Lawson found himself alive. There was pain in his throat, and something battering is his mind. He saw again a man being torn apart by this… creature… and a woman running away, screaming… he felt the anger.. and then the desperation as the woman fell off the cliff into the sea…

"You are alive Doc" Danny reassured him.

"What… what is he?"….

"You know what he is…"

"And now what will happen to me?"

"Not much. You cannot tell anyone what you know, and every now and then he will call on you when he needs you."

"When he needs blood.."

"Yeah… do not be scared. He has been feeding on a lot of folks and you never could guess."

"I saw what he did to Beverly."

"Yeah, that is a special case. You should talk to her and tell her not to keep pressing him."

"Talk to her?"

"She is using him to get info on what went on in this place between Independence and the Constitution…and she keeps asking… only that reminds him of the life and people he lost….it hurts him, so he hurts her back… but if she left him alone it would be fine… "

"I.. saw what's in his mind… So much emotion there… and fury… and capacity for destruction."

"We are all capable of it if pushed bad enough."

Amos came and sat across Lawson"

Lawson gulped. What would happen now?

Amos took the paperwork and laid in on his lap. Well doctor I have a few questions for you…. For starters what brand of soap do you use?"

"That floored him" Danny laughed. "Of all that he was bracing up for, being subjected to a survey was completely unexpected… but then Amos was taking surveys for Wendy."

"He was still wondering if I was going to kill him.." He shuddered….and in the show they say that I did kill him"

"That was Orczy's doing. He knew that it would hurt you. And if you notice, the actor changed before they show you killing him…the new actor was competent enough… but he was not Lawson, the actor tat was before was…it was uncanny how well he captured him… So the "Lawson" that was killed in the show was not him… For all his powers. Orczy could not make you kill Lawson."

Victor Booth found it easy to force open the lock of the cellar. He was quite handy with the lockpicks. Once inside he started looking around, moving construction materials and assorted trash trying to decide where to start digging. He thought he was being quiet… but there was a vertical shaft going from the cellar to Leonore's bedroom (and she had chosen it for that reason… Louis and Dinah knew of it and had purposefully never told Booth of it)

Leonore heard and raced downstairs. Louis and Dinah saw her and followed her at a short distance.

"What are you doing! Leonore screamed ' "get out of my house!".

"Shut up you witch!" Booth pushed her away.

Leonore fell upon him and beat him with her fists. Booth shoved her violently making her fall against a pipe, and hit her head.

Louis barged in "He killed Leonore!" he shouted, as he shoot Booth.

Dinah came and stared… "Is he dead?"

"He killed your mother!" Louis said.

Beverly had come too. She bent over Leonore. "She is still alive" and before Louis and Dinah could react she called 911 on her cell phone.

Louis and Dinah looked at each other, and back at Beverly…. It was too late, Leonore would live… and there was nothing that they could do…"

"I knew what they had wanted to do. I saw it in their faces. But I had no proof. My word against them…We saw her being taken away to the hospital, and how they removed Booth body… and then Louis smoothed it out with the sheriff to "avoid scandal" Booth would be buried quietly and no search would be made for his previous history. Nothing to connect him to Dinah's past. And I knew that I had to keep silent too.

I did talk to Amos about it and he was shocked… Lawson was there too and he could not help saying that the Benchleys had not yet killed each other out of dumb luck"

Well Amos was determined to keep them alive… they were the only family he had, and he intended to keep it.
