Flashback to a few weeks after Billy had joined the farm

Billy was out scouting again. It had been two weeks since he got separated from Alan and the others. This time his scouting led him to the highway. There was a jumbled mess of cars and walkers. He still had the rebar from the plane and drove it into the head of a legless walker on the ground. He hadn't seen many dinosaurs in a few days though. Aside from the triceratops and apatasaurs that liked to graze in the fields at the farm. As he was searching something caught his eye. It was a bright purple bandana. Nima's. There were tire tracks leading into the dirt around the highway from where the dropped bandana was. He had hoped that meant his friends got away but he was also a little concerned they hadn't tried to look for him yet, but he was glad that they were hopefully safe. He also hadn't planned on staying at the farm for more than a few days, but Hershel and his family insisted, and told him he could use the farm as a staging area while he looked for Alan, Gerry and Nima. He was grateful, but also concerned that the longer he stayed there, the harder it would be to track down his friends. Billy was shaken from his thoughts by the unmistakable roar of a T. Rex. Without a further thought, Billy ran back into the woods towards the farm…

(Intro)

Rick is holding a limp and lifeless Carl in his arms as he runs frantically through a large field. Behind him running were Shane and another larger man carrying a gun. The bigger man was running short of breath as he stopped for a minute to rest.

"Hey! You, move shithead!" Shane yelled at the man who stopped to catch his breath.

"How far?! How far?!" Rick asked loudly.

"Another half a mile, that way!" The big man said in between breaths.

"Hershel! Talk to Hershel, He'll help your boy!" he said. The man fell on the ground out of breath.

"I'm sorry," he said with tears in his eyes, feeling devastated that he had shot Carl.

"Come on!" Shane said, picking him up. Rick continued running through the field as fast as he could. After a while, Rick saw a small white house a few yards from him. Maggie and Billy were on the front porch, when Billy spied something with his binoculars.

"What is it?" Maggie asked. Billy simply handed her the binoculars and she saw for her self. She saw Rick running with Carl in his arms.

"Dad!" she called. Maggie and Billy ran back into the house to get Hershel. As Rick was running towards the house, Hershel, Maggie, Beth, Jimmy, Patricia and Billy came out of the house. Jimmy had a bat in his hands.

"Was he bit?" Hershel asked.

"Shot. By your man," Rick said.

"Otis?" Patricia asked.

"He said find Hershel. Is that you?" Rick asked the older looking man.

"Help me! Help my boy!" Rick pleaded.

"Get him inside," Hershel said. The group clamored inside the house frantic to keep Carl alive.

"Patricia, I need my full kit. Maggie, Painkillers, coagulates. Grab everything. Billy, I need clean towels, sheets, alcohol," Hershel instructed. Everyone replied in acknowledgement. Rick was in shock.

"Pillowcase!" Hershel instructed.

"I-Is he alive?" Rick asked in a panicked state.

"Pillowcase, quick!" he said again.

"Is he alive?" Rick asked again.

"Fold it, make a pad," Hershel told him.

"Put pressure on the wound," He instructed. Everyone was doing their jobs in the room. Hershel put on a stethoscope as Rick put pressure on the wound.

"I've got a heart beat. It's faint," he said.

"I've got it. Step back," Patricia said, taking Rick's place in putting pressure on the wound.

"Maggie, I.V.," Hershel said.

"We need some space," Maggie said.

"Your name?" Hershel asked.

"Rick. I-I-I'm Rick," he replied.

"Rick, We're gonna do everything we can, okay?" Hershel reassured him.

"You need to give us some room. Now," Hershel said. Rick walked into the other room as Shane and Otis were coming up to the house.

"I'm sorry!" Otis said from outside.

"Move!" Shane said. Rick walked to the front door to meet them, still covered in Carl's blood.

"He's alive? He's still alive?" asked Otis, looking guilty. Rick didn't answer him. He wiped his face with his blood-covered hand, wiping the blood on himself.

"Hey. It's okay," Shane said, pulling a handkerchief out of his bag. He went to wipe Rick's face off, but he started to pull away.

