Sasuke slipped through the shadows all through the castle courtyard until he was within the village. With the limited amount of people left in the kingdom, it was easy to run through the darkness with no chance of being seen. Since the dragon was now captured, the people slept more at night. And with there being no moon, it was even darker still.
He had compiled so much information together, he felt the push to gather more, as if needing to confirm where his thoughts were going. His heart was pounding so quickly, he felt anxious and excited all at once that there was no way he would be able to get to sleep. Grabbing his satchel, journal and some pencils, along with a small dagger, he rushed towards the Sound king's encampment in the distance.
It was rather easy to duck between wandering Sound soldiers and tents, not getting in the light of the random small campfires, he quickly found his way towards the area where the dragon was kept. Taking a wide berth around where the dragon lay, he looked for an opening that was the least watched. Finding it easily, he slipped in closer to see how the dragon had been tethered down to the ground. Sasuke found himself clenching his teeth in anger, witnessing how the dragon was being treated.
He could see clearly how dozens of scales were missing from the massive body, mostly closer to the ground since the beast was at least fifty feet tall while lying on the ground, but Sasuke seethed seeing puffy, pink, blood veins and most likely sore as hell, flesh was exposed where scales once were. 'The fuckers were peeling off the scales!' Who was the fucking monster here? His heart ached as he stepped closer to the exposed areas, seeing how reddened the areas were, some were bloody, some were oozing puss, and Sasuke could feel the tears well up. 'No animal or beast should have to put up with this type of torture.'
Because he couldn't stay idle for long, he quickly moved closer to the head of the beast. He stopped again when his eyes caught sight of the large metal poles embedded into the dragon's feet, with thick crusts of blood built up around the punctured skin. 'Oh my fucking—' Sasuke was ready to grab his weapon and unleash the anger that rose up to this throat. Crouching forward more, he found that many of the dragon's talons had been cut off. His fists clenched to see the sores, again with crusted blood, where the talons had been cut from the toes. There was nothing humane about how it was done.
"I'm so sorry," Sasuke whispered. He quickly wiped a tear off his cheek, surprised that one had fallen but he knew the beast didn't deserve this. Checking around him before moving again, he quickly and quietly ran to the head of the dragon. Slowing his walk, keeping close to the body of the dragon to its shadow, he kept watch out for any wandering soldiers. It appeared that their rounds around camp had slowed, and he could hear a bunch of them chuckling and talking on the other side of the dragon. He hoped that they would stay there and enjoy some of the wine that he knew was there, while he continued to investigate.
He slowly followed the long neck, disgusted with every area that was missing scales, the dragon's fleshy areas exposed and looking red, inflamed, and possibly infected. As he began to come up to the dragon's head, the chains that kept the neck secured to the ground increased. Sasuke could no longer see any scales on the beast's neck because it was completely covered with rows and rows of chains. The dragon's head was covered with a burlap sheet, only its nostrils were visible. Sasuke almost tripped from the sight. His eyes wide, trying to get a clear look because there wasn't any firelight, he slowly stepped up and gently touched the material. There was no movement from the dragon, but he could hear it taking long breaths through its nose. He could barely make out the shape of the head, but knew he was near the horns. But there was a confusing factor, there were no horns. Gently he found the edge of the burlap material, and lifted it up to try and get a better look.
Squinting his eyes, he let out a suppressed gasp, when he could see the large ear and a bloody stump where the horn was supposed to be. Sasuke pinched his lips tight, biting at his bottom lip witnessing the torture that this beast had received. An inferno of rage was slamming at his head but when the ear suddenly flicked, he felt a glimmer of hope. "I'm here, it's me," he whispered, but he didn't know why. The ear flicked some more and Sasuke almost cried. Placing the burlap cover down slowly, he crouched and made his way to the nostrils of the dragon. He slowly placed his fist before the nostril, allowing the dragon to smell him, as he would a horse. When the dragon did nothing but continue to smell, Sasuke decided to lift the burlap cover to where he knew the beast's eyes were.
