Leon got up to the house at the same time as Chris and Jill, all of them having their guns drawn. The first thing they noticed was the front door kicked open; the next thing they noticed was the dog barking frantically from her crate upstairs. After that, they noticed a dead body right next to the doorway of the house. Chris and Jill headed upstairs first to check for Helena and Aliya, letting the dog out while they did, unable to find Helena or Aliya anywhere.
"Upstairs is clear!"
Leon found his way into the kitchen to see that Helena was out cold. Her hands and feet were bound, and she had a cut on her forehead and her nose was broken and bleeding, dripping onto her white tank top. She had a black eye and a split lip to boot. Leon rushed over to her and used his knife to cut the zip ties around her wrists and ankles, the ties causing indentations on them.
"Helena, babe, wake up!" He says frantically, shaking her gently and Helena groaned, her vision blurry as she opened her eyes and looked around the kitchen, confused as to what happened until it all came flooding back to her and she abruptly sat up.
"Aliya!?" She called, standing on shaky legs, and calling out for the teen.
"Helena."
"Aliya?" She called again, stumbling over to the doorway, and looking out it, not listening to Leon as he kept following her and trying to get her to listen.
"Helena." He says again, following her up the stairs as she looked in every room for the teen, the blood from her face dipping onto the hard wood floor. Helena lost her balance as she reached the bedroom and Chris and Jill came out of Aliya's art room, Leon catching her as she fell.
"Helena, she's gone."
Helena finally seemed to hear him and looked up at him. She didn't know why but she was half expecting him to be mad, blaming her for letting her guard down. Instead, he just looked at her with calm blue eyes.
"Helena, what happened?" Chris asks calmly as Leon leads her into the bedroom, helping her sit on the bed. Helena winced and lifted her hands up, putting them around her nose and pushing it back into place. Her whole body hurt from the beating she had endured, but she was grateful it wasn't worse.
"I had fallen asleep after Leon went to work," she starts as Leon got a wet washcloth and started to clean her face up, "I woke up and heard the dog and I got up and then I got jumped. I took down one of them and then more showed up; all I really remember after is Aliya coming home with Trevor_"
"Trevor was with her?" Jill asks abruptly, cutting her off.
"Yeah, I remember them both being there and then it's all a blur," she says, wincing when Leon hit a sore spot.
"How are we going to find her? C.A.T. Co changed where their headquarters was." Leon says as he cleaned Helena's face enough and tossed the bloody rag into the laundry basket.
"Aliya took my wedding ring. All we have to do is wait for her to figure out how to activate the tracker."
"She's smart so it shouldn't take long for her to figure it out but get dressed. We will gather our teams together at your headquarters and come up with a plan."
Helena nodded as Chris and Jill gave her privacy to get dressed and Leon watched as Helena took her tank top off and saw the black and blue bruises on her torso. Leon felt his blood boil, wanting to kill whoever beat the crap out of her and feeling guilt that he hadn't been there.
"You know, you should probably get checked out at the infirmary when we get there," he says, noticing her wince with every breath and movement she took.
"I'll be fine. Right now, the priorities are Aliya and Trevor. I'll get checked out once we get them back," she says, grabbing her gun and putting it in its holster and meeting Chris and Jill downstairs, the four of them heading for HQ.
At some point, Aliya had been drugged by her captors to get her to stop kicking and screaming and she had briefly regained consciousness t being poked and prodded by various scientists before she had lost consciousness again.
When she woke up again, she was in a dark room with a single lamp dimly lit in the corner. She immediately recognized it as the same room she was held in when Chris and Jill found her, figuring they must have moved back to the other facility. She was on a single twin bed with a thin sheet, and she was still wearing her blood-stained clothes, the blood on her legs now dry. In another bed was Trevor, still unconscious and sporting a goose egg on his forehead.
"Psst, Trevor." She says, unsure if anyone had them under surveillance, "Trevor!" She says aggressively, taking her flip flop off and chucking it at him. That woke Trevor up alright and almost jumped out of the bed at the assault.
"What the hell was that for!?"
"Just making sure that you're alive," she says, getting up and collecting her pink flip flop and putting it back on.
"Where are we!? What happened!?" he asks, beginning to panic as he looked around the dimly lit room. Aliya was about to speak when they heard the door unlock and a woman that looked a lot like Aliya with dark hair and a fair complexion wearing a tight navy-blue dress and black heels came in with two guards.
