Ep 3 Season 2
Whispers and Secrets
Disclaimer, still lol. First, I'm very sorry about the title being broken. It looks fine until I upload it. ): Asking for help to fix this, please.
This is another seemingly really long chapter, but like before, at least partially 2k (maybe 3k omg, this doc is 9k words, the record for me with fanfic chapters lol) words respond to someone. It's kinda educational if you're wondering about future stuff. I'm far too open in some spots. I can't keep my typing mouth shut. It seems lol. So, don't worry, it's still 6k words. Approximately Batwoman episode length still, I think/hope.
(Also, this was uploaded earlier than expected for reasons touched on below)
Synopsis: "Kate seeks for Alice and Tommy, which leads to uncovering Alice's latest scheme. Meanwhile, Commissioner Montoya presents Sophie an offer most unexpected and Mary butts heads with Julia Pennyworth.
(Hopefully, this one was more on point. Feel free to give your own "Vip Guest"/whatever future name you may have)
A mugging was happening with a couple of goons ganging up on a lone woman who happened to walk into an alleyway. They had guns and took everything she had until a figure crept up and knocked down one of the goons dragging them away. The second man looked around, confused.
"Batwoman! Show yourself! I'm going to unload on this here, lady!" He declared, reaching out to grab the woman who, in turn, bit his hand. "Damnit!"
The figure grabbed the confused man's gun and smacked him across the face. "You like hurting innocent people, don't you?" The masked person questioned, pointing the gun to his head.
"Please let me go!" The cowardly man cried.
"Try this stick again, and you'll pay, dearly. Got it? You're on my radar." They pushed the goon to the ground and kicked their legs, breaking them. "Now leave."
The man nodded and crawled away in a frenzy.
"You're safe now."
"W-who are you?" The woman asked, confused.
"A friend." The mysterious masked now clearly woman replied, running away.
She headed back to her hideout, an abandoned building of some kind. Just like her, it was a mystery.
She sat down and checked her phone, unhappy. "Great. Now I'm late for work. Have to love my non-consistent hours." She remarked, looking over at her plants, at least 4 of them. "Alright. Good talk." She joked and got up, leaving picking up a package. "Bet Batwoman would be able to manage all this, how does she do? Then again, she's likely got friends and money. " She thought allowed, heading towards her van outside.
Batwoman
Meanwhile, Kate Kane was in the Batcave with Luke.
"Any leads? For like, anything?" She asked, rolling her eyes.
"You know, finding information isn't as easy as it appears when we need it." He remarked, and then his jaw dropped.
Kate smirked. "And you found something, didn't you?"
"Okay, maybe you were right."
"I'm just a lucky charm, what can I say?" She replied, sarcastically looking at what he found. "So, Tommy's been spending money?"
He nodded. "From the looks of it, might be protection money. Must be getting desperate if he's using his last account that has money."
"Alice doesn't seem like the forgiving and forgetting type," Kate remarked, looking away.
Luke stretched the back of his head. "Guessing you had an encounter with Alice?" He asked, not knowing about the events that unfolded a couple of nights ago.
"Could say that. Declaring how she doesn't want to be saved. How she wants revenge on us, usually." Kate replied, shaking her head.
"Must be hard to hear always. I know you care a lot for her." Luke pointed out.
"I betrayed her, locked her in Arkham, having no idea what happened there. They're meant to help inmates, and yet we haven't heard about any reforms." She replied, frustrated, shaking her head.
Luke stood up. "You tried your best to help her."
"Not good enough. She's my sister. I can't abandon her again." Said Kate looking determined with her thoughts.
"What do you suggest?"
"Bring down Tommy and her gang. She'll have to reform if I can just have enough time to help her. I know Beth is still inside of her, I have hope and the courage to save her from being that monster." Kate declared reaffirming her beliefs to save Alice.
"Well, I've got the name and location of who Tommy's turned to." Luke pointed out, bringing their name and picture up on the screen. Whisper A'Daire.
"Unique name. You have a location?" Kate asked.
"One location. And you should know, she's apparently pretty dangerous. Running some gang named after herself, The Whispers. A bunch of operations that involve the movement of product or people primarily. At least that's the cop's thoughts."
"So, Tommy boy might be trying to leave Gotham. Or maybe Alice is." Kate remarked, getting suited up.
Commander Kane stood in his office, looking out his window, seeing commissioner Renee Montoya walk up towards him, walking through the door.
"I'm guessing you've come to chat." He remarked, pointing out the obvious.
"Your policy on Batwoman nearly costed lives. Not to mention her own." She replied, disappointed in his current actions.
"What do you expect from me? To let a criminal wearing a mask run amuck in our city? She's a threat!" He exclaimed.
Renee shook her head. "Explain to me how that's the case. What criminal actions has she done? Batwoman has protected Gotham, all we need to work with her. It's clear she'll not be going anywhere, anytime soon." She expressed.
He thought for a moment of how to respond. "Alice. She broke out because of her."
"Really? Do you have proof?" Renee questioned, crossing her arms.
"She attacked Arkham guards."
"Who might have been working for Alice. Believe me, this city has a corruption problem. Wasn't allowed to be commissioner due to sexiest pigs and corrupted men in power." She replied, looking determined and passionate.
"Fair point, commissioner. That is truly despicable. I can admit, Forbes wasn't a great man in the slightest and held a dislike for Batwoman for stupid reasons. Still mustn't turn our city over to a mystery vigilante. How can we accept that?" He returned.
Renee sighed. "Batwoman has done nothing but protect Gotham for almost 2 years now without any ask for thanks, or signs of turning bad. Why would she out of nowhere? I think you're trying to find excuses, Commander," She pointed out and rolled her eyes.
"Excuses for what?" He asked.