Slowly and carefully, he lifted the material and found the large eyelid closed, and he looked at the area where eyelashes should have been on the eyelid. Instead it was all swollen, with big open sores where it appears eyelash hairs would have once been. The eyelash hairs had all been ripped out. Sasuke managed to suppress the vomit that threatened to erupt. He couldn't stop tears coming this time, "I'm sorry, so sorry," he whispered over and over. His fist clenched the material tightly, the overwhelming abuse and torture he had just witnessed was creating an emotional turmoil in his head.
He shook his head, trying to control himself, and when he reopened his eyes, he was faced with a large glossy eye staring back at him. The multiple red colours that presented in the orb around the dragon's pupil, was as he had seen before on several occasions when they were together in the cave. Sasuke felt his face fall in sadness, seeing that this beast was still apparently coherent, and his heart clenched when moisture gathered in the dragon's eye and slipped to the ground. A dragon's tear.
Clenching his fists and teeth, Sasuke fueled his anger, "I'm going to get you out of here, promise," he whispered. He placed a hand beneath the dragon's eye, rubbing his hand on the thick hide warmly. Though the creature was a dragon, a beast, Sasuke could see plainly that it did not deserve the treatment it was receiving.
A long drawn out growl began coming up through the dragon's neck to its muzzle. A sudden dripping of glowing purple began to flood the dragon's eye area, as if someone was dumping a bucket of paint over the dragon. Sasuke was frozen in his spot, watching what was happening, the glowing purple taking over the pupil of the dragon. 'What's happening?', he thought to himself. He had not seen this strange glowing colour in the eyes of the beast, even when the beast managed to escape the cave.
The dragon struggled moving its head and blinked repeatedly. Suddenly the purple was gone and Sasuke was once again staring at the same glossy eye as before. "What the fuck is going on?" Sasuke hissed. The dragon blinked and released a whining sound. The sounds of footsteps approaching had Sasuke curse and quickly duck into the shadows, lying on the ground, his body pushed against the dragon's neck in the shadows.
The dragon's whines turned into growls, Sasuke could feel them vibrating through the dragon's neck and Sasuke hoped to hell he wouldn't be squashed.
"Hello my pretty," a male's voice purred out from the darkness, the steps stopping before the head of the dragon. "Time for your medicine."
The dragon tried to snarl again, but the chains it had holding it down were thick and powerful.
"Tsk tsk, you're mine now, like it or not," the voice cackled. "This would be so much easier if you would just accept your fate that you are mine!" The voice hissed out, snarling with each word.
The dragon continued to snarl and try to move, but nothing changed.
"Well then, if that's your answer, I will continue to administer your medicine," the voice sighed.
'Medicine? What the —?' Sasuke thought to himself. Curious, he slid himself as carefully as possible closer up to the back of the dragon's head and peeked over the top. There was a man there, he was fully cloaked, but Sasuke could see his grin. He had in hand a large purple orb, glowing and Sasuke glared when seeing the man shove the purple orb up the dragon's nose. The dragon struggled, but it was in vain, as the man shoved his arm far up the muzzle, right up to his shoulder, a manic grin on his teeth.
Next, the man began chanting an incantation of a language Sasuke didn't recognize. 'Casting a spell, but what kind—', Sasuke thought. But his answer was cut short when he saw the glowing purple coming from behind the burlap cover where the dragon's eyes were. When the cloaked figure pulled his arm out after his incantation, mist of purple rose from both nostrils.
"There we go, all good," the man sneered. "Be a good boy and let's get started on getting those pesky thorns off your tail." The man called out to men behind him and walked alongside the dragon, Sasuke quickly ducked down back into the shadows. Sasuke watched as several men walked behind the cloaked figure, carrying all types of large tools. Axes, saws, pry bars, clippers – Sasuke shuddered at the sight. When all was clear, he quickly slipped back to where he knew the dragon's eye was and lifted the sheet. He was faced with a glowing purple eye and the dragon shook its head the best it could with a snarl. 'It has to be spellbound,' Sasuke thought and frowned at the creature. Giving the beast another soft pat beneath its eye, he slowly dropped the sheet and snuck after the group of men that were headed to the end of the beast.
He nearly vomited when he saw what the group of men were doing around the dragon's tail, working in the light from small torches in the area. The men were digging into the beast's tail end; grinding, digging and wretching out the large spikes that were in the tail. Puss and blood shot out and oozed from where the men shoved their tools in and ripped out the spikes. He needed to leave before he became so angry he may do something stupid, so he quickly slipped through the shadows and back towards the castle.
