A Veela Family

Chapter 2: Home

"Kreacher, when I am gone I need you to make sure to pack all my stuff for me, all of it. I am going to my mate and kit. When I call you, lock down the House with the family magics so that no one can get in and anyone who is already here is kicked out, then come straight to me. If Ron and Hermione come here before I am able to call you then don't tell them anything about where I am or what I am doing, or anything else. Not even if they ask. If they try to destroy anything in the house, stop them. If they try to contact anyone, stop them. But only until I call you, then lock down the house and come to me, okay?" Harry said when he managed to get 5 minutes alone with the elf as they prepared for their heist.

"Yes, Master Harry," Kreacher nodded, a beaming smile on his face.

"Thank you, Kreacher," Harry sighed in relief.

He had the bloody locket in his pocket, and yet he couldn't just get the hell out of there could he. Because Hermione had his hand in her grip and was dragging him through the Ministry, and there were people, Yaxley mostly, following them.

He could feel his magic panicking at the feeling of danger that threatened to overwhelm him.

He needed to get away.

He needed his mate and kit.

He needed to not have Hermione touch him.

He'd had enough.

He yanked his hand out of hers, causing them both to stumble to a stop but he didn't care as his magic flared around him, protecting him from anything and everyone as Hermione and Ron stared at him in shock and anger.

"I knew it. You were having the dreams weren't you?" Hermione yelled, casting a protego around her and Ron to stop the spells from the Death Eaters from getting through.

Though, to be fair, most of the people around them weren't throwing spells, or they were gradually stopping as they watched the scene in shock.

Harry grinned, "Yes, I was. What I want to know, though, is how the fuck you know I am a Veela mate when I haven't mentioned anything about it?"

The gasps in the crowd were almost comical to Harry. Alongside the looks of anger on the two's faces it was great, other than the pain he felt at the confirmation that they did, in fact, know and tried to actively keep him away from his family.

"You know what, don't answer. I am getting the hell out of here, and away from you two," Harry said, his magic winding him, although some of the protection faded as he felt for where his mate and kit were so he could apparate to them.

He didn't see the spell hurtling towards him from Ron's wand as he crashed through the wards of the Ministry and left.

He crashed to his knees on the floor of the entrance hall, the breath knocked out of him for a few seconds and he took some shaky breaths to recover.

"Kreacher," he called quietly, shakily.

He smiled as he felt the family magics locking down the house and kicking out the two he used to call friends who had managed to get back in one piece apparently.

"Harry," a gentle voice said and he looked up to find Draco standing a few metres away, looking rather nervous.

"Kit," Harry breathed, looking at his baby in awe and love.

Draco was there.

His baby was there.

Draco smiled tentatively and knelt in front of Harry.

Harry moved to wrap his baby in his arms but stopped with a gasp of pain, his hand moving to his chest and feeling a warm wetness there as well as a throbbing kind of pain.

He pulled back his hand and it was dripping with blood, his blood. And suddenly it hurt to breathe as his mind's eye finally registered the sight of Ron firing a spell at him before he left the Ministry.

Draco held him as he teetered forwards in shock and pain, struggling to breathe.

"DAD!" Draco yelled in a panic and Harry soon heard two sets of footsteps running through the house to get to them.

Harry just looked up at his baby boy who kept a hand pressed against Harry's growing pool of blood and looked down at Harry with terror in his eyes.

"Harry, mum, you can't leave us, okay. Not now. I need you. We need you. I love you. Please don't leave me," Draco muttered and Harry's heart fluttered at the words, but he could feel himself slipping.

Draco felt it too, because he called for Lucius in a panic again, even though Lucius had just entered the room.

"Harry," Lucius cried at the scene in front of him before running over and kneeling next to his son and mate, "I thought I told you to be careful,"

"I-I… was," Harry choked out as Severus also knelt next to him and pulled out his wand to examine the damage, "R-Ron,"

Harry coughed and he could feel something dribbling out of his mouth.

"Stop talking, Potter," Severus said gently before waving his wand over Harry and started chanting the spell he used to heal Draco.

It was weird, feeling the wound stitch itself back together again, but with each chant it became a little bit easier to breathe, not completely, but it wasn't as difficult, the pain didn't dissipate though. Not really.

