Hello everybody, I just wanted to say thank you to those that have followed and favorited my story! I hope you're enjoying it, and that you stay with me to the very end. (Though I'm not sure when the end will be or how it will be yet lol)

I have a few ideas on where I want to take this story, so please be patient with me. I came up with this Fanfiction around two scenes I imagined between my pairings, and am looking forwardsto incorporating soon.

For now, each chapter will focus on a different pairing, if you have not already noticed. The different scenes and POV's will still take place within in the same timeline though, so don't worry.

Lastly, a big thank you to projectzer0 for my very first story review! It means a lot to me that you like my story :)

Okay I'm done now lol, so please enjoy Chapter 7 :)

Chapter 7:

Akari held back a sigh of irritation as another Hawks fangirl stopped them for what seemed like the millionth time today. It had been like this for the past couple hours.

The first hour of patrolling had been simple enough, not many people had been walking in the streets early in the morning. So, she had hung back a little to observe as Hawks walked ahead of her while telling her about the route.

"Normally, I would be patrolling this area with Tokoyami, but after I got hurt, he took on patrols alone. He was a great help during those times, and I appreciated it more than I could ever express. But I didn't stay out of Hero duty for too long and was back at work after I was able to remove the oxygen mask." Hawks casually said as they walked and scouted the area.

"A week? Didn't you almost die on top of almost losing your wings entirely?" Akari had shot him an incredulous look.

"Yeah, but the country was going through a crisis. Heroes were retiring left and right, and agencies were closing. If I didn't come back to work, that just meant less heroes out there patrolling or more work for the few remaining ones."

"As amazing as you are, you still needed to give yourself the proper amount of time to recover. You almost died Hawks, you saw colleagues die, and you killed someone even if he was a villain. All that takes a mental toll on a person, regardless of the circumstance."

He didn't turn to look at her, so she never saw the small twitch of his mouth. It was nice to hear some be concerned and understanding towards heroes after everything. The first few weeks after were very hard on them, and it only got worse after the live broadcast he did with Endeavor and Best Jeanist.

"Thank you, Imai-San, but regardless, my recovery would have still been cut short. The Hero Commission needed the top heroes to find Shigaraki and recover all the Villains that escaped from all the prisons" He had sighed quietly but perked up almost immediately. "And anyways, they've grown out enough that I can fly again, and soon enough they will be back to their normal state."

Because of this, Hawks was no longer patrolling, and instead working on bigger cases. So, he decided to give Akari this patrol route and made her Tokoyami's new partner. Hearing that had just left her confused as to why he had chosen to walk the route with her.

He had mentioned that he was able to fly again, so if the best way was to fly, why hadn't they done so? She was sure he had heard her mention that she used her quirk to give her as many advantages as possible in the field, one of which were her wings.

Eventually, as they made their way through the route, she realized the reason behind it. While Hawks had been helping an elderly woman to cross the street, he had sent up a couple feathers to bring down a cat from a tree. At the same time, two kids had run directly into the street to recover their wayward ball without looking.

Before she could even move, two red feathers had shot forward to pull them out of the way. Surprised she had turned to see that his wings had gotten significantly smaller due to him sending several his feathers to help others.

Akari was impressed by the versatility of his quirk, having not realized all of what he could do with it. Immediately she started thinking about designs for a new tattoo that could potentially work in the same way. It would take some time, and several test trials but she was confident she could do it.

Unfortunately, all the activity and engagement from Hawks, had gained the attention of the people. He is a very well-known and popular hero, something that had become a disadvantage during the time that the country had been against heroes.

Thankfully those days seem to have been passing, Akari thought to herself as she watched people coming up to the blonde hero. Hawks was known as a laid back and easy-going guy, but she had noticed a change in him. In recent news, anytime he was photographed or interviewed, it had seemed like he had lost some of that happy spark of his.

Seeing him now, smiling genuinely at his fans, made her chest tighten in a way she couldn't explain. It was endearing to see the pure joy in his face, making the charming hero a bit more attractive to her. At least it was until the fangirls had started a commotion when they spotted him.

The girls irritatingly high-pitched voice grated on her eardrums, shaking her out of her thoughts about the number 2 hero. She almost lost her composure when one practically pushed her out of the way to get to Hawks. Glaring at the schoolgirls who were fawning over the winged hero, Akari couldn't help the feeling of irritation.