Sasuke didn't make it far away from the encampment before he found himself vomiting beside a tree. Shaking with rage at what he had seen, he held back from returning to the castle grounds and headed towards a more heavily bushed area, on the far side from the village and encampment. He kept his lips shut, not wanting to scream, wail and call out his anger until he was certain he wouldn't be heard. His heart was pounding heavily against his rib cage, his blood he was certain was ready to boil, and if he clenched his teeth any harder he swore his jaw would lock.
Falling to his hands and knees, his stomach lurched and heaved, his visions of the blood, puss, weeping wounds littering the dragon, the numerous areas where it was slowly being tortured as pieces of it were literally being ripped and sliced from its body. Sasuke had seen death, destruction, people who had been sadly killed from wars, but to see a creature being subjected to such manic torture, seeing the abuse, repulsed him so much he couldn't stop the nausea.
When his stomach stopped heaving, he moved to sit back and lean against a tree, catching his breath and spitting out the vile taste in his mouth. He needed to talk to Kakashi about this. The man in the cloak was obviously forcing some sort of sorcery on the dragon, what it did, he wasn't sure but he wouldn't put it past him that the cloaked man may have been putting the dragon in a fog making it spellbound.
A movement in his peripheral vision had Sasuke hold his breath. Thankfully with no moon and the shadows hid his form well, but there was no telling what the movement was. Turning his head ever so slowly, he turned to peer between trunks of trees and bush. He didn't hear sounds of movement, and had only seen a movement that appeared to be reflecting off light. But the problem was, what light? There was no moon and the stars were the only lights in the sky. The small fires created around the castle were all a significant distance away.
Sasuke brushed it off as perhaps an owl, for they had no sounds when flying and he could have just caught it going by while it was zeroing in on its prey.
"Sasuke."
The whispered voice had Sasuke's heart leap into his throat and he rolled away from the sudden voice, grabbing his dagger and preparing himself to defend himself. His eyes quickly looked around in the darkness and a figure came closer to him, but he couldn't see who it was. "Identify yourself," he hissed out in a whisper-yell, poising his dagger in position to attack.
"Sasuke?"
Sasuke knew that voice. He quickly stood, peering into the darkness between the trees, looking frantically about. Stepping carefully through the brush, he whispered, "Naruto? Where are you?" The silhouette of the blonde boy stepped closer to Sasuke, nearly giving him a heart attack, but he quickly quelled his fear. He could see the outline of his head, his hair sticking out in several directions, longer still, than when he was but a boy, but he was also wearing the same clothing when he met him the other night.
Sasuke quickly and carefully jogged up to his blond friend. "What happened! Last time we met, you–you…" he trailed off, recalling their brief conversation, Naruto disappearing and being ripped back into the darkness.
Naruto clasped his hands together, rubbing them nervously, his eyes looking to the side in thought. "It's hard to explain," he began. He then sat, cross legged on the ground, putting his cheek on his palm, elbow on his knee. "I was really hoping to see you again, yet, I don't know when that was? It was in the forest, like this." He held his one arm up, moving it to the side pointing to the forest.
Sasuke nodded his head in agreement. "That was just two nights ago," he added.
"Damn, doesn't feel like it," Naruto mumbled. "But anyhow, wherever I was, really didn't seem familiar. I was walking, a lot, through a purple fog. I couldn't even see the ground where I was walking even! At first I was fucking terrified, but the more I walked, the more it was just – empty."
"You're right, I don't understand," Sasuke whispered, shaking his head slowly.
"But Sas, wait, I heard you, and I could see you, briefly, through the fog, almost like a flickering vision." Naruto waved his arms in a big circle. "And–and I was so sad," he mumbled. "I couldn't get to you, didn't know how, it was like you were part of the fog…and then you were gone." He pushed his hand through his locks before rubbing them down the front of his face. He kept his eyes down, not looking up at Sasuke. "And now I'm suddenly here." He looked up.
Sasuke's heart clenched seeing the water eyes of his long time friend and he was hopeless to know how to fix it.
"And I'm terrified I'm going to disappear again, because, well it feels like the last time. I'm here, but I know I'm not really here…" he trailed off into a whisper, pulling his knees up and hiding his face behind his crossed arms.
