Leon cursed under his breath as he picked her up and put her in the backseat of the car, making sure that she was turned on her side just in case she started vomiting during the ride so that she didn't end up suffocating. Leon got in the car and immediately called Hunnigan's phone.

"Hello?" Hunnigan answered, her voice heavy with sleep. Hunnigan sincerely hoped that whoever it was that was calling her at almost midnight was either dying or had a very good reason.

"Hey Hunnigan, I need you to call the infirmary and tell them that we're coming. Aliya needs that serum now!" He says, periodically looking back at Aliya, who was now pale, sweat dripping down her face and he may have been imagining it since the car was dark, but her lips appeared blue.

"Alright I'm on it. What's wrong?" Hunnigan asks, more alert now as she heard the urgency in his tone.

"It's Aliya. The viruses are killing her, and they'll succeed if she isn't given that serum."

"Alright, I'll let them know you're on the way."

Leon didn't say anything as he hung up the phone, driving as fast as he could to HQ. Aliya was laying in the back seat, gasping for breath and Leon hoped to God that he would make it in time.

"Fuck, please be alright," he says to himself as he drove faster.

Leon pulled up to HQ and quickly picked Aliya up, who's lips were now blue, and she was desperately trying to catch her breath. Aliya felt like she had a bowling ball sitting on her chest and when he got to the infirmary, Madison and the other doctors wasted no time in taking Aliya from him and bringing her back, forcing him to stay in the waiting area. He honestly felt like the worst pretend dad ever for not seeing the signs and over the last month and a half, the kid had grown on him and now it was his fault that she was on her death bed.

"So, were you just not going to tell me that you were here?"

Leon turned in surprise to see Helena, who was in one of his t-shirts and leggings, having not bothered to get dressed.

"Lena? How'd you get here?" He asks, knowing that she couldn't drive with a broken arm.

"Hunnigan called me, and I had Sherry bring me,"

Helena sat down next to him, putting her head on his shoulder, and rubbing his back with her good arm. She knew that Leon was kicking himself at this point, but neither of them had seen the signs that Aliya hadn't been doing well seeing as Aliya was doing well at hiding it.

"You know this isn't your fault. She kept insisting that she was fine and there's nothing we could have done to prevent this," she says, moving her good hand from his back and moving to rest it on his thigh.

"I know, I just wish that we saw right through her façade."

"I know," she says, "and I commend you for taking your job as pretend dad very seriously," she adds, trying to lighten the mood.

Leon forced out a laugh, "well you're not so bad yourself."

Helena chuckled and gave his thigh a gentle squeeze, hoping that Leon had gotten to Aliya in time to get her the medical attention that she had needed. Helena ended up falling asleep on Leon's shoulder, only for him to nudge her awake as he saw Madison's small frame come into the waiting area.

"How is she?" He asks, both standing hand in hand.

"As soon as she got brought back, she started seizing. We gave her some Ativan and we have her on oxygen just in case she has any more complications with breathing. She became stable as soon as we gave her the serum but I'm going to keep her on the steady stream of Ativan and the oxygen for a little bit just in case."

"Can we see her?"

Madison nodded, "of course, just head straight back and to the left."

Helena and Leon thanked her and walked back to the curtained off area where Aliya now was. Aliya was now wearing a blue gown with an oxygen mask over her nose and mouth and an IV in her hand feeding her a steady course of fluids and Ativan. She was sleeping peacefully under the covers.

Helena approached the sleeping girl and sat next to her bedside, putting one hand on her leg in a comforting manner while Leon brushed a magenta strand of hair out of Aliya's face.

"I'm surprised that she even called me. She's been so mad at me all week," he says, breaking the silence finally.

"That may be true, but she still cares about you. She's just a pre-teen, you know? She's going through puberty and the stage where she thinks she's right about everything and it's also her first time out of that hell hole lab. However, she knows that she needs us," she starts, "and she's closer to you because you're better than me. I'll admit, sometimes I try and distance myself because I get scared."

"Oh? Why?"

"I'm not great with children, especially those on the cusp of becoming teens. When Deborah was reaching her teen years, I almost went to jail on more than one occasion," she starts, taking a deep breath, "and even though I knew that she will most likely be leaving us once this is over, I was still afraid of turning into my father. My dad was a drunk so when he wasn't sober, he was volatile. I couldn't ask a simple question without something being thrown at me or being beat. Suddenly overseeing a child, knowing that they rely on you for protection, it terrified me."

Leon looked at her in surprise. This was the first time that she had gone in depth about her family and her childhood, and hearing what she went through made his blood boil and he was glad that her dad was dead.

"I'm a lot like my father, which is one of the reasons that I was transferred from the CIA. They found my tactics too aggressive."

"You are nothing like your dad. In the month and a half since we have had her with us, you've shown her nothing but acceptance and care towards her. You acted like her mother right away and sometimes I thought she was yours."

Helena smiled faintly, "that means a lot. Especially since I haven't been there mentally."

Leon shrugged, "you've had a rough week," he starts, sitting down in the chair on the other side of the bed.

"I'm going to have Sherry see if she can bring me home to get some clothes for her for when she wakes up." Helena says, starting to get up

"I'll go. You just stay with her."

Helena nodded and sat back down, watching as Leon left the room and closed the curtain behind him. Helena had started drifting off, not realizing how tired she had been, but also wasn't surprised because ever since the incident at C.A.T. Co, she had been plagued by more nightmares. Now, not only did she have the nightmares from Tall Oaks and China, but also from C.A.T. Co and it had been mentally taxing on her.

Helena was scared awake by hearing a groan from Aliya's bed and she frantically looked around, getting up and leaning over the girl.

Aliya groaned again as her eyes slowly opened.