Her irritation spiked when she saw how those girls were shamelessly flirting with Hawks despite looking like they were barely 16. Granted, she couldn't exactly blame them, the man was so devastatingly handsome it should have been illegal. Especially when he flashed them his signature smile, the one that was so wide his eyes closed.

Even she hadn't been immune to his good looks. When she first laid eyes on him in the dining area back at the agency, she had to stop the inappropriate thoughts that started filling her mind. She had known he was a very handsome man after seeing him on the news several times over the years, but it was nothing like seeing him in person.

Even the scar that ran down the side of his face did nothing but enhance his pretty boy looks. But he was her boss, and the last thing she needed was to get involved with him. Not to mention the fact that he probably had a different woman in his bed every night. The thought of a Hawks sleeping around irked her more than she cared to admit.

A shadow passed over her, pulling her from her R-rated thoughts about her boss. She tilted her head up to see Tokoyami flying over them.

His quirk had surprised her when he had first joined their patrol after seeing Yaeko off at the hospital. She had originally thought that his quirk would be some type of aviation quirk because of his raven head. Imagine her surprise when a shadow had emerged from his body, partially hiding beneath his cloak. Despite the shock, his hero name Tsukuyomi, had made more sense after seeing the shadow creature.

Akari had been pleasantly surprised to discover that the creature was a complete sweetheart. When Dark shadow had moved out further from Tokoyami, she couldn't resist reaching out to touch him.

The young boy had started to protest but had fallen silent when the creature leaned into her hand. She smiled as she remembered how the shadowy creature had cuddled into her after she had patted him on the head when she met him.

Her smile grew bigger when she saw him wave down at her while he glided through the sky, lightening her mood. Waving back, she briefly wondered if Hawks would let her join the Jet-Black Hero in the sky for the rest of their patrol. It had been a while since she stretched out her wings.

"Inkfinity." At the sound of her Hero name, Akari turned.

It wasn't surprising to see that Hawks was surrounded by even more people than before. He gestured for her to come closer, probably to introduce her to the crowd as he'd done a few times before.

"Who is that Hawks?"

"Is she one of your new sidekicks?"

"I've never seen her before, is she one of the new foreign heroes that have come to Japan?"

The crowd called out questions eagerly the minute the Red-winged hero had called out to her. Most were questions they had already answered, so it was easy to respond without having to think too hard.

"She's covered in tattoos!"

"They look so cool!"

"They look trashy!"

Akari's smile tightened when she heard the last few comments. So far, she hadn't had to deal with any of those, and had become hopeful that she wouldn't. Internally sighing, she forced her smile to stay in place as she started walking over to Hawks. She opened her mouth to speak, when suddenly a large explosion went off half a block down.

Screams from the frightened crowd rang out loudly, while a cloud of dust and debris hid the damage from view. She felt herself being shoved backwards from one of the citizens running away from the scene collided into her shoulder. After steadying herself, she maneuvered her way through the panicked crowd to get closer.

Red feathers were flying around crazily, picking up people that had been hit by the blast and pulling them away from the scene. Akari also found herself helping a few people from getting trampled by the crowd, while trying to avoid getting pushed down herself.

Eventually she made it to where Hawks was now standing, noticing that the dust and debris was finally settling. With the smoke dispersing, she was able to see that the attack had been on the bank. Where the door of the entrance once stood, there was now a crater three times it's size.

Coming out of it was a large figure of a man, or what she assumed to be a man, standing in the middle of the rubble. He had a bull's head, and hooves for feet. He was easily twice the size of Endeavor, and that was saying something considering the Number 1 Pro Hero was huge.

The bull-man creature stepped out into the streets, black eyes focusing on them. The man bared his teeth at them, his tail swishing erratically behind him. As more people ran past them, she realized it was Hawks who the bull-man was focused on.

Looking over at the pro-hero, it dawned on her that the red of his feathers had probably triggered the animal instinct. It seemed like Hawks had come to the same conclusion, because his feathers flew back to hover around him.

"I'll handle him, you focus on securing the scene and double checking there's no one left inside." Hawks said, studying how the villain's eyes were following the movement of his feathers.

The thought of leaving Hawks to deal with the villain alone, didn't sit well with her. The man easily towered over him, and with the loss of feathers, he wouldn't be able to fly. But he was also the number 2 hero in Japan. You couldn't obtain that title with only one cheap trick, and she had to trust he would be able to handle the situation.

