Chapter 20 Odd's One True Love (Rock Bottom)
A.N. – Ok, so this episode title refers to Sam as in the show, even though Odd had tons of girlfriends, Sam was the only one likely that Odd would end up with after graduation. Thought I should clear this up. Let's begin!
Short Summary – When Xana's latest attack causes the ground to cave in, Aelita risks her life to save Sam and Jim.

It has been a week since Aelita saw Yumi and Ulrich's relationship take the first step and she was about to see a second one flourish…she just didn't know it yet. She was informed of the party Yumi was going to be hosting this coming weekend. But for her, the first task was making the Lyoko Warriors deal with Xana.
"So, this time, you're gonna go underground. Cave in certain pathways, but don't take them. Hopefully they'll be smart enough to avoid it. But wait for this. We have too many innocent people around" Aelita informed him.
"Innocents just mean victims to me" Xana replied back.
"The only person who will be victimized here is you if you don't do exactly as I say."
"Fine. I'll wait."
Aelita left after to go watch the warriors.
As Aelita approached her friends, she was just getting there as Yumi was informing the rest of the group. "Hey guys, great news. Tonight, we have the house to ourselves!" She tells everyone.
"So, that party is on?" Aelita asks.
"Yup, and I got everything planned. I even got a real DJ too!" Odd said excitedly.
Since Aelita was on Lyoko during this time, she never knew of this party, and she barely knew of Sam. She knew of her because Odd ended up marrying her in the future. During that time, Sam seemed like a nice person, but Aelita could tell she had a little rebellious side. Aelita was the same way too back in the day. Everyone has a little demon inside.
"Since school's out for the rest of the day, maybe we should relax and race the halls" Ulrich suggests.
"Why are you here A, besides the party?" Odd asks.
"To keep an eye on you. Knowing you three, Jim ain't gonna be happy" Aelita answers.
"If Xana didn't give us so much of a problem, we could all leave for the weekend" Jeremy says.
"You wouldn't leave anyways Jeremy. You find some way to stay behind to materialize Aelita."
"If Xana wasn't hounding us 24/7, I would've materialized her by now. But I think I'm on the right track. If my next couple of calculations all work, Aelita will be here with us within the next few weeks."
Aelita's face was drained of emotion. She had to think of a way to stall her and keep her tied to Xana. She knew her memories were what kept her bonded to Xana before, but how she was supposed to do it this time, was still a mystery.
Everyone except Yumi is in the halls and Odd is broadcasting to Yumi through the phone. Ulrich stands near the double doors with his shoes off. Jeremy imitates a starting gun and Ulrich takes off. He stops at the marker and starts sliding and ends up beating Odd.
"According to this, Ulrich beats Odd by a decent margin" Aelita tells them.
"Well, how's that for a new champion?" Ulrich asks.
"What's all this racket about?" Jim asks as he comes in.
Odd hangs up before Jim can spot him on the phone. "Come on Jim, we're a little bored. There's nothing to do around here" Ulrich pleads with him.
"It's the same thing. Every vacation, you stay behind. If you were to leave, I might get some peace and quiet around here." He then spots Aelita. "And who are you miss?"
"I'm the one keeping an eye on them" Aelita responds.
"Maybe you're the one who can keep them in line. Watch out for them."
"Oh, don't worry. They won't leave my sight."
Jim walks away and Aelita turns back to the group. "You didn't really mean that did you?" Jeremy asks.
"No. Now come on Odd. I want to see you get some revenge."
"You sure you don't want to try. It's really fun" Odd asks.
"No. Back in the day I might have had a daredevil side, but as time went on I kinda slowed down." Aelita was referring to the daredevil side that Odd inspired in her.
Odd then set up and began his turn and he fell while attempting to slide. A picture of a girl fell out and Ulrich picked it up. Aelita caught a glimpse of who was on it.
'That face? I know I saw it somewhere before?' Aelita thinks, not remembering who the female was.
"This your DJ?" Ulrich asks.
"You mean you don't recognize her? She goes to school here. Her name's Samantha" Odd responds.
'That's Sam? Odd's future wife? I never knew her when she was younger' Aelita thought. After this, Odd ran off for some unknown reason.
Aelita was spending time with Ulrich and Jeremy outside, waiting for Xana's attack to begin. After Jeremy beat Ulrich once again in a chess match, they saw Odd being escorted by Jim. They went to investigate what was going on.
"Well, this is one heck of a jam you got into this time Odd. You know stealing school property is strictly against the rules" Jim scolds him.
"Odd stealing? That doesn't sound like him" Aelita says, knowing Odd only gets in trouble when one of his pranks fails.
"Jim" Jeremy goes in. "Odd wouldn't steal from the school. If he needs a computer, I will lend him mine. I've done it a bunch of times. Tell him Odd."
"Yeah, but this time I needed a really powerful laptop" Odd said with no emotion. Aelita could tell he was trying to cover for something or someone.