"You got blood man," Shane said. Rick let him wipe the rest off. Rick led Shane and Otis inside to the bedroom where Carl was. They were still cleaning him up.

"You know his blood type?" Hershel asked.

"It's A positive. The same as mine," Rick said.

"That's very fortunate. Don't wander far, I'm gonna need you," Hershel said.

"How'd this happen?" Billy asked.

"I was tracking a dinosaur. Plenty of meat on it. Thought it could feed us for weeks. Bullet went through it. Clean through," Otis said.

"What was the dinosaur?" Billy asked.

"It—It had a big crest on the back of its head," Otis Replied.

"Parasaurolophus," Billy said

"Well, whatever it was slowed the bullet down, which certainly saved his life," Hershel said.

"It did not go through clean. It broke up into pieces. If I can get the bullet fragments out... I count six," Hershel said. Otis went over to Patricia.

"I never saw him, until he was on the ground," he nearly cried.

"Lori doesn't know?" Rick asked Shane.

"No," he said.

"My wife doesn't know," Rick said with tears in his eyes. He started to cry and Shane embraced him.

Woods

"You still worrying about it?" Andrea asked.

"It was a gunshot," Lori said.

"We all heard it," Glenn said.

"Why one? Why just one gunshot?" She asked worriedly.

"Maybe they took down a walker. Or a dino," Daryl said.

"You know Rick wouldn't risk a gunshot to put down one walker. Or Shane, they'd do it quietly," Lori said.

"Wouldn't be a dinosaur either. Usually takes more than one shot to put any dinosaur down," Jacob said.

"Shouldn't they have caught up with us by now?" Carol asked.

"There's nothing we can do about it anyway," Daryl said.

"So what do we do? That gunshot might have attracted some unwanted attention," Jacob said.

"Same as we've been. Keep lookin' for Sophia and make our way back to the highway," Daryl said.

"I'm sure they'll hook up with us back at the R.V," Andrea said, trying to reassure Lori.

The rest of the group continued walking while Andrea stopped to talk to Carol.

"I'm sorry for what you're going through. I know how you feel," she said.

"I suppose you do. The thought of her, out here by herself... It's the not knowing that's killing me," Carol cried.

"I just keep hoping and praying that she doesn't wind up like Amy," she sobbed. Andrea looked at her with sadness and disgust.

"Oh God. I'm sorry. That's the worst thing I ever said," Carol said, still crying.

"We're all hoping and praying with you, for what it's worth," Andrea said, trying to shake off what Carol had just said.

"I'll tell you what it's worth: Not a damn thing. It's a waste of time, all this hoping and praying. Cause we're gonna get that little girl, and she's gonna be just fine," Daryl said.

"Daryl's right. We'll find her. Let's get a move on," Jacob said. And with that, the group continued on through the woods.

RV

Dale was stripping and cleaning some parts from the car, while T-Dog watched him and Wu was on look out.

"We are gonna have quite the collection of spare parts, I tell ya," Dale said.

"Shouldn't they be back by now?" Wu asked from atop the R.V.

"It's still light. Let's not worry just yet," Dale said to him.

"How you feeling?" Dale asked T-Dog. T just nodded his head and wandered around the cars.

"Please don't blow the question off," Dale said.

"It hurts like hell," T said.

"It's throbbing something awful," T said.

"Let me have a look," Dale said. He lifted up the bandage and accidentally touched it

"Ahh! Don't-Don't touch it," T said, falling back on Daryl's motorcycle.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry," Dale said, covering it back up.

"Listen, your veins are very discolored. You've got a hell of an infection and could die from blood poisoning!" Dale said. T-Dog started to laugh hysterically.

"Heh. Wouldn't that be the way? World gone to hell, dead risen up to eat the living, dinosaurs back from the dead, and Theodore Douglass gets done in by a cut on his arm!" He laughed hysterically again. Dale just looked at him worriedly.

"This isn't good. I've been saying since yesterday we've got to get you some antibiotics," Dale said.