"Only you know that," She replied.
"You're right, cause I see her for what she really is. A criminal. Her gender and sexual preferences don't matter to me. I judge her character, and I only see a poor one." Jacob responded, shaking his head in disapproval.
"Alright. My hopes would be you'll be able to see that Batwoman is truly a heroic figure, and you're making a mistake here. Let's remember to not allow our divide over her to not cause us difficulties." She commented, standing up and preparing to leave.
He leaned back in his chair without response.
Batwoman arrived at the location Luke gave her, finding a torn down apartment building in a bad part of town.
"It smells here. Like death. Or men's body spray. Both smell roughly the same." She pointed out to Luke.
He gulped. "That doesn't sound pleasant. Watch your back."
"I always do." Kate reminded him.
She walked around the place, finding trash everywhere and had a feeling someone was around watching or waiting. In no time, she found a crate that was busted open, finding several guns left over. "Not promising." She thought aloud and heard guns getting pulled on herself. Turning around, at least three people were holding assault rifles aiming at her.
"Give it up, Bat!" One of them shouted.
"Give what up?" She asked, confused.
They turned at each other. Another spoke, "Though that's what we're meant to say, whatever! Kill her!" They shouted, and all three began firing at Kate then quickly noticed their bullets didn't do anything.
"Try again?" She joked and quickly dispatched them, tieing them up. "Who are you three working for?" Batwoman asked, glaring at them.
"Please don't hurt us, we'll talk!" One pleated.
"We work for Whisper!" A second exclaimed.
"Well, actually, we're trying to get her attention and get in her good books. The only way to survive!" The third explained.
"What are you talking about?" Batwoman asked, leaning in closer.
The third person gulped. "That Whisper lady is trying to take control of territory, it's open season again. Trying to expand her business, we were going to offer this gun shipment. Hope we could join her crew. We put the word out and hopped for the best."
Batwoman got in the third's face. "You better not be lying. Not a fan of lying types of people." She remarked.
All three nodded their heads erratically.
Batwoman walked away from them and spoke to Luke.
"Seems like this Whisper person might be using that money from Tommy to make a splash in Gotham. Might have to take her down. She might know their whereabouts, so this does work." Said Kate to Luke.
"I'll start digging into her," Luke replied, getting down to work.
"And I'll wait here, might show up, never know," Kate remarked, preparing to find herself a good spot to wait around.
At Mary's clinic, she was working away when Julia Pennyworth showed up for a visit.
"Hey there, Kate's ex, who is dating Kate's ex!" Mary said, sarcastically upon seeing her.
"Haha. Very funny." Julia replied, smiling and rolling her eyes. "I actually came to talk about that, do you have a minute?" She asked.
Mary looked around. "Uh, yeah. I think so. Silent day, maybe I shouldn't say that."
"Right. Listen, I just wanted to apologize if you find it weird I'm with Sophie now." Julia began saying.
She shook her head. "You don't have to give me an explanation. You should be giving one to Kate. I know you've been avoiding her lately. I'm not blind, and neither is she."
"Yeah, well. You know. It's pretty awkward now, with everything. My being with Sophie and all that. Feel badly for doing that to Kate." She replied.
"Really now? Then why are you even with Sophie? Bit of a contradiction, wouldn't you say?" Mary pointed out, nudging Julia.
"Fair enough. I also figured I should let you know that your dad wants to station me here, here being you. For the timing being after what happened. Keep you safe." She revealed.
"Oh, what I helpful offer! Can I decline?" Mary asked sarcastically, knowing the answer.
"Nope. We're stuck here together, Luv." Julia replied as Mary sighed.
The news was discussing the events with Batwoman, in particular, Dana Dewitt, as usual.
"It's been a couple nights since Bruce Wayne was exposed as Batman who faced off against the Batwoman. He also killed and injured a number of Crows and police. For people following the Dark Knight's time, this came as a shock. Additionally, Commander Kane has yet to comment about Wayne's identity reveal and thoughts on Batwoman's latest heroic actions. He has still left the shoot to kill order open for the city's hero despite the public outcry. It's also unclear if his return has any connection to the Arkham breakout, leaving dangerous criminals back on the streets of Gotham put away years ago." She expressed, informing the public.
Jacob Kane, who was watching this, shut off the screen, frustrated by this turn of events and how the public didn't seem to agree with him.
Sophie Moore knocked on his office door. "Sir?" She asked, peeking inside.
"What's up?" He asked, slamming his laptop shut.
"Just got a lead about the whereabouts of that guy wearing the batsuit. Someone spotted him running around." She explained.
He sighed and shook his head. "How do they know for sure? Could be another one of those damn copy cats popping up. Got two calls about a couple of them in different parts of Gotham. Hope we can charge them for wasting valuable time and resources, but you know how the public is!" He ranted.
"I can tell you're upset, and I know you don't want to hear this, but they've got a point."
He grunted. "I don't wanna hear about this. And spread the word we've only going after Batwoman or credible sightings of the bats! We're not wasting any more resources until they're found for real!" He exclaimed.
Sophie nodded reluctantly and left the office while Jacob sighed heavily.
Once she left, she noticed a text message.
Batwoman sat inside of the abandoned building, still waiting for Whisper or anyone to show up. At last, a few criminals wearing masks and black showed up.
"What the heck is this?" One of them asked upon seeing the tied-up criminals.
"It would appear a trap. Move out, now!" A female voice exclaimed who was standing in front of the group of thugs.
All the people that entered quickly tried to escape. Batwoman leaped down and grabbed onto one of them, pulling them towards herself, knocking their weapon away.
A couple of the goons turned back, but the woman grabbed them, pulling them away.
"Guess you're not that appreciated," Kate remarked, grabbing into the one she caught.
