The Princess of Avalon and the Prince of Egypt
Written by: Marik's Girl
Chapter One
Marriage?
Princess Sakura of the Avalon Kingdom sighed as she stared up at the night sky from her balcony. She stood at 5'4" wearing a beautiful white dress that was strapless with gold trim and laced with gold jewelry, around her neck that rests between her breasts is a gold circle necklace with an emerald gem in it. A soft breeze blew past her, and ruffled her short light brown hair… her hair, was cut short to the nap of her neck while on the sides she had long strands of hair framing her face, neatly cut bangs in the front; and beautiful emerald-green eyes. Her skin is a light fair tone. And even though it is a bit chilly outside, she is not bothered by the cold. The stars are beautiful…
But - her thoughts were elsewhere.
Like, how could her father engage her with someone that she didn't know! Sure, she respected her father, but now she was being forced to marry some prince of an unknown land that she knew nothing about! 'Why must I marry this prince of Egypt?' she questioned. 'I don't even know him…' she sighed again but looked back up at the stars. 'The stars look so beautiful tonight…' she thought to herself as she gazed at the stars. She then made a face. 'He probably isn't even good looking…'

{Lower Egypt, In the Palace}
"What!?"
Pharaoh Aknamkanon of Lower Egypt sighed at his son's outburst, who was the next in line to the throne - Aknamkanon rubbed his temples, he was getting a headache… "Atem, please calm down and lower your voice." Aknamkanon said in annoyance at his son's behavior. Atem bowed his head in respect to the Pharaoh his father and muttered a "Sorry." as he did so. He then looked up at his father, his crimson-colored eyes. "Even so father, I cannot get married…" Atem began to argue, but the Pharaoh interrupted him.
"You will get married to Princess Sakura of the Avalon Kingdom! It is for the greater good that you two marry! Not only will it be good for the two of you, but the union will unite our kingdoms together."
Atem frowned at his father, clearly not agreeing with the situation at hand. "I'm not getting married to some girl that I don't even know! Besides, I'm only fourteen, I'm far too young to get married!" Atem said as he glared daggers at his father. His father only glared back. "I do not want to hear it!" Aknamkanon roared. Atem winched, but he wasn't going to back down, he was about to say something else - why he couldn't get married to this Princess when a guard came rushing in. "My Pharaoh! A message! From King Aiden!" Aknamkanon nodded, he then turned to his son and raised his hand. "You are dismissed Atem, but we will settle this later!" Aknamkanon said with a wave. Atem could only nod and bow. He then left his father and guard alone as he headed toward his room…
{Atem's Room}
When Atem got to his room, he dismissed the guards and shut the door behind him, and flopped on his bed. He lay on his back, his bronze-tan arm covering his crimson-colored eyes. How could his father do this to him? He was only fourteen! He didn't know how old she was, but she couldn't have been much older than him. Ra! He didn't know what she even looked like! Let alone her age. She is a stranger to him and yet they wanted him to marry her. Some unknown princess? He groaned - he didn't want to get married because he had to… it was stupid he knew, but he wanted to marry for love - but he knew that was some sort of dream when it came to him. He was a prince… next in line to become the Pharaoh, and he could only marry a princess… and princess normally didn't care about such things as falling in love or caring for their people. They cared about jewelry and money…
He removed his arm from his eyes and face. Well, regardless - he was sure of three things.
1) He was too young to get married, he was only fourteen years old.
2) He didn't need a wife to become Pharaoh. (Well, he kind of does, since he can't become Pharaoh unless his father dies, or he marries.)
3) She probably is not even pretty.
He was sure of the 3rd reason… the Egyptian women in Lower Egypt (and Upper) are very beautiful, so why couldn't he marry one of them?

{Meanwhile}
Sakura sighed as she stared at the vast sea. I was indeed beautiful, just as her father had told her… but a worry of concern went across her face as a light wind blew her short light brown hair. Yes, she was worried about meeting her future husband… very worried in fact… that it gave her goosebumps on her skin. She didn't want to marry someone she didn't know, she wanted to marry someone out of love - that is why her father married her mother… he loved her, of course, but he was a bit older than she was at the time, but they both had fallen deeply in love with each other and eventually had two wonderful children. That is what her father always told her.
He also told her how beautiful her mother was and how Sakura continues to look like her mother every day. For you see Sakura's mother Queen Nadeshiko, died when Sakura was three… so, Sakura had been growing up without a mother's love. But she made do, her father and brother told her everything about her mother because Sakura doesn't remember her mother at all - but she wishes that she did. Sakura looks back at the sea, she wonders what kind of person is this prince? Does he care about his people? Or just his wealth? What is his personality like? She had so many questions in her head, but what she really wanted to know was what he thought of his arranged marriage… she let out another sigh as she continued to look at the vast sea as her father's ship continued its course toward Lower Egypt.

{Lower Egypt} (Well, that was fast, wasn't it!)
Princess Sakura, along with her father got off the ship and onto the dry sands of Egypt. "Sakura." Sakura glanced up at her father and gave him the best smile that she could, under the situation that she was in. "Why don't you go to the marketplace for a while, while I go to the 'Palace' and talk to the Pharaoh." Said King Aiden as he looked at his only daughter. She nodded her head and he smiled. "Okay." She replied and with that he left to go to the Palace to meet up with the Pharaoh, while his daughter went to the marketplace.

Around the same time, Prince Atem was also in the Marketplace… but dressed as a commoner; so, he had no guards watching over him and was against his father's wishes… in other words - he was sneaky and escaped from the Palace walls while no one was looking. He hated the life of being royalty, being a prince, and having the responsibility to his kingdom when he would rather just be a normal teenage boy, living a normal life, he loves his kingdom and his people, but he just for once wanted to be treated not like a prince of Egypt. As he walked, out of the corner of his crimson eye, he saw someone, but not just anyone, but a foreigner - a beautiful foreigner with fair-looking skin, light brown hair framing her face, while the back was cut short to the nap of her neck, her bangs cut neatly and out of her eyes. Her eyes - a beautiful emerald-green color, are wide with wonderment as she looks at the many things in the marketplace. (I would explain what she is wearing, but I can't describe the outfit, it's the same outfit that she wears in Tsubasa Chronicle)*
As she turned around, Atem hid, he didn't want her to find him staring at her… she blinked a couple of times and a question mark appeared above her head. She thought for sure she felt someone staring at her or something… she shrugged her shoulders and turned around and went on her way. When she was out of sight, Atem let out a sigh. She was dressed differently and her skin was pale compared to any Egyptian that he had seen, who was that beautiful girl? 'I better get back to the Palace, before someone notices that I'm gone.' He thought bitterly, but he couldn't help feeling the beating of his heart beating rapidly as he headed back to the 'Palace.'
