I was born for this.
Anakin looked down at the bits of destroyed battle droids surrounding him. The city and much of the planet around him had been ruined by the endless fighting. Many of the people were killed or they had managed to find places to hide, while others took up blasters and opened fire on the droids and clones alike, some of them showing they supported either the Republic or the Separatists.
He had seen this before. Many times since the war began. The Clone Wars and the Separatist crisis had truly done wonders in driving down wedges between the galactic population as they listened to the rhetoric on both sides. Anakin was a simple man, loyal to people rather than ideals. But he was not sure which one he supported even if the Separatists stood for things he despised.
A few such civilians had gotten into the way. Anakin had cut them down, not showing them any mercy or compassion. Anakin knew many Jedi would be horrified by such actions, but he didn't care. He attacked them because they had attacked him. To him it was merely self-defence.
Anakin had just destroyed a number of battle droids, effortlessly reflecting their blaster bolts back at them, or using the Force to crush them to little bits like he had with the three Destroyer droids - honestly, he never understood why Jedi just allowed themselves to stand there and be shot at by the bloody fucking things when they could use their power to crush them into a large chunk of scrap metal - when he groaned to himself as he both sensed danger and spotted it.
More battle droids were heading his way. Pushing aside his irritation and his fatigue - the Clone Wars were doing wonders for his stamina and his skill, both in lightsaber combat and with the Force despite losing one of his organic limbs (he had to fight down the anger at the thought of what Count Dooku had done to him on Geonosis, although he didn't quench it like the Jedi would demand he would; he had learnt to use his anger and aggression and take it out on the battle droids, and as long as he only focused on them he would be safe even if he was long past caring about Jedi philosophy after realising he was not really a Jedi despite fighting like one and his knowledge of the Jedi arts), and he had begun studying some of the more dangerous of the lightsaber forms, including Juyo and Ja'Kai to the point he had made two lightsabers with one being a replacement for the one that was damaged on Geonosis - luckily he had gotten the kyber crystal powering his old lightsaber before he was captured.
Anakin took a deep breath as he readied himself for the fight, already feeling the anticipation burning inside of him. Out of the corner of his eye, he spotted the three Jedi sent with him. Master Unduli was calm as always, but only another Force sensitive could feel and tell she was tired, fed up and weary of the fighting and would prefer a better way than this, and there was his own Master, Obi-Wan Kenobi who had much the same feelings towards this endless battle Unduli had, but he masked it with his boyish charm and wry/dry sense of humour.
Last but no means least, was Master Windu. Like Anakin, he was prepared for the fight ahead, but even though he was masking it with his cold, emotionless demeanour, Anakin could tell the Korun Jedi Master was as tired and weary of this as the others, but like Anakin he had settled more into his role as a Jedi general.
Anakin dismissed them even as he absently pushed the Jedi Padawan braid out of his face. While a part of him was still frustrated the Jedi Council just refused to knight him already and give him greater opportunities despite the battles he'd won for them, the part of him which had realised that he was not a Jedi and never had been at heart, simply could not find it within himself to care about whether or not he was a Knight.
After all of those years he had spent toiling in the Jedi Temple as he struggled to come to grips with a different life philosophy, trying to ignore the way the Jedi, including his own Master, kept telling him to forget his past and let the pain go or it would consume him which he had never been able to do, before he'd tried to leave only to be talked out of it, Anakin felt he had found his calling while bleeding hearts and arrogant fools like Ferus Ollin kept trying to maintain their Jedi composure in the face of the battles.
Anakin had found it hilarious that the arrogant members of the Jedi Order who'd demeaned him on so many occasions when he'd struggled, so full of their own self importance and stupidity were struggling as they never bothered to adapt to their new situation.
And all that time Anakin was one of the few Jedi who had found their calling. It wasn't sitting in on diplomatic meetings, it was by fighting. This was language he understood as he believed violence was usually the only way to make people understand. Only Clones like Rex, Fives, and Cody understood in war, you had to throw aside morality. It was a relief that the Clones even existed, otherwise the whole war would have been lost ages ago.
Actually, if there were more Senators who were like the Clones, then the Republic would have won before the war even started. Even his secret wife, Padme, was such a bleeding heart when it came to peace, she didn't seem to realise that the Separatists didn't care about the Republic. They wanted to tear it all down and replace it. It was hanging in rags, anyway.
He was shaken out of his thoughts when he saw the droid battle tanks coming towards them, advancing remorsely over the remains of the ruins and droids alike.
Anakin ignited his lightsabers when the droids came nearer, and he reflected some of their blasts back.
"Skywalker, stay with us," Windu ordered.
But even as the Jedi Master's order settled into his brain, Anakin focused his mind on the Force. When he had retrieved his mother's body from the Tusken camp, Anakin had begun looking to both sides of the Force as he realised on the way back to the moisture farm he'd used the Dark side and he'd still had his sanity, even as he tapped into his darker emotions. The experience was so potent he had not told anyone as he knew how they would react. He had meditated a little, and he had known that war was coming, sooner than anyone was prepared to believe, and he had gotten himself ready.
The event of looking into his future so clearly had inspired him to study a little in perceiving the future. Granted, it wasn't much as he was deployed really quickly, but it was enough. He found himself embracing them as he came to the conclusion that by accepting them he would be able to face down Sith and Dark Jedi alike, and he didn't care what anybody else said.
Before he had gone out into the battlefield, Anakin had begun experimenting with different Force abilities; like all Force users, he had the power to perceive the future, and he had become a reasonably good seer and shatter point user, maybe not as adept or experienced as Windu, but he was becoming good at it.
And he was becoming even better at forcing a shatterpoint. The droids were coming towards them, and as he joined the Jedi in fighting back, Anakin sensed several weaknesses. The battle tanks were coming closer as well, firing devastating bursts at them. Anakin, ignoring the Jedi, and letting the Force guide him, leapt into the air and rushed towards the droids, throwing himself into the battle, his lightsabers humming as he began destroying the droids, three at a time while he used the Force to crush them down or turn their weapons over on their fellows as he got closer to the droid tanks.
Using the Force to turn the hovering weapons platform around, Anakin let it blast away at its fellows and causing a lot of damage before the droid's shaky AI softwares realised what they were doing and stopped. But unfortunately for them, he hadn't. He lifted the tank up with the Force, throwing it at the tanks before he concentrated hard, and he lifted several of the others, and chucked them around.
"Skywalker, what are you doing? You were supposed to be with us," Windu said as he and the others got to him. Anakin turned, seeing the disappointed/shocked/amazed/proud look on Obi-Wan's face and the shock on Unduli's lovely green face. And the absolutely annoyed look on Windu's.
"I might have just delivered a crippling blow to the droids at this point, and it might prove to be a turning point in this battle," Anakin replied before he turned back, sneering at the Jedi's lack of balls. If they had the stones to really fight they might have won by now.