"Whisper will come back! You'll see." They replied.
"Was that her? Whisper?" Kate asked, shoving them against a wall.
They didn't respond.
Kate gleaned at them, getting up in their face. "Do I look chill about no getting an answer?" She asked, angered and sarcastically.
They shook their head. "Alright, alright! You win. Yeah, that woman in charge was Whisper. She's powerful, and you shouldn't cross her if you know what's good for ya!"
"Tell me where she's going," Kate responded.
"I don't know!" They cried.
Kate moved in closer. "Boo."
The thug jumped and spilled. "Alright! I'll tell you what you want to know! I'll give you the location, just please let me go! I'll never go back to Whisper, I-I'll leave Gotham! She's scaring me too much as of late."
"How so? Start making sense," Said Kate rolling her eyes.
"She's just gotten more intense, determined, and yeah, something changed. Couldn't tell you what, but something to be sure." The thug explained.
"Luke, I'm sending you a location. I need to know what I'm about to walk into," Kate said, hopping back into her bike.
"I heard you over coms, got a location already. Guess I'm egure to bring down the jark wearing Bruce's face." Luke remarked.
"Fair. What kind of place am I heading to?" Kate asked, starting up her bike.
"Another creepy abandoned place, this time appears to be ruined from an explosion. The city never thought to rebuild it, too poor of an area to care, I'd guess," Suggested Luke.
"Typical Gotham," Kate remarked.
"Alright, I sent you the location and oh. Looks like we've got another caller."
"Who?" Kate asked.
Mary's voice came into her ears. "Oh, Kate! Thank goodness!" She exclaimed.
"What's the matter, Mary?" She asked.
Mary made an unusual sound. "It's Julia Pennyworth!" She exclaimed, trying to keep herself whispering level of speaking.
"What about Julia? Is she causing you trouble?" Kate asked, bewildered.
"Dad sent her of all people to watch me, a faceless and nameless nobody would've been better than her!" Mary expressed.
"Hey, be nice, Julia." Said Luke jumping into the conversation.
Mary made that sound again. "I'm not being mean, just expressing my disaffection for her being around and potentially breaking Kate's heart further."
"My heart is just fine, Mary," Kate replied.
"Oh darn, forgot you were on here. Forget I said that." Mary said, feeling embarrassed.
"Just for the record, Mary, Julia didn't break my heart," Kate replied.
Mary started making static noises. "Sorr-sorry y-your br-breaking up!" She exclaimed.
"That isn't how jamming or losing connection really works, Mary." Luke pointed out.
She hung up anyway, having enough embarrassment for now.
Kate shook her head, smirking and continuing her drive towards the location given.
Sophie Moore went outside of The GCPD building, meeting with the commissioner who texted her for an unclear reason.
"Commissioner Ms. Montoya?" She asked upon seeing her curious as to why she was requested in the first place.
"Renee is fine, that's a mouth full. Unless we're around officials." She replied.
Sophie nodded. "Why did you text me? And how did you get my number?" She asked.
"Cause I felt we needed to speak in private about the Crows. And that, yeah, I've got connections. I'm kidding, we have the same database, it was quite easy."
"Okay, I still don't understand why you'd want to speak with me," Sophie questioned, still not understanding how she fit into things.
"Simple. Commander Kane hates Batwoman, and that might be an issue if he doesn't come to his senses soon enough." She explained.
Sophie realized, at last. "You're suggesting you want to replace him? With who? Me?" She was shocked by this news.
"I'd rather not try to move forward with pushing him out. More Mayor Adkins, wanting to appease the public. He seems like a good man making a bad choice by not trusting Batwoman. I understand his reasons, but he can't move on with trying to kill her." Renee expressed, waving her hand.
"What do you suggest I do?" Sophie asked, putting her hands through her hair.
"Convince him somehow, maybe something more, drastic." Renee began saying.
"What's the meant to mean?" Sophie asked, putting her hands on her hips.
Batwoman approached the area placing her bike out of sighing while also trying to keep out of the view of patrols.
"I'm here, and this place is well-armed. Our Whispers here seem prepared for trouble." Kate remarked, scouting around.
"That doesn't sound good for you. How many are we talking about here?" He asked.
"I'll be fine and trying to get an exact number. Wish I could see through the walls. You should install that into the suit. Along with keeping numbers," Kate suggested, excited about that idea.
"I-I can try. Not a miracle worker, you know!" He expressed.
"Could've fooled me." She replied, half-jokingly. "Alrighty, I'm going to head up to a vantage point, find Whisper and hopefully Alice too. Continue my lucky streak." She remarked, heading up creeping around.
She grappled up into a broken pillar and used her pointy ears to listen closely onto a conversion with the woman who appeared in charge, as she was the only one not wearing a mask. Looking closer, it was indeed the woman known as Whisper.
The woman called Whisper approached about 10 people in a line-up.
"So, you all want to join up with us?" Whisper asked, walking back and forth, glaring at the seemingly new recruits.
"Yes, Whisper." They all said it together.
"Great, special offer for you all. We've got ourselves a bat problem. She's tracking us, and I suspect it's because of our guest." She explained.
"Guest of honour!" A familiar voice declared, walking out into view. Alice.
"You're meant to stay hidden. Batwoman clearly wants you and that Bat guy too, I'd bet. You mentioned a scary woman too. Really dangerous, I wouldn't want to cross her. You should just get out of here," Whisper expressed, turning to her.
Alice rolled her eyes around and around. "Please, who's afraid of the big bad bat? I'm not for sure. I know how she thinks, if your people are good at your jobs, then I'll be safe anyways. I'm not going back to Arkham. And my minion gave you a substantial amount of cash, not to mention. And that dreadful woman, who won't be named, well, never mind her. I'll worry about her." Alice replied.
