Hey everyone! Here's the next interlude chapter! It's going to be relatively long, so bare with me. This will also be last interlude chapter of season 2, however. I am planning to have one between season 2 and 3 though, to bridge the gap between the two concurrent stories. This chapter will deal with what happens after Grant and His group leave the camp. It will also involve some more explanation regarding the dinosaurs and their presence in the east a little more, and I think you're gonna like it ;) Enjoy!

It had been a few days since Grant, Nima, Gerry and Kayla left from the quarry camp. They still had found no evidence of Billy's survival, but that wasn't going to stop Dr. Grant. Not for a second. They did, however, realize that they needed to be much more aware of their surroundings, after nearly being killed by raptors at the quarry camp, and Nima was jumping at shadows. Grant stepped on a branch as it made it a snapping sound. Nima quickly drew her knife.

"Easy there, hotshot. No need for anybody to get stabbed," Kayla said, noticing her panic.

"S—sorry. Just a little on edge after those bastardo raptors nearly took my leg off," Nima said, holstering her knife. Kayla chuckled and shook her head.

"Speaking of legs, let's take a minute. Mine are on fire," She said.

"Now, is that because of the poison ivy you walked through, or the non-stop walking we've been doing?" Grant said with a laugh. Kayla rolled her eyes and gently punched him on the arm.

"Shut up," she said, sarcastically. Grant laughed and shook his head. He took his iconic hat off and wiped the sweat from his brow. Everyone stopped walking for a minute and Kayla sat on a rock. Grant looked over to Gerry who was looking rather solemn.

"Everything alright, Dr. Harding?" He asked. Gerry looked at him and sighed, hanging his head, before speaking.

"How much longer are we gonna keep this up, Alan?" He asked, kicking a pebble. Grant and Nima both gave him puzzled looks.

"What do you mean? Keep what up?" Grant asked.

"I think you know what I mean," he said. "All of you. Finding Billy out here, is, well, a shot in the dark. How many more miles are we just supposed to march through the forest, hoping we find some clue that he's alive?" Gerry looked at everyone.

"I know he's—" Gerry wouldn't let Grant finish.

"How?! How do you know he's still out there? We nearly died, a few days ago, and there's four of us! We have no ammo, hardly any food; How the hell do you think Billy is going to survive out here by himself?" Harding asked, throwing his hands up in the air. Grant looked stunned. It seemed as if Harding had been holding this in a while. He didn't have the words. What Harding was saying did make some sense, but Grant refused to give up on him. Still, no one knew quite what to say until Kayla spoke up.

"Look. I don't know the guy. But frankly, from the stories Grant told me, I'd say he has a shot. This is the same guy who parasailed into a pterodactyl nest to rescue a kid he hardly knew, right?" she said, standing up.

"He really did that?" Nima asked. Grant nodded.

"Pteranodon nest, but yes. They dragged him down river. We thought he was dead, but when the navy showed up to rescue us, there he was, waiting for us on the helicopter," he said, putting his hat back on. Gerry looked embarrassed.

"I—I didn't mean to imply that he wasn't capable of surviving. I just—I'm just looking at this realistically. And realistically, we aren't equipped to mount a rescue if we run into any more dinosaurs, or hell, any more than a few deadheads. We need supplies, Alan. We need a plan—we need, something, to keep ourselves going. Otherwise, we're going to die before we can even track him down," Gerry said, his voice quieting, leaning against a tree.

"I—You're right," Grant simply said. "But where do we even start looking for anything like that?" Grant asked, posing the question to everyone.

"Maybe we could—" Before Nima could finish her sentence, she was interrupted by the sound of a roar; not-so-far from where they were standing in the forest. Kayla and Grant looked at each other.

"T. rex?" Kayla asked.

"I don't think so. Sounds smaller," Grant said, pulling out his machete. Gerry and Nima readied their weapons too.