"I'm surprised we haven't found anything after looking through all these cars. No ampicillin or anything similar," Wu said.

"Seems like there would be," T said.

"Well, we haven't been thorough enough. Let's look some more," Dale said.

"I'll stay on watch. I'll Let you know if I see anything," Wu said. Dale and T-Dog nodded and went off to search for meds.

Hershel's farm

Rick and Shane were sitting in the living room of Hershel's house while everyone else tended to Carl.

"Why'd I let him come with us? I should have sent him with Lori," Rick said with guilt on his face.

"You start that, you'd never get that monkey off your back. Besides, he's safer here than with her," Shane said.

"Little girl goes missing, you look for her. Simple. You said call it, head back," Rick said.

"Doesn't matter what I said," Shane said.

"Carl got shot because I wouldn't cut bait. It should be me in there," Rick said.

"You've been there partner. You pulled through, so will he," Shane said, reminding Rick of his own gunshot incident.

"Is that why I got out of that hospital? Found my family just for it all to end here? Like some kind of sick joke?" Rick said, starting to tear up again.

"Stop it. Just stop," Shane said.

"Little girl goes missing...You look for her. Plain and simple," Rick and Shane both fell silent when Billy opened the door.

"Hey Rick? It's your son. He needs blood," he said. When Rick walked in the room, Carl was awake and crying in pain and crying out for Rick. Shane also walked in the room.

"You. Hold him down," Hershel said to Shane. Shane nodded and lightly pressed his forearm on Carl's chest.

"Almost there," Hershel said as he was pulling out a fragment of one of the bullets. Carl was screaming even louder than before.

"Stop! You're killing him!" Rick screamed.

"Rick, Do you want him to live?!" Hershel said while cleaning the wound.

"He needs blood!" Patricia said.

"Do it now!" Shane screamed. Suddenly, Carl got quieter and stopped screaming.

"He just passed out," Hershel said.

"One down, five to go," Hershel said as he took out a piece of the fragment.

Later

Hershel was checking Carl's blood pressure while Rick was giving more of his blood to Carl.

"Pressure's stable," Hershel said.

"Lori doesn't even know what's going on. I've gotta go find her, bring her back," Rick said still a bit in shock.

"You can't do that," Hershel said.

"She's his mother! She needs to know what's happened; her son is lying here shot!" Rick said.

"And he's going to need more blood. He can't go more than 50 feet from this bed," Hershel said, looking at Shane. Rick and Shane went back into the living room where Otis, Maggie and Billy were sitting.

"He's stable for now," Shane said.

"Lori has to be here Shane. She has to know," Rick said.

"Okay, I get that. I'm gonna handle it. But you've gotta handle your end," Shane said.

"My-My end?" Rick asked.

"Your end is being here, for your son. And even if he didn't need your blood to survive, there is no way I'd let you walk out that door. Man I'd break your legs if you tried, you know that right?" Shane asked.

"Man if something happened to him while you weren't here... If he slipped away while you were gone, you'd never forgive yourself for that, and neither would Lori, man,"

"You're right," Rick said feeling a little better.

"When was I ever wrong?" Shane chuckled. Rick and Shane both laughed at bit at this. The door to the bedroom opened and everyone stood up.

"He's out of danger for the moment, but I need to remove those remaining fragments," Hershel said.

"How? You saw how he was," Rick said.

"I know. That was the shawllowest one. I need to go deeper to get the others," Hershel explained.

"Oh man," Shane said.

"There's more," Hershel said.

"Tell me," Rick said.

"His belly's distending, his pressure's dropping, which means there's internal bleeding. A fragment must've nicked one of the blood vessels. I have to open him up, find the bleeder and stitch it. And he can't move while I'm in there and I mean at all. If he acts the same as before, I'll sever an artery and he'll be dead in minutes," Hershel said. Rick nodded with a pale look on his face.

"To even try this, I have to put him under. But if I do, he won't be able to breathe on his own. Same bad results," Hershel said.

"What'll it take?" Rick asked, utterly desperate at this point.