"You'll be safe not to worry in the slightest. Just give us a good review, please and staying out of view would help you stay protected. We're trying to expand our business. And your death or capture wouldn't help," Whisper reminded her.
"Not to worry, not in the slightest. I'll keep my word. My promise is to keep you afloat." Alice replied, waving her hand and looked around.
Another person approached Whisper and tapped her, which made them walk away from their company.
"I can't believe you're helping out a madwoman like Alice!" The other woman expressed, shaking her head in disapproval.
"This will pay off, I promise it will. We're going to keep her around for now, then soon we're never going to see this nutcase ever again. I've got a plan, one that will pay off, it's a secret. One she'll never see coming and will take her off the table. And besides. We need the money. I told you, if I ever got an opportunity like this, I'd jump at it. You knew that when you signed up, and I brought you in." Whisper held her hand. "Trust me. We're not killing or helping her do anything evil. Just survive until that secret part. I know you can accept that, at least." Whisper expressed looking through the woman's mask and rolled it up slightly, kissing her.
The woman nodded. "Alright, I trust you Whisper. Will this extra money mean less running? More time to spend together?" She asked, leaning in close.
"We'll see. As long as everything goes accordingly. Don't wanna make any promises, wouldn't want to break any." Whisper expressed rubbing her nose.
"Okay."
"Hey, I gotta go. Can't keep her waiting, be good." Whisper said, smirking.
She walked back to Alice. "Allow me to bring you inside."
Alice nodded and looked up directly, looking at Batwoman winking at her while walking away, having a massive grin on her face.
"Alice just spotted me," Kate stated, moving away from her position.
"What! So what are they all on your tail then?" Luke asked nervously.
Batwoman looked down below. "No. Alice looked at me and winked. She's got a plan, or she's toying with me. Whatever it is, I'm going to look around more first to make sure this isn't a trap. Oh, and got a positive id on Whisper," She expressed.
"Thanks for the update. I'll try to get more useful information for you. This Whisper really is like a whisper, can't find anything on her easily." Luke explained.
Kate continued looking around and followed Alice, who looked back momentarily, smirking at her once again.
Elsewhere, Mary approached Julia, sighing. "So, I think we've gotten off on the wrong foot." She began saying to Julia, who was sitting down in a chair on her phone.
"Why do you say that?" She replied.
"Haha. You know why I've kinda been jealous for Kate. I know she won't do it. So I figured as her sister, I should be doing the shaking my head disappointed at your dating her ex act. You know?" Mary explained, which made Julia give her a confused look.
"I've got no idea what you're even trying to express. Listen, we don't have to be friends. I'm just here to make sure nobody tries hurting you until a more permanent solution is made. I took the job cause I know your clinic is a secret." She explained.
"Oh, okay. I didn't even realize then, huh." Mary replied, surprised, putting her hands on her chain. "I appreciate you being here, and I feel worse about being such a jerk to you."
Julia shrugged. "It's alright, I'm sure I'd be if I were you. Which I'm not. Thankfully no offence. You gotta be the little sister caring for your big sister, I get it."
Mary nodded her head. "Yeah, and um, why wouldn't you want to be me?"
Julia looked nervous and made a face. "I urr, do you hear that? Phone call might be your dad or Sophie or Kate. I should go answer. Over there. Not here, gotta keep it private it right?" She expressed, rushing away.
"Your phone didn't even ring! You couldn't even have faked a sound!?" Mary exclaimed at her shaking her head and rolled her eyes, walking away. "This is going to be great, is having a guard that important." She thought aloud.
Batwoman continued following Whisper and Alice, now sneaking into a broken down small building they entered. She continued listening to them.
"Where is your minion? Are we just transferring you out of the city?" Whisper asked.
Alice laughed. "Oh, you misunderstand me. Neither of us are leaving."
"Okay, then what are you paying us for?" Whisper asked, bewildered.
"I thought we established protection, it seemed clear to me. Maybe that went in one ear and flew out the other?" She joked.
"But, we only transport people or run products around. We're not a protection service. We could try to save you if Batwoman showed up before we sent you aw-"
Alice cut her off and got in her face. "That extra money was to imply you changing up that old tired business. I've decided, catching that particular hero might be a good use of you all." She explained.
"How do you expect us to do that?" Whisper asked.
Alice sighed and pointed up. "By getting her right now. Hey Batwoman!" She exclaimed, revealing her.
"Someone must have talked! Bat alert! She's here!" Whisper exclaimed as Batwoman swooped down and kicked her backwards.
"Took you long enough," Alice remarked sarcastically.
"What's your plan now, Alice," Kate asked, grabbing onto her.
"Well, you just heard, catching you. And you sprung my trap!" She explained excitedly as a few goons showed up and tackled her. "Surprise!"
Whisper got up and rubbed her head. "What's going on here!?"
"Simple, I captured Batwoman, and now she's mine to keep and yours to guard," Alice replied, shrugging her shoulders.
"Why the hell didn't I know this?" Whisper asked, angered.
"Simply put, I didn't feel like sharing that. I was bored." Alice replied, smirking approaching the piled on Batwoman. "Tie her up good. She's a tricky one."
At the Batcave, Luke had frantically been asking for Kate to respond. He was genuinely concerned and made the call to Julia.
"Luke? Happy to hear from you, at least I'm not faking a call now."
"What? Never mind, Kate's in trouble. She needs you or just really any backup! Alice has her!" He explained.
"Slow down, tell me what happened. I'll get back up, going to stealthy alert the Crows. Just tell how this happened and where to go."
Mary rushed off, whispering. "Something happened to Kate!?" She exclaimed, worried.
"Yeah, guess you got your wish. I gotta go." Julia replied, sarcastically rushing off.
