Persephone POV
"Harry Potter," Dumbledore announces. my head shoots up, locking eyes with the boy. I nod for him to go.
Standing up, I follow them to the antichamber off the Great Hall. Waiting inside are the other three champions, Cedric Diggory, Fleur Delacour and Viktor Krum.
"What is this little boy doing here," the blonde asks.
I stalk up to her wand in hand. "Listen here, Blondie," I hiss in English. "No one talks to my brother like that. This is your only warning, my family is off limits."
Spinning on my heels, I pull Harry into a hug. "I didn't enter. I swear, I didn't, Sef. I wanted a normal year." He's panicking so much, he switched to Parseltongue.
"It's okay, Harry. I know you didn't, because I know you. We'll get through this together. You have family now, rely on us." Switching back to English, I ask Dumbledore, "Is there any way to remove him from the tournament?"
Barty Crouch, the Head of International Wizards Co-operation, speaks instead, "Mr. Potter entered his own name. The only out is losing his magic."
"And if he didn't enter?" He says the results would be the same. "He won't be doing this alone, then. As his circumstantial guardian, I will be tutoring him. Are there any objections to allowing a FOURTEEN year old outside help, as long as it is by a fellow family member? No, good. Come on, Prongslet, we have a letter to write."
As I leave, Krum asks who we really are. Cedric answers, "The Hero of Hogwarts and his newest protector. Gaunt is an anomaly..."
Exiting the Great Hall, a group of students crowd the Entrance Hall. Hermione, Ginny and Pansy pull Harry into a bone crushing hug, all promising to help him however they can. Theo, Draco and the Weasley boys stand back, showing restraint in their worrying.
"He has to compete, but he has official permission for any family member to help him. Fortunately, they didn't specify relations, so we can all help. Between his foster family, and his chosen brothers and sisters, Harry will survive. Hell, he may even win it."
I sit in the stands, one hand in Pansy's, the other in Draco's. Harry is dodging the dragon well, but his broom is taking longer than calculated to arrive. Sensing something afoot, I pull my wand out, to Accio the broom myself. As the Firebolt reaches my hand, I know there will be hell to pay. A quick Depulso sends the broom into the arena, where Harry grabs it, continuing the original plan.
Marching down to the sidelines, our family follows, eight wands ready to hex the culprit. Yanking the tent open, I level my wand at the closest occupant. "Who put an antimagic field around the arena before my brother went out?" When I don't get an answer, I send a Confringo at the wall. "Want to try again?" The judges point us to the dragon tamers.
Standing in the middle of their group is a familiar redhead. I immediately know these people aren't responsible for the ward. "Hey, Weasley, what's up?"
Charlie looks up, then grins, "Little Gaunt, to what do we owe this pleasure?"
"I'm going to be frank, someone is sabotaging Harry Potter. The judges claim your group were the only ones on the field at the time. I don't think it was you, so see anything weird. Someone sneaking around?"
"Just Mad-Eye talking to Harry beforehand. I think he was trying to give him advice." Thanking him, we walk away.
"No one trust Moody. Something isn't right?" Hermione orders. Like we could trust him after what we just heard.
The Yule Ball was announced today. Immediately after the announcement, Harry asks me to accompany him. "It would be awkward going with a stranger. Plus, Regulus can't get jealous of you dancing with your brother."
"Actually, Harry, Draco already asked me. Can't get jealous of my foster son, either. Theo asked Pan, too. Why not ask Luna, Ginny or Hermione?" I suggest, at his disappointed look.
"Neville likes Ginny, and I'm sure you've noticed Ron's head over heels for Mione, even if he hasn't. I didn't think of Luna, though. She'd be fun to go with. Yeah, I'll go ask her now. Thanks, Sef."
The day of the Ball, comes and goes easily. I danced the night away with my family. After going back to my dorm, I see it was trashed in my absence. Looks like Christmas will be exciting this year. Quickly spelling my room back in order, I sit the locket on my nightstand to remove my dress, falling into bed.
Waking up at dawn, I quickly dress and sit in the common room to wait. Many people attempt to leave, but the door won't appear. Slowly, the common room fills up. Standing up, I slip through the crowd to stand by the fireplace. A loud bang exits my wand, drawing everyone's attention. "Who trashed my room last night?"
"Wouldn't you like to know, Mudblood Bitch," a seventh year remarks. A stinging hex to the jaw silences him.
