"Los Angeles was hit with a missile from the Bertrand Republic!" Sugino told his commander. Nagisa was shocked to hear that the Bertrand Republic launched a missile at a city. He clenched his fist as he said, "The Casualties have to be in the hundreds of thousands at least." Sugino and Karma nodded as Rio and Kayano hugged Nagisa closely.
"Nagisa!" said the voice. The group looked and saw General Karasuma walking to them. "The President was just told about Los Angeles so he's called all the leaders of the Japanese States here. I want your men to provide security for this conference."
Nagisa nodded his head and said, "Of course. We need a united Japan if the Bertrand Republic is going to come for us next." General Karasuma nodded his head and they all walked off.
In North America, President Bertrand sat in his seat as the Battle of Las Vegas began. The West Coast Republic Fought tooth and nail to keep the city. West Coast Republic Forces even brought out 75mm Pack Howitzer M1 Artillery Guns to rain metal fire down on the enemy. One Bertrand Republic General sent a column of M1A1 Abram tanks down the side but were intercepted by West Coast Republic's own M1A1 Abram and Pershing tanks. In the sky, Bertrand Republic F-35C Lightning IIs were battling West Coast Republic F-35C Lightning IIs.
"Mr. President, with our numerical advantage we own the skies, but the West Coast Republic is making the ground battle a bloody slaughter."
President Bertrand sighed and said, "Very well, I was hoping not to do this but I have no choice… Pull the men back to the safezone General… send in the Stratofortresses. Bomb Las Vegas to the ground." The general nodded his head and ordered all Bertrand Republic armed forces and their allies to pull back. West Coast Republic forces cheered and pushed to take back Las Vegas when several pilots tried to stop them.
"Why? We're pushing the enemy back out of Vegas!" Said the ground commander.
The jet leader tried to warn them, shouting, "THEY'RE SENDING…!" However, he was shot down before he could deliver the warning. That was when the roar of several jet engines were heard over heard as a Squadron of 5 B-52 Stratofortress bombers came over Vegas and released their Payload of 20 GBU-31 2,000-pound bombs on Vegas. The West Coast Republic Armed forces, which was the 3rd army, saw this and began to run. However they could not outrun the bombs and only a few managed to escape. Las Vegas was decimated.
Back in Japan, the leaders of the Tochigi Provinces, Shioku People's Democratic Republic, the New Japanese Empire of the rising sun, and Hokkaido Empire all gathered in Kyoto. The President of the Free Japanese Republic sat down and said, "Gentlemen, and madam. As you are aware, the West coast Republic has been attacked by the Bertrand Republic."
"We all heard that President Hitoshi, what does that have to do with us?" Asked Emperor Bakuya of the Hokkaido Empire.
President Hitoshi looked at Bakuya and said, "If we don't unite now, the Bertrand Republic will easily take us down one by one. I know I proposed this 5 years ago and we didn't. But with a common threat to all of Japan, we must unite."
The Premier of the Shioku People's Democratic Republic, Premier Hadoko, stood up and said, "You helped us save our homes from invasion, I will pledge my support to your plan."
"As an apology for thinking that you were the ones who attacked us, we will also support your plan Mr. President." Said Genji Shimada, leader of the Tochigi Provinces.
That was when Emperor Hanzo Shimada, no relation to Genji Shimada, stood up and said, "We will not join due to the constant harassment from the Shioku People's Democratic Republic."
"And what about the Akita Union to the south of my people?" Asked Prime Minister Shishido Yajirobei of the Hokkaido Empire. As they debated, Nagisa was in his military uniform watching them with Karma standing next to him. They were the first to respond when the room heard a banging on the door. Opening it up, Nagisa was given a piece of paper by a soldier. Reading it, Nagisa gasped before running over to president Hitoshi and talking quietly to him.
"Oh dear… is it confirmed?" President Hitoshi asked.
"Yes sir." Nagisa said, showing him the paper. President Hitoshi sighed before looking at the others.
"We just got word from the West Coast Republic Diplomats… Las Vegas was decimated."
Gasps filled the room before Prime Minister Shishido asked, "Collateral Damage?"
"No survivors. The Bertrand Republic was thorough, even involving children." Nagisa read off the report. Muttering filled the room.
"That… mad man." Said Emperor Hanzo. President Hitoshi stood with a sharp look in his eye.
"The time for debate is over. We need to take action."
"Then are we in agreement? Shall we put aside our differences and reunite Japan's land?" President Hitoshi asked the people there. The leaders looked at each other before nodding and agreeing. When they got home, they each showed their legislators and senate what was shown to them and they agreed, unification.