Sasuke couldn't stop himself. He lunged forward and wrapped his arms around his friend, feeling his body tremble in sadness and he laid his cheek upon the thick blond hair. "Naru–I can feel you, can you feel me? You're here, right now…" Sasuke whispered.
The blond sobbed quietly into his arms, his body trembling with fear or sadness but didn't respond nor move.
"I'm going to figure this out, promise," Sasuke whispered firmly, squeezing Naruto's form in his arms. "Because you are here, somewhere, and . ." Sasuke firmly spoke between clenched teeth.
After several moments, the blond finally moved, Sasuke slipping back to sit, giving the blond time to compose himself. He waited to see those blue eyes that pulled him into a place where he felt comfortable, safe, warm and home. And when those eyes finally looked up at him, they were red and puffy from tears, Sasuke wanted to wipe those tears away and make those eyes shine with excitement and happiness as they once were so many years before.
Naruto wiped his face slowly, sniffling in the process before taking some breaths. He glanced up at his friend, seeing those dark orbs watching him carefully, the concern etched within them was easy for him to see. He gave a weak smile, hope had warmed his heart with Sasuke's words. "Okay," he whispered. "Where do we start?"
Sasuke gave a small smile towards the other, who he could see was struggling to stay strong. "I've journaled what we talked about before, so let's start there and tell me everything you can remember." He turned, reaching into his satchel and grabbing his journal and pencil.
The pair were blessed with more time together than their last meeting and Sasuke diligently took down the information as Naruto talked. In the back of Sasuke's mind he desperately tried to come up with a reasoning of why Naruto disappeared last time and hoped whatever it was would wait, just wait, please. The most important detail in this meeting was that Sasuke could actually feel Naruto's physical body. Something he didn't know was possible when they met two nights ago. This had to be an important factor in whatever this situation was that had Naruto trapped.
Trapped.
"Naruto!" Sasuke exclaimed, causing Naruto to stop talking and look at him surprised. "Your physical body, I can feel it, you can feel it, do you know what this means?" Sasuke ran a hand quickly through his hair, his eyes looking over Naruto's body. Naruto just shrugged, waiting for Sasuke to speak. "You must be trapped somewhere! Your body I mean! And your subconscious is–is…" Sasuke snapped his fingers repeatedly in frustration, slapping his other hand on his forehead. His eyes were looking everywhere around him as he struggled to find the answer.
Naruto tilted his head slightly, his eyes watching his friend and confused on what Sasuke was doing. "Sasuke?" he whispered, trying to get his friend's attention.
"Your subconscious must be wandering, or floating or something!" Sasuke sputtered out, grabbing his journal and furiously writing. "Like in the astral plane!"
Naruto squished his face in confusion and scratched the side of his head, "uh, what kind of apple plate?"
"No dobe, astral plane. It's part of the teachings of the planes of existence." Sasuke went on as he continued to write.
"O-Kay?" Naruto said simply, trying to hide his confusion.
"I'm not going to explain the complex details of it, but, it would make sense, if your physical form is trapped in the physical plane, which is where we are. But your mind, your thoughts, everything that makes you – well you, has been detached from your body to exist in the astral plane and is somehow only able to manifest into a temporary physical form when—when…" Sasuke trailed off, his lips pinching tight into a frown.
Naruto said nothing, just letting Sasuke talk.
"I–I don't know when…" Sasuke whispered, sadness and disappointment in his voice, dropping his face down, hiding his eyes. His hand stopped writing and the pencil fell limply from his fingers to the ground.
Naruto quickly scooted and faced Sasuke, taking his fingers and gently lifting Sasuke's face by the chin to look directly at him. When Sasuke's eyes met his, he then trailed his fingers tips along Sasuke's jaw before cupping his cheek with his palm. "Sasuke," Naruto whispered, keeping his eyes locked on those midnight coloured eyes, finding himself being pulled into the deep abyss. Sasuke just kept looking at him, a look of helplessness swam in his eyes and Naruto couldn't help but feel a stab of hurt from seeing his friend in such distress.
Because of me.
