Welcome back to A Song Of Spiders And Dragons. Last time, operating on a tip from Jefferson Davis before his award ceremony, Spyro, Cynder, and Spider-Man check out a huge Fisk construction site, only to discover the Demons are making a big time move on the Kingpin's territory. Apparently one of the goons has been in contact with Fisk, who is in prison mind you, and when our heroes demand to know who the Demons' leader is, since Fisk apparently knows them, he gives an ultimatum. Save his men, and Fisk might tell everything. So, will he? Read on to discover...
(Our story resumes with the trio of Spider-Man, Spyro, and Cynder slinging into action across the Fisk construction site.)
Spider-Man: I'll admit it. Saving bad guys from other bad guys is not how I bet any of us expected to spend our afternoon.
Spyro: Understatement of the century there, Pete.
Cynder: But if we're going to get the information we're after, we have to.
(With... only minimal hesitation... the trio slings across the building, taking out Demons on every floor as they go, and before long, all the Demons are beaten. But just as the last one falls, Spider-Man spots the helicopter from earlier, dropping off reinforcements, including some real brutish members of the group. But ultimately after a time, the last of the Demons fall just as before. And just as the last Demon is knocked unconscious, the heroes redial Kingpin on the confiscated phone)
Spyro: Alright Fisk, we've fulfilled our end of the bargain. Your men are safe. Now who is the leader of the Demons?
Kingpin: Maybe he's there, maybe he isn't. Check up on the roof.
(And just like that, Kingpin hangs up)
Spider-Man: Can't say I've missed these cryptic Fisk talks.
Cynder: I can say for certain that I haven't.
(With that, the trio slings up to the roof, and finds a familiar face, one of the lead Demons from a previous encounter)
Spider-Man: Well, didn't expect to see you again.
(The lead Demon reboards the helicopter, but just as it takes off, Spider-Man webs it down. In an attempt to escape, the lead Demon takes a rocket launcher from one of the other Demons aboard and fires it, knocking loose the giant piece of machinery the helicopter was webbed to without breaking the webs, turning it into a wrecking ball that destabilizes a crane. Just in time, Spider-Man recovers from the explosion)
Spider-Man: Oh come on!
(Rushing into action, Spider-Man webs up the crane, trying to stop it from falling, but is knocked off course by its hook before he regains his bearings and manages to web the crane up before it does too much damage to the nearby buildings. But then the helicopter with its makeshift wrecking ball re-enters the frame, and Spider-Man just barely gets hit before Spyro and Cynder grab him and fly him out of the way)
Spider-Man: Please tell me this isn't happening!
Spyro: It's happening alright, Pete.
(And as if to make the situation worse, Yuri decides to call in)
Yuri: Uh guys, I'm getting reports of a, and I can't believe I'm saying this, helicopter with a wrecking ball?
Cynder: Confrontation with the Demons went a little... awry.
Spider-Man: Don't worry, Yuri, we're on it.
Yuri: Not much comfort in that statement, you know!
(With that, Yuri hangs up)
Spider-Man: Please tell me we've got this.
Cynder: Not really sure how to call this one, Spidey.
(As the helicopter flies around the city, our terrific trio tails it. And soon enough, their chance comes, and they cling onto the makeshift wrecking ball, just as it crashes through a building under renovation. The trio runs from the tumbling piece of metal and eventually get caught up by it and crash into another building, through which they tail the helicopter)
Spider-Man: If we live to regret this, please tell me that's exactly what we'll do!
Spyro: You have my word on that at least!
(Just outside the building, the Demons' helicopter is hovering, and firing rockets trying to stop our terrific trio as they catch up to the Demons. But soon enough, the trio slings themselves into the helicopter, knocking out the rocket-man.)
Spider-Man: Hey, is this the flight to Jersey?
Cynder: Think we got the wrong gate.
(After slinging the rocket-man into the building they just escaped from, the lead Demon starts trying to stab them with his sword through the helicopter)
Spider-Man: We're going to have to ask you to pull over the helicopter sir!
Demon: You will never stop us!
Spider-Man: I need to take out the helicopter's engines. Think you two can provide a distraction?
Cynder: Gladly.
Spyro: So what is the master plan here? Just replace Fisk?
Demon: FISK IS ONLY THE BEGINNING!
(While Spyro and Cynder distract the Demon, Spider-Man pulls up a chunk of the fuselage and one by one takes out the engines, causing the pilot to lose control.)
Cynder: Spidey, hope you've got a plan!
Spider-Man: About 12% of one?
Spyro: We need more than that!
Spider-Man: Working on it!
(Running on instinct, Spider-Man starts firing massive web lines between two buildings, webbing them to the helicopter and using them to try and slow the descent)
Spider-Man: Guess this is the plan!
(Well, the plan isn't working right away, as the helicopter hits the ground and breaks off the tail before swinging back up)
Spider-Man: Come on, Pete. Think of something!
(Spyro and Cynder swoop in and grab the tumbling tail before it can hit any civilians, which Spider-Man webs to a building while he goes to work on the rest of the helicopter, leaping off of it and firing massive amounts of webs below it, entangling it between two buildings while he lands dramatically on it. Without wasting a moment, the trio regroups and enters the helicopter to interrogate the lead Demon)
Spyro: These masks are honestly well crafted. Where'd you get them.
(The lead Demon apparently makes a death threat and tries to stab Spyro with his sword before Cynder, thinking instinctively, knocks him out of the helicopter, but Spider-Man catches him in a web)
Cynder: Better let Yuri know the situation. (Dials on their combined phone line) Hey Yuri. Good news, the Demons are caught. Bad news.
Yuri: Do I even want to know?
Spider-Man: Let's just say you're going to need a ladder.
Spyro: (As Spider-Man hangs up) We'd better get moving, we're going to be late for our appointment at City Hall.
(With a nod of acknowledgement, the trio slings off. But watching them in the crowd is a new face, recording the whole thing on his phone)
Miles' Friend: Hey Miles, you coming?
Miles Morales: (Checks the time) Sorry guys, got to get to City Hall for my dad's thing.
Miles' Friend: No worries. Hey, tell your pops congrats from us.
Miles Morales: Will do.
(And as Miles Morales heads towards City Hall, our tale ends for today)
And that looks like a good spot to end for now. So, we still don't have much on the Demons, no surprise given how Fisk is. Though, we did get a nice action scene out of it. But I will say this, if memory serves correctly, next time is going to be a bit... rough. Again, no spoilers from people who've played the games. What do I mean exactly? Tune in next time to find out. Same time... same channel...