"Then why didn't you ask to borrow it? That would have been a much smarter idea than trying to steal it" Jim tells him.
"I was afraid you would say no."
"What do you think I am? An idiot!? I wan the truth!" Jim said, now clearly irritated. Odd didn't respond. "You got no defense. This time it's the school disciplinary council and better be packing your bags because this offense is recommendation for expulsion."
At this time, Odd's phone rings and Jim confiscates it. Outside, Aelita can see Xana's specter enter the ground.
"So now it begins" she whispers.
"Okay, tell us what really happened?" Jeremy demands.
"And don't try lying. I sniffed you out like a rat. Unlikely for you, Jim wasn't convinced" Aelita adds.
"Look it's nothing" Odd says as he starts to walk off.
"It's Sam, isn't it?" Aelita says with a smile causing Odd to freeze.
"No, it's-" Odd says before seeing the ground. "Look behind you." They all see what Odd sees. "Xana."
The buildings start to sink into the ground and at the rate they're going, they'll eventually all be submerged. Jeremy phones up Yumi. They run off, except for Odd.
"Look, I can't go with you. Sam is trapped in the science building. So, yes, it was her and I was covering."
"I'll go with Odd. Deactivate the tower. Just in case we get trapped too" Aelita says.
"Why are you coming with me?"
"Because I have something you don't."
Once on the roof of the building they see the first floor completely underground. "So, what's your plan?"
"Really? You should know by now." Aelita activates her Lyoko band and transforms into her fallen angel avatar. "You stay here. I'll fly her to you and then get her to safety. Take her to the factory."
Aelita then activates her bracelet and flies straight for a window. She smashes through and lands gracefully. Her arms ended up getting cut a little bit, but they were scrapes and nothing too deep. She heads down for the basement and tries opening the door and finds out it's locked with a key. She hears Sam from the inside.
"Hello? Who is there?" Sam asks.
"Someone you don't know but I'm here to save you. Stand back!" Aelita says as she charges up her energy orb. She then launches it at the door, and it blasts off its hinges. After the smoke clears, Sam sees Aelita standing above her, holding out a hand. "Pro tip: Never steal from a school that still has staff on duty." Sam grabs her hand and picks her up. "Let's get to the roof." The two race for the roof and Sam sees Odd on the other side. Aelita once again activates her wings and picks up Sam. "Hold on tight!" She flies off to Odd and puts her down.
The two hugged as Odd was happy to see Sam safe and sound. "I so glad you're okay" Odd says.
"Only because your friend here as a literal angel" Sam says.
Aelita knows her avatar represents the dark side that she became after her mistake, but she felt this was a necessary change due to the events that transpired that she has yet to prevent. "You two get to safety. I got one more person to rescue."
"Who?" Odd asks.
"Jim. I know how you feel, but we can't risk Xana killing him if he puts up too much of a resistance on Lyoko." Aelita once again takes flight and heads to the dorms. She smashes into a window and appears in an empty room on the girl's floor. She notices that is what will be her current self's dorm room. "What a coincidence. I ended up in my current self's future room."
She headed down the steps and tried to find Jim's room. As she reached the boys' floor, she heard a squishing sound. She looked down and saw fresh mud rising. She and Jim were going to be encased if she didn't act fast. She knocked on doors as she maneuvered through the mud. Before she knocked on a door she heard Jim crying from the inside.
"Help me! I don't wanna die!" Jim cries from the closet.
Aelita uses all her might to push open the door. She is able to get through. "Jim! Where are you?!"
"I'm here, in the closet!"
Aelita tries to pry it open but is unable to. "Jim, push the doors. On my signal. One, two, three!" Aelita tries to pull as Jim pushes from the inside. The doors open, but the mud has risen up to their necks. Suddenly the mud stops rising, signaling current Aelita has deactivated the tower. Aelita lets out a sigh of relief. "Thanks, Aelita."
A white bubble appears, and time is reset.
Aelita was leading Sam to the library with Odd as well. "Where are we going?" Sam asked, unsure of what was happening.
"Just relax. Nothing will happen" Aelita says.
In the library, Sam sees a laptop already set up. She accesses it and sees all the pre-downloaded music and music mixing programs. "Wow, this is really amazing! Looks like you have some DJ'ing experience yourself."
"Let's just say I opened for a band a couple of times," Aelita says, referring to her opening act gigs with the future Subdigitals. "This just proves you don't need a lot of power to make some really good music."
With this, the two got to work preparing for Yumi's party tonight. Aelita was confused as to what he saw in Sam back in the day but seemed to be a good match for him in the future. The only relationship she had to see now was her current self with Jeremy. Aelita was about to rediscover her first love but seeing rather than experiencing it.
A.N. – I didn't feel like this chapter was going to be long enough, but I wanted the previous one and the next one to be their own separate chapters as they are both major episodes in the show. Next time, Xana shows his true power and Aelita is torn between her loyalty to Xana and the friendship with the group. Who will she choose and how will her choice impact the other?
