Okay, time to go back to the future and check up on the grown up best friends! It's been a bit, but let's try to get back on track! Anyway, enjoy!
EIGHT YEARS LATER...
Shaggy, Scooby and Daphne walked into the movie theater rooms as they looked around for the source of the scratching sound. Daphne frowned as she peered around at the seemingly empty place. "Strange. This was where the sound was coming from, but there doesn't SEEM to be anything here..."
"Does this place feel spooky with the lights off to you?" Shaggy asked randomly as he looked around, with Scooby doing the same as they both shook in fear. "I mean, like, when there's a lot of people in the theater, I have no problem with the dark, but... knowing that it's empty, and like, no movie is playing on the screen... it does feel... h-h-h-h-h-haunted!"
"Rikes!" Scooby yelped as he jumped into Shaggy's arms, quivering in fear.
Daphne gave a small sigh as she rubbed Shaggy's back, trying to soothe the young man whilst rubbing Scooby's head to put the Great Dane at ease. "The lights just aren't on because the light switch is probably pushed down. Besides, coming in here is no different than when we enter the theaters, remember?"
Shaggy took a few calming breaths as Scooby hopped off the man's arms, trying to calm himself as well. As soon as Shaggy's mind started to ease itself, he turned over to his female savior with a nervous smile. "Like, sorry, Daphne, but you know that creepy places... well, they're not exactly Scooby's and my thing."
"If it makes you feel better, I'm sure the projectionist booth probably has a light switch up there somewhere." Daphne smiled as she put her hand on Shaggy's as the two of them gave a slight blush. "Anyway, Scooby, if I give you a couple of Scooby Snacks, do you think you can look around the movie theater for a bit while we find the light switch? Maybe somebody left a clue behind."
"...ree?" Scooby asked as the interest in Scooby Snacks came in as his tongue came out and licked around the lip area.
Daphne giggled as she pulled out three Scooby Snacks from a box she carried around in her dress pocket. "Okay, three."
With that, Daphne tossed the three Scooby Snacks up in the air as Scooby's eyes lit up. The large Great Dane immediately caught them in his mouth with ease, before chewing a couple times, then swallowing the snacks with ease. The brown dog gave a large grin before giving a small shout, "Rooby Roo!"
"Uh, any chance you saved one for me?" Shaggy asked, his eyebrow raised in curiosity.
Daphne couldn't help but giggle as she reached into the box and tossed the Scooby Snack up in the air. Shaggy immediately jumped up and snapped his mouth on the snack before chewing it up and swallowing it. The green shirt wearing man paused before giving a grin. "You have to admit, Daphne, even if they are dog treats, you can't deny that humans can easily eat them as if they were cookies..."
"Only you, Shaggy, could eat dog biscuits with ease and treat it like you ate cookies." Daphne giggled as she motioned over to Shaggy. "Okay, Scooby, you try to look around the aisles for a bit, and we'll get the lights turned on. We'll be right back down soon."
"Rokay." Scooby saluted before putting his nose down to sniff around for any scent. All the while, the two humans went towards the back of the room as Daphne tried to feel the back wall for another door.
"Okay, there should be a... ah ha!" Daphne smiled as she felt a secret compartment handle on the back as she pulled it open, leading up to stairs.
"Oh... you know, I always wondered how the projectionists that ran the movie always get up to the camera room." Shaggy smiled as he followed Daphne up the stairs. "Very convenient."
The red haired woman nodded as she and Shaggy continued upstairs before arriving up at a small room that was filled with a movie projectionist camera aimed directly at the screen, along with a few reels, presumably to insert the movie in. Much to Shaggy's notice, the particular reel next to the camera was...
"Like, far out!" Shaggy grinned as the lanky man approached the reel and picked it up, noting the 'Commander Cool' logo in front of it. "This looks like the reel for the Commander Cool movie! No way that this is a coincidence!"
Daphne paused slightly as she raised an eyebrow, before looking deep in thought. Shaggy didn't notice as he looked at the reel, before looking towards the camera. "Oh, the temptation of putting that movie in the reel is there... but I'm no expert projectionist, so maybe I'll leave it alone..."
As Shaggy put the reel back near the camera, he turned around and noticed Daphne looking to be in mere thought, her eyes looking around in worry. "Are you okay, Daph?"
