Chapter 8: Tarnishing Fate One Day at a Time Part 2
Konoha Academy: Hinata's POV
My team only had to wait for a few minutes after Iruka sensei finished giving our teams when the classroom door opened and stepped a beautiful woman with black, wild-looking hair, wearing a strange but gorgeous white dress with rose thorn patterns, and astonishing red ruby eyes, red as a setting sun. "Team 8, I'm Kurenai Yuhi, Nice to meet you all, Please meet me at training ground 3 for introductions." She said with a voice as velvety as silk sheets. Hearing and seeing the most beautiful woman I have seen in my short life, my breath quickly caught in my chest as an unseen blush made its way present on my face. "Oh Dear Kami, why am I so flustered? Why do I feel this way all of a sudden?" I asked myself in thought as Kiba and Sjino got up to leave for introductions. I sat with the world about as clear to me as a pitch-black night. I'm not sure what these weird feelings are or if it's right to feel this way in the first place considering that Kurenai is now my new sensei. To clear my mind, I closed my eyes and then started taking long breaths to catch up with everything I felt until I felt a hand on my shoulder. Startled slightly out of my predicament, I looked up to see Shino, stoically showing an amount of concern that I have rarely ever seen on his covered face. "Sorry, I got caught up in something," I answered back as I got up to leave, missing the look of questioning on Kiba's face.
Training Ground 3: Hinata's POV
After reaching training ground 3 which is near the academy, only around 50 or so meters from the main building, we finally sat down with Kurenai sitting on a random log in front of us with a small smile on her face. Despite the training ground not being that far from the academy, it was perhaps the longest walk I have had in my life up to this point. My stupid hormones are probably causing me to feel this……uncontrolled. I guess that is the best way to put it, uncontrolled. I feel as if my stomach is filled with a bunch of butterflies, it's the same kind of feeling when I eat a soft, warm cinnamon bun fresh out of the oven after a day of training. The feeling of pure happiness and euph…euphor…Euphoria, I believe it's how you say it, I really need to get back to reading. After sitting on another log that was lying on its side, right next to Shino on his left with Kiba on Shino's left, I decided to be brave and look at Kurenai sensei to show her proper respect and attention, Something told me she was a strict type of teacher when she needs to be. Looking up after a short hesitation, I finally look at our sensei with my back straightened and sitting properly. Kurenai, seeing me shift a little, looks at me in slight concern, "Are you alright?" She asked.
Damn it, damn it, damn it, damn it, why does she have to look at me! Holy log, give me a damn break, she's my sensei for Kami's sake. "Y-yes I'm fine," I said with a forced smile. The concern on Kurenai's face didn't go away as she started, "Ok, I'll go first for our introductions. My name is Kureani Yuhi, Jonin of Konoha. I am currently 19 and my birthday is June 11th. I like flowers, especially roses, my dislikes are those who do not respect kunoichi and don't see us as capable and strong. My goal is, well, I guess to see you three become chunin. Now, um, you may go." She said in an upbeat tone as she pointed to me. My once somewhat calm heart now sped back up to a speed similar to my 128-palm attack. With another breath and a small blush on my face, I started, "M-my name is Hinata Hyuuga. I am currently 12 and my birthday is December 27th. I like flower pressing and gardening, and my dislikes are those who unfairly harm others and tyrants. My goal right now is to grow stronger so I can eventually unite my clan under one house.
After I finished, I heard Kiba go with his boisterous attitude and promptly remind Kurenai sensei that she forgot to mention Akamaru. I didn't hear it as I was busy trying to calm down my rushing river of emotions and I found myself distracted again. What is distracting me this time you may ask? Well, the fact that for the whole time, we have been here, which has only been around 5 minutes, Kurenai sensei has been sitting with her legs crossed in a relaxed position. From my perspective, all I can see are the strong, toned muscles of her long legs and thighs as she sat with her left leg over the right showcasing a bit more upper leg which very nearly made my face erupt into red, similar to her red painted nails on her hands and toes. Still in a daze and completely blocking out Kiba's antics, I stared up at Kurenai's stunning face as she leaned back slightly on her hands while looking at Kiba with a small smile on her beautiful face. My insides grew hot as I glanced at her dark red eyes that reminded me of cherries on top of a vanilla cake with white frosting. Enchanting as a red cherry blossom tree surrounded by snow. Surely, this woman would do what my asshole of a father has failed to do, she will kill me, but with her, she will do it without doing anything. She is the embodiment of the phrase drop - drop-dead gorgeous.
Once again, Shino touched my shoulder as I got back out of my daze. "Are you sure you are OK?" Asked Shino as Kiba and Kurenai sensei looked at me again, only with more concern than before. I take a few deep breaths, "I am, I just have a lot on my mind, I just need to get some rest, I'm sorry to worry you all." I said trying to calm my raging feelings. "I see, Well since we have introduced ourselves, be here tomorrow for our first day of training, and Hinata Chan, please get some rest, you all will need it for tomorrow," Kurenai said with a small smirk on her face. I nodded as we all departed with our goodbyes to go back to our homes for the day, I needed to get my head straight to take on my second challenge for today, my father. These unfamiliar feelings can wait until later.