"You need a respirator. What else?" Otis asked Hershel.

"The tube that goes with it, extra surgical supplies, drapes, sutures," Hershel said.

"If you had all that you could save him?" Rick asked.

"If I had all that I could try," Hershel said.

"The nearest hospital went up in flames a month ago," Otis said, not making the situation any better. Then he remembered something.

"The high school," he said.

"That's what I was thinking. They set up a Fema shelter there. They would have everything we need," Hershel said.

"When I went on a supply run, the place looked overrun. You couldn't get near it," Billy said.

"Maybe it's better now," Otis said.

"I said leave the rest to me. Is it too late to take that back?" Shane said jokingly but probably somewhat serious.

"I hate you going alone," Rick said to Shane. Shane just smiled.

"Doc, why don't you do me a list and draw me a map," Shane said.

"You won't need one. I'll take you there," Billy said. Suddenly Otis spoke up.

"No. Billy, ya'oughta stay here and help Hershel. I'll take you there. Ain't but 5 miles," he said.

"Otis, no," Patricia said.

"Honey, we ain't got time for guesswork and I'm responsible. I ain't gonna sit here while this fella takes this on alone," Otis said. Patricia gave him a look of worry.

"I'll be alright," Otis said.

"You sure about this?" Shane asked.

"Do you even know what any of the stuff he's talking about looks like?" Otis asked.

"Come to think of it no," Shane said.

"I've been a volunteer EMT. I do. Now we could just talk about this till next Sunday or we could just do it real quick," Otis said.

"I'll take right quick," Shane said.

"I should thank you," Rick said.

"Wait till that boy of yours is up and around, then we'll talk. I'll gather some things," Otis said walking off to grab his gear. Maggie walked up to Rick.

"Where is she? Your wife?" she asked.

Woods

The group was still looking for Sophia in the woods when they stopped for a minute.

"We'll loose the light before too long. I think we should call it," Daryl said.

"Let's had back," Andrea said.

"And pick it up again tomorrow?" Carol asked.

"Yeah. We'll find her tomorrow," Lori said, reassuring Carol. Daryl whistled and the group turned around and headed back towards the highway.

Hershel's Farm

Otis and Shane were loading equipment into the back of Otis's pick up truck.

"Just get what you need, and get out of there," Rick said.

"You stay strong alright?" Shane said to Rick as they patted each other's backs. Otis gave Patricia a hug while she was crying. Rick walked over to Otis and handed him his Colt Python. Otis hesitated before taking the weapon.

"That's a fine weapon Rick. I'll bring it back in good shape," Otis said. Rick nodded and walked away. Before they left, Billy came up to Shane.

"Hey, you might wanna take this," Billy said, handing him a dart gun, loaded with toxic darts.

"This can take down any dinosaur you come across within a matter of seconds. Just uh don't shoot yourself with it, ok?" Billy said.

"Thanks Billy. Where'd you get this?" Shane asked.

"Found it in a national guard outpost. Looks like they were prepared for more than just the dead," he said. "Oh, and take these too. They'll help you get out of a tight spot if you run into raptors," Billy said, handing him 5 smoke bombs. Shane nodded and loaded the dart gun, and the smoke bombs into the bed of the truck. Shane had his shotgun in the passenger seat with him, while Otis had his rifle in the front, the same one he shot Carl with. Shane gave him a look.

"Only one I got," he said.

"Man this turned into one strange day," Shane said.

"Didn't it though," Otis said. And with that, Otis and Shane drove away. Rick, Hershel and Billy watched as the truck drove away. Patricia went back inside crying.

"Let's check on your boy," Hershel said. Rick, Hershel and Billy went back inside.

Highway

T-Dog was sitting against the R.V. with Wu still on top of it. Dale was coming back from searching the cars.

"Found some more batteries, a bottle of very trendy pink water, an excellent new machete, and I thought Glenn might like this guitar. Maybe he plays," Dale said, sitting down next to T. T was smoking an old looking cigarette.