"Not how I imagined that happening."
Batwoman was being dragged off trying to struggle to break free, then the woman from earlier rushed over to Whisper.
"You captured Batwoman? What the heck are we doing?" She questioned.
"Alice wanted her caught, and that's what we did. We're getting an even bigger pay down for sure!" Whisper exclaimed, feeling good.
The woman scoffed. "All you care about is money now. I can't believe it."
"You rather we let Batwoman go?" Whisper suggested.
"Who knows what that crazy woman might do to her, how can we let Alice have her way doing god only knows?" The woman responded, disappointed.
"We do what we have to. You should remember that. We'll talk about this later." Whisper replied, shaking her head.
The woman frowned and nodded. However, she secretly passed something to Batwoman's hands quickly. Something that would help free her. She then walked off while Alice glared at her.
"I've got a bad feeling about that one. It might be best to send her with the fisheys!" She exclaimed, sinisterly having her eyes widen.
"You won't lay a hand on her," Whisper replied, giving her a severe look.
"Fine, aren't you boring." She replied, rolling her eyes.
Once getting Batwoman inside of a building, they put her down.
"May I have a moment with my- enemy. Batwoman," Alice asked.
They all shrugged and left them alone inside of a room.
"Isn't this great Kate, having you captured. All mine." Alice exclaimed cheerfully.
"Why are you doing this? What are your plans?" Kate asked in response.
"Simple my dearest sister, get you nice and locked up for now. During that time, Tommy or rather Batman, goes on a killing spree. Ruining the Wayne and Kane name, which will force you to be with me. Having nowhere else to turn. Then I'll set you free and maybe, just maybe, change your mind. If not, I'll try a more aggressive tactic. Not fun for you, but going to be a jolly time for me." She smirked, feeling confident.
"Could I offer an alternative suggestion?" Kate replied.
"Oh? What would that be, sister?" Alice asked, getting up close.
Kate smirked. "Breaking out and stopping your insane plans. How about that?"
"Not a fan, sorry, Kate. Could you give me a better suggestion?" Alice replied, shaking her head, sighing.
"I lied, wasn't a suggestion." Batwoman broke free to Alice's shock knocking her to the ground. "That's the only way this shall be going!" She declared.
The thugs outside heard this escape and charged inside.
Batwoman got off the restraints and quickly began to fight them all off one by one.
Outside, Whisper ran around in a panic. "Batwoman's escaped! We're out of here right now!" She declared, motioning everyone to run or drive away.
As she did, Crows began showing up as well. With Commander Kane, Sophie and Julia included with a bunch more.
"Bring me, prisoners! I want them, and Batwoman brought in!" He exclaimed.
All the Crows changed at the thugs hanging around who didn't leave fast enough.
"Dammit!" Whisper cried.
The woman who appeared close to Whisper rolled up in her van. "Hop in! Let's get the heck out of here!" She exclaimed, zooming off with her.
"The Crows, Batwoman. They've ruined our plans. Somehow she escaped and must have alerted the Crows. Least if Alice gets brought in, we've still got our cash tucked away at HQ. Good thing this was just a recruitment place. Still hurts like hell!" She expressed feeling upset.
"I'm so sorry this happened, Whisper. Maybe it's a sign to not go too big, too fast anyways. We should be smart, smarter than two-bit dumb thugs." The woman stated.
"Yeah, your right Ryan. You've got yourself a way with words." Whisper said, taking off the woman's mask and giving her another kiss.
Batwoman finished beating down the few thugs who attacked her, heading outside. Soon finding the Crows waiting outside. "Not again." She muttered, peaking out silently. Kate noticed a couple other ways out, so it wasn't that bad.
"Where's Batwoman? I was told she's her," Jacob said to no particular person.
"She's inside there!" One of the thugs said scared.
The Crows moved towards the broken-down building. While Sophie and Julia looked at each other with slight concern.
"Luke. Why are the Crows here?" She asked, snaking through a side door.
"Oh, thank god you're alright. I was worried," he replied, relieved.
"Didn't answer the question, do you know why?" She asked again, trying to keep her voice down.
"Yeah, sorry. That would be my fault, didn't know what happened, and I slightly panicked, calling Julia to bring the Crows for support." He explained, feeling a bit dumb.
"I've got this covered, but I appreciate the concern. Wish Julia didn't bring an army."
Luke sighed. "I'm going to guess that's your dad's doing." He pointed out.
Batwoman exited the place. "Yeah, not surprised. He hates me a lot." She said, feeling sad and processing to get spotted by a Crow, which only made matters worse.
"Batwoman spotted!" He shouted at the top of his lungs.
She rolled her eyes, running away, being shot at with no avail. They continued firing wildly, despite knowing their shots did nothing in the slightest other than cause mild annoyance.
"Run her down!" Jacob shouted, hopping back into his vehicle.
"Did he just say run you down?!" Luke asked, shocked.
"Yep, I think he just did," Batwoman replied, seeing them zooming at her.
She shook her head and leaped onto one of their vehicles, ruining this plan. They then started trying to spin around wildly, hoping to throw her off. Instead, she just grappled away, leaving them behind.
"No!" Jacob shouted, getting out and slamming his door.
Sophie and Julia looked at each other, sighing in relief as Batwoman was once again able to outsmart the commander and escape.
Batwoman watched the Crows running around, trying to spot her.
"Kate? Are you out of there? I don't hear shooting anymore, which I'm hoping is good." He said, trying to make a joke.
"Very funny. I'm safe and away. Just watching them run around like chickens with heads cut off." She replied, heading back to her bike.
"I guess next time, I'll not call the Crows. That seemed to cause my trouble." He realized feeling dumb for making such a mistake.
