Namor watched as queen Ramonda tried her best to get Shuri under control. Her eyes shimmered in a mixture of royal purple and blue, screaming with no sound coming out. Not audible for anyone to hear but him. She's calling for him. He remembers seeing this a handful of times with his people. This action is of Talokan, and the only way she has this symptom is by ingesting the herb with the help of the bracelet that was his mother's. He was partially the reason Wakanda has their black panther back. But unbeknownst to them, this would be the side effect.
"Pixan gemela (Soul Mate)," he whispers to himself. He has wanted her for himself since the beginning; something about her calls to him. It didn't just solidify why she belonged to him but also filled him with pride. He considers it an honor that his goddess calls for him. She will no longer be in pain once he has taken care of her needs. It is scarce in his culture for his people to end up finding their soul mates. Since it only activates in women, he has seen it one hundred times and held it respectfully. Finding your true soul mate means finding your equal; Shuri will ground him in his ways. Being a man who always gets his way, he had found Shuri refreshing. She wasn't afraid to call him an idiot in his face; she didn't care about his feelings when yelling at him in front of his generals. Even when he got in her face, she never flinched but dared him in matching his glare. In those moments, he couldn't ignore that he had fallen for her and decided she would become his.
He watched Ramonda struggle to hold her down as Okoye and M'baku helped her; nothing worked.
His queen waited long enough. He whistles his siren call back to her, and she immediately stops. Shuri turns her head to his call as tears fall from her eyes. She opens her mouth, calls back to him, and closes his eyes, feeling the sensation throughout his body. Opening his eyes, he sees Okoye in a position blocking his view as more Dora milajes appear. M'baku is ready to fight, making monkey sounds and calling his men. Annoyed by this, he hears Shuri struggle to be released. She calls him frantic for his touch, anything for him to take her. With his wings, he enters the room through the open window.
"YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED IN HERE. GET OUT." Ramonda now stands as Aneka holds Shuri's head close to her chest where it once was between her mothers.
"My queen calls for me," he answers sternly.
"I am not your queen and did not call for you." Ramonda glares at him.
"You are not my queen, and I didn't mean you," he replies, darkly annoyed. Ramonda looks at him confused, til realization hits her, and she turns to look at her daughter. Shuri now whimpered to him. Ramonda looks back at him.
"Impossible Shuri would never call for you, fish boy," M'Baku shouts.
"She's in pain." ignoring the ape in the room. "It's a siren call. You can not hear it, but I can. Only I can hear it. We are soul mates. I am taking her with me."
"I said leave." Ramonda's voice deepens in anger.
"I will leave with my queen in my arms."
"My daughter is Wakandan. She has nothing from you nor your people."
"Who has ingested the herb successfully made by my help through the gift I had given her! Even if you strip her, it is far too late. Once taken, it is permanent. Her body forever changed; It is rare in my culture. My people call it Pixan gemela, meaning soul mate. She will not stop calling me until I solidify what is rightfully ours."
"YOU..." Ramonda shouted.
"Step aside if you love your daughter like you say you do. She will forever be in great pain, and you wouldn't want that. She will die, but I will kill you before that happens." After his threat, the Dora Milaje aimed their spears at him. "My people will bury you while I take my queen. Or you live to see your remaining child happy, with our marriage creating an unbreakable alliance."
"MY DAUGHTER..."
"Will suffer because you would rather be a fool," he says darkly. "I will not repeat myself. Let Shuri go, and you will watch her come to me herself."
Ramonda turns to look at her daughter. The look on her face broke her heart. How can she hand her daughter off to the man that had attacked them, almost killed her, and sent her people running to the Jabari tribe; after all that, he was going to take her last living child. "Her home is Wakanda." She turns back to face Namor.
"Her home is also Talokan. I will give you my word. I will not stop her from coming back to the surface world."
"Let her go." Ramonda's body tingled just at her words. How could it affect her so much that she felt her heart had shattered?
"Queen Mother. We can't possibly agree to this. Our scientist will find a way..." Okoye
"LET HER GO." the order followed as Shuri finally free stood up and made her way toward him. Namor watched her take each step toward him, eyes locked on each other. The shimmer of the two colors blends evenly. His hand cups her face, and she closes her eyes, making a soft guttural sound that everyone in the room hears. A mixture between clicks and whimpers made with each dig she made into his touch. Shuri places her head on his chest, inhaling his scent, and she sighs in relief.
