This chapter is going to be really confusing to anyone who hasn't watched supernatural, sorry. Don't worry, I promise it'll make sense eventually. Content warning for mentions of blood, some suggestive content, and a minor character death. Enjoy!

A single car makes its way down a dark road, only dimly lit by the light of the stars. It's the night of a new moon, and the street cuts through a rather empty area of town, with few streetlights to illuminate the way. The desolation seems especially striking when compared to the rest of the rowdy festivities of the holiday night.

None of this seems to bother the driver of the vehicle, who proceeds to step on the gas as he speeds away from the old metal bridge looming behind him. With his music blasting and the headlights of his car cutting through some of the gloom, he doesn't seem to have a single care in the world.

"It's like I told you, baby, I had to work late," he says, somehow able to hear the person on the other end of the line over the music blaring through his car's speaker. "Yeah, I know, it sucks, I wanted to join you at that party. Sorry, babe."

Something on the side of the road catches his eye, his gaze darting to the side. "Listen, honey, I'll swing by your place, tomorrow, okay?" A brief pause as he waits for the person he's talking to to respond. "Yeah, I love you too. Bye!" He tosses his phone into the cupholder and hits the brakes, pulling his car over onto the shoulder of the road.

A pale figure is lurking in the shadows nearby. "Hey, beautiful," the man calls, barely able to make out the woman's silhouette in the darkness. It's a dark night, but this stretch of the road seems especially gloomy. "Need a ride?"

Maybe it's the night playing tricks on him, but between one blink and the next the girl seems to materialize at his passenger door. "Thank you," she murmurs, her voice barely above a whisper.

Within seconds the car door is closing behind her and she's seated next to him. She makes no move to buckle her seatbelt or adjust the seat, just sits placidly next to him. "A bit of a rebel, huh?" he says with a teasing smile. "I'm Cardin. What's your name?"

She doesn't say anything in response, just smiles back at him. If this seems odd to Cardin, he doesn't show it. "You headed back from a party?" he asks, despite the fact that the area he picked her up from is clearly abandoned. There's not another person around here for miles. "I like your costume," he comments, gesturing to her tattered white dress. "You make a pretty good ghost. Where are you headed, anyway?"

This question finally gets a response. "Take me home," she replies, her tone urgent.

"Sure thing," he says easily, checking the road ahead of him before glancing over at his passenger once more. "Where's your—" He cuts himself off when he feels a cold hand on his chest. She's pressed close to him, one hand on his chest, a wicked smile on her face. "Oh, heck yeah."

With one hand on the wheel, he subtly guides the car once more to the side of the road. She leans over him even further, until their faces are inches apart. He can feel her cool breath on his cheek. "You wouldn't hurt me, would you?"

"Wh—what?" he stammers, his face scrunching up in confusion. "Of course not! What kind of guy do you take me for—"

"Liar!" she shrieks suddenly, cutting him off. "You're just like all the others."

What's that supposed to—ah!" he cries out in pain. Her hand on his chest is no longer just cold, it's freezing. Painfully so. "What the—"

Any other questions he might have had remain unasked, as blood spatters the windshield and his screams shatter the quiet night. Far above, the stars in the night sky continue to glitter coldly.

Sorry Cardin, I don't actually hate you that much but this thought came to me and I felt it fit so rip, we hardly knew ye.