"Better be smaller. I only got one round left," Kayla said, unholstering her pistol. The dinosaur roared again. It was much closer. The roar started bringing walkers. Not many, but enough that could quickly overwhelm the group. Everyone got close together, standing back to back with their weapons drawn.

"What's the plan here, Alan?" Gerry asked in a panicked state. Before anyone could answer, an Allosaurus came charging out of the woods at the walkers on the incline above them. The group watched in disgust as the Allosaurus ripped apart two walkers, slinging entrails and blood everywhere, before finally swallowing the lower half of a walker. It didn't seem to notice Grant and the others. Yet. The group started to slowly back away from the carnivore as it fed on the rotten flesh of the walkers.

"What is it? And why in the holy hell is it eating the deadheads?!" Kayla whisper-yelled, looking at Grant.

"Allosaurus. And I have no idea. Probably the closest thing it has to food out here," Grant whispered back as they all backed away slowly.

"Yeah. Except for us!" Gerry whisper-yelled.

"Let's not—let's not let him find out what we taste like, huh?" Kayla said.

"What do we do?" Nima asked. The allosaurus was still feeding on walkers. But it wouldn't be for long.

"He's distracted for now. We keep backing up until he's out of view, then we get the hell out of here," Grant explained. Everyone nodded, and continued moving ever so slowly away from the dinosaur. The plan was working, until Gerry tripped over a root and fell with a thud. To everyone's horror, the Allosaurus looked up from its walker-meal, and looked Grant straight in the eye. The roar it gave nearly knocked Grant off his feet. Nima helped Gerry up as the Allosaurus started charging towards them.

"Oh no. Run!" Grant said. Everyone nodded and started booking it through the forest, but the allosaurus was hot on their trail, ducking and dodging low hanging branches. Luckily, the forest corridor was a bit narrow for the larger dinosaur, so the survivors had a bit of a head start. But it wouldn't stay that way for long.

"Alan! Where do we go?!" Gerry yelled over the roaring of the Allosaurus, all the while trying to keep up the pace. Grant panicked. He wasn't even sure where to go. When all seemed lost, out of the corner of his eye, he spotted a gray warehouse looking building covered in vegetation, in a clearing in the forest. Hopefully it was opened.

"There! In that clearing!" Grant said, pointing to the warehouse. Everyone nodded and sprinted as fast as they could to the building. The Allosaurus was a bit farther behind them after getting stuck between two trees. Nima tried to open the door, but it was stuck closed with a padlock.

"Mierda! It won't budge! It needs a key!" She said, looking back to the group. Grant tossed her his machete.

"Try that! Hurry!" Nima nodded and Gerry also grabbed his wrench, the both of them swinging away try to knock the padlock off. All the while, the Allosaurus had nearly gotten free. To make matters worse, its constant roaring, and the banging on the padlock had brought nearly a dozen walkers down on top of them. Grant grabbed a rock and Kayla drew her knife, and the two of them took out walkers while Gerry and Nima continued trying to get the lock off.

"We're—we're almost through!" Gerry said. The allosaurus finally broke free, and with a snap, the tree it was stuck in fell to the ground with a crash. It shook itself off and with a roar, began charging at the group.

"Oh Christ," Gerry said.

"Harding! Nima! It has to be now! Or we're all gonna fuckin' die!" Kayla said, loading her final round into her pistol in a last ditch effort to deter the dinosaur. Suddenly, they heard the final clang of a machete hitting the padlock as it fell to the forest floor.

"Get inside! Now!" Gerry called, frantically gesturing to the now-opened door of the warehouse. Without a second thought, the group ran into the warehouse. Grant dove inside and Gerry shut the door behind him just as the allosaurus was about to grab Dr. Grant in its jaws. Nima turned the large lock on the door, hopefully preventing anything from getting in. After a few seconds, they all breathed a sigh of relief as they heard the allosaurus roar in frustration and walk thunderously away.

"Everyone—Everyone alright?" Grant asked between breaths.

