Dear Diary: Trauma We Must Overcome
Disclaimer: I don't own Inuyasha
A/N: I meant to go back and add a color in the first part but seems I forgot but the color is light-blue, and the power is healer. Just pretend I didn't forget to put it in lol.
Story Summary: Kagome and Sango move into the castle, however, not all is well as they try to overcome their past but try to move on and have an actual life that both Inuyasha and Miroku beg them both to have. For Kagome and Sango, though, it's hard for them to shake off the way they've grew up for most of their lives. Inuyasha and Miroku, through understanding and semi patients, slowly break them out of their shells and show them how life can actually be.
As they drove away from the orphanage, Sango looked over at Kagome and saw her stare blankly out the window. Kagome usually was the one that always tried to see the bright side of things, she was the one that kept her out of the darkness, if it wasn't for Kagome she would have perished a long time ago. Seeing her like she was now scared the life out of her, she felt like Mrs. Ito and Naraku both had finally broke her - which is something she wished to never happen. Sliding over closer to her sister, Sango handed Kagome a notebook thankfully breaking her out of her dead stare.
"I was able to go to our room and grab a few things, so I grabbed your diary and a few other things." Sango said as she watched as Kagome ran her fingers over the cover of the notebook, the same blank look came back draining the life out of Kagome's eyes causing Sango's heart to both sink and crack into pieces. She snuck a peek at the prince and saw him looking at Kagome as well with a concerned look on his face like somehow, he knew that this wasn't how she was supposed to be.
"Thanks." Sango heard the meek voice that didn't belong to her sister making her snap her head back towards Kagome to see her looking at her with just the slightest light in her eyes before it died down and she turned her head to look back out the window.
Sango placed her hand on Kagome's shoulder making her sister turn to look at her. Trying her best to ignore the look in her eyes she whispered, "wherever you go, I go. If you're ready to go, then I'm ready to go - just say the word." She watched as a slim amount of light came back into Kagome's eyes. She could tell that her sister was fighting a hard battle inside of her, she wished she could help but she knew Kagome had to overcome this trauma on her own, all she could do was be there for her and hope that she came out the victor. She sighed as she looked down at her lap, fiddling her thumbs together, she knew she, herself, had trauma she had to overcome herself - not only with how she was treated not only with how Mrs. Ito treated her but also how Mr. Ito had treated her, there was a reason that the punishments never went overboard. She wasn't ready to dive into that just yet though.
"What?" Inuyasha whispered, not catching the girl's attention, then turning his head to look at Miroku noticing that he also was looking at the girls with concern. He then turned his attention back to Kagome and noticed that she wasn't sitting completely against the seat of the car and that she winced every time they went over a bump or a pothole. His eyes focused on the huge bruise that marred the right side of her face that made her face swollen to the point of her right eye being swollen shut. His eyes trailed down to her neck where he seen a bruise that encircled her neck and had to stop the urge to growl like a damn dog as his eyes left her neck to go to the only other expose skin on her which was her arms, he saw them all cut up and bruised. He knew that she needed medical attention as soon as possible, so knocking on the window that separated the driver side from the people in the back.
"Go to the hospital." Inuyasha simply said before pushing the button for the black window to go back up separating them once again and turning his attention back toward the young woman sitting across from him. He watched as she let out a small sigh and open the cover of the notebook and run her fingers down the first page as tears came down her face. She then turned the page and Inuyasha watched as rage burned into her eyes, the first real emotion he saw in her eyes since meeting her, as she ripped the page out before crumpling it into a ball before sighing as she uncrumpled it and smooth it out as well as she could before placing it back into the book in a way that a blank page stared up at her. He watched as she thumped her pen a couple of times against the page before sighing and closing the book before replacing the pen back into the spiral of the notebook then, surprising him completely, she looked up at him with lifelessness in her eyes once again.
"Why are we going to the hospital?" Kagome asked Inuyasha with the same lifelessness in her voice, the combination of the two made a shiver crawl up his spine - and not in a good way either.
"Um," he said as he cleared his throat and shaking off the uncomfortable feeling, "b-because we have to get you checked out to make sure your cheek isn't broken or nothing else." Inuyasha explained and saw something akin to panic flash in her eyes.
Kagome's good eye widened as her heartrate began to pick up, what if they saw her mark and did something to her. "Oh, um, n-no you don't have to go through all that trouble just for me, please I don't need to go. I-I'm okay."
"Oh, it's not a problem, dear." Inuyasha's mother said with a kind smile.
"Yeah, better to get you checked out, you look a little pale." Inuyasha's father mentioned.
"B-but-" Kagome stammered as she tried to figure out a way out of going to the hospital.
"No but's, you are going!" Inuyasha said leaving no room to argue.
Kagome sighed but didn't say anything as she stared down at her lap and fiddled with the edge of her shirt. She was scared and really didn't want to go but knew better than to deny the wishes of people that were above her.
About an hour and a half later they arrived at the hospital, Kagome got out of the limo and tried to walk toward the entrance by herself but had lost to much blood making her dizzy and unbalanced on her feet as she began to fall, she closed her eyes expecting to hit the ground, but someone had caught her before she could.
"Thanks." Kagome muttered as Inuyasha helped her walking into the hospital.
Once inside, Inuyasha sat Kagome down in a chair and went to check her in.
"What seems to be the problem?" The receptionist asked not looking up for her computer.
"I'm here to check my soon to be mate in, she's severely hurt." Inuyasha explained.
"Okay, what's her name?"
"Kagome Higurashi." Inuyasha answered.
"What's her age?"
"Um, I'm not sure, we've only met today." Inuyasha said sheepishly as he scratched the back of his head.
"Okay, what's the color of her mark?" The receptionist asked before flinching at the growl like sound that escaped the man's mouth. She looked up and flinched again when she saw who was sitting in front of her. "Oh, my prince, I'm sorry for my rudeness!" She said as she stood from her chair and bowed deeply to Inuyasha.