"No drugs. You?" Dale asked.

"Yeah. ibuprofen. And these," he said referring to the cigarettes. There was silence for a moment.

"What are we doing?" T asked.

"Seems to me like we're pulling supplies together," Wu said.

"No, I mean, what are we doing? People off in the woods, They's lookin' for that poor girl and the three of us are here. Why?" T asked, looking at Dale and Wu. None of them said anything.

"Cause they think we're the weakest. What're you? 70?" T asked Dale.

"64," Dale said. T nodded and took another puff of his cigarette.

"Uh-huh. Wu's the only smart one we got here. All brains, no brawn," he whispered to Dale.

"I heard that," Wu said.

"And I'm the one black guy. Realize how precarious that makes my situation?" T said.

"What the Hell are you talking about?" Dale asked. Wu also looked at T-Dog with a perplexed look on his face. T paused for a second and then said:

"I'm talking about two good old boy cowboy sheriffs and a redneck whose brother cut off his own hand because I dropped a key. Who in that scenario you think is gonna be the first to get lynched?" T-Dog said, in an almost delusional state.

"Maybe he's right," Wu said.

"You can't be serious?! Am I missing something? Those 'cowboys' have done all right by us. And if I'm not mistaken, that 'redneck' went out of his way to save your ass- More than once," Dale said, mostly speaking to T.

"And don't forget about Andrea; kills her own sister," T said.

"She was already dead," Dale said sadly.

"If I'm not mistaken, back at the CDC, it occurred to me that she didn't want to live. At all," Wu said.

"Yeah, she's all there," T said sarcastically.

"She's having a tough time! What is wrong with you two?" Dale said.

"The World is having a tough time. Damn man! Open your eyes! Look where we are! Stuck in this mess here!" T-Dog yelled, quite loudly. Dale shushed him frantically. Wu looked out at the forest to make sure that the loud voice didn't attract any attention. T relaxed for a second and became even more delusional.

"Let's- Let's just go. Let's just... Take the R.V.," T said with sweat running down his forehead.

"Now wait a second," Wu said.

"You've gone off the deep end," Dale said standing up.

"I mean it guys. Why we on the side of this road like live bait? Let's go, You, me and Wu. Let's go before they get back," T said to Dale and Wu. Suddenly, Dale slowly moved to T and felt his head. He had a raging fever.

"My God! You're burning up!" Dale said.

"The ibuprofen," Wu said to Dale.

"Yeah give me that. Come on," T handed Dale the bottle and he dumped a few in his hand.

"Here. Take these. We gotta knock that fever down," Dale said handing him the pills. T took the pills using the pink water that Dale found. Dale looked out at the forest.

"Where the hell are they?"

Forest

The group was walking through the forest on their way back to the highway.

"How much further?" Andrea asked.

"Not much. Maybe a hundred yards. As the crow flys," Daryl said.

"Yeah too bad we're not crows," Andrea said.

"Or pteranodons," Zach added. Jacob chuckled. They kept walking and Andrea ventured from the rest of the group. While she was walking by herself, she stepped in a nest, getting the contents of the egg on her feet and crushing the egg shells.

"Oh! Gross," Andrea said.

"As the crow flys my ass," She said. Unfortunately, Andrea didn't see what appeared to be the mother of the eggs until it was almost on top of her: A dilophosaurus. The rest of the group who was ahead of her heard her scream.

"Andrea!?" Lori called. The rest of the group was running towards her as she was struggling to get the dinosaur off of her. Suddenly, she stepped backwards and tripped on a branch, falling over as the dilophosaur tackled her. She continually kicked it to try to get it off of her, to no avail. Andrea screamed as the dinosaur opened its frills and was about to spit its toxic blinding ooze on her. Suddenly, she saw a woman on a horse riding towards her with a baseball bat. Within a fraction of a second, the woman, who happened to be Maggie, knocked the dilophosaur off of Andrea, wounding it. The very wounded and out of breath dilophosaur limped back into the woods out of sight from the humans. Suddenly, Maggie on the horse called out for Lori, just as the rest of the group was coming to Andrea.