"Understood." She moved away from him, getting ready to circle around them to get inside. She hadn't barely moved a couple feet from him, when something shot out from the gaping hole Bull-man had come out of.

"Is that a-?" Before Akari could finish her question, a bigger object soared through the air confirming her suspicions. The object that had originally shot out had been an arm, and the bigger object that followed was the body it belonged to.

Now hanging from the ledge of the second story window from the building across the bank, was a lanky tall man with black hair. In the hand not holding him up, was a duffel bag that no doubt was full of money.

"For fuck's sake, Toro, I said we had to be discreet! No doubt heroes will start swarming the area soon!" The Lanky man snapped. When Toro didn't acknowledge him, he only got even more pissed, his eyes following his for a minute before landing on Hawks and Akari. "Shit."

"Looks like we already have an audience, gentlemen!" A third voice called out.

Coming out from the bank stood a medium height man, with brown hair and indigo blue eyes. He flashed a smile, waving with his free hand. He was also holding a duffel bag full of money. Akari's eyes narrowed as she took in his confident and laid-back posture, knowing without a doubt that he was the one in charge.

"Red." The bull-man's voice was a mix between a growl and a snarl, sounding just as beastly as one would imagine coming from him. His black eyes were still fully focused on Hawks.

"Yeah, Toro, that's Hawks, the red-winged hero." The man's tone was mocking as he stopped just behind the giant's shoulder.

"You don't seem surprised or even worried, I should feel offended." Hawks smiled lazily, hands in his pockets and feathers freezing in midair. He was no longer looking at Toro, but his feathers were still pointed at him.

"We know this is your area, but you're usually out of this district by this time. Seems your wings still aren't up to patrolling at your usual speed huh?"

The dig at his wings made him grit his teeth. He was fully aware that he couldn't fly with his feathers detached as they were. He had a few remaining feathers on his back, but they were so little in number, that the villains couldn't see them. It was the only advantage he had right now.

Toro was the biggest threat of the three, and it would take all the feathers he had to subdue him, and even then, it might not be enough. Had it just been the lanky guy with the elastic quirk and the other guy, he wouldn't have been as concerned.

Despite his internal panic, he remained calm on the outside. He couldn't let these villains see any weakness. Ever since society had turned against the heroes, even low-level villains had started getting cocky. That was why he also insisted his sidekicks patrol in pairs, to avoid situations like this.

Right now, Toro was who he had to focus on, and it would take all the feathers he had to subdue him, and even then, it might not be enough. As it was, he didn't know how well Akari would be able to handle herself in a 2 -1 fight, while also making sure the bull-man didn't get passed him.

The worst part was that they didn't know what last man's quirk was. For all he knew, the two together would be too much for her to handle by herself. But Hawks couldn't worry about that right now.

Thankfully, Tokoyami had passed by just minutes before the explosion. Hawks knew without a doubt that he had to have heard the commotion and called it in before circling back. So, it was only a matter of time before their back-up came.

"You talk big for someone who's hiding behind his beefy partner." Akari called out breezily, shifting closer the slightest bit. "Low-level criminals like you are all the same, cowards."

"You should really teach your sidekicks manners, Hawks. She's playing a dangerous game. Don't bite more than you can chew little girl."" He flashed a taunting smile at Akari, making a muscle in her cheek twitched. It was the only indication that it had irritated her.

"Stop fucking around Kai! Let Toro handle them and let's get the hell out of here before more heroes show up!" The lanky man shouted, eyes darting around nervously as if he expected an army of heroes to show up any second.

"You're so paranoid." Kai sighed but took a step away from the beast. "Have fun big guy, we'll see you after you finish them off." He patted Toro on the arm and started jogging away, not looking back once.

The lanky man also moved, tossing the straps of the duffel bag over his head. But instead of running, his arm shot out again, extending farther than anatomically possible and started swinging away.

Akari made to follow, her eyes following him as he grabbed onto the ledge of another building and repeat the motion. The sight reminded her of a monkey swinging from tree branch to tree branch.

"Inkfinity!" Hawks called out in warning, just before she heard a loud roar.

Turning back, she noticed Toro's focus shifted to her and was now coming after her at full speed. The enraged bull was fast, closing the distance between them in seconds. Barely able to duck out of the way she felt his meaty fist graze the side of her head.

