Enjoy reading. (I want to write something polite, but it is true I have nothing very interesting to say except to greet you) - Le Sac Bleu.

The weekend went by so fast that it felt like Thursday and Friday mornings were melted away with a single minute. A long minute, yes, but a minute all the same.

Friday lunch time, I pick up two apples and an energy bar from the self-service restaurant: I don't want more. I'm not hungry.

Strangely enough, this story takes away my appetite a bit. I couldn't stop thinking about Swan with a big belly. I even dreamed that an alien came out of her belly button to eat me. A horrible night. And when it was time to eat me, the alien asked for ketchup. Like I'm disgusting.

I blame my brain.

In addition, I told Ben and Mike that I was skipping so that they could take my lessons. First of all, I'm not very good in class, if I start to fall behind... And they both asked what I was going to do. I didn't know what to say. It was weird. Ben didn't push but Mike was a little heavy.

I ended up telling them I was going to see a girl. It plugged a corner of it for them and I had temporary peace.

They will come back on Monday. I have the weekend to come up with a good explanation.

I'm just out of high school. The sun is light on my skin: it's only February. It would be surprising if we had snow again. I'd love to go skiing on Sunday. Or snowshoeing.

Sunday seems so far away.

Focus Edward. First, go to Seattle and take care of Swan.

I can't wait for it to be over.

"Edward!"

I turn around on this voice that I know well and that has a slight tendency to please me a little too much:

"Hey!"

Tanya rushes over to me.

She and I had been flirting for two months. It could have come to fruition much earlier, but between my pool and its orchestra, it's hard to find time for a proper date.

And, quite frankly, if she offers me anything, I risk going into a tailspin: my head's a mess.

"Are you leaving?"

I giggle, waving my car keys under her nose:

"Your deductive mind will ruin you Tany darling."

She smiled, mutinous. She's blonde, well-groomed, with an ass to die for. Really sexy.

And unlike Bella Swan, she's not a ball-buster.

"Aren't you supposed to have class this afternoon?"

"Not really..."

I square my shoulders: apparently, it makes me look sexier. It was Mike who told me that, when he started going to the gym and worrying too much about his trapezius to look good. He wanted me to go with him.

Tanya moves closer to me. I notice that she has put on lipstick. I'm not very good at noticing these kinds of details, usually, but Alice did enough make up on me when I was little to recognize the Red Kiss colourway, she applied on me more than once.

Against all odds, it fits Tanya much better than me.

She licks her lips quickly.

"Are you skipping?"

If she doesn't flirt thoroughly, I'm willing to become a monk.

"You better believe."

She's pretty, Tanya. In the ranking we did with Ben and Mike last September, she came third out of the whole school.

"That bad boy side suits you well."

Now, clearly, if I didn't have Swan in my hands with her problem, which is apparently also my problem, I would have taken Tanya to skip with me. We'd have gone to the movies, seen a good action film, and in the theatre, I'd have managed to find out if her skin is as soft as it looks. And if Red Kiss tastes the same as when I was little...

I need to tell my brain to reconnect. Emergencies are handled in order.

"I really have to go Tanya."

"Go where? On a date?"

I can't see myself lying to her.

"Sort of."

She scowls. Either way, she would have known from Mike that I was going to see a girl.

"And I don't really want to go, but I don't have much choice. I'll tell you when I'm back."

Her smile reappears. She stands on her tiptoes and places a quick kiss on my cheek.

"Be wise."

She goes back to class, swaying her ass. Another girl would have been vulgar: not her.

I scramble and get into the battered Volvo that my father gave me for my license. We'll cross that bridge when we get there.

I have a pregnant Swan to recover.
