I'm sorry but I just had this headcanon that Shen was actually raised by her grandparents than her actually parents! Read about it on Tumblr - https//badassturtles235147/722605641317990400/tang-shen-headcanon?source=share

Few days later,

Yuuta and Atsuko were sitting in the dojo with content smiles on their faces as they watched Yoshi and their officially adopted son Saki run around the dojo. Saki was not exactly playful as Yoshi, but he somehow always convinces him to join. It worried Yuuta and Atsuko slightly, how quiet Saki is but they tried not to, knowing that it could be because he was in a new environment.

An urgent sounding knock went through the door, alarming the parents and children. Saki hid behind Yoshi in slight fear while Yoshi looked at the door curiously and walked up to open it but Yuuta quickly grabbed him before he could and handed him to Astuko. "Take the children into the other room!" He quietly ordered and Atsuko nodded. Yuuta watched as she scooped up Saki and went into the other room then slowly, sliding open the door. Yuuta was completely taken by surprise when he saw it was two old people. A short thick man with a long thick gray beard, mustache and long gray hair, gold eyes and tan skin stood at his doorway. He wore a red kimono. The woman next to him had long gray hair she wore in a low braided ponytail, brown eyes, light skin, and she wore a purple kimono. She also had a little baby girl clenched in his arms. She had dark brown hair, light skin, and gold eyes. She wore a pink kimono. The man looked at him, his eyes looked haunted.

"Hamato Yuuta, I assume?"

Yuuta raised a brow. "Yes. Who are you?" The man cleared his throat. "I am Fu Sheng I and this is my wife, Tang Amaya...we are from the Lotus Clan. We come seeking help." Hearing this, Yuuta quickly pulled them in and closed the door behind them.

...

While the children were playing in the background, the couple were kneeling before Yuuta and Atsuko with a cup of warm tea in their hands. Fu took a long sip then sighed. "I do not know where to begin..."

"Just start with whatever you are comfortable with." Atsuko said gently and Fu took a deep breath. "It was months ago...Oroku Maji came to China to ask for help in your war, but my brother refused, saying that shinobi do not participate in war unless needed. Outraged, Maji attacked the clan and everyone in it, no one survived, not even the master himself."

Yuuta looked surprised at this. "Oroku Maji is alive?" He was sure that the young brother of Keiji died in the war along with his brother, but he was wrong. "How did you escape?" He then asked.

"Maji believed us to be dead when he left but we were not. Amaya, Shen, and I are all that is left of the clan. Our daughter, my brother, my nephew, and even my son-in-law, are all dead."

Atsuko put a comforting hand on his shoulder as he began to shake. "I am so sorry. I can not even imagine what that must have been like for you. Have you come here to seek sanctuary?" Fu shook his head. "No. We have come seeking protection. See, my son-in-law, Lee, ran a little restraint in Fukuoka. We plan to go there and take over. It is the best place to keep hidden from Oroku Maji and his allies. We ask, if some of your soldiers could escort us?"

"Of course, but my wife is right, you are very welcome to stay here. We could protect you." Fu sighed. "No offense to your clan, Hamato Yuuta but Oroku Maji has wiped out my clan and he seeks to do the same to yours...I can not take any risks. Not with the little family, I have left."

Yuuta nodded in understanding. "If that is what you wish. I will assign a few my soldiers to escort you to Fukuoka and perhaps, watch over you, just for extra precaution." Fu and Amaya both bowed their heads. "Thank you, very much."

Meanwhile, 2 year old Tang Shen was watching curiously as Yoshi and Saki played with their toy cars. Yoshi crashed into Saki's car and smiled. "I win! You're dead Saki!" Saki frowned. "No!" Yoshi giggled then noticed Shen staring at the car. He smiled at her and offered his car. "You want to play?" Shen beamed and grabbed the car, swinging it all around while giggling.

Atsuko smiled at the scene. "It seems the children are getting along." Yuuta and the couple looked as well and despite himself, Fu chuckled. "I am glad at least one of us, is still smiling." Amaya took his hand. "We will be able to smile again, Husband, you will see."

Fu sighed. "I hope so..." He then looked over at his granddaughter. "For her sake."