Akari stumbled slightly, but quickly caught herself and prepared herself for his next attack. When he swung a second time, she was prepared, throwing up the shield she manifested from her left hand when she activated her quirk.

The second his beefy fist connected with her iron steel shield; she knew she had to end this fight as quick as possible. He was as strong as he looked, so there was no way she could last in a drawn-out fight against him.

Grunting with the effort of his weight pushing down on her shield, she braced herself before pushing back with all her strength. He must not have been expecting her to be so strong and fell back away from her. But he only stumbled back a few steps before righting himself and attacking her again.

She braced herself for the impact, but it never came. Red feathers flew passed her, catching on the ripped t-shirt Toro was wearing, yanking him further away from her. Grateful for the opening Hawks created for her, she immediately swung her shield in an upwards circular motion at the villain's face.

She was much shorter than him, so it only clipped him in the throat pushing him back further away while he choked from the force of the hit. Not stopping her attack, Akari jumped up, twisting as she did so, to land a roundhouse kick to his face. Landing on the leg that connected with his face, she continued her momentum to land another solid kick to his chest driving him further away from her.

In the second it took for her to straighten, a flash of gold rushed past her towards the staggering beast. Releasing her shield to let it disappear back into her skin, she watched in fascination as Hawks moved so fast, he was a blur. He jumped up high, fist cocked back and aimed for Toro's face.

The force of the punch was so hard, Toro's head flew back, but still wasn't enough to put him down. He only staggered back some more, catching himself before he tripped over the debris from the crumbled wall of the bank.

Akari once more clenched her hand, only this time it was her right hand. The sting from her nails piercing the skin of her tattooed palm, gave way to the tingle that signaled her quirk activating. She didn't look down as the chains of her surujin tattoo come to life and slid down her arm.

It stopped short once it got caught on her wrist where it wrapped around it in a single loop. She held the handle of her weapon loosely in her hand, ready to end this fight. With the ease that came with years of practice, she whipped the chain towards the bull-man, easily wrapping it around his frame.

"I've got him; you go after the other two!" Akari called to Hawks while she tightened her hold on the chain.

"You're not gonna be able to hold him for long." Hawks contradicted, shotting his feathers towards the pissed off beast.

"Have a little more faith in me than that, boss man." She chuckled, feeling the chains pull taut, as Toro righted himself.

The beast of a man started struggling harder, the force pulling her more towards him. Following the length of the chain, his black eyes locked on her holding the other end. His lip curled into a vicious snarl before letting out a loud roar and jerking his whole body back. Realizing what he was doing, Akari let the beast yank her forward, her body flying straight for him.

She knew what his intention was, and twisted her body in midair so her hands were out in front of her. As she closed the distance between them, she prepared herself to make sure he didn't manage to grab her before she made her move.

When his hands came up to catch her, she used her hold on the chain to shift her body and dodge. At the same time, she grabbed onto his horns and pulled his head down at the same time she brought her knee up. She smirked when she felt her knee connect with his snout with the satisfying crunch sound.

Letting go of his now limp body, she kicked off his chest to land next to him as he fell. The body of the large bull-man suddenly deflated to half his size as soon as he hit the ground. Akari chuckled softly as she looked down at the now pathetic form of Toro, tugging her chain loose.

She scanned his entire frame as her chain retracted back into her skin. After a moment of scanning him from head to toe, she noticed something. A small case was sticking out of the pockets of the stretched out baggy cargo pants he wore. Ignoring Hawks approaching form, she bent down to retrieve it.

"That was one hell of a fight, Inkfinity." Hawks whistled.

He had learned about her quirk before starting their patrol, having seen her use it earlier when she showed it to Tokoyami. But he hadn't known what her combat skills were like, so he hadn't expected this tiny woman to take down a beast of a man so easily with the bare minimum of assistance.

"You seem to have underestimated me." She quipped back a little distractedly, opening the little case up. "Though, I guess it was warranted since Mister Toro over here might have been using a quirk enhancer." She held out the case to show him the contents.

"I thought we had cleared all of this crap out when we arrested Overhaul." Hawks muttered taking the case from her and exchanging it for a pair of quirk dampening handcuffs.

"Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't League intercept the convoy escorting Overhaul into custody?" She threw over her shoulder as she dragged the villain's body closer to a light post.

It had been all over the news, the attack that left Chisaki without the use of his arms and the death of the Sand Hero Snatch. The entire convoy had been killed, showing exactly how ruthless the League of Villains was.