"Never mind that, it doesn't matter what the color of her mark is, you will get her back to a room right now!" Inuyasha demanded.
"But we need to know the color for our records." The receptionist insisted.
"You don't need to know jack shit! The only thing you need to worry about is getting my mate back in a room right the fuck now!" Inuyasha argued knowing that if they knew her color, she wouldn't get the care that she needed.
"I'm sorry, my prince, but I'm afraid I must know so we can get her registered."
Sighing in anger while shooting the receptionist with a warning scowl he answered. "She's a yellow but I swear to all that is holy that if she doesn't get the care that she needs right now I will burn this hospital down to the ground!"
After the questioning was done, they promptly got Kagome into a room and told her to change into a hospital gown before leaving giving her privacy to change.
Kagome looked around the room, trying to think of a way to keep her mark hidden she looked towards the sink that had a jar on the counter that was full of Band-Aids that looked to be big enough to cover her mark. Walking toward the jar and snatching a Band-Aid out of it before quickly placing it over her mark as she prayed silently to herself that the doctor and nurses didn't take it off, she then got to work taking off her clothes to put the hospital gown on.
About five minutes later the doctor came into the room to ask the standardized questions and to do his examination. She really didn't want to mention it, but both her lady part and her back side were seriously hurting her, and she believed they were both still bleeding from the attack. So, begrudgingly she told the doctor about the rape and told him that she was really hurting down there and watched as the doctor made notes in his clip board.
"Anything else hurting you?" The doctor asked.
"Yes, my side." Kagome answered pointing to her right side. "And it hurts to breathe."
The doctor made more notes before putting the clip board down and walking over to do the exam. He lifted her arms to expect the cuts that littered her arms, making mental notes that some of them needed stitches. Before looking at her face, gently brushing his fingers across the nasty bruise that was on her right cheek, making her wince and pull away from him.
"Can you stand up?" The doctor asked.
Kagome nodded before standing up, not without a wince the doctor noticed, letting the doctor lift her hospital gown watching as his eyes went wide.
"Oh, you have some nasty bruises here." He muttered mostly to himself before lowering her gown back in place before writing something down on his clipboard. "We are going to need to stitch up some of those cuts on your arms, back and legs, we also need to take an x-ray of your face and your side as well as do a rape kit - we can get a female doctor to do that for you if you don't feel comfortable with me doing it, would that be something you would want a female doctor?" He looked up at her to see her nod before writing more down in his clipboard. "Okay, the nurse will be in here soon to stitch those cuts up for you." He said before leaving the room.
Once all the stitches were in place and the x-ray was taken, Kagome sat waiting by herself in the room as she waited for the female doctor to come in to do the exam that was needed. Kagome really wasn't comfortable, even with a woman, with anyone looking and prodding down there but she knew that she needed to do this to make sure everything was okay. As she took a deep breath to calm her raging nerves and pounding heart when there was a knock on the door and a woman walked in, with a warm kind smile, carrying a box of the tools she would need to perform the exam with.
"Hello, my name is Kira, I'll be doing your exam today." Dr. Kira said and watched as Kagome took a nervous swallow then nodded. "I'll try to be a gentle as possible, but it will be uncomfortable and a little painful, for that I'm sorry."
Kagome drew in a shaky breath then released it. "It's okay."
"Okay, I need you to lie down, bend your knees and spread your legs for me please." Kira said.
Kagome did as she was told and after the exam, she was told that she would need stitches in both her lady bits and her back hole. After she was all stitched up, with dissolvable stitches, she was told that they would go get her family and bring them back so they could be here for her. She was just waiting on the x-rays to come back then she'd be able to leave.
The door opened revealing Sango and the others; the moment Sango's eyes met with Kagome's she ran to her sister and threw her arms around her.
"How are you?" Sango asked.
"I'm doing okay, though I feel like the bride of Frankenstein with all these stitches on me." Kagome let a small smile slip on her lips.
Sango took a minute to study her sister and she noticed that her eyes no longer looked dead, there was light in them - though not as much light as Sango was used to seeing but it was a nice start. Hopefully she didn't lose that light like she did earlier, and she vowed to make sure she kept it.
"If you're ready than I'm ready." Sango whispered resting her forehead on Kagome's.
Kagome's smile turned upward just a touch more as she thought she was not going to let Naraku or Mrs. Ito win, she was not going to allow them to steal her light from within. "I'm ready to fight." She answered.
Sango stood straight up again as a smile spread across her face. "Then let's fight." Just as she said that there was a knock on the door before it opened revealing the doctor.
"Well, it looks like your cheek bone and eye socket are broken but they are clean breaks that should heal up nicely on their own. As for your side, you have four ribs that are cracked but none that need surgical attention and should heal on their own as well. You're also severely underweight, so you need to eat nice big meals until you get up to what your normal weight should be. But other than that I think we can get you out of here, what do you think?" The doctor asked.
"That sounds good." Kagome answered.
"Okay, I'll go write a prescription for pain meds and get your discharge papers for you then you'll be all set to leave." The doctor replied before leaving.
About ten minutes later the nurse walked back in handing Kagome her prescription and her discharge papers before saying goodbye and leaving.
-X-
An hour later they pulled up to the castle, got out of the limo before walking inside.
Kagome and Sango stared around the place in awe with their mouths parted and their eyes wide with wonder.
"Kagome you'll be my personal maid and will be staying in the room across from mine and Sango you'll be Miroku's personal maid and will be staying in a room close to his as well." Inuyasha explained while walking ahead of them. He really wanted Kagome to stay in his room with him but was worried that she'd be pushed past her limit if he even suggested that. "So, if you'd follow me Kagome and Sango follow Miroku we'll show you to your rooms."
Kagome and Sango shared a look of shock before Kagome turned back to look at Inuyasha. "Wait, Sango and I aren't sharing a room?"