"Oh, my sweet Daisy. You've grown so much in this past year."
Aliya looked at her confused, "what?"
"Those people who stole you from us didn't tell you? Your birth name is Daisy," she says, chuckling as Aliya's nose scrunched up in disgust. The woman's heels clicked on the tile floor as she approached her, who backed away and looked down at her feet, "Cat got your tongue?"
"My name is Aliya," she says, her voice barely above a whisper.
"These people changed your name?"
"I chose it myself."
"I see," The woman says, clicking her tongue, "where are my manners. I'm Natalia sweetheart, your mother. Now come give me a hug."
Aliya backed away, "you're not my mother."
"Sweetheart, I gave birth to you. Of course, I am you don't really want to stay with those two agents, do you? They don't know you like I do."
"Leon and Helena have treated me more like their kid in this past year than you ever have. They don't lock me in my room, they don't use me as a science experiment injecting all these viruses into me. They let me celebrate holidays and birthdays. Should I go on or do you finally understand that you're a shitty mom?" Aliya asks, not expecting Natalia to slap her across the face with enough force to knock her down, cutting her face with the ring in her hand.
Natalia approached as Aliya got up, the cut on her face already healed, Trevor's eyes widening at the sight as Natalia raised her hand to strike again.
"Leave her alone." Trevor says, finally finding his voice and making Natalia turn her attention to him.
"You must be Trevor. Your father told me all about you and your mother."
"You knew my father?"
"Indeed, I did. Your father worked for me here and I'm so sorry your friend here hasn't told you the truth about your fathers' death." Natalia says, turning her blue eyes back to Aliya, who was looking down at her feet again.
"Aliya, what is she talking about?" Trevor asks, looking at his friend, who slowly turned to look at him, tears beginning to fall.
"Trevor, I_"
"Tell me."
Aliya gulped, "Leon killed him. He and Helena broke in to steal files and your dad got caught up in it."
Trevor looked down, trying to process what Aliya had just told him and he seemed to go through the five stages of grief all within a matter of minutes. First, he started crying, then he started yelling and throwing things.
"How could you!? I thought you were my friend!"
"I am, Trevor! I was forced not to tell!" She says, going to hug him, only for him to push her to the ground.
"Don't touch me!"
"We'll leave you two alone to talk things out." Natalia says, leaving with the two guards and locking the door behind them.
It was another ten minutes of yelling on Trevor's part, but it was another three hours before he had calmed down enough to be quiet and the two sat on their respective beds. Trevor had his hands in his lap, his head against the wall and looking up at the ceiling while Aliya had her knees pulled up to her chest, staring straight ahead.
"So," Trevor starts, finally calm enough to speak, "science experiment huh?"
Aliya laughed, "yeah I'm a freak of nature."
Trevor laughed as well, "you're not a freak. I think it's kind of cool."
"What? You think it's cool that I have two zombie viruses inside me? You think it's cool that I need this thing to keep me alive?" She asks, turning so he could see the Dexcom like device on the back of her arm, "you're not scared that I'm not normal?"
Trevor shrugged, "normal is overrated anyway. So, Leon and Helena aren't your parents?"
Aliya shook her head, "nope. They're government agents protecting me."
Trevor nodded and the two awkwardly went into silence again until Aliya was comfortable enough to speak again.
"Leon didn't want to kill your dad. He told me that I couldn't say anything because you wouldn't understand. I also thought you wouldn't be my friend anymore."
"Just because our parents do shitty things doesn't mean we ourselves are shitty. It also doesn't mean that we can't be friends…I don't understand, but I'll need time to, you know, get over it."
Aliya nodded in understanding, glad that Trevor still wanted to be her friend. Now they could focus on trying to get out of the facility. Aliya reached into her back pocket and grabbed the wedding ring that she took from Helena.
"What's that?" Trevor asks, raising an eyebrow.
"It's Helena's wedding ring. A tracker is built into it, I just need to figure out how to use it."
"So, are they actually married?"
"No. They are dating but that didn't start until after I started living with them."
Aliya ran a finger over the silver band and the two diamonds on either side of the bigger diamond in the middle. Aliya pressed in on the diamond in the middle, the ring emitting several beeps.
"Bingo."
At DSO, Hunnigan's computer flashed, and Aliya's coordinates popped up on the screen.
"We found her!"
"Alright, let's go get her."