"Yeah, but there's no way they could have been able to produce more to sell in the black market this fast. The army never used the darts to enhance their quirks during the raid, nor did they use the quirk-canceling darts on any heroes. Shigaraki only used the quirk-canceling dart on Eraserhead as a last resort." He muttered looking down at the once huge beast, that now looked more like a deflated cow.

"Makes sense that they didn't. It was the ace under their sleeve. No one expected he would use it after his power up. But of course, if he had to, it's logical that he used it on Eraserhead, since he was his biggest threat. Still is, since he still has use of his quirk even if it is limited at the moment." Akari pointed out as she tightened the cuffs on the unconscious man.

"But this is the first time I've seen the drug on the streets since Chisaki was arrested. That means that they might have found a way to produce more of them."

"Wouldn't put it past the League to have found a way to reproduce the serums. Not only would it be a source of income but also a distraction for the heroes. With the rise of criminal activity from the escaped convicts and low-level criminals, heroes will be too busy to look for Shigaraki and the rest of the League."

Hawk's stiffened, as a thought occurred to him. "If Toro had a stash of the quirk enhancers, there's a chance the other two have some too."

"They ran in the direction Tokoyami was going in earlier. No doubt he must have already caught up with them." She stood quickly, leaving the unconscious villain handcuffed to a light post.

"I can call Jeanist to come get us in his car. His area to patrol isn't too far from here." Hawks reached into his jacket pocket for his phone, while jogging in the direction the villains had gone.

"That will take too long, it'll be faster if we fly." Hawks' feathers had already returned to him, and his wings were just as they were this morning.

"I can fly, but my wings aren't strong enough for me to carry you too." He frowned, stopping to turn to her. Aside from the fact that Akari wasn't allowed to go anywhere without an escort, he genuinely didn't want to leave her behind. She chuckled, reaching over her shoulder to touch the tattoo on her back.

"You worry about yourself, boss man."

Once she felt the raised skin on her back, she dug her nail into her shoulder blade. The same sting from the cut gave way to a tingle, right before her wings emerged. They were dark, black with shades of grey, much like her other creations that took on the color of the ink used to tattoo them on her skin.

Her wings stretched to their full length, which was about the same as Hawks' own wings when they were fully grown. As his eyes roamed over them and her, he realized he couldn't take his eyes off her.

He had known she had a tattoo on her back, but he hadn't known what it was. From the moment they had left the agency after seeing her hero suit, he had decided to stay ahead of her. He had wanted to avoid his eyes wandering over her form constantly.

"I didn't know you had wings, little bird." He murmured, unable to tear his eyes off them.

"I mentioned them earlier when I was talking about my quirk with Tokoyami." Akari tilted her head as she watched Hawks face while he admired her wings.

He looked fascinated by them but couldn't understand why. She didn't think her wings were all that, especially compared to his. His quirk was amazing, especially because he could detach his feathers and manipulate them as he wished.

"I must have zoned out or been distracted." Hawks murmured, his golden eyes flickering to her for a moment before going back to her wings. "They're truly beautiful Imai-san, I didn't know the extent of your quirk."

Now she knew he was messing with her. Her wings were dull in comparison to his crimson ones. But she had done her best to picture exactly how she wanted her wings to look like when she had sketched it out. The details were important so that when she manifested them from her skin, they would look real.

Between the combination of her specialized ink and her molecular manipulation, she had made the composition of the wings incredibly strong. They looked soft and inviting which was intentional, but they were rock solid and very sharp. It had been how Akari intended them to be so that they were not only useful for flying, but also for combat.

"Seems like you learn something new every day, boss man." She responded breezily, not wanting to focus too much on the way her boss was looking at her and his words. "Let's go, Tokoyami may need our help."

With a strong flap of her wings, Akari was propelled high into the air. She didn't wait or look back for Hawks, knowing that he would be following right after her. She didn't take off as fast as she usually did, mindful of the fact that he might not be able to fly full speed yet.

A blur of red and gold flew past her, almost throwing her off balance. Looking ahead, she realized she didn't have anything to worry about. Hawks was zooming through the sky, already way ahead of her.

"Come on slow poke!" He called over his shoulder, throwing her his signature smile. She chuckled even though the vortex of air caused by his wings almost thrown her out of the air.

Shaking her head at his antics, she sped up to catch up with him, a smile still playing on her lips.