"We like to have our personal maids close by use in case we need something right then and there and don't have time to wait for you to get to us from the maids courters." Miroku explained. "But don't worry, you won't be that far from each other you can see each other any time you want."
Sighing but knowing better to deny anyone that was above them both girls followed their respective man to their new rooms.
"Here's your room, Kagome I want you to relax for a week or two or until you feel better, then you can start working." Inuyasha said then left the room saying something about him having to get some work done.
Kagome looked around the room in awe, this room was way bigger than her room back in the orphanage she even had a real bed, it would definitely be something that she would need to get used to because she wasn't used to such nice things that she could call hers. She sat down on the bed and ran her hand across the bedding and felt how soft the blanket and sheets were and couldn't stop the smile that spread on her lips. She then sighed and opened up her notebook, took the pen out of the spiral and began writing.
Dear Diary,
You'll never believe this; Sango and I are no longer living in the orphanage! We were saved! I also found my mate, just wait till you hear who it is, it's Prince Inuyasha! Yeah, you heard right, Prince Inuyasha! I can't believe it!
I'm really shocked, at first, I thought that he might reject me but he didn't then I thought that he just wanted me as a slave or a sex slave type thing but that doesn't seem to be the case either.
He's actually treating me in a decent way, he even took me to the hospital and said that I could have a week or two to heal from all my injuries, which are cracked ribs, a broken face and I'm stitched from head to toe like Frankenstein's wife.
He did separate Sango and I which I am not too fond of, but my room is so huge and there's even a bathroom built onto the room with a huge bathtub jacuzzi! I am so excited to try it out, I've never been allowed to use such a nice bathtub! I even have a real bed, not just a cot, and the blankets and sheets on it are so soft I can't help but to keep running my hands against them! I'm not sure if I will be able to get out of bed in the mornings, not that it matters to much since I'm ordered to stay in bed by the prince, but will I be able to? Will I be able to just stay in bed knowing that there is work to be done and that I might get in trouble for not doing it? I know that it most likely wouldn't be a problem here, but I feel like there's someone behind me constantly waiting for me to mess up and not do something right just so they can whip me or punish me somehow. Do you think that feeling ever goes away? The feeling that someone is lurking just behind your back? I hope it does go away, and soon, I don't like this feeling at all.
Anyway, I keep thinking that I'm going to wake up from this dream and be back in the nightmare that was my life, and I'm not holding my breath to hard because he still wants me as a maid, but I do think that he'll be different than what I'm used to. If he was anything like the monsters back at the orphanage, he wouldn't have given me time to heal and rest, so that's something right? It's really strange and makes me feel weird, I'm just not used to this. I was never allowed time to heal or given a real bed with soft blankets and sheets or a large room with a bathroom attached to it. I don't know how to feel or think about this but hopefully living here in the castle will be better than living in the orphanage.
But back to Prince Inuyasha being my mate, what do you think I should make of that? What if I was wrong and he does want me as a sex slave or a regular slave, but he wants me healed and at my best before he starts ordering me around? What if he does to me what Naraku did? What if he beats me like Mrs. Ito did? What if he kills me?
What if all that happens to Sango? I couldn't live with myself if something happened to her.
But what if he wants me as his actual mate? His equal? His princess or queen or whatever? I don't know how to be any of those and that's just as scary than being used as a punching bag or a sex slave. All I know is how to be a slave nothing else. How would I even begin to learn how to even be a princess or a queen, let alone anyone of authority. What would happen if I can't learn? Would Prince Inuyasha turn his back on me? Would he kick me out of the castle, sending me back to the orphanage - to my old life? I hope not.
And another thing is my mark. What happens when he sees it because it's only a matter of time before he does see it. What will he do to me? Will he kill me? I still don't know what this mark means but it has to mean something, right? I am so confused by all this, by Inuyasha being decent to me, by him potentially wanting to be my mate, by this mark, hell by everything! Right now, I don't know what tomorrow holds for me, and that's scary as well, at least I knew at the orphanage but here is a whole different ballpark, and I don't know what to expect.
I just don't know.
Well, I guess that's all for now.
Kagome H.
Just as Kagome closed her notebook and placed the pen back in the spiral there was a knock on the door. She placed the notebook under her mattress then got up to answer her door. Once the door opened Kagome saw an older woman, that she knew that the woman worked as the head cook and that her color was yellow - in fact all that maids and cooks that worked in the castle were yellows but the little that Kagome saw the maids and cooks were treated very well here, holding a tray with a covered plate and a glass of water.
"Um, i-is that for me?" Kagome asked as her stomach growled and her mouth water at the thought of food.
"Yes, dear." The old woman chuckled as she passed by her to place the tray on the little table that was in the room.
Kagome follow and as she watched the old woman lift the lid, she half expected to see a bowl of cold gruel, which is all her and Sango were allowed to eat at the orphanage, but instead saw a nice juicy steak with a baked potato with all the works, a side salad and a big piece of brownie for dessert. Her jaw dropped, "um, i-is this really for me?" She whispered.
"Yes, dear, The Prince was very adamant that you were to eat all of it to get your weight back up."
"Oh, thank you, um?" Kagome paused.
"Miss. Ida but everyone calls me Kaede." Kaede smiled.
"Thank you Kaede." Kagome said as she bowed her head in respect.
"You're welcome, dear." Kaede said as she left the room.
Kagome looked back at the plate, her tummy did another rumble and her mouth watered as she sat down in the chair that sat in front of the table and grabbed the knife and fork before digging in. Before she knew it the food was all gone, and Kagome sat back feeling full for the first time in years, she sat back patting her full tummy before walking to the bathroom to use it then lying down on the bed wrapping her up in a burrito blanket before closing her eyes to take a nap.
*A Week Later*
This past week Kagome and Sango tried to get used to their new lives, but they were still very confused as to why they were being treated so well, even Sango though she was still a maid Miroku treated her so well by making sure she didn't overwork herself; she took the appropriate breaks and that she was just taking care of herself generally.