Kate sighed in agreement. "You should've tried calling GCPD. I seem like I'm in the commissioner's good books. Unlike my own dad. Wanting my sister and me dead." She replied, frowning grunting. "Hope Julia will at least be able to give us a lead on Whisper if they find anything." She pointed out.
"What about Alice? You don't seem to think they caught her."
"Alice is too clever to get captured that easy. At least I know Tommy is going to do something crazy on her behalf. Going to have to track him down." Kate stated, knowing her work was far from over.
"How about you return to the Batcave first?" Luke suggested.
Kate didn't respond but silently agreed, heading back, done for the night.
"We need to act faster! And where is Alice!" He exclaimed angered.
A few Crows that entered inside of the building returned. "No sign of her, sir, a lot of exits. She's likely long gone." One of them stated.
"Damn. At least we broke up this operation. Find clues of what this place was and get these prisoners talking!" He expressed.
Sophie and Julia, in the background, began talking.
"How was your day?" Julia asked.
"Crazy. Got a big choice to make." She replied, lowering her head.
"What kind of big choice? Not sure how to feel about that, sounds ominous," Said Julia looking over at her grabbing her hand.
"Might be. Don't think I should say what that's about here." She pointed out, knowing it wouldn't be good if Jacob heard. "Anyways, how about your day?"
"Ah, yes, guarding Mary's been a brilliant experience." She said sarcastically.
"I'm sure it isn't that bad, Mary is nice," Sophie replied.
"Oh, I'm sure she is, just not very much to gals who sleep with her sister's ex," Julia revealed, clicking her tongue.
"Right. Forgot about that. I guess she's not impressed, haven't really spoken to her one on one since we've been together." She remembered.
"Think she'll forgive me, Luv?" She asked.
"I'll tell her what's up if she doesn't," Sophie said, smiling.
"Good to hear," Julia replied saracatlly and smiled back.
Batwoman returned to the Batcave.
"I thought about something on the way here, one of those people sounded familiar like that woman who sa-helped me a couple nights ago. And I'm fairly sure she helped me get free, though I'm positive I would've broken free without her help anyways. The most curious part was, she seemed to be close with Whisper," Kate said to him, taking over her mask and putting it away.
"Why would someone like that be working for a person like Whisper and doing stuff like romantic stuff."
Kate rolled her eyes at him. "Grow up."
He continued. "Why would she be helping out a criminal? Like a gang type?"
"Could be undercover? Trying to bring down Whisper from the inside?" Kate suggested. "Whatever the case, I think tracking her down should be a priority." She declared.
Luke nodded. "After you deal with Batman. Fake Batman."
"Looking forward to creaking this mystery wide open. I've got many questions for whoever this woman is," Kate declared.
"Did you find any clues?" He asked, genuinely wondering.
Kate shook her head. "None besides, she can't be all she seems on the outside. And I doubt Whisper would be happy knowing about her saving me." Batwoman expressed.
Elsewhere in Gotham, the woman named Ryan returned back to her home/lair with Whisper.
"I appreciate the save today, don't know what I'd do without you." She kissed her on the cheek, which made them both smile.
"I'd love for you to come in, but I gotta rest. You know, have another one of your deliveries." Ryan replied, looking down.
"Yeah, I guess you're right. Best to get work done," Whisper said, nodding her head and exiting the van.
"How are you going to get back to base?" Ryan curiously asked, tilting her head.
Whisper laughed softly. "Just a three-block walk silly isn't that far away. Could use some excuse, never hurts, does it?" She replied, smirking and walked off.
Ryan sighed and entered her hideout. She revealed she took one of Batwoman's batarangs and walked inside, entering a hidden passageway. A lair with a computer, a display case for objects that Batwoman seemed to leave behind and a pile of pictures. They all contained Batwoman being hero or Whisper, some more romantic. Mainly images involving Whisper's operations, which she surely wouldn't be happy about Ryan having around in her secret lair for unknown reasons.
"Crap. This was risky today. What do you think, Betty? I'm thinking Whisper is going to want me dead if she found out the truth. Don't want to hurt her, but how can I stand by letting her become a monster, helping a manic-like Alice." Ryan said aloud, talking to her plant named Betty. "I need friends. No offence. I feel like Veronica would be hurt if you could understand me, which you can't." She remarked, laying down on a mattress and sighed.
Elsewhere, Alice returned to her own temporary lair, where Elliot was standing away stockpiling weapons.
"Do you really need such big weapons? How insecure are you?" She asked sarcastically, rolling her eyes at him.
"Funny, I need all this to complete your plans." He replied, shaking his head wildly.
"Then stop wasting time and get out there!" Alice exclaimed, getting up in his face.
"I need time to prepare!"
Alice turned away from him and rubbed her head. "Get it done and make sure to give some more money to our new friend, Whisper. She's more useful than you," She stated.
"Fine. And once I'm done, Batwoman isn't going to know what hit her," He said sinisterly.
"Hurry up, I've got a bad feeling about an old friend returning to town for revenge. And believe me, she won't be taking you, prisoner. Or my sister," Alice explained, crossing her arms, looking genuinely concerned.
Batwoman
I hope everything said below is well said. I've looked it over a few times. I just worried about anything not being said in a competent way, it's 3k words and I'm not always confident in what I say. Likely just my extreme anxiety, but I wanted to be clear and honest.
