Truths Within Myths Part 3
As of now, Vee was up in the borrowed room of Luz and even making use of the computer to keep her knowledge of Earth up to date. Though something was lingering within the back of her thoughts. The true nature of Sakamoto and Azula due to how she could feel the magical energy that the two had within them. As a basilisk, Vee is able to absorb and feed off of any magical artifacts. She also could sense the presence of Magic in this world, yet it was extremely different from the one from Argenta. That's when she came across articles discussing a Japanese form of spirits and demons known as Yokais. These beings had several types of sub-species within its rosters. The most notable were Oni, Kappa, Kitsune, and finally Kyōkotsu.
An Oni was clearly one of the most powerful among the Yokais, their strength, ruthlessness, and control of spiritual energy dubbed The Satsui no Hado. It was a form of energy which could utterly destroy a person from existence if they could not overpower the Demon itself. Kyokotsu were powerful telekinetic and telepathic spirits. They possessed hair so sharp that it could be able to slice an unfortunate victim into pieces before they realized that they were dead. Their hair was claimed to be tougher than most metals from the legends discussing these Yokais.
"That seems similar to what happened to Azula's hair when she was intimidating Amber…" Vee said aloud as she wondered if Azula was such an entity, though she doubted that she was a full-blooded one. The other forms of Yokais and their legends were quite fascinating to read before Vee came across an odd philosopher and scientist by the name of Van Hohenheim. Hohenhiem seemed to have lived around the years of 1880s and documented a form of science he called, Alchemy. Along with this, it seems that the digital article mentioned how he vanished after discovering the ruins of a city connecting both his theories of Alchemy and a Yokai kingdom. This surprisingly advanced civilization was rendered utterly lifeless within a single night by a strange storm, The City of Xerxes.
Vee was stunned by this information as she wondered how this could happen to such a civilization. Yet, before she could look more into this, she had overheard a knock on the front door as Roshi announced that he'll check on it. As Roshi had opened the door, he was greeted by Kimblee. "Good morning, sir. My name is Solf J Kimblee and I work with White Star's Electrical Repair Division. I would like to discuss an odd electrical surge that has been affecting the town's power grid. Mind if I come in?" Kimblee requested as he gave a professional greeting as he removed his hat.
Roshi though could tell that this man wasn't exactly the truth about what was going on, though his Chi was another story. He could sense from his Chi that he was quite sinister in nature despite his calm and collective demeanor. "Well, I don't think we should discuss this inside since the house is quite a mess at the moment unfortunately. You know how teens can be." Roshi said with a hardy laugh that Kimblee shared with him.
"Fair enough, sir. Though we would need a place to discuss this matter at hand." Kimblee insisted as Roshi gestured for him to come with him.
The two headed over to a small makeshift cabin that Roshi built for Luz when she was younger as a kind of hangout area. Though it wasn't often used for that and more as a means to keep her stuff as antics isolated. Kimblee loomed around the cabin with Interest since he wanted to see if he could separate the Basilisk girl from Luz herself. When he was assigned to this mission by Straxus, he had conducted research on the family to learn about them. Though, the things Regarding Luz's physical capabilities were Astounding and clearly not of Yokai Origins yet something more. Upon taking a seat near one of the tables within the small house, Kimblee began to address what he needed to know. "Now then, I would need to mention that we have located the source of the Electrical Anomaly to be rough around this area yet unable to find the exact location of it. Would you have any idea of where I should look, sir?" The Agent asked with a raised eyebrow.
Roshi rubbed his beard as he thought about this question and how to answer. "I am unsure, Mr Kimblee. Though, I have asked why a person like yourself addresses such a small matter like this?" Roshi questioned as his sunglasses hid his narrowing eyes, "I may not be a businessman like Mr Nebulous though I can tell by your demeanor and choice of attire that a task like this seems quite below your pay grade. So, why are you here?" Roshi questioned with a clear suspicious tone as he took a seat across from Solf.
"I can understand why you would think like that and even question my motives, but Mr Nebulous employs me as he sees fit." Kimblee started off with a smirk by the old hermit's cleverness, "Though, I now wonder what you and Nurse Camilia are trying to hide." He told Roshi was a bit stunned by the man's observational skills. Kimblee was about to press further before he caught something out of the corner of his eye. Upon a tree close by, he took note of an odd shadow shaped like a young woman dressed in a nightgown with a ghostly aura around it. This only caused Kimblee to smirk as he rose from his seat. "Well, I think I have what I need for now. Though, I will be back. So, don't think about heading out of town anytime soon." He announced as he placed his hat back on as he headed out. 'Guess the Older Yokai is that runaway princess we have been searching for quite some time…' Kimblee announced within his thoughts as he let out a smile.
However, as he arrived at the surveillance van, Jacob seemed quite annoyed with Kimblee's inaction. "What the heck? Why didn't you just barge in there and expose that basilisk!?" He questioned in rage before Kimblee gave Mr Hopkins a menacing gesture for him to silence himself and stop causing a scene before he entered the van.
"The reason why I didn't is because this situation has become far more complicated than I had anticipated. One of the Yokais here is one I have been hunting for quite some time and she is one powerful Spirit at that." Kimblee started once the van's door was closed, "Secondly, this Basilisk cannot be taken out of the blue without drawing attention to ourselves." He explained further as he glared at the researcher. Yet, Jacob just seemed more annoyed by these claims.
It was his life's work to confirm the existence of the supernatural, but without any real proof. He has been labeled nothing more than an idiot and even delusional for researching these types of things. This was his first opportunity to actually prove himself and laughed at his doubters. 'If they won't help me with their capture… I'll do this myself…" Hopkins declared with desperation as they drove off.