"Lori? Lori Grimes?" she asked.

"I'm Lori," she said.

"Rick sent me, you've gotta come now!" Maggie said.

"What?" Lori asked.

"There's been an accident, Carl's been shot!" Maggie said. The look on everyone's face, especially Lori's was, to say the least, horrified. Lori was at a loss for words.

"He's still alive, but you've gotta come now," Maggie said. Lori was still speechless.

"Rick needs you! Just come!" Maggie said. Lori didn't say anything. She dropped her bag and got on the horse.

"Whoa, whoa, whoa! We don't know this girl! You can't get on that horse!" Daryl said.

"Rick said you had others on the highway? That big traffic snarl?" Maggie asked.

"Uh-huh," Glenn said.

"Backtrack to Fairburn Road. Two miles down is our farm. You'll see the mailbox. Name's Greene. Hiyah!" She said as she commanded the horse. Maggie and Lori were ridding the horse back to the farm as the sun was setting.

Highway

"Shot? What do you mean shot?" Dale asked.

"I don't know Dale. I wasn't there. All I know is this chick rode out of nowhere like Zoro on a horse and took Lori," Glenn said out of breath.

"You let her?" Dale asked Daryl.

"Climb down outta my asshole man. Rick sent her. She knew Lori's name, and Carl's," Daryl said.

"And I heard screams. Was that you?" Dale asked Andrea. Andrea just walked past him and didn't say anything.

"She got attacked by a dilophosaur," Jacob said.

"It was a close call," Glenn said.

"Andrea, are you all right?" Dale asked. Andrea turned and looked at him with an angry look, just shook her head and went inside the R.V.

Hershel's Farm

Rick stepped out on the porch and Hershel joined him.

"This place is beautiful," Rick said,

"Been in my family 160 years," Hershel said proudly.

"I can't believe how serene it is. How untouched. You're lucky," Rick said.

"We weren't completely unscathed. We lost friends, neighbors. The epidemic, took my wife. My stepson," Hershel said.

"I'm sorry," Rick said quietly.

"My daughters were spared, I'm grateful to God for that. These people here, all we've got left is each other. Just hoping we can ride it out in peace, Till there's a cure," Hershel said.

"We were at the C.D.C, It's...It's gone now. There is no cure," Rick said darkly.

"I don't believe it. When AIDS came along, everyone panicked. One boy in town came down with it, and some parents pulled their children from school so they didn't have to sit in the same room," Hershel said.

"This is a whole other thing," Rick said.

"That's what we always say- 'This one's different'," Hershel said.

"Well, this one is," Rick said.

"Mankind's been fighting plagues from the start. We get our behinds kicked for a while, then we bounce back," Hershel said with hope in his eyes.

"It's nature correcting herself. Restoring some balance," he said.

"Wish I could believe that. It's not only the dead. What about the dinosaurs?" Rick said.

"Well, maybe it's God's way of bringing back his finest creations for one last go at it," Hershel said. Rick knew that this was not true, that it was because of what they saw at the C.D.C. about Masrani Global and Lockwood Manor. Rick and Hershel both looked out towards the sun setting on the fields and saw Maggie and Lori on the horse. Rick walked towards the horse after it stopped and Lori got off of thee horse with an exasperated look on her face as Rick came up to her and hugged her as she cried in his arms. Lori and Rick ran into the house and saw Carl on the bed. Lori started to cry as Rick held her close. She kneeled on he bed next to him and kissed his forehead

"My boy. My baby boy. It's ok. Mama's here. Mama's here. You're gonna be okay. We're gonna make you okay," she said grabbing Rick's hand as the two of the knelt next to the bed. A bit later, Rick had given Carl more blood as Patricia was cleaning up Rick's arm. Rick stood up and almost fell over.

"Slow, Slow. How many transfusions?" Lori asked.

"Two. Only two," Rick said.