Saki, not liking that his brother was not playing with him anymore, scowled at Shen and ripped the car out of her hands. "Mine!" Shen stared at him with wide eyes before she started crying, startling everyone in the room. Atsuko gasped and went over to Saki with a stern look on her face. "Hamato Saki!" She took the toy out of his hands. "No, no, that's not nice." She scolded before handing the toy back to Shen.

Saki cowered in fear and ran out of the room crying. Atsuko immediately felt guilty. "Saki-san, wait!" She chased after him and found him hiding in a closet, crying his little eyes out. Atsuko's heart cringed and she gathered the little boy in her arms. "I'm sorry, Saki, I didn't mean to scare you but it's not nice to take things."

Saki went stiff in her arms which made Atsuko more concerned. Saki noticed that she was staring at him and he shook in fear. "No owie." He begged and Atsuko looked at him confused. "What? Saki did you think I was going to hurt you?"

Saki nodded.

"Why would you think that?!"

Saki lifted up his arm to see a small scar on his elbow. "Sei-Sei."

'Who was Sei-Sei?' Atsuko wondered. It took a while for her to figure it out but once she did, she was horrified. "Do you mean Sensei?"

Saki nodded again.

Atsuko couldn't believe what she was hearing. Saki was only two years old! He was way too young to learn how to fight and in such a harsh environment. Atsuko growled in fury. 'Those damn Orokus!' Saki shook more, thinking that she was mad at him, which Atsuko immediately noticed. "No, no, Saki-san, I am not mad. There is no reason for you to fear me. I promise that I will never hurt you, no matter what you do."

Saki seemed to calm a little and just then, Yoshi came in. "Saki ok?" He asked and Atsuko smiled at him. "Yes, Yoyo, he is ok."

'At least I hope.' She thought to herself as Yoshi grabbed Saki's hand. "Come on, Saki, let's go play!" Saki looked at Atsuko as though asking for permission and Atsuko gave him a soft smile. "It's ok. You can go."

Saki looked at her with a hint of confusion but did not hesitate to follow Yoshi back in the living room. Atsuko went back to Yuuta who was still talking to Lee but paused for a minute to look at her with concern, noticing the worry look on her face. "Is everything ok with Saki?" He asked.

"I'll...I'll tell you later."

...

Later that night,

"I have already found a few soldiers who has agreed to escort the Tangs." Yuuta said as he changed into his night clothes. Atsuko was brushing her hair in the bathroom as she sighed sadly. "That poor girl, so young to be without her parents. Amaya mentioned something about them staying here in the summer, since the children have gotten along so well. She wants Shen to have many friends as possible, to make up for her loss."

"That sounds like a great idea. The boys seem to have taken to her and it might help Saki out of his shell." Yuuta agreed. " What are you going to do about Oroku Maji?" Atsuko asked as she came out of the bathroom.

"I sent soldiers to China to look for him, but I doubt they will find anything. If I am being honest, I do not believe there is anything we can do but wait for him to show his face." Atsuko frowned at that in slight worry. Maji may not have the key to rebuilding the Foot Clan, but he was still dangerous and if he was able to destroy a whole clan of shinobis then who knows who is fighting by his side.

"So, what happened with Saki?" Yuuta asked, trying to change the subject and Atsuko paused for a moment. "Saki thought I was going to hit him."

"Why would he think that?" Yuuta asked, even more concerned now then he was before. Atsuko sighed. "That's what I said and when I asked him, he showed me a scar on his elbow and said, "Sei-Sei"

Yuuta lifted a brow. "What is a Sei-Sei?"

"It's his way of saying, Sensei." Atsuko said and Yuuta's eyes widened. "I think the Orokus have been training Saki since he could walk and very harshly it seems like." Yuuta growled. "No wonder why he has not spoken a word to us. He must be having a hard time trusting us.."

Atsuko then went quiet, and Yuuta looked back at her, knowing that something was on her mind. "Atsuko? What is it?" Atsuko sighed. "I know you are not going to like this Yuuta but...maybe we should take Saki to see someone."

"No! No son of mine is going to a shrink! He will be fine."

"Yuuta-"

"No, Atsuko!" Yuuta dismissed before walking out of the room to wish the boys goodnight. Atsuko sighed in annoyance. She hates when her husband does that. She hopes he's right, though and that Saki really will be fine...
