At the incomplete bridge…
The fog was thick as their enemies were there.
Itachi and Sasuke held tight to their weaponry as they prepared for the worst. Sakura was shaking as she knew something worse than what they have fought was coming for them, while Kakashi was as relaxed as he can be. This was when the real battle will begin and where they will need to be at their top strength. The ninja hired by Gato to kill the bridge builder was waiting for them to arrive and they will see to it that the job is done, even if they die trying.
They did not hide, nor tried to disguise themselves, displaying that they knew their battle was inevitable and someone was going to die.
"Momochi Zabuza, though you are a rogue shinobi and placed in the bingo book, we have no quarrel with you nor your partner in crime. We would, however, wish to collect your employer and have him face justice. If you turn away, then no one will be harmed, stay and attempt killing Mr. Tazuna, then there will be spilled blood." Itachi calmly warned as Sakura looked to the elder Uchiha who made such an offer.
Sasuke knows his brother is a pacifist through and through, he would rather not kill or wound when there is an option of peace. But as a shinobi and a champion to their village, he had an obligation to his people and must do what he must do. Itachi's reputation was greatly respected by those he protected as seen as a kindhearted soul with a hope for peace, but it was also feared by those he fought against as they shivered by his very name. Very few dared to face him combat and even fewer stand a chance.
They heard a soft chuckle that turned into a burst of boisterous laughter as it made everyone shiver at his laugh.
He wiped a tear away from his face and let out a humorous sigh.
"And miss the chance to face off against Konoha's finest, the Copycat Ninja, who can copy any move he sees, and the Demon Weasel, who can make any ninja raving mad with just a glance? This would be more than a perfect time to send a message to your village." The man with bandage wrappings on his face scoffed as they knew it was their final answer.
They were separated as Haku fought Sakura and Sasuke while Kakashi and Itachi were forced to fight off Zabuza! He was clever as he knew he had to keep his eyes away from his, he knew how to fight his Sharingan, but not with Kakashi's as he was able to copy every technique. Itachi managed to change his technique and followed his former superior leads. He was good as he was able o match them move for move without looking at Itachi. He was prepared for their arrival and knew what to expect from people who had the eyes and how to avoid it.
Eventually, the tide managed to turn as his beloved fiancé arrived from her well-earned nap.
"I can't believe you guys left without me, believe it!" Naru huffed in childish annoyance that Itachi loved.
It seemed his lover seemed to have her own share of battles. Of course, Gato would send someone to try to hurt the Bridge Builder's family. Luckily, Naru was there to keep them safe and sound. After the battle was over, Itachi will have a few choice words with the man and then make certain he learns the errors of his despicable ways.
"Sorry, beloved. Next time, I will be certain to include you, but we did not wish to disturb your beauty rest." Itachi apologized as Kakashi coughed 'whipped0, not caring about the punishment he would get.
"Dobe." Sasuke scoffed as Haku seemed to be familiar with the girl.
Naru was finally in the fight as Sakura was separated from Sasuke and Naruto, forcing them to fight Haku in an ice dome.