In Tokyo Harbor, a sailor was on board his ship looking out when he saw several ships heading their way. He ran and told the Admiral, "INCOMING FLEET FROM THE EAST!"
The Admiral looked east before shouting, "GET THE MEN TO BATTLESTATIONS!"
"BATTLESTATIONS! ALL HANDS MAN YOUR BATTLESTATIONS AND AWAIT ORDERS!" the second in command barked into a radio. The men scrambled to get to their stations as the Admiral looked closer. His eyes widened.
"Lieutenant! Tell the men to stand down, those ships are from the West Coast Republic."
As though he was waiting to support this, his comms officer was heard on the radio and said, "Sir it's from the West Coast Republic's Admiral. He's asking for permission to board."
"Bring him on." the Admiral said.
Meanwhile, Nagisa was leading his militia to the Ataki Union's border as his Militia was tasked to lead the spearhead against them. Sakura loaded her rifle and smiled at her old mentor. After passing through the Free Japanese Republic's Border with the Tochigi Provinces, they arrived at the Tochigi Provinces's Border with the Ataki Union. Nagisa's Militia was quickly joined by the 6th Armored Division, who greeted them.
"Colonel H. Akio" Nagisa said as he shook hands with the colonel.
"Good to see you Nagisa, I assume you're leading this mission?"
"Yup. Once we cross this border, we're at war." Colonel Akio nodded and the two faced forwards. Good soldiers are ready for war, but never look forward to it.
A radio operator ran up to them and said, "The Cobra Attack Helicopters are on their way sirs."
"Artillery. Open fire!" Nagisa called into his radio as he readied his pistol. A platoon quickly pulled out Type 99 155 Howitzers and launched a barrage on the nearby Ataki Union Ground forces. After a few minutes, Nagisa had the Artillery stop firing and looked at the men under his command. He allowed himself a proud smirk. He raised his pistol before pointing it towards the now enemy units and shouted, "CHARGE!"
"I need help with the wounded!" shouted one Ataki Union Medical Officer. The commanding officer of the Ataki Union forces was standing stunned from the sudden attack. He saw Free Japanese Republic Cobra Attack Helicopters come into view and that was when he realized that they had been had.
"GET THE WOUNDED OUT OF HERE AND PREPARE THE DEFENSES! INCOMING Free Japanese Republic FORCES!" Shouted the commander before he got sniped by Chiba positioned at the underbelly of one of the Cobra Attack Helicopters. Nagisa came into view with his men at the ready, and they pushed fast through the Ataki Union's Encampment, managing to capture some Artillery and Tanks.
Days went by as the Ataki Union struggled to maintain control of its lands. But the combined Power of the Free Japanese Republic, the Tochigi Provinces and the Hokkaido Empire on all sides closed in and surrounded the City of Sendai, The Ataki Union's Capital City. Nagisa gave the city defenders a Chance to surrender, but they didn't take it. Nagisa then offered to let the women, children, and any wounded go free but the leader of the Ataki Union also refused that.
As the siege went on, Nagisa had several men infiltrate the city with people from the city that just wished the siege would end. The men were the best of his shooters and demolition experts. They blew up a hole in the Ataki Union's Defensive Positions and that allowed the allied Forces into the city. Soon, Nagisa and Karma captured the Ataki Union's Corrupt Leader and, with the help of senators in the Ataki Union who supported the Free Japanese Republic's plan for unification, elected a leader who pledged his support to it. Finally, all of Japan was united in a common goal: The defense of Japan.
Nagisa was happy his militia was always put in the front lines as he got a message from Rio to meet her in a hotel room. Nagisa was confused but he went to his room. When the door opened, Nagisa saw Rio in a robe and she pulled into the room. Nagisa tried to speak, but Rio planted her lips onto his and kept him quiet. Nagisa was shocked and smiled before saluting his commanding officer and said, "THANK YOU SIR!"
Karasuma smiled and saluted back to Nagisa before leaving the city.
"ALRIGHT NAGISA!" shouted Sugino after he and the others were told about Nagisa's promotion by him.
"I gotta say man, you earned it." Karma said with a smile.
"Thanks, Colonel Akabane. I'll need someone to lead the Militia and I can think of no better person than you my friend." Nagisa replied.
"Heh. You got it." Karma smirked. Rio pulled Nagisa into a hug and kiss.
"General Nagisa has a nice ring to it baby." Rio said to her lover. Nagisa let out a short laugh. They allowed the Ataki Union's Army, who supports the plan President Hitoshi made, to be made in charge of search and rescue as they were called back to the Capital of the Free Japanese Republic.
"May I ask why Mr. President?" Nagisa asked President Hitoshi.