(Update, wasn't originally planning on uploading this week, but the news about Supergirl made me feel like hopefully adding something remotely positive. (Next one unless something else bad happens will be in two weeks) I was going to sit on it, giving myself a break, but whatever. I provide a better response below to that news, and you're resent review/comment below, trying to keep it in order)
-I hope you like "VIP Guest" I wasn't sure what else to call you. If you prefer something else, I'd call you that gladly. (It's sweet how you changed your name thingy just for the sake of my story)
Your frustration towards the situation - It does feel very hurtful and like they're trying to erase Kate Kane, which is ironic sadly. I think Sophie had a monologue about how Kate never be erased during a flashback which is now sadly ironic. It's very unfortunate how they didn't learn anything from these past events/backlashes. It should've been important to remember. That does sound like an excellent choice to pick her instead, I'm very sorry they didn't listen to you and other fans. I can understand that. Again I hope for the fans sake they can give some kind of nice closure or surprise bring her back.
Formatting - I'm unsure. Unless I'm incorrect, I would have to delete the story and repost both of them. I don't think that would cause any issues, I hope. Not sure if there might be an easier way.
Thank you for saying that. I hope that those chapters are satisfactory with the structure.
Clarification on Ryan Wilder – Thank you very much for the reminder. I'm trying to keep true to the casting description and your details. I'll admit, I keep all yours, try to keep all in casting and added a little myself for her story/character for this season. The "myself" parts must have been clear here. Unfortunately, I have to hope that they're positive additions to make her more complicated. I can't ask beforehand and felt like now would be an excellent spot to drop all I do regarding her character/storyline. I'm keeping it primarily Kate centric just to not cause any worry.
I felt like giving Ryan a little bit gray nature, for now, though it was a good idea, along with giving her a love interest who might not be very good. I hope the mystery kind of angle wasn't a bad idea, kinda a gamble on my part, I guess. I'm optimistic about my feeling that having Kate and Ryan's stories intersect in the way I'm thinking will have a nice payoff when they'll work together as full-on partners/dynamic duo without the sidekick part, being equals, just one gets more page time/storytime. It will become clear what I'm hoping to do soon enough. Just hoping you and everyone else will find it to be up to the standards expected. I intend to do all your ideas! Even if I've had to toss out some things of my own, I'm sure that is for the best.
Side Characters - I intend to make Luke Batwing at some point, just slightly trying to brainstorm what would happen if he did and became distant. Him growing past "tech guy" could provide issues, in and out of the story. Oh well, we'll see how that goes, I guess lol. Won't happen this season. I agree. Sophie does deserve better. All I'll say is, she'll not die any pointless death ever. She deserves better than that fate. I've actually thought about what to do with her, and I hope that it'll be great. I'm quite happy about it. Should be a happy ending for Sophie (: I'm envious of her ending lol. (In its current state in my mind) Anyways. Mary, yeah, that's about all I can think of for the future. It will be another blow for Jacob when he does. Won't say for sure, but yeah, pretty much. I don't think honestly, Luke, Sophie and Mary will be getting that much going on. (At least for this season, maybe Sophie as I think more) Newbies, Ryan, Renee, Safiyah, Julia to an extent and ?. They kinda are taking a more prominent focus. Kate is main of course, Jacob too is having a bit of a big part, having his risky distrusting of Batwoman and all. Along with Alice, who's pretty, which is the most significant tieing part for Safiyah to come in causing trouble. So yeah, that's why I can say for sure Luke and Mary might get a little to do. They're just hanging around helping out, I guess.
Overlooked Communities in Gotham - I must be honest, I'm not 100% sure what that means. I'll try to think about presenting that element from what I assume it means. If not this season, then the next for sure. Hopefully, it'll not come to that. I think after reading episode 3's potential description, I've got it figured out, I hope. Please do tell if you could what your thinking? Just want to get it right.
About the GCPD Commissioner – It's alright, I'm sure it was easy to forget about him. I can for sure do that. I hinted at it during this episode. (In a rewrite) Renee's got a long way to start cleaning up Gotham's department, at least she's got a positive step now (:
Hugo Strange - I can't say for sure if that is correct or not, gotta keep a little mystery, I guess lol. That is an excellent guess. I want to give a more significant hint, but I don't want to spoil it. You won't have to wait long for an answer.
Black Lives Matter" Type of Situation? - I'm hoping to add this in. I know it's very, you know. I just want to do this right. Black lives, without a doubt, matter and having two black characters with two different backgrounds could prove interesting for a take. I just want to do this right, I'm white. A part of me feels like it's wrong assuming how it should be handled, as many people find it complicated, well the movement, not the concept. (Hope I'm wording this correctly. I feel like walking on landmines) I find it just tragic how the government and interwoven untentally racism has caused this to boil up into such a disaster that wouldn't be fixed for a long time. I've learned many racists didn't think of themselves as ones, making it harder to fix the issues with the broken system. I just personally find it horrible that some people see black people as not people first and foremost. It's likely not even internally. Wish we'd only see people. It should be that way with all people who are good people, of course. Sorry for how preachy this is or something. Just in simplest terms, respect people as equals for real. Not pretend.
To actually answer your question, if/when I do black lives matter stories, it will involve any of the black characters for sure, and I'll try my best with it. We'll see.
(Sorry for rambling)
"Why I Don't Prefer To Write" - Oh, okay, I understand that. Sometimes I can be like that, you have very creative ideas, and I'm grateful to hear them all for this series. It's 10000% helped its quality and has allowed me to have more freedom as I find I can have similar ideas plague my stories along with holding off on some.
Regards to personal matter – That is good. I'm not surprised she'd cut ties. It's still rather unfortunate. Forgot about that for some reason, oh well, hopefully, your enjoying your time and home. I'm sorry you're trapped at home in California. Hope you're not near those fires and whatever other messes.
Future villains - Safe to say, all the ones you mentioned will show up in some form. Either as big bads, secondary villains or once in a while. I should say, likely at least one of the below mentioned (Not including Safiyah, she will be the big bad this season for sure) villains might show up this season. The rest, you might have to wait for a little, sorry. I just want to do them all justice. If you think of any more in the future, share whenever you'd like. No rush at all for sharing any ideas/thoughts. That goes for you and everyone (:
I've also got some I'd like to tackle too. Hopefully, they'll be good additions. Whisper is one of those I want to deal with. My altered version.