Namor inwardly smiles at her, giving him her approval. His eyes return to the others, lifting his future queen bridal style. Shuri rested her head at the crook of his neck as she whimpered for more of his touch. Namor didn't lighten his face towards Ramonda. He can see the hurt in her eyes, watching her child react to him. "You should be celebrating this reunion. Even without this, I will still make her mine. My people will be her people. She will be queen, a goddess in her own right. An equal in the eyes of Talokan." his wings lift them. "She will be back in two weeks. once she's satisfied." Turning his back, he flies out into the water.
"The tribal will not be happy about this," M'Baku informed.
"I will not sacrifice my daughter," Ramonda replied brokenheartedly.
Namor smiled softly, watching Shuri's reaction to tipit his orca. She admired the orca leaning her back closer to his chest as if she couldn't get closer. "Tipit is now yours as he is mine." He whispers to her left ear. Shuri turns to look at him; her smile fills his heart with pride. He should have done this sooner. Tipit finally reaches their destination; he pats the left side of his fin, thanking him, and takes Shuri back to his cave. Shuri begins to walk around the cave. Worry spread throughout his body; will she not find this place to her liking? Will she strike him for failing her? Shuri looked at the tent tilting her head before entering. Slowly following her, he moved the cloth aside. He watched her look around. He had changed everything about this place; he planned to court her. He made his home bigger, enlarged the bed, and created a particular corner for her to do her work. Shuri turned to look at him in awe, "It's different. I like it." He nodded his head and felt relieved that she approved of this arrangement.
"I feel honored that it is to your liking, princess."
"My body is burning," Shuri admitted wrapping her arms around herself.
"I can take care of that." he stepped closer to her.
"I couldn't control myself back then, but I remembered what you said to my mother." She glared at him, but her eyes betrayed her desire for him.
"If I did not, your mother wouldn't let you go. I was never going to hurt her."
"That is comforting to know," Shuri shivered at how close he was again. "In your culture, what does this make me?" looking up at him, she needed this to be precise. He called her his queen. His people will accept her, an unbreakable alliance. What played continuously in her head was that he would still make her his, even without this.
"That we are equal, my kingdom will be yours as it is mine, my people will love you as they love me, you belong to me as much as I belong to you. We are true soul mates. I will be your king as you will be my queen, and I will love you for all eternity. Shuri, you have chosen me as your husband, and I will cherish it." she bit the bottom of her lips at his words. She felt a fuzzy warmth slowly burning in the pit of her stomach.
"I have chosen you? So this is normal in your culture?"
"This is very rare, and I have only seen this happen a hundred times. My people chose their soul mates. It is the women in our culture that have the final say. However, it is unique in its way. We can not fully find why this happens, but we don't fight it nor question it."
"So it's like an alpha werewolf finding its mate given by the moon goddess." Namor looks at her, confused by this. Shuri shook her head, chuckling to herself. "So, how many times has this happened to you?" Shuri looked down in embarrassment. Namor cups her face lifting her head to meet his gaze.
"You are the only one. I have bedded women, but I have never taken one for myself. I once waited for it to happen to me, but in all my life, there was none until now."
"When was the last time you bedded a woman?" Shuri wanted to know even if this would hurt her; she needed to know.
"Over two hundred years, I have not been with another woman nor courted one. You are the first and the last."
"I will grow old and die." Shuri proclaimed. "Surely, I will never be the last."
"You fail to see how much you mean to me. That is my fault, but I will show you so that you will never doubt me again." Pulling her into a kiss, he couldn't wait any longer. She tasted like the earth, sweet like a cantaloupe with a minty touch. He desired her since he first laid eyes on her after Attuma and Namora brought her to him. Pulling away, he watched in pride, seeing Shuri dazed from his kiss. Pressing his hard-on, he wanted her to know what she did to him.
"K'uk'ulkan." He inwardly moaned at the sound of his name on her lips. "I have chosen you."
"My queen, your king is honored." lifting her with ease, she wrapped her legs around his torso, hearing her gasps at his erection pressed between her legs. Kissing, he slowly grinds, teasing her as she moans. He sits on the bed, hands moved to her waist, holding her down. Both pull away at the lack of oxygen. "Tell me what you want, and I will give it to you."