"I think—I think we're in the clear. Thank God this warehouse was here," Gerry said, handing Grant back his machete.

"Yeah, but where exactly is here?" Kayla asked. Nima switched on her flashlight and shined it at the decal plastered on the wall to their right.

Biosyn. Kayla looked at where the light was shining, and her hope, quickly turned to terror.

"Shit,"

Later

The group had found a few lanterns stashed in a supply closet, along with a few cots and blankets. There were a few walkers here and there in the upper floor, but Grant and Nima quickly took care of them while Gerry and Kayla set up a makeshift sleeping area. After piling the walkers into the corner, everyone settled for the night. Nima had already fallen asleep.

"Biosyn? Weren't they InGen's rival?" Grant asked. Kayla sighed and leaned back on her cot.

"Yeah, you could say that. I used to fly for them. Before the fall," she said.

"That would explain the helicopter," Gerry said. Grant had a puzzled look on her face.

"Wait, wait. What do you mean you flew for them? Like cargo? Were you a private pilot?" He asked, settling in to his cot.

"Cargo. Living cargo. They uh had dinosaurs. A lot of them. Big facility in the Dolomite mountains," Kayla explained. Grant sat up.

"You delivered dinosaurs for them?" He asked, in an almost accusatory tone.

"Look, I was on a need-to-know basis. I didn't know much about what they were doing. They were setting up some kind of research preserve. Using dinosaurs to research medicine and shit? Like I said, I don't know much. And I sure as hell didn't know about this place," Kayla said, gesturing to the warehouse. Grant just sighed and shook his head.

"What a mess. You know, you'd think once two parks fail, maybe they'd learn," he said.

"Well, it's best not to dwell on it now. We need our strength for tomorrow if we're going to explore the rest of this place. By the looks of the doors, there's bound to be another floor or two," Gerry said, laying back in his cot. Kayla turned off the lantern and laid back. Grant nodded and pulled his blanket over him.

"Let's hope there's no more dinosaurs in here. Getting eaten while I sleep is not quite how I wanna go,"

The Next Morning

The following morning, light shone in from the small windows on the warehouse roof. Grant was the last one to wake up, as Gerry, Nima and Kayla all got geared up to explore the rest of the warehouse.

"Morning, sleepyhead. Ready to check this place out?" Kayla asked.

"Ready as I'll ever be," Grant said, putting his hat on and slinging his machete around his back. After finishing gearing up, the group first checked out the second floor and were ecstatic to find a commissary almost completely stocked, save for a few shelves. Everyone grabbed as many canned and non-perishable goods as they could fit into their bags. After quite literally cleaning out the commissary, they continued down the hall and found a door marked armory.

"Oh hell yes. Christmas just came early!" Kayla said with a smirk. It took a few tries to bust the door open, but Kayla eventually broke down the door to the armory. Unlike the commissary, however, it wasn't as stocked as they had hoped. But there was plenty of handgun ammo, a few pistols, some stun batons, a single shotgun, and two automatic rifles, along with over a dozen non-lethal weapons. Grant looked at one of the net launchers mounted on the wall.

"Why the hell would they need something like this?" Grant asked. Kayla just shrugged.

"Dunno. But this, will work much better," she said, handing him a pistol. Kayla grabbed one of the ARs, and handed the other one to Nima. Gerry grabbed the shotgun and slung it over his back.

"Those non-lethals look a lot like the ones we used at Jurassic Park. Albeit, a bit fancier," Gerry said, worriedly.

"You don't think—" Grant said, trailing off.

"I hope not. We still haven't checked the basement, so there's only one way to find out if they were actually keeping dinosaurs here," Gerry said, exiting the armory. A few moments later, the group makes their way to the basement door. Before opening it, Nima looked in the door's window. There were half a dozen or so walkers shambling around in the dark dressed in Biosyn labcoats and uniforms. Nima looked to everyone and they all nodded, readying their melee weapons. She kicked open the door as everyone went to work taking out the walkers. After they were all dead, Grant turned on a lantern on one of the desks. He didn't even notice just how massive the basement was.