"He wanted to do the same for you when you were in the hospital. I had to talk him out of it," she said. Rick smiled and nodded. Lori walked Rick to the kitchen where Hershel handed him a glass of orange juice. Hershel Gestured for him to take it slow.

"Okay, so I understand, when Shane gets back with this other man-" Lori said.

"Otis," said Hershel

"Otis. The idiot who shot my son," Lori said in a passive aggressive way.

"Ma'am. It was an accident," Hershel said.

"I'll take that under advisement later. For now, he's the idiot who shot our son," Lori said again, in a passive aggressive way.

"Lori, they're doing everything they can to make it right," Rick said, trying to calm her down.

"Okay, as soon as they get back, you can perform this surgery?" Lori asked.

"I'll certainly do my best," Hershel said.

"Okay. You've done this procedure before?" she asked.

"Well yes, in a sense," Hershel said.

"In a sense?" Lori asked.

"Honey, we don't have the luxury of shopping for a surgeon," Rick said calming her down.

"No, I understand that. But I mean you're a doctor, right?" she asked.

"Yes ma'am. Of course. A vet," Hershel said.

"A veteran? A combat medic?" Lori asked, her hope beginning to rise.

"A veterinarian," Hershel stated. Lori's hope sank.

"And you've done this surgery before on what? Cows? Pigs?" she said, almost in a mockery way. Suddenly Rick started to get dizzy.

"I-I have-I have to sit," Rick said, nearly falling over. Lori helped him before he hit the ground.

"Completely in over your head aren't you?" Lori asked.

"Ma'am; aren't we all?" Hershel said.

High school

Shane and Otis were creeping up the hill side of the high school, the dart gun slung over Shane's shoulder, as he was carrying his shot gun. Otis had his rifle in hand with his back pack on his back with 2 smoke bombs in it. Shane had the other 3.

"Shh, shh, shh," Shane hushed as they were coming up the hill. They hid behind an abandoned ambulance, slowly creeping towards another car they could use as cover.

"Okay, lets take a look," Shane whispered. As they peered over the cop car they were hiding behind, they could see about 40 or 50 walkers and 4 or 5 raptors, as well as a triceratops carcass that a few of the raptors and the walkers were eating. They both got back to cover behind the police car.

"You see that big mobile medical trailer across the way?" Otis asked, out of breath. Shane peeked up again for a second. The second he put his head back down, a raptor looked in his direction, but saw nothing and continued eating the carcass.

"That's where we gotta get to?" Shane asked him.

"Yeah," Otis replied.

Highway

"I won't do it. We can't just leave," Carol said.

"Carol, the group's spilt. We're scattered and weak," Dale said.

"What if she comes back, and we're not here? It could happen," Carol said.

"Yes, it could happen. We don't know for sure if she found her way out somewhere else. She could even be at this farm," Jacob said.

"If Sophia found her way back and to the highway and we were gone, that would be awful," Andrea said.

"Okay. We gotta plan for this. I say tomorrow morning is soon enough to pull up stakes. Give us a chance to rig a big sign, leave her some supplies. I'll hold here tonight, stay with the R.V," Daryl suggested.

"If the R.V. is staying, then I am too," Dale said.

"Thank you. Thank you both," Carol said tearing up. Daryl nodded.

"I'm in," Andrea said.

"Well if you're all staying then I'm-" Dale cut Glenn off.

"No Glenn, you're going. Take Carol's Cherokee," Dale said.

"Me? Why is it always me?!" Glenn asked feeling annoyed.

"We have to find this farm, reconnect with our people, and see what's going on, but most important, you have to get T-Dog there. This is not an option. That cut has gone from bad to worse. He has a very serious blood infection. Get him to that farm, see if they have any antibiotics, because if not, T-Dog will die, no joke," Dale said.

"Hey no worries man. Zach and I are coming too. They gotta have food there," Jacob said to Glenn. Daryl walked over to his motorcycle and pulled out a bag of meds.

"Keep your oily rags off my brother's motorcycle," He said to Dale, throwing the rags at him.