"I... believe so. Say, uh, Shaggy? Is it me or does this room look... familiar to you?" Daphne asked.
Shaggy blinked twice before looking around the room. "Like, uh, how do you mean?"
"I can't explain it, but... just coming into this room triggered some sort of memory... like, you remember the Clock Monster mystery, right?" Daphne crossed her arms.
Shaggy scoffed. "How could I forget... and I also remember that strange looking machine... but why do you bring that up? That mystery is long done..."
"I know, I know, it's just... I seem to remember "Commander Cool" and "Mellow Mutt" playing with the buttons." Daphne rolled his eyes.
Shaggy yelped nervously as he tugged at his collar. "Uhhhh, what do you-"
EIGHT YEARS AGO...
"Come on, Shaggy, don't try to weasel your way out of it. We were both there that day, you know you couldn't help yourself..."
The two junior superheroes and the Great Dane puppy were walking around the ray and examining every inch of it as young Shaggy, AKA Commander Cool, was looking at it in awe. "Like, if I didn't know any better, I'd say it's a..."
"Rega reath ray!" Scooby whimpered as he covered his face and shoved it to the ground.
"I don't think it's a ray, boys. But it does seem to be some sort of technical machine." Daphne... er, "Gorgeous Gal" said as she looked at it in awe, before going to the side and noting the large neon sign that was next to the ray. She motioned over to the two boys as they walked over and took a closer look. "Displacement Ray? I wonder what that could mean?"
"I don't think I want to know..." "Commander Cool" said as he shut his eyes.
Scooby quickly sniffed around the base before noting something up above the seats. "Rey, I rink rhere's romerhing rup rhere!"
The two young human kids looked up to see something gleaming on the panel as "Commander Cool" gave a smile. "Do you think it's the missing diamond we're looking for?"
"Only one way to find out..." "Gorgeous Gal" said as she turned to her canine companion. "Mellow Mutt, can you try and reach for the thing up there."
"Rokay." Scooby said as he positioned himself to jump.
"Like, wait for me, Mellow Mutt!" Shaggy called out as he stepped on a small stool that was nearby to reach for the chair. Scooby then jumped up and landed on the seat with ease, before reaching over and pulling Shaggy up as the two got comfortable.
The young girl looked at both boy and dog in concern as the two were getting comfortable in the seat. "Uh, be careful not to touch anything up there. The last thing we want is to hit some sort of self destruct button!"
Shaggy shook his head as he turned to the beautiful "Gorgeous Gal". "Like, don't sweat it, Gorgeous. Mellow and I are the very definition of careful!"
"Reah, rareful!" Scooby nodded before holding out his paw and putting it on the control panel. Of course, that paw lead to a giant button in the center, as the ray gun started to turn on.
All three kids's eyes widened in shock as they noticed the large maching humming. Scooby grinned sheepishly. "Ruh-roh..."
"Mellow Mutt, like, what did you do?!" Shaggy yelled in panic.
"Commander Cool, keep calm!" Daphne said in worry as she tried to wave him down. "Just don't push any more buttons up there!"
However, "Commander Cool" was a little too panicked to listen as he tried to look for a button. "Which button turns it off... no, no, not that one, no!"
"Oh no..." Daphne groaned as she slapped her forehead.
EIGHT YEARS LATER...
"Would it help that I was a little too panicked to think?" Shaggy tried to explain.
Daphne looked over to her friend with a incredulous look on her face... before letting out a smile and laughing. "You know, just thinking about that memory... it really made me realize just how much of an adventure I really had."
The lanky man paused as he looked up at Daphne, before giving a warm smile, feeling relieved that Daphne wasn't angry at him, before pausing. "You know, Daph, like, you really DO have a strange way of following with the flow."
Daphne giggled as she leaned closer. "It's all thanks to you, you know."
"Like... y-yeah..." Shaggy chuckled nervously, before pausing. "Say, Daphne, speaking of memories, you ever wonder about that secret room with all the photos that was under the theater? And this projection room..."
Daphne paused as she cocked her head in confusion. "So it's not just me, then, that notices something a little off about the room."
"Like, yeah!" Shaggy snapped his fingers. "Now that I think about it... didn't you and I..."
EIGHT YEARS AGO...