Two-Face (Jessica Dent) – I very much enjoy this idea. I think for sure this could very well happen during a season. Not going to say which one, of course, lol. Hope I do this story justice. I enjoyed the Earth One story and was disappointed by it not continuing. Could use Susan Dent as an easter egg, I never heard of that Bruce Wayne show, and it was quite mind-blowing learning about it. Thank you for mentioning it.
Blacksun (Ethan Cobblepot) - Thank you for the idea, I like it! I'll be doing at some point for sure, and looking forward to it.
-Bête Noire (real name unknown) – Your idea is genuinely fantastic. I had my jaw hit the floor pretty much lol. Seriously, it's super unique, and I can say for sure I'll 1000% do that at some point. Never heard of the "Three Ghosts" before, excellent find/idea once again, I'm excited about that one big time!
Arkham Knight (Astrid Arkham) - I'd have to say, you're correct with my thinking of handling that character. It'll pretty much be the same as that. Looking forward to when I use her too!
Talia al Ghul - I remember that for some dumb reason, I thought she meant Batman. You clearly thought more logically, nice catch. For sure, now she's on the loose again, she might have some payback against Batwoman.
Mrs. Freeze - Fair reason to think that. I'm excited to follow up on that.
Harley Quinn - Yeah, I can imagine your right about that. I like your idea (: One of my earlier personal ideas should hopefully be able to enhance your idea. It might have the same with another villain mentioned…..(Sorry for being so cryptic lol)
Joe Chill - I think this for sure could happen. I like exploring the corruption filled in Gotham, City. I must admit as well, I was disappointed Batwoman season 1 never really had Kate try to clean up the mess of the city. Only in minor ways we never really got to feel like it helped. Idk.
My original plans - I admit, for season 2, it was going to be a little different, like this chapter, for example. Actually, it was going to be completely different and follow up more into the rioting and stuff. It's okay, though, not a significant loss. I once again made the error of writing beforehand. I don't plan to make that mistake with episode 4. (Never mind, can't help myself lol.) So, I rewrote a little bit here and cut the original episode 3 completely. That doc is still floating around. Kinda fun to me having a lost episode lol. Likely will bring it back edited at some point. That's a loose thread now.
I'm not getting to reveal everything I changed season 2 wise, structure related. Well, I will when it's over if that is ever asked.
Safiyah Sohail - For one, I'll say I didn't initially plan on using Safiyah as the big bad yet. I will now not an issue. I'll explain/share my original my villain plans at the end of the season if you'd like/care to know. Ultimately, I think this works out better using her here instead of later. I think/hope it'll be a stronger story. Always felt like I was getting worried, I might have strayed away from og season 2/Batwoman. I believe adding Safiyah should hopefully fix that, not much harm caused. Happy to have a course correction now. I was able to have hints and set up that conflict.
Episode Titles and Synopsis:
-I'm very sorry, I can't wrap my head around "If you want the titles to fit on the selection list, type S#E# and then type the episode title." I'm very stupid with directions sometimes ):
Episode descriptions - I find yours to be far superior to mine. I have no clue how you do it so well lol. I'm hopefully that this episode description was better. I think I'll use yours for episode 5 when I'm finally ready to do that plot. If I find a way to change edit chapter one and two, I'll add yours.
How short, to the point and well worded they are is just so amazing to me. Feel embarrassed that I can't accomplish that. Different strengths, I guess.
PS. I -I do thank you, I'm always worried about that happening, and I try to be very careful with it.
PS. II - Thank you for saying that. I do feel very badly for all the fans, which is why I want to do this justice. I wish that they tried to make a compromise or be kinder to their vocal community. I thought/hoped the show was trying to be open to their genuine fanbase listening to them. ):
PS. III - That is shocking. I'm sorry nobody else has said anything too. Maybe they felt defeated and knew they wouldn't be listening for whatever dumb reason. Two other reviews agree with you so far.
Supergirl ): - I was quite sad to hear and seemed out of nowhere. I was hoping for a crossover with her and Batwoman. Depending on what happens, I could potentially do one or more here. I'm very open to that. Hopefully, she enjoys being with her baby, at least. That does make sense, I guess they don't seem to like recasts ): Might have been too cause of the Superman & Lois show. My biggest sadness is that Nia/Dreamer will now be gone forever, most likely, which hurts a ton. She's my favourite character in the whole Arrowverse (Sure, it could be guessed why) and I just love Nicole Maines lol. Hope that Green Arrow and the Canaries will happen. Maybe they made room for that? I'm curious to at least see what it'll be like. I agree good news would be fantastic, and I'm sorry that the Arrowverse has been so disappointing lately. Hope that it will get better overall.
Vesper Fairchild - Thank you for mentioning that. I wasn't confident if it was a good idea to use her or not. I'll try to figure out when it would make the most amount of sense, her dialogue I find is hard to mimic, so the less of her the better for me lol. I will keep her around in all seriousness.
In closing, I hope you're okay with me, sometimes adding parts. Along with other fans too. I'm worried about being only one person and not accomplishing what most people would like. Having someone like you (VIP Guest or whatever) helps a lot with this story, and I know it's a better story now. I've still got a long way to go and a lot more stories to tell for this series. My goal is to make an impactive series that can live up to Batwoman fans expectations. If it's liked a lot consistently, at this current point, I'm optimistic I could go for 10 seasons. So basically, writing for this series for 6 years maybe. So yeah. Thank you very much again. Hope you are doing well (:
Best wishes to you all, and I hope you're enjoying this series still.