Kagome was still healing and even though she begged Inuyasha would not let her do any type of cleaning or work. By this point Kagome was feeling a lot better, though her side still hurt it didn't hurt like it did before now it was like a dull ache, the bruise was now a light-yellow splotch instead of angry purple and black - the same with her eye and cheek. Inuyasha told her she was not allowed to work until the bruises and pain were completely gone.
During their week stay there, Kagome and Sango met the head guard team that would be their main guards at all times. Kagome's main guard was named Jakotsu, his color was pink - which kind of scared her at first because it was the same color as Naraku and Mrs. Ito but as time went on, she felt like they had a bond, and seeing that he was gay, she could see they would be the best of 'girlfriends' soon. Her secondary guard, for when Jakotsu was on break or had the day off, was a man named Suikotsu. He seemed like a nice man, his color was light blue which was the color of healers, she felt like they could be friends as well. Her third and final guard was named Renkotsu, his color was red, though he was nice to her it seemed forced she didn't feel like they could be friends and he kind of gave her the creeps just a little, but she was pleasant with him and didn't cause any ruckus when he was her guard the rare times that Jakotsu and Suikotsu were not able - which wasn't very often thank goodness.
Sango's main guard was Bankotsu, his color was grey, he loved being able to control the weather - he perfected his attacks which he called Dragon Thunder - which is him brewing up a thunderstorm and making a series of lightning rain down, though he couldn't control where the strikes landed just yet. The second attack that he loved was called Dragon Hammer - which is about four or five thick waves of lightning coming from the sky and striking their target, he was able to control this one a lot more than the Dragon Thunder. He was very nice and was already on good terms with both Sango and Kagome whenever Kagome visited with Sango. Her secondary guard was Mukotsu, his color was white, but he modified his abilities and now he was able to put doses of poison with his wind power. Her third guard was Ginkotsu, his color was green which he was able to modify his as well and now was able to bend metal.
Kagome stretched, not without a small wince, sighed then stood up from her bed disappearing into the bathroom for a short time to use the bathroom, give herself a sponge bath - which she hated, she couldn't wait to get these stitches off and was happy that she had a follow up appointment tomorrow to see if they can come off - brush her hair and teeth before exiting the bathroom getting dressed for the day then her room.
"Good morning, Miss. Jakotsu." Kagome smiled and curtsey, Jakotsu had shoulder length black hair that he kept in a bun and wore the slightest amount of purple eye shadow on his eyelids with some shiny lip gloss on his lips.
"Ooh, my Lady Kagome!" Jakotsu gushed as he bowed at the waist before grabbing her hand and planting a kiss on her knuckles before standing up straight once again with a smile. It always shocked her that someone that actually has a power would put such a great honorific, or any honorific really, on her name, and no matter how many times she asked all the guards and maids of the castle to call her Kagome it never worked so she just gave up and let them have their way. "I do hope that you slept well last night."
"Aww, Jakotsu." Kagome said with a wide smile. "I did, thank you. How was your night?"
"Oh, it was lovely, I slept like a baby! Dreaming of my darling Inuyasha all night long!" Jakotsu said with a dreamy look on his face.
"I'm sure the prince would love to hear you say that." Kagome said with a giggle knowing how Jakotsu's unwanted attention always got on Inuyasha's nerves. It made for an eventful time when Kagome was bored, she always went to find him with her personal guard in tow knowing that a show was always promised with the two. "Is he in?" She asked tilting her head in the direction of Inuyasha's room.
"No, my Lady, he's in his office with his father going over some things for him to take over the throne when his father is ready to retire." Jakotsu answered.
"Dang, I really needed to talk to him." Kagome said as she bit her bottom lip.
"Say no more, Lady Kagome!" Jakotsu exclaimed in a sing-song voice as he grabbed her hand and ran down the hallway towards Inuyasha office making Kagome laugh. As he turned the corner, he ran head on with Miroku who was walking Sango to come visit Kagome with both their guards right behind them. Bankotsu, Sango's guard, had long black hair that he wore up in a braid and blue eyes. He disguised his laughter with a cough and brought his fist up to his mouth to hide his smile. Koga, Miroku's main guard, had the color white and was able to use his wind power to make himself go incredibly fast. He had long dark brown hair that he kept tied up in a high ponytail and had icy blue eyes, he didn't try to hide his laughter as he doubled down at the waist clutching his sides as he tried to regain his composure.
"Mr. Miroku, who knew that cute little head you have could be so hard?" Jakotsu moaned as he rubbed his head.
"What's the rush?" Miroku asked ignoring the 'cute little head' comment learning a long time ago that asking and threatening him to stop will only make Jakotsu's attraction stronger. That's why he was so obsessed over Inuyasha because Inuyasha doesn't know how to let it go in one ear and out the other and always starts fights over it.
"I needed to speak with Prince Inuyasha and Mr. Jakotsu was very enthusiastic in showing me the way." Kagome giggled.
"Well, I was coming to drop Sango off at your room then head to Inuyasha's office to speak with him as well but since you're heading that way anyway let's all walk together." Miroku said getting up.
They all walked to Inuyasha's office together and Miroku walked right in without knocking as Kagome and Sango followed in after him while the guards all stood on guard outside the room.
Inuyasha and his father looked up from the paperwork they were going over and Inuyasha's eyes grew a little wide in surprise.
"Kagome, what are you doing out of bed?" Inuyasha asked as he stood up and walked around the desk to stand in front of the small group that just walked through the office door.
"Because, my prince, if I stay any longer in that bed, I'm afraid I'll develop bed soars!" Kagome exclaimed while throwing her arms up in the air. "And besides, I'm feeling a whole lot better and came to ask you if I could please get to work?"
"I was just on my way back to my room to take a shower and rest for a bit, I've been in this office half the night and need a break. Kagome, come with me and we'll talk about you working." Inuyasha said as he started walking toward the door.