"Why'd you wait till now to say anything? Got my brother's stash. Crystal, X, don't need that. Some kick ass painkillers; Oxycycline. Not the generic stuff neither. It's first class," he said tossing the bottle of pills to Dale.

"Where the hell did he get all this?" Jacob asked.

"Merle got the clap on occasion," Daryl said.

"That would explain it," Jacob said. The girls all had disgusted looks, but Dale chuckled and went to give the pills to T-Dog.

High School

Shane and Otis were trying to be as quiet as they could to make it to the mobile medical building. Shane slowly opened the door to the police car, and climbed in to open the trunk. when it opened, it frightened Otis a little and Shane chuckled when he came to the back. He reached in and found a few flares, and threw them into the parking lot to try to distract the walkers and raptors. The plan worked for the most part, as the walkers and two of the five raptors clamored towards the flares. Shane could see that the raptors were getting irritated by the walkers walking all around them, so, they tackled a few. The other three raptors seeing this, went to aid their fellow raptor pack. As the raptors were disemboweling and snapping at the walkers, some of the walkers tried to bite the raptors, but they were too powerful and quick for the beasts. Since the raptors were busy fighting the walkers, it gave Shane and Otis enough time to hurry over to the building and get inside where the supplies were.

Farm

Hershel was checking Carl's blood pressure once again.

"Pressure's dropping again. We can't wait much longer," he said.

"Take some more. Whatever he needs, then I'm gonna go," Rick said.

"Go? Go where?" Lori asked.

"To find Shane. He said five miles. They should be long back by now. Something's gone wrong," Rick said starting to panic.

"Are you insane? You're not going after them!" Lori said.

"Rick, listen to your wife," Hershel said.

"If they got into trouble-"

"You're in no condition to do anything about it. You've given too much blood, you're barely on your feet, you wouldn't make it across the yard," Hershel cautioned.

"If something happened, I have to go," Rick said almost as if he ignored everything Hershel said.

"No! Your place is here. If Shane said he'll be back, he'll be back. He's like you in that way," Lori said.

"I can't just sit here!" Rick said.

"That's exactly what you do!" Lori snapped. Rick went silent.

"If you need to pray or cry, or tell God he's cruel, you go right ahead, but you're not leaving, Rick! Carl needs you-here. And I can't do this by myself. Not this one. I can't," she said, calming down a little. Rick looked her in the eyes with sadness.

High School

Shane was rummaging through the medical supplies, as was Otis in the mobile building. Shane and Otis grabbed what they needed and stuffed the supplies in their bags as they collected them. Otis grabbed something off the shelf.

"Endotracheal Intubator baby, for my new respirator," Otis said, holding it up to his flashlight.

"Attaboy. Come on," Shane said as Otis put it in the bag. The two then cautiously moved towards the door as Shane prepared to open it. The second he opened it, the walkers and two of the raptors looked directly at him. The three other raptors were still preoccupied in fighting the walkers. Shane didn't even have time to think or pull out the dart gun. Otis took a smoke bomb out and threw it into the crowd of walkers and raptors. The walkers took a minute to see where they were but the raptors were fazed by it for longer, which gave Shane and Otis a minute or two to run from them, but not so much the walkers. They started to run towards the main high school and found themselves running down an alley.

"Come on man! Stay with me!" Shane yelled. Behind them was a trail of walkers, and the three raptors that weren't hit with the smoke bombs, though they were towards the back since the alley was so narrow. Shane and Otis continued running as they were cornered by more walkers and had to run in another direction. Thankfully, the only raptors they came across were the ones behind them. They came to a set of doors that were locked. Shane had no other choice but to shoot them to get in.

"Stay back! Stay back!" he yelled to Otis. He shot the windows and the glass came falling down. Shane and Otis ran inside and closed the gate that was in front of the doors. The raptors were right behind them. Shane closed it just in time before two of the three raptors pounced on the gate, snarling at the two living beings and snapping at the walkers that were also pushing up against the gate. Shane knew they were trapped.

"Damn it!" As the raptors and walkers were pushing against the gate, the pin holding in place, began to come loose...
