introduces his family to the audience. Kiff is standing in the front row, smiling.

"DJ 11:30 here. For one brunch only, I'm gonna perform with my family! Say hello to my annoying sister Terri, naive brother Barry, little bro Kristophe and our mom, Mary. This is for you, Mom. Happy Mother's Day."

Mary smiles at Harry's dedication as the audience gives the Bunses a warm welcome by clapping. Barry looks nervous as he blushes, but Terri seems ready to jump out on stage.

Harry stays on stage to provide musical accompaniment for the other Bunses. Terri is the first to perform solo, playing her keyboard set to pop music and impressing some of the Tabletonians present.

Next, Barry uses his violin to produce classical music in the style of Niccolò Paganini, which puts some of those attending to sleep but succeeds in impressing highbrow and older denizens. Kiff claps in support of Barry.

After that, Kristophe arrives on stage with Farley in tow, and while his performance was well received, people were moreso thinking about how cute he was. Mary is now the one performing onstage, with her guitar playing being the highlight of the night as far as the audience was concerned.

Finally, Harry performs alone as the final Buns to close the show out, creating music using his DJ table buttons and records.

Roy Fox is shown to be in attendance, and takes notice of Harry. As Harry continues to perform, Roy makes a "finger frame," forming a rectangle using four of his fingers. He nods afterwards.

After Harry's performance, the audience gives him and his family a standing ovation.

"Thank you, Table Town! This has been DJ 11:30, signing out for the afternoon. Remember: keep talking so you won't stop rocking."

As the customers leave Cafe Penguino, including Kiff, Roy approaches the Buns family. At the same time, Harry takes off his DJ 11:30 mask.

Mary is curious. "Oh, hello. Do I know you?"

"No, but you're about to. I'm Roy Fox!"

"Hm. Doesn't ring a bell." replies Mary.

"Oh, come on! The creator of Table Town's Cringiest Wannabes? Producer of Table Town Has Talent? Both of which get millions of viewers daily?" Roy asks, in disbelief.

"Sorry." Mary states.

"Hi Candle's Dad." Barry says awkwardly.

"Never mind. Anyway, I am the owner of Foxhole Productions and its subsidiary, Table Town Tunes. The company that provides you with the greatest singers to have ever breathed." states Roy.

"Cut to the chase." Harry says bluntly.

"I want to sign you five for a record deal. You've all got unique musical styles, and people eat that up!" Roy explains.

"Oh my gosh! This could be my big chance to reach the big four digit number on Table Toob!" Terri says in excitement.

"Little lady, I'm willing to bet it'll be even higher under my management." Roy replies confidently.

"I can't wait to hear myself on a record!" Barry exclaims.

"Hold on, not so fast. What about my children's education? I love playing music, but I'm not risking their young minds." Mary states firmly.

"Don't worry about it. We have on-set tutors." assures Roy. Mary looks unconvinced.

"Well, Harry? What do you think?" Roy asks.

"Oh, that's easy. No."

Terri is surprised. "No? But this could be our big chance!"

"I said this was only going to be a one time thing. I'm a DJ, remember? I can't just put my life's dream on the sidelines. I'm not a sellout." answers Harry.

"Yeah, so you're just gonna hog up all our musical talent by being the only one to follow it." Terri says cattily.

"Excuse me?"

"That's enough!" yells Mary.

Just then, Kristophe tugs on his mother's jeans.

"Oop! Someone needs to use the little boy's room! I'll be right back!" Mary leaves the stage temporarily with Kristophe.

"Well? Have you decided?" inquires Roy.

"I already said no." replied Harry, remaining firm.

"Listen, kid. This isn't chump change; we're talking millions here! I can make all of you rich and famous, set for life! You'd have to be dumb not to take this deal!"

"I had a lot of fun performing with you, bro." Barry says.

"Really?" Harry asks.

"Of course! We don't get to spend as much time together as we used to, and it was nice to be on stage jamming out!"

Harry takes what Barry says into consideration, while looking at Terri, who agrees with Barry by nodding. Roy suddenly inserts himself between Barry and Terri, hugging them by putting his arms around them. Both are uncomfortable.