Kagome's heart stopped for half a second at the thoughts floating through her mind. Is he going to punish me by overstepping? She sighed as she turned on her heal to follow after the prince.
As they started walking down the hall followed by Jakotsu and a tall muscular man that was named Kyokotsu he had the color grey he had dark brown eyes and, strangely enough, green hair - he was Inuyasha's main guard. Inuyasha didn't say anything as they walked, walking into his room, Inuyasha shut the door as Jakotsu and Kyokotsu stayed outside the room.
Kagome watched as Inuyasha gathered up a change of clothes before taking off his watch. "Well?" Kagome asked with a sigh and a roll of her eyes as she watched Inuyasha walk towards his bathroom.
"Well, what?" Inuyasha asked not stopping his way to the bathroom.
"Can I please start working? Please? I am so done with just staying in my room lying in bed!" Kagome begged with another sigh and roll of her eyes.
Sighing and stepping just inside his bathroom, Inuyasha deposited of his clothes on the sink counter before coming back out, stopping just within a breath apart from Kagome. He rested his hand on her hips, secretly enjoying the slight gasp she let slip and barely resisting the urge to place his ear to her chest to see if her heartbeat had accelerated. Sighing the feeling away he moved his thumbs, so they were inside her shirt as he slowly moved his hands upward taking her shirt with them.
"M-my prince, w-what are you doing?" Kagome shakily whispered as her breath hitched in her throat as her heart hammered a permanent tattoo against her rib cage, which surprised her when she found the rapid beating was from anticipation and not fear - she wanted him to see her, all of her. Swallowing the needy whimper from escaping past her lips she silently cursed the fact that they were mates and that's what made her feel this way. Nonetheless, she didn't stop him from nearly taking her shirt off.
Inuyasha stopped his hands just below her breasts and tilted his head examining her right side. "Hmm," he hummed, "I think I still see a bruise." He murmured as he ran the tips of his fingers along her rib cage tracing the bruise making Kagome shiver in a way he hoped was out of pleasure. Kicking his lips up in a half smile, Inuyasha let her shirt drop back into place and looked back into her eyes. "Afraid I can't let ya work with that bruise on your side and," he said as he brought up his hand brushing his knuckles along her cheek bone, "the bruise on your face hasn't completely gone away either." Wanting to laugh out loud, Inuyasha was barely able to get away with a mere chuckle at the way Kagome's jaw dropped.
"But" she tried to argue but at that moment, there was a knock on the door before it opened revealing Sango and Miroku.
"What's up Miroku?" Inuyasha asked as if he didn't just fluster the crap out of Kagome.
"I'm afraid I have to pull you away, sir there's pressing matters I need to discuss with you." Miroku answered.
"Can it wait till after my shower?" Inuyasha asked.
"I'm afraid not." Miroku said with a sigh.
"Fine." Inuyasha sighed as he ran his hand through his hair in slight frustration as he took a last longing look towards the bathroom before starting his way to the door following Miroku.
"Now wait a minute!" Kagome burst out not really thinking of the consequences of her outburst. "I want to get to work, and I am ready! I barely hurt at all now! Please just let me work."
"We'll talk more when I come back, so why don't you make yourself comfortable on my bed and I'll be right back." Inuyasha said as he started walking towards the door once again.
"But why do you care!?" Kagome yelled out in frustration. "I'm just a yellow, remember!?"
"The color of your mark doesn't matter, nor does it make you a lesser person than a person who does have a power." Inuyasha answered stopping once again to face Kagome. "You are my mate and that's good enough for me to care so much about you."
"And if I wasn't your mate, you wouldn't give two shits about me! You wouldn't care that I was hurt with broken bones and would make me work with those broken bones!" Kagome accused and watched as Miroku took Sango's elbow in his hand while taking several steps back, though, even that didn't stop her fire from burning.
"You really think so poorly of me to accuse me of mistreating my maids and cooks?" Inuyasha said with something akin to a growl as he took a step towards Kagome.
"What else am I to think?" Kagome asked with a scoff as she took a step back. "Everyone else treats yellows so poorly and with you being a prince you have all the right to treat anyone however way you want to!"
Inuyasha got a predatory look in his eyes making Kagome gulp as he slowly started walking towards her while she took steps back until her back hit the wall behind her. Inuyasha slammed his hand against the wall as he got all close and personal with her, so close that she could feel his breath fan across her face and his body pressed up against her making her heart do double time and her breath to get stuck in her throat - bringing his free hand up to gently grab her chin so she couldn't look away. "Think what you want of me, but don't you ever doubt my feelings for you, I don't give a shit about the color of your mark, I care about you as a person not your mark!" He said before pushing away from her turning to walk out of the room.
"Ooh, that man gets on my nerves!" Kagome said flustered about the attention Inuyasha just gave her. She sat down and was about to cross her arms over her chest, but she felt the ultimate softness of Inuyasha's blanket and sheets - they were even softer than her own. Before she could stop herself, she laid on her side as she ran her hand all over the bed clothes making Sango giggle at her antics.
Kagome shot her head to level a faux glare at Sango but as she was about to say something the door opened revealing a young woman with straight black hair and cold black eyes. "Inu-baby, I know you're mad at me right now but-" She started but stopped as she saw Kagome laying on the bed with a surprised look directed toward her. "Who the hell are you?"
*X*
About halfway towards his office, Inuyasha realized that he had forgotten his phone on his drawer and had to go get it in case of emergency. "Shit, I forgot my phone. You go ahead and go to the office I'll be in there soon." He said as he turned to go back towards his room.
Inuyasha walked past Renkotsu, who was Kagome's guard for the day, nodding in his direction in a hello gesture before opening up his door and stopping in his tracks when he saw who was standing in front of Kagome, who was still sitting on his bed looking up at Kikyo in confusion.