When the wound was healed Severus proceeded to gently pour three potions down his throat; a blood replenisher, a pain reliever, and one to heal the damage to his ribs and lung apparently.

"Thank you," Harry said shakily as he tried to sit up again, but he collapsed back into Draco's arms.

Severus nodded in acceptance, "Do you have the horcrux?"

Harry nodded and took the locket out of his pocket and gave it to the dark haired man, he didn't want it anywhere near his baby.

"I have the sword of Gryffindor, behind Albus' portrait, I will keep this somewhere safe until I can come back with the sword to destroy it. I will also keep looking around Hogwarts," Severus said and Harry nodded up at him.

"Maybe the Room of Requirement, when it is in the form of the Room of Hidden Things. It is where I hid your potions book last year. So you can grab that too if you can find it. But that seems like the ideal place to hide one, to me anyway. It is so cluttered in there that it will be rather easy to hide something in there that you want to be kept safe,"

"I will be sure to have a look in there. Maybe get some of the house elves to help me," Severus said, "Lucius, you should probably take Mr Potter to a bed. He needs to rest whilst he recovers, and the floor is no place to do that. I should probably get going before the Carrow's miss me. I'll be back as soon as possible,"

"Thank you, Sev," Lucius breathed and Severus nodded before standing to leave.

Kreacher popped into the hall then and looked at Harry in shock.

"Master Harry, what happened? Are you's okay?" Kreacher asked worriedly.

"I will be, Kreacher. Is everything done?" Harry said, looking at the elf with a gentle smile which didn't seem to fit the picture he made at the moment.

"Yes, Master Harry. House is locked down, no one can get in. Your stuff is all's here, upstairs. Weasel's and Grangy's gone. I also sent all their stuffs away with them so it isn't in the house. And everything is safe,"

"Good. Thank you, Kreacher," Harry said.

"Right, let's get you to bed," Lucius said, lifting Harry gently into his arms, causing the teen to blush even as he snuggled into the warmth of his mate.

It wasn't long before Harry's clothes were being transfigured into comfy pyjamas and he was placed gently in a large bed that was the most comfortable bed he had ever been in.

His mate got in on his left side and his kit climbed in on his right side, snuggling into him and allowing Harry to finally wrap his arms around him.

He fell into a peaceful sleep, wrapped in the arms of his mate and child, and Harry had never been happier than he was in the presence of them and their magics in the air.

When Harry woke again Draco was still in his arms, and he beamed at the presence of his baby boy. His chest was somewhat sore, but he ignored it as he sat up, slowly, trying not to wake Draco, and gently moved Draco so he was holding him like he was the baby he remembered him being in that dream that was too short for Harry's liking.

He needed more time with his kit.

The new position allowed him the time and ability to truly look at his child; awe, love and hope filling him as he looked at his baby who wasn't quite a baby anymore. Unfortunately.

He was beautiful, many of Lucius' features present in their child. But he was softer in the edges than Lucius was, his jaw and cheekbones not as sharp but with a delicate roundness to them. His hair was not as long as Lucius' but was still soft and silky.

The things he didn't like were the bags under his eyes, and the fact that he could feel just how skinny his kit had gotten. But Harry understood lack of sleep and appetite, he just hoped he could help his little one. Because Draco was little, he was about the same height as Harry, 5'5, which is something that Harry hadn't noticed before, but it just made him smile.

He felt the bed dip next to him and turned his head to smile at his mate, who was also smiling at him, though there was concern in his eyes.

"How are you feeling?" Lucius asked, and Harry beamed at him.

"Sore, but otherwise amazing," Harry said, resting his cheek on Draco's soft hair as he looked at his mate, who was beaming at him and their son.

"Do you need any potions or anything?" Lucius said.

"No, I just need you and our baby to be close to me,"

"Okay," Lucius nodded and wrapped his arm around Harry's shoulders, gently tugging him close so as not to disturb Draco, who was still sleeping in Harry's arms.

"What happened, Harry?" Lucius asked after a few minutes in which Harry was just basking in the feeling of the magics, safety, home, and love of his family, and the sight of his kit curled in his arms.