"Think about your wittle bwother! And your sister who wants to be a star! Don't you think denying them their fame is terrible? Take it from me, there's nothing worse than seeing wasted talent!" says Roy.

Harry then thinks about how happy his family was while performing on stage, seeing their smiles in flashbacks from earlier in the episode.

He sighs deeply. "Alright. I'll sign it." Harry proceeds to sign his name on the record label contract.

"Good choice! You won't regret it! Meet me tomorrow at Table Town Tunes, 4:00 PM sharp." instructs Roy.

Roy leaves Cafe Penguino, with Mary and Kristophe returning not long after.

"Oh, good, did that man leave?"

"Yeah." Harry says in a deadpan voice.

"But guess what Mom? We're gonna be a band!" Terri says happily.

"We're what?" Mary asks, both out of curiousity and anger.

"Look, I signed it because I didn't want to let the family down." Harry explained. "You guys just seemed so happy, I couldn't say no."

"But your schoolwork! Harry, that was already an issue not too long ago!" Mary shouts.

"I know, I know! I promise I'll figure something out." Harry states.

Mary takes a deep breath, trying to calm down. "Well, I suppose it could be worse. At least I can oversee everything as a member of the band."

"I should have asked if it covers dental." says Barry.

"We'll see about that, shnookie." Mary replies, in skepticism.

The following day, the Buns family are inside their car heading towards Table Town Tunes. Kiff is sitting beside Barry, wearing her Holden Hamster, M.D. cosplay. It consists of a brown shirt and pants, with black shoes. Kiff is also wearing black glasses and a brown mustache.

"You look just like Holden Hamster!" Barry says excitedly.

"I know, right? They even got the mustache texture just right!" Kiff says, ruffling her artificial mustache.

"What's your suit made out of? Suede or polyester?" asks Barry.

"Neither! It's tweed! I feel so professional, and intellectual, and... more smart." states Kiff.

"That show is so lame." says an aloof Harry.

"Harry! You know Mama's got to have her fill of Holden!" Mary shouts while driving.

"Mm, I don't know. I'm more of a Mona Mongoose girl myself." Terri adds.

"Right? That time she saved the pumpkin that was rotting from inside made her my hero!" Barry replies.

Mary then stops driving upon arriving at Table Town Tunes.

"We're here!" announces Mary.

The Bunses and Kiff head inside Table Town Tunes. They walk in to find a stage where Roy is lounging in the front row of the auditorium.

As Kiff walks up near Roy, he notices her.

"Hey, don't I know you from somewhere?" Roy asks.

Kiff is tongue tied. "I, well, uh..."

"Aw, come on, Mark! I was just teasin'! How have ya been?"

Kiff is heard thinking "Mark?," but quickly catches on that Roy recognizes her as someone else. Kiff responds in the gruffest voice she can muster, "Uh, just doing what I've always done, Roy: catch rising stars."

"Classic Mark! Man after my own heart." Roy states. He continues with "You know, Mark, I could use your help with this new band called... what are you guys called?"

"Buns Family Band!" Barry yells out.

Roy dismisses that suggestion with, "Nah, too basic."

"Cottontails?" Terri suggests.

"Nope."

"The Hares!" Kiff exclaims.

"Try again." Roy states.

Harry himself seems too disinterested to provide a suggestion, looking the other way. Roy takes notice of this and ponders.

"I know! How about Harry and the Family Buns?"

"What?" Harry asks, caught off guard.

"It's catchy, it's hip, and the kids will love it." Roy declares.

"I'm not really comfortable being front and center. I just like making music." Harry insists.

"Come on, Haremeister! You've got the talent, and that's all you need!" says Roy.

"Don't ever call me that." Harry replies with disdain.

Moving on, Roy states "We're going to decide which one of you will be singing lead. Entertain and impress me."

Barry is the first to audition. He proceeds to play his violin, but things go awry when Barry's violin bridge accidentally breaks off.

"My bridge is open!" Harry shouts in embarrassment.