"I said," Kikyo spat nastily as she took another step towards Kagome with her hands balled up in fists, "who the hell are you and why are you in my Inu-baby's bed?"
"Um, I uh." Kagome stuttered as she moved back on the bed and away from the woman coming toward her.
Inuyasha noticed Sango taking a step forward to her sister and Kikyo with anger in her eyes, but he waved her off.
"It doesn't matter to you what her name is, you need to leave and never come back." Inuyasha ordered making both Kikyo and Kagome jump.
"Oh, Inu-baby I didn't see you standing there." Kikyo said with a seductive smile as she walked towards Inuyasha, she got to his side, pressed her body against his and ran her hand down his chest to his toned abdomen.
Kagome couldn't explain the feeling that shot through her that made her want to stand up from the bed, grab a fistful of the woman's hair and rip her away from the prince. 'Get her off of you, Inuyasha!' She gasped at the feeling and the thought and shook her head to get rid of both of them.
Inuyasha scoffed and pushed Kikyo away from him, unknowingly giving Kagome what she wanted - not that he'd deny her that, or anything for that matter. "Get out." He ordered before he moved to walk around her to check on Kagome, but Kikyo blocked his way once again.
"I was thinking that we could go out to a nice restaurant and then the movies, what do you think?" Kikyo asked with the same seductive smile and a twinkle in her eyes, completely ignoring Inuyasha's demand for her to leave.
"Are you deaf? I told you to leave, now leave." Inuyasha snapped stepping towards Kagome.
Seeing his movement toward the unknown girl, Kikyo's seductive look dropped into a scowl. "Who is this girl, Inu-baby?"
"Again, that is none of your concern, now leave before I call my guard in here to forcefully remove you." Inuyasha ordered.
"No, I will not leave!" Kikyo yelled. "Who is this girl? Do you honestly care about her more than me!?"
"I told you before we even started that once I found my mate than you and I are done as per our agreement that you agreed to." Inuyasha said as he moved towards his door before he opened it and whispered to Kyokotsu.
"Mate?" Kikyo whispered as Kyokotsu entered the room and grabbed Kikyo by the crook of her elbow before dragging her out of the room. "You'll regret this, Inuyasha! I don't give up that easily! You will be mine!" Kikyo yelled as she was dragged down the hallway.
"Keh." Inuyasha scoffed before moving closer to Kagome. "Are you okay?" He asked with concern as she was just staring at nothing with her mouth slightly open. Taking a shoulder in his hand, he gave her a slight shake making her shake her head and look at him.
"I'm sorry, what did you say?" Kagome asked.
"I asked if you were okay." Inuyasha repeated sitting down next to her before tucking a stray strand of hair behind her ear secretly relishing in the slight gasp she gave off as his fingers glided across the soft skin of her cheek.
"Um, y-yeah, I'm fine." Kagome said trying her hardest not to move her head closer to the warmth of his hand.
Inuyasha nodded as he stood up to retrieve his phone from on top his dresser.
"Um, who was that?" Kagome whispered while looking at the ground as Miroku walked back into the room after hearing the commotion from down the hall where he waited for Inuyasha.
"Just my ex, no one you need to worry about." Inuyasha answered as he opened his phone to check his email.
"Oh, um, w-what happened? Why did you break up?" Kagome asked, not being able to keep her curiosity under control, as she looked down at the floor.
When Inuyasha didn't answer Kagome looked up at him from under her eyelashes just to see him staring at her with a blank look on his face prompting her to slightly panic and lift her head up fully.
"I-I'm sorry, that's none of my business, I shouldn't have asked." Kagome said in a panic.
"It's okay, you don't have to be afraid to ask me questions. I want you to ask questions, I want you to know everything about me - just like I want to know everything about you." Inuyasha said as he placed his phone back in his pocket then shooting her a meaningful look making her breath get stuck in her throat. "We were never really going out as an 'official' couple, we had a deal that when we needed... attention than the other would be there. I told her that the moment that I found my mate then our arrangement would be over, and she agreed stating that she felt the same way. But, I guess, along the way she caught feelings that I don't and never did reciprocate and the other day we got into an argument where she got all mad because I didn't, and still don't, feel the same way. Anyway, I found you so now Kikyo and my agreement is now terminated because I don't want anyone but my mate. She'll just have to get over it."
"But" Kagome whispered as she looked back at the ground, "I'm just a yellow, you should be with someone that has a power. I-I don't want to be the reason that you broke up with someone, I am not good enough for something like that to happen." She felt silly, she just literally met this man, but she found that it hurt a lot when she said that and was surprised as a tear ran down her cheek.
Inuyasha stepped up to her and hooked a finger under her chin to gently raise her head so he could look into her eyes. "I've already told you; I want you as a person not as the color of your mark, I don't give a shit about that kind of crap. I don't want anyone else but you." He said as he moved his hand to brush his fingertips along her cheek bone before grabbing a strand of hair and placing it behind her ear.
"But I don't understand, no one likes yellows, this doesn't make any sense." Kagome said as she stood up and backed away from Inuyasha placing a hand on her racing heart in hopes to calm her nerves from the electric shock that went through her from Inuyasha's touch. She was scared and confused, not only her but Sango as well, no one has ever treated them with so much kindness before - it was new territory for them, and they didn't know quite how to handle the new feelings swirling around their minds and hearts.
"Miss. Kagome, please believe me when I say that we don't harbor the same beliefs of other people. We believe that no matter what a person's color is, whether they have a power or not, here everyone is of importance to us." Miroku told her with a gentle smile.
"Then why is all of your cooks and maids being only yellows and no other color? Why is there no yellow guards or right-hand men? or whatever!" Sango asked crossing her arms over her chest.
"Just because the maids and cooks are yellows doesn't mean that we disrespect them, they are part of our family, and we treat them as such. No one in these castle grounds are mistreated unless they comment treason or another punishable crime, and that goes the same for people with powers as well." Inuyasha explained.