Hyuuga Compound: Hinata's POV
Arriving into my room, I promptly looked at my clock which showed I had roughly an hour until I had to face my father in front of the clan, for my final test. I'm not nervous, oh no, I am thrilled, I can go all out finally and put an end to this farce. I am the future clan head of the Hyuuga clan and one of the main obstacles to my future goals is the person I will be standing in front of some time from now. All of the years of pain and torture I had to take from this demon will finally be over with him groveling on the ground like he made me do many times. He is long overdue for swift karma, sweet revenge, I can nearly taste it. For the sake of Hanabi, brother Neji, Ko, Hitaru, and all of the clan and mother, who probably was working to at least persuade father while she was alive. After a moment, I decided to start getting ready for the trials and justice to come. Since I was already dressed in a way that was fit for my fighting style, all I needed to do was grab an elastic band to tie up my hair and do some basic stretches.
Hyuuga Compound: Hiashi's POV
"Today is the deciding fate of our clan, my son." "If she can at least perform against you for 5 minutes, she shall be ready for the position and she will only need to mature." Said the old, worn voice of a man that has seen many years. This man had the skin of an elephant and the eyes, although half closed, displayed years of hard-earned wisdom. This is Dagashi Hyuuga, clan elder, and my father. This is a man that I respect highly, but perhaps some of his influence on me has not been for the best. Since Hanabi was born, I have been pressured by him to train Hinata to be the future of our clan. Unfortunately, he didn't quite like the fact that Hinata was not progressing much in the gentle fist, I partially agreed, but I also disagreed because Hinata was only a child, still young for proper molding. However, as clan head, I had no choice but to up her training that she continued to not do well in, and eventually, I had to stop training her as much to focus on Hanabi. To this day, I wonder if that was a wise idea, for a while I believed Hinata was destined to be weak, too weak to be clan head, but I wonder, after seeing the many times her face looked broken. A face that I have seen on some war orphans from the last war. Haunted, shy, and timid. "I understand, I also hope I am not disappointed about her performance, but we shall see in due time," I spoke. "Hataro, Kiyoshi! Gather the clan in the courtyard by 5, we will see the future of our clan either rise or rise." I barked out, ordering the nearby branch members and personal guards.
I did a low bow to my father, showing proper respect, and then got up to leave still in my own musing about the past several years. I had to break Hinata to build her into a strong kunoichi worthy of leadership, I had to take away some of her pleasures and passions. As a daughter of mine, she has no time to play around like a normal child. She has to be molded into a warrior, a leader, no, a great leader, worthy of replacing me. The main house must keep dominance over the slave branch or else our clan would fall into ruin. From what I have seen of Hinata, she is not fit to be a leader, but this day will be the decider. After a bit of walking, I finally reached the door, her door.
Hyuuga Compound: Hinata's POV
Finally finishing up with tying my hair, I heard a knock on my door, seemingly slightly hesitantly, like a softer type of knock than what I am used to. Hanabi, much to my chagrin, openly barges into my room, Brother Neji doesn't speak to me, and Ko typically does a harder knock intended to wake me up out of my deep sleep that I am never in, and that is only during certain occasions. The other person I know to knock on my door with force is my father, who used to be during this time when he used to get me for training. But this felt…different. Moving towards the door, I finally opened it to see who it was. It was him, the man I will embarrass later on. "Hello, you have 1 hour to prepare for the securing of your fate, We shall see where the wind takes us." My father said as he then walked off. Something is not quite right, I do not recall him ever greeting me, he usually jumped straight to the point of the conversation. He also didn't seem to have that same amount of anger or coldness he usually had when seeing me. Well, either way, he has to atone for what he put me through, whether he has had a slight change of heart or not, only 40 more minutes.
For the time being, I went to sit down by my window, looking into the distance of my future, either the worst part of hell I have yet to go through or the best accomplishment I will be making. Without a doubt, I will be winning this, no matter what it takes.
Hyuuga Courtyard: The Battle of Destiny
By some, tradition is seen as old or outdated, better off not being followed. To others, tradition is what keeps everyone together. These perspectives have been at war with one another since the beginning of time, neither winning over the other. On this day, like many other similar days of the past, the battle rages on between two different perspectives. Also as with many other times, those of either side believe their perspective will win over the other, only for both to be canceled out like the other times or perhaps this time may be different. Two sides, two values, two ways of life, the human mind loves to think of things in a binormal fashion, completely missing the bigger picture of the vast world. The many nuances and the greys are all forgotten like a child abandons an old toy as we squabble over our minuscule existence.