"We just got word from an Admiral of the West Coast Republic. It's fallen. The Bertrand Republic has complete control of the US." President Hitoshi told Nagisa. He was shocked, surprised, and worried all at once.
"What are your orders Mr. President?" Nagisa said with a goal in his mind. President Hitoshi simply told Nagisa to get his Army to Tokyo and that they had some planning to do.
In North America, President Bertrand cursed at how the West Coast Republic's Leadership were able to slip away from his army; along with those who were fighting against him. He decided to turn his anger north to take control of Canada and Alaska.
"I want that land." John said as his generals looked at him with slight fear. They had never seen him that angry before. But they still had the utmost respect for him. They acknowledged their leader and left. President Bertrand then walked over to a crate that only he could open and he opened it up.
"You shouldn't have resisted me when you did." The crate moved a bit before President Bertrand closed the lid again.
Back in Japan, Nagisa entered the meeting room and saw Karasuma and President Hitoshi.
"How were we told about the West coast Republic?" Nagisa asked them. The Admiral walked up to them and President Hitoshi told Nagisa that a west coast Republic Fleet arrived recently and they told them everything.
"Good thing you're not gung ho like Terasaka was, Itona." Nagisa said to admiral Itona Horibe. Itona nodded his head and said, "Yeah, shame he died to raiders 3 years in."
"Yeah… he was a good guy." Nagisa said sadly. He thought back to when he was a Private in the Militia.
He and Terasaka were taking fire from Bandits and they needed evac. Nagisa was injured and Terasaka kept the Bandits at bay. When Sugino arrived with Karma, Terasaka pushed Nagisa into the back of the humvee and banged on the side of it.
"Get in so we can go!" Sugino called
"No! I'll cover you guys, Nagisa's almost dead. Get him to the Camp now!" shouted Terasaka as he jumped forward to take on the bandits.
"TERASAKA NO!" shouted Nagisa as Karma hopped into the turret and fired to cover Terasaka.
"Get out of here!" Terasaka yelled at Sugino.
"Terasaka, we-!" A rocket whistled as it approached, forcing the former baseball player to speed away.
"NO! WE NEED TO GO BACK!" shouted Nagisa, thrashing about.
"Nagisa! You need to stop!" Karma yelled as he wrestled Nagisa down, taking out and injecting him with a sedative. Nagisa struggled weakly before passing out, with a small tear falling down. By the time he woke up again, his friends had gone back to Terasaka, but found him dead, surrounded by dead Raiders. Nagisa was furious at the sight of the body, and the group mourned their fallen friend.
'It's been a while since then. Hopefully we can avoid something similar this time.' Nagisa thought back in the present day. Nagisa sighed and sat down with Karasuma, Itona, President Hitoshi and the Admiral of the West Coast Republic's Main battle fleet that managed to escape with the soldiers that were from the occupied Nations under the Bertrand Republic's boot.
"We thank you for letting us dock here, we steamed right here and were close to empty." Said the Admiral of the West Coast Republic's main Battle Fleet.
President Hitoshi nodded his head and said, "I was about to tell your Ambassadors that with Japan now united, we were going to show you our support against the Bertrand Republic. We give our condolences that we acted too slow and your homes are now under occupation."
"That's alright, not the first time a nation's been occupied." said a voice. The Admiral of the West Coast Republic's main Battle Fleet stepped to the side with a salute.
"Mr President, Japanese Generals and Admiral, my President. President John Kennedy." When the president of the West Coast Republic came into view, Nagisa, Karasuma, and President Hitoshi were all shocked at how close he looked to the United States's 35th President.
"I know what you're thinking. Am I in relation to the 35th President of the United States? Let me tell you this. I am in fact related to him." said President Kennedy. He sat down and they discussed plans on how to deal with the Bertrand Republic.
Back in America, a patrol of Bertrand Republic Soldiers were walking in the West Coast Republic as a Sherman tank rolled behind them when a rocket struck the Sherman tank, killing the crew. When the soldiers looked around, they got gunned down by West Coast Republic Resistance fighters. The leader of the Resistance was looking over the enemy leader's body for anything useful when a Strange Portal opened up. The resistance fighters aimed their rifles at the portal when two men in body armor stepped through and looked at them.
"Fear not, we're on your side." said one of them. The resistance Fighters hesitantly lowered their rifles as the leader walked up to the two strangers and asked for their identification.
"There will be a time for that later. Right now we are looking for a man that looks like this." said one of them as he held up a holographic picture of President Bertrand.
"The president of the Bertrand Republic?" asked a resistance fighter.