Roy shakes his head and gives Barry a thumbs down. A disheartened Barry's ears flop down as he walks off the stage, dragging his violin.

"Don't listen to him! You did great, honey!" Mary insists.

Next, Mary appears on stage. However, she refuses to perform. "I am not competing against my own children."

"We found the diva." Roy replies.

Kristophe is then seen performing on his xylophone. Roy is not impressed.

"Next!" Roy shouts.

Mary gives Roy the stink eye for yelling at her youngest son.

Terri goes on stage with her keyboard.

"Mr. Fox, I've written a completely original song for you to hear. It's called 'You're Like a Dream.'"

"That's good, now let's sing it." Roy replies.

Terri clears her throat before she starts playing her keyboard, and singing afterwards.

Everybody says
You're not what you seem
But you make me scream
In happiness
You're like a dream

You're everything I ever hoped for
Making my heart soar
I can't wait to see what's in store
You make me want to learn more
About you
You're like a dream

You've always been so kind
Helping me when I'm in a bind

I feel peace of mind
When I'm with you
You're like a dream

Everything about you is so fine
You make me feel

Like I'm on cloud nine
I'm so glad you're mine
You're like a dream

Barry and Mary both clap in appreciation to Terri's song, while Roy nods. Harry disagrees.

"That... is the corniest, most tacky song I've ever heard!" Harry laughs.

Terri frowns at her brother ridiculing her. "You think you can do better? Go up on that stage and prove it!"

"Terri's got something there, Hare. I want to see if you've got the talent to be lead." Roy states.

"But I already told you, I don't want to be lead!" Harry says.

"Give it a try. You never know. I've found stars in the most unlikely places."

Harry reluctantly goes up on stage, microphone in hand.

"So, I have one song that's based off a poem. It's nothing special, but it does show you a snippet of my soul."

I've got a lot of pain
In my soul
And it's taking a toll

Childhood memories sustain me
How I used to be filled with glee
And knew what it was like to be free

But that all changed with puberty
Such a cruelty
Now I have

Teen angst! Teen angst! Teen angst! Teen angst!

When I was just a boy
I had Farley, my beloved toy
To keep me company

But I had to give him up
For my little bro
And I miss Farley so

Making it day by day
But it's hard to say
If I'll ever get over this

Teen angst! Teen angst! Teen angst! Teen angst!

As the song plays, Roy is genuinely interested and seems to approve of it. Kristophe holds Farley tightly upon hearing Harry mention him in the song.

Terri shakes her head. "Isn't that song a little... too gloomy?"

"I think it's fine, pookie. Harry's just speaking from his heart. That sounds like something I would have written during my grunge phase." states Mary.

"Thanks, Mom." says a smiling Harry.

"Mama's boy." Terri says under her breath.

"What did you think, Mr. Fox? Sucked, right?" Harry asked.

Roy says "You" before pausing for dramatic effect. He then continues with "Are going to be a star!"

"Huh?" asks a confused Harry.

Terri is just as surprised as her brother. "What?"

"Harry, you hit all the teen idol requirements! You've got the look, the attitude, the rebellion! The bad boy whose real and raw about the teen experience! I'm installing you as lead singer! Roy, you've nailed another one!" Roy states, congratulating himself.

Roy continues with, "As for you, Mark? You're gonna be the band's manager!"

Kiff and Barry proceed to high five each other.

"Well, I'll see you all tomorrow to record our first studio album." Roy laughs in satisfaction as the Buns family leave Table Town Tunes and head for their car, with Mary driving away.

"Congratulations, Harry!" says his proud mother.

"This is so awesome! Not only do I get to be in a band, but my bro is the lead!" adds a euphoric Barry.

Terri looks at Harry, who is sitting next to her. "I'm so happy for you." Terri states through gritted teeth.

"You've always been so passionate about music, so I can't wait to see what you come up with next!" Kiff says excitedly.

Harry, meanwhile, is shocked, not sure how to process he is now the lead singer of Harry and the Family Buns, let alone responding to his family.

He simply manages to say "Teen idol?" while in the car. Terri looks at her brother with envy, though no one else seems to notice.