The branch house and the main house, are two sides of the same family, split by fear and the lust for power. As it is well known, that power can corrupt, but absolute power can corrupt absolutely, and those who are in power, tend to refuse to give it up. To those who are forward thinking in a backward society, if those who are in influence inevitably refuse to leave their pompous positions, with their noses upturned to those who are have-nots. Take it from their cold, dead hands without mercy. For humans are rarely peaceful creatures, it is a noble wish of us, however, for us, it is, unfortunately, often unattainable to the majority.
Hinata stood, stone-faced with the aura of a veteran who has seen many wars, back erect as a tree that stood the test of time. She stood across from the man who had given her nothing but pain for much of her existence. The kind of pain many of those who are double or triple her age may never go through. The kind of pain that became the richest fertilizer for her inner need of retribution. She was no longer angry, she was no longer resentful, she was at peace for what was to come, all she wanted now was justice. She knows that fate, who seemingly abandoned her for years, is now with her for the future. Hiashi stood across from Hinata also with a stoic face, however, for the keen-eyed watcher, you can tell he was not as determined as his daughter, Hinata. He stood tall, but not exactly proudly, If you are to look into his eyes you will see inner turmoil that is not a common sight on a man of his status.
The main house stood on the side and rear of Hiashi while the side branch stood opposite to the main branch on the rear of HInata. Hanabi was standing alongside Ko directly behind Hiashi while Neji, the famed prodigy of the branch house, stood directly behind Hinata. In the middle of the yin-yang symbol of the Hyuuga courtyard stood two conflicting beliefs and only one of them will be victorious after today. An aged man, the father of Hiashi stood between the two fighters as a mediator, ready to begin the match. He glances at Hiashi, Hiashi nods, and then he glances at Hinata, She also nods in affirmation. He then raises his hand, as Hiashi and Hinata enter their respective fighting stances, for now, Hinata is in the traditional stance. "For our clan, for our glory, BEGIN!" Yelled Dagashi as he walked back to watch the ensuing battle.
Without hesitation, Hinata ran forward, palm at her side ready to strike. Reaching Hiashi who was slightly started by her speed, barely dodges out of the way, while sending his palm towards Hinata. Seeing this, she easily moves and then counters with a combination of 12 palm quick palm strikes moving at a speed that Joinin would struggle to avoid, however, her palms were not channeling chakra. Shocked even further, Hiashi moved as fast as he could, left then right, he moved to avoid the strikes, however, he took at least 4 for his troubles. Growling in frustration at what should have lasted a few seconds, he finally activates his byakugan only to be even more flabbergasted at seeing Hinata's chakra capacity. "What! Impossi-" He tried to say but had to dodge more of HInata's relentless strikes.
Neji stood in absolute awe at the once-deemed 'weakling' putting up such a ferocious fight against the strongest member of their clan when only a few years ago she would have lost pathetically. Hanabi also stood in shock and awe at her sister putting pressure on the clan head, despite what he had done to her for so long. Many of the other members of the clan also stood in awe and excitement at the battle.
With a grunt, Hiashi had to avoid another round of strikes, only getting hit 3 times. "Enough of this, you are within range." He says as he gets into a familiar stance. "8 trigrams, 64 palms!" Hinata, still with a stoic face, uses her acquired flexibility and speed to avoid all of the palm strikes sent her way by Hiashi, to his chagrin. Wanting to get space for her next attack, Hinata channeled chakra to her hands as she said, "8 trigrams, vacuum palms." With that, Hiashi goes flying backward but manages to land gracefully a few meters away. His face showed shock at the attack. Now that Hinata had some space, she closed her eyes, "How many times have you called me weak, father?" Hiashi nearly faltered out of his stance at the unexpected question, "What does that matter, that because I have been going easy on you and you learned a pitiful jutsu, it doesn't change who you are." Said Hiashi, gaining back his stoic face.
With a slight chuckle and her eyes still closed, Hinata continued, "For being the leader in a clan that has eyes that can see all around us, through solid objects, and even to the chakra pathways of a person, you really are one blind bastard." Hiashi, being completely taken aback by this proclamation couldn't form any sentences and stood in silence. "For Kami's sake, am I going to really have to beat it out of you? Finally, I can get you to realize the truth you have been ignoring from the beginning." She continued. "For so long I have been beaten, cursed at, abandoned, thrashed, and hurt, but you still do not see that I am now your equal." You are not my equal, you insolent child!" Hiashi snarled. "Oh, you are right, foolish me." Hinata continued as she opened her eyes which gleamed with an aura of power that radiated with a blue tint. Glaring at an absolutely shocked Hiashi and stunned onlookers at her activated Byakugan no Shiroi Me. "I am the one who is now superior to you, now, bow for me." She said with a sly smirk as she activated the Kami no Kotowari aimed at Hiashi's legs. Hiashi, of all his years, his many battles during the 3rd great shinobi war, and the years of leadership of now the most powerful clan in Konoha, had no choice but to fall to his knees, legs completely numb. With a face displaying shock and a mouth slightly agape, Hiashi was now at the mercy of the one he had scorned for so long. "Now, that's better, You will now understand the truth, you will no longer be blind, Father," Hinata said, with a slight undertone of venom.