Keeping his hand against Sasuke's cheek, feeling the softness of the skin and the warmth radiating from him. His heart ached seeing Sasuke's pained face and he wished hard he could take the discomfort and pain away, taking upon himself to deal with. Naruto leaned closer and rested his forehead upon the other. "Sasuke, please don't stress over me so much, I'm not worth it," he whispered while his thumb caressed the porcelain skin softly.
Sasuke trembled slightly, closing his eyes to feel the warmth of Naruto's body so close and his words brushing like a soft breeze past his lips. His hands clenched Naruto's thighs, how they ended up there he didn't know, but he didn't move them. Feeling Naruto's physical body so close, solid, real and alive, had his heart thumping with an excitement that had his skin tingling with goosebumps. "Don't ever say that again," Sasuke managed to whisper in response. He slowly opened his eyes to see blues, glossy with tears but none fell. "I'll get you home," he added slowly. His eyes flickered to Naruto's lips, before looking back at the blue eyes. The blond began to lean closer, ever so slowly, his eyes looking at Sasuke's lips quickly and looking back up, as if asking permission. Sasuke felt his eyes begin to close, leaning into the other, feeling the warmth of Naruto's hand still caressing his cheek — and the warmth was gone instantly.
Surprised, Sasuke jerked his eyes open and saw sad crystal blues looking back at him. Naruto's lips moved, Sasuke could see his name coming from those lips, but heard no sound. Naruto held up his palm back to Sasuke's cheek, but no warmth came from it and Sasuke reached up automatically to grasp it. He choked on a sob and bit his bottom lip to suppress it when his hand grasped nothing but cold air, easily slipping through the blond, again, like he was nothing but a ghostly figure. Naruto frowned sadly in response to Sasuke's grasp, Sasuke just staring wide eyed, frozen as he watched the blond slowly dissipate into nothing. When Naruto was gone completely, Sasuke clenched his fists and screamed his agony into the cold earth.

Sasuke had no idea how long he lay crumpled, pounding the cold earth below him, his throat hurt from yelling out his frustrations and his eyes burned from the tears that he shed.
It wasn't fucking fair.
He fell back on his knees, eyes closed, head dropped and he took some breaths to steady himself. The words Naruto whispered still echoing in his ears.
I'm not worth it…
Like fuck he wasn't.
"Stupid dobe, always so damn proud…" he grumbled. When he thought about their history together, the little blond would always make sure Sasuke got what he needed first. From the first snack, sweet, pick of toy, warmest blanket, whatever, Naruto was just like that. Shifting his position to stand, his hand brushed by his journal, which had fallen to the ground sometime during his interaction with Naruto. Brushing it off, he found the pencil and recalled the conversations that were had. Feeling a new renowned sense of purpose, he shoved the journal back into his satchel and brushed himself off while getting to his feet. Seeing that it was still the dead of night, noting that most of the castle occupants would still be asleep, he considered going to find Kakashi tonight, and tell him of his findings. No way would he be able to sleep now after all this. He quickly set off from the thick bush forest and headed to the front of the castle grounds in the distance.

Orochimaru stood behind the table situated in his tent, moving various types of powders, different coloured liquids and thick substances into different sized jars. He would quickly put a small design in pencil on the labelled jar and tucked it away into a case. A sickly smile was on his lips as his eyes roved over all the jars still being packed away. With each marking on a jar, he would then write something in his large journal to the side.
A call from outside the tent flaps caught his attention and Orochimaru called for the person to be allowed in. Kabuto waltzed into the tent and immediately dropped to one knee, bowing his head in submission before the table where Orochimaru stood.
"Report," Orochimaru grunted out, his eyes still focusing on his task of pouring and labelling.
"We have been successful in removing the thorns from the tail, with little injuries to the men," Kabuto purred out. "They are currently stored in a locked chest in my tent until you are ready for them, your majesty."
"Excellent work," Orochimaru praised. "What can you report on the progress of healing?"
Kabuto remained on one knee with head bowed, "it's bad news majesty. What we had hoped for has not happened. The beast may only have standard healing abilities."
Orochimaru slowly put down his hands, placing them on the top of the table. He frowned and looked about at the products splayed out. "Well then, this does change things doesn't it," he hummed and placed his thumb and forefinger on his chin. He stepped around the table and slowly paced his tent, his head nodding slightly and finger tapping his chin.