Harry sighed, "I got the locket, and I was planning on getting straight out of there, but Hermione grabbed me and started dragging me through the Ministry. We were being chased, of course, but Yaxley mostly, but also a few others. But I couldn't… my magic was reacting poorly to the situation, I wasn't safe, not with her holding me, and not with everyone around me. So I yanked my arm out of her grip rather forcefully and my magic forced a bloody strong shield around me. Ron and Hermione shielded themselves too and started shouting about me lying to them about my dreams all month. I agreed, asked them how they knew that I was a Veela mate, but told them not to answer and used my magic to find you and Draco. My shield got weaker, though as I was doing so, and Ron shot a curse at me just as I was about to apparate to you. I'm guessing some of it got through the shield and hit me, not all of it, though, or I doubt I would have survived the journey,"

Lucius' arms tightened around him and the hand that was clinging to his t-shirt tightened its grip also at his muttered last words.

Harry looked down to find Draco looking at him with wide, beautiful eyes and he smiled at his kit.

"I'm fine, kit. I'm here," Harry said as he rubbed Draco's arms gently.

"You're really okay with this? With being my…" Draco hesitated and the pain in those pale grey/blue eyes twisted an invisible knife in Harry's heart.

"I am more than okay with it, Draco,"

"But, I was so mean, and…"

"You weren't mean to me, Draco. And I know now that you didn't mean it. You just wanted to be close to me and that was the only way you could be. But it's okay, I understand. And none of that matters now. I just want to get to know the real you, okay. And when all this fighting is over, I want you to be the real you outside also, I want people to see you, not who you have pretended to be to keep yourself and your father safer,"

"And you," Draco muttered, "I did it to keep you safer, too. And you should be able to be yourself, also,"

Harry smiled at the warmth he felt in those words, "I know. And I am very grateful to you, I am sorry I wasn't able to get away from those two long enough to actually talk to you. I felt connected to you, too, you see, and I wanted to talk on a number of occasions, but they kept a tight leash on me. But now we can talk as much as we want. And I will try and be my true self, so long as you try to be yours,"

Draco nodded in acceptance, smiling happily.

"What… What would you like me to call you?" Draco asked, his happiness fading to nervousness again.

"Whatever you are comfortable calling me, Dragon. I don't mind," Harry said gently, kissing Draco's head as gently as he had in the memory of his birth.

"So I… I know it's weird, because you're younger than me and we haven't known each other for long, in this situation… But in all the ways that truly matter, you are my mum, so can I call you mum, even if it might seem weird to people who aren't us? Or I can call you mum when it is just family, then call you Harry around anyone else. Or I can just call you Harry all the time," Draco rambled, looking at his legs which were draped over Harry's, and fiddling with his fingers.

Harry heart fluttered at the words, though.

He had never been so happy before.

It was weird.

But he felt like he could get used to this all encompassing happiness that his family provided him.

Eventually.

"You can call me mum, Draco. I don't mind," Harry breathed, a smile on his face and happy tears in his eyes as Draco sighed in relief.

"Always?" Draco asked.

"Always," Harry said, relishing in the moment even more as Lucius kissed his and Draco's heads and smiled brightly at them both.

He was grateful for this incredibly moment with his new family, because for the first time in, well, his whole life really, he could forget the harsh reality of the life that was occurring outside.

He finally felt like he had found a home, and it was here, with his two most important people.

Hiya, how are you all?

I hope you enjoyed the chapter, it was going to be longer but life is crappy and I am just processing what I can at the moment. Though this chapter isn't too short compared to my average chapter length for my other stories, so, idk. Anyhow, what are you hoping to see in this story? Anything you are thinking will occur? Who do you think Draco's mate will be? Not that they will be revealed for a while yet as I want to spend time on their family dynamics before Harry has to worry about a mate taking his baby from him, ya know. I am thinking of holding a vote, but I need options first, so if there is anyone you would like to see as his mate drop the name in the comments, remember it will either be someone Draco hasn't met yet, or someone younger than him. Or will it, maybe there is something else at play here? Who knows, haha.

I also have a Facebook group called Maraudering_Paige which you are all welcome to join if you want to and are able to. It is where we can talk about Harry Potter, fanfics, life, share memes, and more. It is also where I have an update schedule of sorts and will be keeping you up to date on what I am working on, both with original works, and fanfics (I am writing a novel). So, if you are interested then feel free to join, I am more than happy to accept all of you into the group.

I hope you are having an amazing day!

Kind regards,

Paige xx