"It still doesn't make any sense to me!" Kagome cried out with tears coming down her cheeks, this was just too much for her, too much change too fast threw her emotions off. "Why would you want someone like me? I'm used and scarred. You deserve much better, please choose someone else, I'm broken - and I don't know if I'll ever be able to be put back together."
"We're all a little broken and scarred, but that doesn't mean that you don't deserve love and happiness, so please let me give that to you." Inuyasha said softly.
"We know you both need time and we are willing to wait for however long it takes for you to be comfortable here, we are moving at both of your paces." Miroku added giving Sango a meaningful look that Kagome didn't miss.
"But you're the prince, how could you be broken and scarred?" Kagome asked.
Inuyasha sighed as he started unbuttoning his shirt making Kagome gasp, blush and look away. "When Miroku and I were younger we were troublemakers and got into a lot of fights, some we won some we lost." He said as he let his shirt fall on the floor revealing his sculpted stomach and chest.
Kagome took a deep breath as she peeked at the corner of her eye toward Inuyasha and almost chock on her spit as her heart got lodged in her throat cutting off her air supply. She practically stood there ogling Inuyasha's rock hard body, not that he minded the desire he saw flashing quickly in her eyes. Kagome shook her head clearing her of the desire that she knew she wasn't allowed to feel, she focused again on Inuyasha's body though this time, she only saw the hundreds of scars that littered his body. Gasping, she felt her feet move without her permission - felt her hand lift up as it traced one of the many scars without her telling it to do so, she felt as Inuyasha shivered right as her finger connected to his skin giving her some courage to walk around him to observe his back seeing that there were scars on his back too - though not as much as his chest and stomach - she reached her hand up again to brush her fingers across a few of the scars on his back eliciting a gasp from the man in front of her. She walked back to his front without lifting her fingers off his flesh as she traced yet another scar on his chest, this one just over his heart.
Inuyasha lifted his hand to place it over Kagome's hand flattening it so her whole hand was pressed against his beating heart. "That one almost killed me." He stated taking in the startled look that flashed across Kagome's face. "This is the one that prompted me to change my life around and take being a prince and future king seriously and leave the fighting and everything else bad behind me. Miroku readily agreed with me and from that day forward I haven't been in another fight again. And luckily from me again, my older half-brother Sesshomaru never did want anything to do with being a king, so by fault the position gets passed down to me." He lifted both of their hands off his chest and placed a chaste kiss at the bend of her wrist, relishing in the way she both gasped and shivered at the act.
"Can you see it now?" Inuyasha whispered placing another kiss on her wrist before releasing Kagome's hand.
"See what?" Kagome whispered as she rubbed the spot where Inuyasha's kiss was placed.
"How my body reacts to you." Inuyasha said keeping his voice low as he lifted his hand up to brush her cheek with his fingertips. "I want you, Kagome and no one else, I really don't care what your color is - please believe me."
Kagome's breath got lodged in her throat once again as she, not fighting the urge this time, leaned into the warmth of his hand.
"We all have trauma that we need to overcome but saying that is a lot easier than doing so." Miroku said as he raised the bottom of his shirt up just a little revealing some of his own scars.
Kagome looked towards Miroku and nodded at his words before looking back at Inuyasha with a slight curl of her lips.
"So," not being able to help or stop herself from poking a little fun, "uh, Inu-baby huh?"
Inuyasha groaned while both Sango and Miroku covered their laughter with snorts and little coughs. "Never, and mean never call me that, ever!" Inuyasha said seriously.
"Never planned too." Kagome snickered but her smile faltered some as she thought about the real color of her mark. She felt bad, Inuyasha has been nothing but truthful and nice towards her and she repays him by lying to him which prompted her to open her mouth and speak her truth no matter the consequences. "You said you don't care about the color of my mark but what if my mark is different than everyone else's, what if it's something new?"
"What do you mean?" Inuyasha asked.
"Kagome, don't." Sango begged as she watched as Kagome lifted her hand to brush the collar of her shirt to the side to show off her mark.
Both Inuyasha and Miroku gasped as they saw the mark that painted over Kagome's skin, Inuyasha stepping forward to run his fingertips along the mark in awe.
"You're the only ones that know, besides Sango, I've been scared to show anyone in fear that they would kill me if they found out. I don't know what it means or its purpose, but no powers had made themselves known yet so maybe it's just another way of saying I don't have any powers, I don't know." Kagome said with a shrug as she let the collar of her shirt fall back into place.
"The chosen one." Inuyasha whispered still staring at the hidden mark as if he could still see it.
"The what?" Kagome and Sango asked at the same time.
"Holy crap." Miroku muttered running his hand through his black hair. "We've found her."
"What's going on?" Kagome asked.
"I've got to go talk with my parents." Inuyasha said finally raising his eyes to look into Kagome's. "I'll be right back. Don't tell anyone else about your mark until I get back." He said before turning on his heal and walking out the door with Miroku following him.
Kagome gaped after him as she tried to process what just happened and what Inuyasha had said she was. "The chosen one? What's that supposed to mean?"
Sango shrugged her shoulders. "I don't know but all this excitement has me exhausted so I think I'm going to go take a shower and take a nap."
Kagome shook her head, clearing out the uncertainty. "Oh, okay, I think I'm going to write in my diary." She said as she hugged Sango goodbye and watched as she left. Kagome followed Sango out the door to go to her own room so she could write. She sat at her desk and began writing.
Dear Diary,
You'll never believe my day I had today, Diary. First Prince Inuyasha refuses to let me work! I'm going crazy being trapped in my room all the time! I can't even walk around without the third degree from him! It's so frustrating, I'm dying of boredom, and he doesn't seem to care! A part of me wonders if he ever intends to let me work or if he's just going to keep me locked in this room forever! Then he goes and puts his hands all over me making me all flustered and my feelings to skyrocket, he's not playing fair. But my oh my, he sure makes my heart race and my palms to feel all sweaty. Why does my body react that way when I don't even know for sure if his intentions are good? Is it just because of that mate bond or is it something more than that? I don't understand how this is all supposed to work or what I should be doing or even how to act. I've never been in this type of situation before and I have no idea what is going on. I'm so confused about all of this, why does he seem so attracted to me? He said that even though I wasn't his mate and if he came across my path that he'd still want me, but I'm not so sure about that - I can't help but to think that it all has to do with the mate bond, I mean why else would he want to be with me?