He had a lot to think about, planning to do, considerations to go over, weighing options on what would work best for his kingdom as a whole. He glanced over at his trusted servant, who still remained in a submissive position and he felt himself smirk. Taking a few strides to his bed, he settled himself comfortably down into a sitting position. "We have some thinking to do," he purred and licked his lips. He was in a very good mood. "Come. Your lips are required," he cooed.
Kabuto dropped to all fours and crawled quickly to Orochimaru's feet. He leaned in and rubbed his cheek against the king's calf submissively.
Orochimaru ran his fingers through the silver hair. "Now, we need to determine what the next best move will be," he hummed while still petting the other's hair. "I do have several ideas, but I must know," Orochimaru snapped his voice in an authoritative tone when he pulled up Kabuto's hair to make the man look at him. "What of your control on the beast?" Kabuto's eyes were dilated with lust, his cheeks glowing red. Orochimaru felt his semi hard cock swell more.
"Continuous my lord," his voice cracked huskily.
"Are you certain," Orochimaru hissed, glaring at the man as he gripped his hair tighter, jerking his head to the side and up.
Kabuto stumbled upwards, his head being tugged up and pulling his body closer to the king's. His breathing hitched in excitement, the sting of pain in his scalp, feeling the king's glare on his body and he glanced at the king's lap. He licked his lips seeing the prominent bulge. A sharp pain to his hair had him looking back up at the king's eyes, demanding he speak. "The spell still is strong my lord, with each dose I give. It sleeps when I command, keeping it imprisoned within my mind as we harvest."
Orochimaru narrowed his eyes at the man in his grasp. He was no fool, he knew if Kabuto ever wanted to betray him, he could control the beast to do his bidding. But thankfully, he was no fool. He knew Kabuto's weakness, which was heavily in Orochimaru's advantage. He could see the lust swimming in those eyes, and as long as he kept feeding Kabuto's weakness, his desires, the man was in his control. He released the silver hair, pet it softly and dragged his fingers down the man's jaw line to his lips. He could see Kabuto's lips quiver at his touch, panting heavily, his eyes briefly closing from Orochimaru's touch. He rubbed his thumb on Kabuto's lower lip and the man wrapped his lips around his thumb, his tongue twirling around the tip.
"Good boy," the king purred. "You have done well, and are well deserving of what you desire." He pulled back his arms, leaning them back on the bed and spread his knees more before the man still on his knees. A subtle hint of what was being offered.
Kabuto licked his lips and began to run his hands up the king's thighs, before pushing aside the lavish robes and untying the sash that held the king's pants secured to his waist. "His majesty is always so generous, so beautiful," Kabuto breathed out while moving his tongue along the skin to the king's now heavy erect cock.
Orochimaru inhaled as he felt the man drag his tongue up his cock and engulf the swollen mushroom head. He moved his one hand to entangle his fingers in the silver hair, guiding Kabuto's head in slow long strokes up and down his swollen cock. He hissed, feeling the familiar warmth and suction of Kabuto's mouth, his tongue tickling and lapping up around the slit to taste his precum. He watched the lips around his cock, the sight exciting him more, yes, he was in a good mood tonight.
Pushing on the back of Kabuto's head, he forced the man to deep throat him and held his head tightly, causing Kabuto to groan and gag at the thick cock trapped in his throat. "AAaahhhh yessss…," Orochimaru groaned deeply, gripping the silver hair tightly while Kabuto's head shook in his grasp. When he pulled back on the hair, ripping Kabuto's face away from his cock, Kabuto inhaled a loud breath before slumping, his eyes full of tears, face flushed and a groan coming from his lips. Orochimaru smirked at the sight. "You're such a good boy, deserving of more tonight," he purred, rubbing his thumb on Kabuto's swollen lips.
Kabuto practically drooled, holding his position of submission within the king's grasp, his cock straining against his pants and his eyes were swimming with lust. He nearly fell to the floor when Orochimaru released his hair suddenly.
The king stood, grasping his still hardened member, stroking it leisurely and looked down at his submissive. "Get yourself ready and present yourself to your king. I will fill that hole full," Orochimaru purred, licking his lips. His cock throbbed as he watched Kabuto's eyes widen with excitement and moved off the floor towards the bed. 'Yes, a good mood indeed,' he hummed to himself.
