Welcome back to A Song Of Spiders And Dragons. Last time, everybody mourned the loss of Jefferson Davis, but Miles Morales clearly took it the hardest. And to top off all the madness, nobody's even looking into Martin Li as the leader of the Demons. Thankfully, MJ was always there, and gave the group a lead to a recycling center. But just as they headed off, a description of what Martin Li can do came to light, and it freaked Cynder out, having been through something incredibly similar. So, what awaits ahead? Read on to discover...
(Our scene opens at the recycling center, where Spyro, Cynder and Spider-Man come flying in)
Spyro: Looks like MJ was right again.
Cynder: This place is crawling with Demons.
Spider-Man: Let's take them out then search around. There's got to be something here.
(No witty banter this time, this is deadly serious. Not wasting a second, the trio gets to work eliminating the Demons guarding the place, and before long, all of them are down while the group looks around)
Spyro: (Eyeing a door) Well this is a strange lock.
Spider-Man: (Seeing the lock himself) High security. You usually see those in banks, not recycling centers.
Cynder: We know the drill, find the power source and short it out.
(With no hesitation, the group gets to work, locating a trio of junction boxes that when zapped trigger the door to open. Then, not wanting to waste a second, they rush into the recycling center, ending up in the main office after some vent crawling)
Spider-Man: (Looking around) Oh man... this just got serious.
Spyro: As if it wasn't already?
Spider-Man: I mean, look at this map! They've got targets all over the city!
Cynder: (Eyeing the map) And they seem pretty familiar. Take a closer look.
Spyro: Cynder's right! Those're Osborn's campaign offices!
Spider-Man: And it looks like they originate from one address. But we still don't know for certain what they're up to. Let me see if I can figure out where they're starting.
Cynder: I think this might say something. (Reveals a crate marked "Fisk Construction", full of explosives) Explosives, taken from Fisk's construction sites across the city.
Spyro: If they're just planning on using dynamite... (Pulls out a strange red device) Then what the heck are these things?
Spider-Man: Proximity sensors, probably.
Cynder: Check this out! The guns from Fisk's armory!
Spider-Man: If this isn't hard evidence, then I don't know what is.
Spyro: Then here's the final nail in the coffin. (Holds up a schematic of a truck loaded with explosives) Truck bombs.
Cynder: We've been looking at this all wrong. This was never a gang war. The Demons were arming themselves to take out Osborn!
Spider-Man: This should give Yuri all she needs.
(With that, Spider-Man dials, not Yuri, but MJ)
MJ: Did you guys find Li?
Spider-Man: No. But what we did find, is way worse.
Cynder: You were right. This place is a front for the Demons. Bomb-making, gun running, the works.
MJ: Oh, shit.
Spyro: And they're planning to strike again. This time on Osborn's campaign offices.
MJ: What kind of beef does Martin Li have with Norman Osborn? Is he really that opposed to his politics?
Cynder: I don't know, but it feels like there's something more here.
Spider-Man: We did manage to get an address. It looks like the staging ground. Chances are if we hurry we can stop this before it happens.
MJ: Be careful out there you three.
(As MJ hangs up, Spider-Man dials out again, this time to Yuri)
Spider-Man: Yuri. It's us.
Yuri: Make it quick, my boss is currently reading me the riot act.
Spyro: Martin Li and the Demons are planning another attack on Norman Osborn's campaign offices.
Yuri: Are you guys sure? We've had thousands of false leads.
Cynder: Just trust us, Captain. I sent you the address of a recycling center. It's got all the hard evidence you'll need.
Yuri: Got it. I'll get those offices evacuated. But if this is bunk, then you three are helping me find a new career.
Spyro: There's a position open at the Embassy.
Yuri: Don't fill it yet.
(And with that, Yuri hangs up)
Cynder: So, where to?
Spider-Man: Where else? Consolidated Shipping.
(And with that, the trio sets off, ending our tale for today)
And that looks like a good place to end for now. So, it looks like Martin Li is far from done. But what sort of vendetta does he have against Norman Osborn? Again, those who have played the games, don't spoil it here. That's really far down the update timeline. But that doesn't matter now, there's another attack to stop, and Consolidated Shipping's the place to be. Will our heroes be able to stop it in time? Tune in next time to find out! Same time... same channel!