"Alan?" Gerry called. Before Grant could say anything, Gerry gestured in front of them, to the nearly two dozen indoor, underground enclosures that looked like they had once housed dinosaurs. And to a massive gaping hole on the opposite side of the warehouse basement. There were also several dead walkers and decaying dinosaur carcasses towards the hole in the wall.

"You were right, Gerry. I wish you weren't but you were right," Grant said worriedly.

"This would explain why there's so many out there. I mean, a good lot of them probably did migrate east, but most of them are from this holding facility, or whatever it is. Hell, that allosaurus probably escaped from here!" Gerry said.

"I Imagine after the power stopped working, there was nothing keeping them in,"Grant said, putting his hands on his hips.

"Dios mío. I hope this is the only one," Nima said. Meanwhile, Kayla had been rummaging through the researcher's desks and found something quite disturbing.

"It's not," she said. Everyone looked at her as she gestured for them all to come over. Kayla simply showed them a computer that seemed to be running on emergency power.

The computer then produced another another list. One that was quite alarming.

Everyone had concerned and horrified looks on their faces.

"How—how many dinosaurs did Biosyn make?" Gerry asked.

"A shit ton, by the looks. Though I imagine they snatched up a lot of them from Lockwood manor too. Probably brought 'em to these holding facilities for transport to the Dolomites," Kayla explained.

"What I don't understand, is how they built all this right under people's noses," Grant pondered, shaking his head.

"Think about it. World going to hell? Plenty of cover to do some shady shit, like build an underground dinosaur zoo," Kayla said. Gerry shook his head.

"Maybe towards the end, but no. This had to be started before hand. Besides, from what I've heard, it sounds like Biosyn had the resources to build this, and the money to keep people quiet," he said, looking back at the computer screen.

"And it's not just in the US. The computer says there's international facilities," Grant added.

"Great," Kayla said with a sigh. "So in addition to walking corpses, there's dinosaurs all over the world too," No one knew quite what to say. It was a lot to take in, until Grant spoke up.

"All the more reason to find Billy," he said. Gerry gave him a look.

"Alan…" he trailed off. Grant threw his hands up.

"We're prepared now. We have food, weapons, a clear head. I know it's a lot to ask, given how long we've been looking for him. But now we know just how many dinosaurs are out there. We can prepare ourselves even more! And I'll be damned, if I'm going to let Billy just die out there because we were tired. I don't blame you if you want to stay behind. But I'm leaving at first light, and I'm going to bring Billy back. Whatever it takes," Grant said, about to walk back up the stairs. Everyone looked at him, their hope rising. Gerry looked at him with a surprising sense of renewed faith.

"To hell with first light. Let's go get him back now. Together. You're right, Alan. Wherever he is, we'll find him,"

END

Hey everyone! Hope you enjoyed this interlude chapter! I really enjoyed writing this one as always! I also wanted to make it clear that while Biosyn did make a bunch of dinosaurs, the significance of a majority of them coming from Lockwood Manor is important to the overarching story as a whole, with Biosyn even capturing some of the Masrani Global dinosaurs and bringing them to these facilities. That being said, dinosaurs being made/held by Biosyn is kind of a callback to the original iteration of this story, with a bit more detail. Also, the JW lore leading up to dominion does state that there was a lot of unauthorized dinosaur creation by various people and groups, as well as things like dinosaur fight clubs, black markets, etc. as seen in Dominion. Finally, some of you may be wondering why the dinosaurs don't get sick from eating the walkers. In TWD comics (which I highly recommend if you haven't read them yet), its explained that the virus doesn't seem to effect animals, such is the case when Shiva starts eating walkers and suffered no ill effects. Anyway, sorry for all that logistical stuff! Keep your eyes opened for the next chapter, which will follow the next episode of the show! In the meantime, thanks for reading and stay tuned for more!