The two men in armor looked at each other before looking back at the resistance fighters and the one on the left said, "Not exactly."
Back in Japan, Nagisa and his friends were enjoying a break when a portal opened up and out came another Yuma and Hiroto in body Armor.
"WHAT THE?!" shouted Yuma and Hiroto. Nagisa was speechless as Meg and Hinata looked between the two Yumas and Hirotos.
"Looks like we're in Japan, Yuma." said the Hiroto that was in body armor.
"Looks like it Hiroto. Hey guys, mind taking us to your leader?" the Yuma in Body armor asked the still shocked group. Nagisa nodded his head, a bit stunned, and cautiously led them to President Hitoshi.
"What in the world?!" was what President Hitoshi said as he saw the two Yumas and Hirotos. Karasuma was equally as shocked.
"Well, long story short, we're multi-universal travelers trying to protect all the good universes. We got a report that a man we're currently fighting against came here and took over the life of his world's version of himself." Isogai said to the shocked group.
"Who is your target?" Karasuma asked the other universe Visitors.
Maehara pulled out a hologram projector and powered it up, showing them President Bertrand's head before he said, "his name is John Bertrand, but in his universe, he took over E-Class and turned them into killers. Then they went through a name change and they call themselves the Grim Reapers. That world's John then took the name the Grand Grim Reaper. We only just recently learned of his name."
"That's President Bertrand!" said President Hitoshi. Isogai and Maehara looked at each other before sighing.
"Then we need to inform our John," said Isogai. Everyone was shocked.
"Hang on… YOUR JOHN?!" Shouted Nagisa. Maehara nodded and pressed a button on his helmet after putting it on his head.
"Come on, John." Said Maehara. Seconds later, another portal opened up and out came another person wearing body armor. After taking his helmet off, Nagisa, Karma, Yuma, Hiroto, Karasuma, and President Hitoshi were all shocked to see that it was another John.
As Nagisa reached for his blaster, Bertrand Raised a hand and said, "I am not your enemy. The John who took over a country is your enemy. We are here to help you."
"You sure? President Bertrand has become a ruthless man, spares no one, not even children." Nagisa said. Bertrand was visibly shaken at what he heard and Isogai placed a hand on his shoulder and helped him calm down. Nagisa was taken aback by that sight.
"John here was forced to kill children while on a mission in the middle east." Maehara told the people looking at them. Nagisa was shocked. Soon Bertrand fell to his knees. Isogai and Maehara had to help him up.
"Have him sit down here." Nagisa said as he gave up his seat. Isogai and Maehara nodded and sat Bertrand down in the seat.
"So it's clear to me now that not all John Bertrands are dickwads." Nagisa said as he offered Bertrand some water. He took it and drank the cup.
"Most aren't. Thank you for the water. But there are some Johns who are evil." Bertrand said to the listeners.
"So how are you able to traverse the Multiverse?" President Hitoshi asked. Bertrand pulled out the device that allowed him and his team to traverse the Multiverse.
"This was made by a villain in our world but only I can use it. The Grand Grim Reaper, or President Bertrand as you know him by, found his own world's Portal gun. They run on Gold."
Karma snickered as Nagisa said, "That is funny, Gold: AU. Alternate Universe; AU."
"I know, I realized it too." Said Bertrand. Karma asked John to tell them some stories of the universes they've been to.
"Well how about I tell you about the very FIRST one we visited." Said Bertrand as he began talking about their travels in the Multiverse.
The next morning, Bertrand opened a bigger portal and allowed tanks and attack helicopters to come through. Nagisa was speechless as he saw the reinforcements come in.
Isogai walked up to Bertrand and said, "We got word from Karma. He and Tomohito made contact with the West Coast Republic Resistance against the Bertrand Republic."
Bertrand Smiled and said, "Good, tell them to make sure the Resistance keeps up the fight." Isogai nodded and walked off as Nagisa walked up to one tank and looked at it in awe.
"You like it? Itone made the design himself." Bertrand said to Nagisa.
"So he's not an Admiral in your world?" Nagisa said, getting a head shake.
"No, he's a genius inventor like his father. Tinkered with electronics and was able to build some of the Largest Drones in my world."
Nagisa was shocked but thought, 'that sounds like Itona, tinkering with electronics'
Bertrand showed Nagisa the device Itona made to tell the universe versions apart. He told Nagisa, "Each universe has a unique stand of particles we call Unipartics. We assigned them numbers and letters. This universe we call 18S. Why it's called 18S, it's the 18th universe we've been to, and the S is that the travel to this universe is Safe."
"Wow, nice." Nagisa said as Bertrand went on and showed him all the technology that they were going to use.