Second, as Prince Inuyasha left for his meeting, a woman walked in the room thinking that Prince Inuyasha was still in there but quickly noticed that he wasn't and that it was just me and my sister - and guess just where I was sitting, if you guessed his bed, you'd be right! HIS BED! I can't believe that I let myself just casually sit on someone else's bed that I hardly even know! Ugh, I am so embarrassed at myself! But anyway, she started getting mad at me asking who I was and what I was doing there. I was so shocked that I couldn't even speak, thankfully Prince Inuyasha had forgotten his phone and had to come back for it. They got into a little argument which resulted in her being drug out by Prince Inuyasha's guard, though as she was being drug out, she promised that he would be hers. I don't know, a part of me wonders if he'd be better off with her instead of me. However, there's a bigger part that wants him all to myself and I can't explain it - is it because of the mate bond? Or is it deeper? Does the mate bond have anything to do with attraction or feelings? Or is it all just a way to find the one who were most compatible with and then the feeling just come from that? Am I reading too much into this, or am I missing something? I don't know, I am so confused!
Then Prince Inuyasha starts being all touchy again by brushing my check with his fingertips and placing my hair behind my ear. I told him I was confused and that none of this made any sense, how I don't understand why he would even want me considering that I'm a yellow. He convinced me that he doesn't care what my color was and that he only wanted me as a person and not what color of mark I have, can you believe that? This is all so crazy still to me; I told him that I still don't get why he'd want me since a was used and scarred but then he took off his shirt and let me tell you - he is easy on the eyes. I had to force myself not to start drooling at the sight of him but then I saw the hundreds of scars that were all over his body and couldn't help myself as I traced some of them with my fingertip. He explained that he got into a lot of fights when he was younger but a stab to his heart, that almost killed him, helped him change his ways. His words are one thing but the way his body reacted to my touch; you can't fake that - words you can fake but not the way your body reacts to something. Diary, you won't believe what I did next! He's been so honest with me and so nice that I felt bad for keeping my secret. I showed him my mark, oh yeah, I don't know why I did but I felt compelled to, like it was the right thing to do. He called me the chosen one, what does that even mean? He said he had to go speak with his parents about it and to not tell anyone else, not that I was planning on that anyway.
What do you make of all that, Diary? Because I have absolutely no idea what any of this means or how to feel about it all or what to even do! At least at the orphanage I knew what to do, what was expected of me and what would happen on the daily bases, here I'm in the dark and it scares me more than anything.
Well, I guess that's all for now.
Yours Truely,
Kagome H.
*X*
Inuyasha exited the room and looked over at Renkotsu, who was still stationed outside the room. "Where's Jakotsu? I thought he was the one that was on guard today?"
"I sent him on a much-needed break, poor guy looked drained." Renkotsu answered.
"Okay, why did you let Kikyo into the room even knowing that I wasn't even in there?" Inuyasha asked suspicious of Renkotsu's intentions.
"She said she had forgotten something in there and needed to go get it, sir." Renkotsu answered.
"For now on, if Kagome is in there and I am not, no one is allowed to step foot in that room." Inuyasha demanded as he pointed towards his door. "Understood?" The only answer Inuyasha received was a nod from Renkotsu before turning on his heal to follow Miroku down the hall towards his office. Walking away from Renkotsu, he made a mental note to keep a close eye on him - something just wasn't right with him and Inuyasha couldn't shake the feeling.
Maybe I should remove him from Kagome's guard for now, just in case. Inuyasha thought to himself before shaking his head and turning the knob to open the door to his office.
Walking into his office, Inuyasha saw that his mom and dad were already in there waiting for him.
"What's so important that I couldn't take a shower first?" Inuyasha asked as he sat down at one of the seats in the room since his father took the seat at the desk.
"We found more bodies floating down the riverbank early this morning." Miroku answered.
"And let me guess." Inuyasha said letting the sentence open-ended.
"They are all yellows." Miroku confirmed.
"Can you tell were the came from?" Inuyasha asked.
"My guess, from the direction that the river flows, they came from the north-east - from the town we rescued Kagome and Sango from. Or maybe from a different town that's in that direction." Miroku replied.
Inuyasha nodded. "Well, I guess we need to repay a visit to our dear friend Alpha Naraku to ask him more questions - but first I need to tell you something." He said as he faced his parents.
"What is it dear?" Inuyasha's mother asked.
"You remember you saying something about the chosen one?" Inuyasha asked and at the nod of both his parents he continued. "Do you know how to tell if someone is the chosen one?"
"The last chosen one had the mark of all the colors." Inuyasha's father answered.
"All the colors?" Inuyasha whispered. "What does it mean if they can't conjure their powers?"
"Legend says that they should be able to use their powers if they are of pure spirit, meaning if they suffered great trauma then their powers would be locked within them until they overcome whatever it was they've been through." Inuyasha's father answered.
"Trauma? Like what kind of trauma?" Inuyasha asked.
"Trauma like abuse, be it physical, psychological, or sextually - a near death experience or even a death from a very close family member could do it as well." Inuyasha's father listed off.
"How would they be able to unlock their powers?" Inuyasha asked.
"Hmm, I'm not really sure. Maybe some closure would help, if they face the person and asked questions or simply got their revenge?" His father suggested.
"Why all the questions dear?" Inuyasha's mother asked.
"I think Kagome is the new chosen one." Inuyasha answered.
Hope you enjoyed! Until next time, see you soon!