The ray was starting to go all bonkers as young Scooby and young Shaggy was beginning to ride the ray, the large machine momentarily galloping around like a wild horse... even making a whinny sound to complete the effect.
Daphne blinked twice at this odd random moment, before shaking her head as she called out, "Commander Cool, remain calm!"
"Like, how can I stay calm!" Shaggy yelled.
"RELP! I RAN'T ROLD ON!" Scooby screamed as he felt the chair coming loose.
"Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa!" Shaggy screamed as the two of them immediately fell out of the chair, being bucked off into different directions... Scooby tumbling over to an open bookcase as it somehow closed up on him... and Shaggy crashing headfirst into Daphne, causing the young girl to let out a loud yelp as the two were both on the ground, Shaggy having the young girl pinned down.
Upon making eye contact and realizing what had happened, the two started to blush, but before anything was said, the ray then stood still before powering up as it was now aimed directly at the young couple.
"Like, what's happening?" "Commander Cool" yelped as he clung on to "Gorgeous Gal", making the young girl blush.
"I don't know! I... I don't think this was supposed to-" "Gorgeous Gal" started to say, just as the ray fired at the two, engulfing them, with both kids letting out huge screams of pain...
EIGHT YEARS LATER...
"We were both engulfed in this strange light, and then we ended up in a place similar to this one..." Shaggy looked around nervously. "You're right, Daph, the resemblance of this place DOES seem a little uncanny..."
"You don't suppose that..." Daphne gasped as something in her mind began to click... but before she could spit it out, she gasped as she noticed Shaggy being surrounded by a grey glow. "Shaggy! Your body, it's... glowing!"
"Zoinks! So is yours!" Shaggy gasped as he noticed the light shining around Daphne as he instinctively pulled her in.
Daphne gave a gasp as she whispered, "So... this is how it all happened..."
Shaggy gasped. "You don't mean..."
"Hang on, Sha-" Daphne gasped as the two vanished where they stood.
Silence could only fill the booth for a moment before another glowing light appeared, bringing in two screaming victims. Their eyes widened as the glow was gone, both of them starting to breathe in and out as the two young kids in superhero costumes looked at each other.
"Like, is it done?" "Commander Cool", aka the young Shaggy asked as he let go of "Gorgeous Gal".
The young Daphne blinked in confusion as she looked around. "Uh... Commander... where are we?"
The young Shaggy took in his surroundings for a moment as he noticed the large camera AND the large movie screen ahead of him. "If I miss my guess, I think we're in some sort of movie theater."
"A movie theater? You mean, like the Palace theater?" Young Daphne gave a gasp. "But how did we... you don't think that teleporter took us to the movie theater, do you?"
Young Shaggy didn't know what to say, but he and "Gorgeous Gal" knew one thing for sure... they were CERTAINLY not inside the home of Sir Reginald anymore...
EIGHT YEARS AGO...
"What the-" The adult Shaggy gasped as he looked around the familiar place. "Wait a minute, isn't that the room with the strange looking ray?"
The adult Daphne looked over as she noted the ray that had once been active now was powering down. "If I'm not mistaken, yes... and Shaggy? That mysterious ray that shot us to that projectionist booth... I don't think it teleported us to the movie theater... I think we may have gone back in time... and our young selves, the ones that were affected by the ray? I think they're in OUR time!"
Both adults looked at each other in pure awe as Shaggy looked rather doubtful. "Like, wait a minute... are you telling me we're..."
"In the mansion of Sir Reginald... eight years ago..." Daphne frowned as she held her head. "Oh goodness..."
Shaggy groaned as he held his head. "And to think, all I wanted was to watch a movie with my best friend and my best girl friend..."
And that is THIS chapter done! How did you guys like it? Yep, there was a reason why I kept switching back and forth between A Pup Named Scooby Doo and the modernish Scooby Doo Where Are You/New Scooby Doo Mysteries takes on the characters, and it was to link these plots together! And believe me, this is going to be quite the interesting twist of fate! Next time, we'll be sticking to the future AS we see the young Shaggy and young Daphne, not realizing where they are, try to get back on track... only to run into a new threat... the Phantom haunting the movie theater! And how will the adult Scooby react to this turn of events? Oh, this'll be an event you'll have to wait and see on! Anyway, read, review, criticize and suggest, everyone!