"I am a Pureblood, descended from Lord Slytherin himself. Come May, I'll be the new House Lady. You lot need to learn respect," I say, seeing my family laughing in amusement. "Now then, you all may leave. Whoever did it, confess to Snape, before I found out who you are." The door appears behind them.
I wake up surrounded by water, Harry fighting his way through Mermen. I quickly cast a Bubble Head Charm, helping Harry with the attackers. Knowing we can't be seen in the murky water, we use spells found in Slytherin's personal library, hidden in the Chamber of Secrets. Many Mermen fall to our wands.
Finally breaking the surface, Delacour stands on the dock crying. Harry and I share a look, diving back in. If they used his sister as a hostage, without consent, then who's to say they didn't with her. My stasis broke midswim, too. Pushing harder, we get back to the village. When Harry grabs the little girl, the Merfolk get ready to attack, but I cover Harry as he swims her to safety.
Getting out of the lake, I don't have to confront the judges about my faulty protection. Five Weasleys stand together with my foster family, laying into them.
"-sephone almost died-" Fred says.
"-because of someone's incompetence." George finishes.
"Ms. Gaunt should have been in stasis until she broke the surface, yet arrived of her own volition wearing a Bubble Head Charm. Whomever cast on her should face charges," Percy Weasley demands.
"I refuse to let this slide. Just wait until my Uncle hears about this," Draco adds.
"Which one," I ask, walking up. "Sirius Black or his werewolf Husband Remus?"
"Either way, they're fucked," Harry says, flatly.
Harry walks down to the maze, escorted by Slytherins and Gryffindors alike. Just before the champions are called to line up, I tell Harry, "Don't be a hero. If something bad happens or feels too wrong, send sparks up, and hollar for me. We'll be there in no time. Even if I have to break a few laws. Good luck, Harry."
An hour into the event, red sparks shoot up. Harry uses a Sonorus charm to yell, "Krum, imperius. Delacour, cruciatus." To anyone else it's a hiss in the wind, but I know. I understand.
Pulling out my copy of the Marauder's Map, I hand it to Fred. "Weasleys, I'm sure you know how to use this. Find Moody and report. House of Black, we have unforgivables flying. Pansy, take Luna to my dorm for pain potions and Veritaserum."
Fred grabs my arm, pointing out a name. Moody's in his office, but the dead Barty Crouch is standing on the field. Looking to where George points, I see Mad-Eye.
A hiss louder than before, "Cup is portkey, compulsion charms."
"Hermione, Ron, go get Dumbledore and McGonagall. Everyone else, discretely surround Moody. Be ready to attack, on que. We have a Code Pink*."
Ron and Hermione go to report the kidnapping.
The twins and Ginny head towards the left of the stadium, leaving me with my fellow snakes. Exiting the crowd, the boys go right, while I head straight up to his back.
Harry pops out of the maze, clenching a yellow shirt; Cedric's body. Signaling the others to stay, I run to Harry, arriving with Dumbledore, McGonagall and a distraught Amos Diggory.
Trying to use the distraction to his advantage, Imposter Moody grabs Harry to lead him away. When they are far enough to prevent collateral damage, I let out a loud hiss, telling Harry to stop moving, and letting the others know to move in.
As one, our group of eleven, including a confused but helpful Neville, descend on the Fake Professor. "Hands off my brother," I demand. The Weasley boys step closer to him, while the four girls surround Harry, separating him from Moody.
"Ms. Gaunt, what is the meaning of this?" McGonagall asks, scandalized. "Getting students to attack a professor is highly inappropriate!"
"So is hiring a dead Death Eater," I shoot back.
"Professor Snape, here's some Veritaserum. You can interrogate him, or we will," Pansy says, thrusting the vial in the Professor's hands. Snape looks taken aback by her attitude, but complies to her demands.
"Get him into the castle. We don't need witnesses." Standing around the chamber off the Great Hall, Amelia Bones pours the whole vial down his throat, forgoing the recommended three drops.
Question after question, Barty Crouch jr doesn't bother to lie about his involvement, given extremely detailed confessions. Madame Bones is putting magical restraints on Crouch, when Minister Fudge leads two dementors in the room.
Realizing he's trying to cover up the corruption, I pull out my wand. Thinking of my late night talks with Regulus, I cast my patronus.
The small eagle is quickly joined by other animals. The twins' hyenas, along with Ron's Terrier run full on at the creatures, while the Hermione's otter, Pansy's dove and my eagle stand guard in front of Crouch.