"Will this last for two weeks?" Shuri questions.
"Your body is changing, and I must fill you. You are in heat. It will worsen, and I must prove I am worthy of such honor. I must prove that I am worthy of your love and fulfill your desire to bear my children, that I am a good provider and protector, and that you will have nothing less."
"I don't know if I want children."
"I will give you whatever you want, my queen."
"We are not married."
"In the eyes of my people, you are once we have united as one. We will have a ceremony in Talokan proclaiming you as its queen after we have established our bond. You will feel me as I feel you."
"My people won't see this as marriage," Shuri informed.
"The Wakandans will accept this if they know what is good for them. We will also do the ceremony of your people, and your elders will shut their mouths." Shuri giggles, enjoying his quick anger. She can tell Namor will be very possessive about her. She can get used to this. Her stomach rumbles, interrupting the moment and making Namor chuckle as Shuri looks away in embarrassment. "I will have food sent to you. Your senses are calm for the moment. Soon my touch will not be enough, and you will not want me gone from your sight. I will prepare and will not be gone long. You will not eat anything else if I do not prepare it. I will take this time to stock up on things." Shuri nodded, getting off of him and sitting in the middle of the bed.
"Can I have both Wakandon and Talokan food?" She looks at him as he lifts his eyebrow. "I can have mother prepare a few things for us. Maybe I can show you a few things, and you can also show me."
"Shuri, whatever you desire, I will give it to you." She nodded sheepishly. "I will call mother while you are gone." He bowed his head and left the tent.
Taking a deep breath, she tapped one of her kimoyo beads. "Griot, call mother."
"Calling Queen Ramonda."
The elders were called and informed after this morning's incident. Shuri is no longer in Wakanda in the hands of Namor. She didn't want to imagine her daughter sleeping with him. She didn't care about her daughter having sex. The princess is an intelligent girl. Even though she puts her head into her creations and makes more improvements in Wakanda, she knows anyone her daughter slept in wasn't an idiot. Of course, Namor isn't an idiot. He ruled Talokan for centuries. After Shuri's first meeting with him, she spoke to her about what she had learned. She gave every reason why Wakanda should avoid war at all costs and successfully kept the young girl alive and safe within her borders. Shuri never showed any signs of fancying someone. She realized that her daughter didn't just speak to her about Talokan's beauty. She now understood the name of Namor; her own daughter's eyes smiled at the sound of his name. Shuri liked him.
The Tribal Council demanded that the princess return to Wakanda, but she refused. Informed them of what Namor had said. She will not risk her daughter's life to keep her away from him. Even if T'Challa was still alive, she knew without a doubt T'Challa would do the same. "ENOUGH." the room grew quiet as all eyes were on her. "I AM A QUEEN OF THE MOST POWERFUL NATION IN THE WORLD. I HAVE LOST MY KINGS, AND YOU INSIST I LOSE MY LAST CHILD." The room is silent. "I WILL NOT SACRIFICE MY DAUGHTER FOR THE PRIDE OF THE ELDERS OF WAKANDA."
"It would have been better if it was one of our people," the merchant elder spoke up. Ramonda wanted to slap the old hag off her seat.
"You are mad your great-grandson does not hold the princess's interest." M'Baku worded, taking a bite of his carrot. Where did that man keep his food? "I saw with my own eyes the princess's interest in Namor. He is solidifying our alliance through marriage. He made it clear that even if we kept Shuri from him, he would attack Wakanda again just for the princess. Besides, Princess Shuri will die. A war and a dead princess Wakanda can not afford." Ramonda looked at M'Baku, feeling grateful for his input.
"King T'Challa would never..."
"Daft woman, he would let her go. Shuri would be with Namor even if he weren't with the ancestors. We all know how much he loved her, a child that scuffed at traditions. Before Princess Shuri realized she had feelings for the fish boy, he wouldn't let his sister die when she could be alive and happy." M'Baku interfered. "Your great-grandson lost to a fish; admit it and move on."
Okoye kept herself from laughing along with the others. Ramonda wanted to laugh before someone else could speak. Griot intervened from her kimoyo beads. "Queen Ramonda."
"What is it, Griot?"
"A call from Princess Shuri." Ramonda felt a flush of relief from head to toe. Ramonda had made a decision.
"Put her through, Griot." Ramonda waited to hear her daughter's voice.
"Mother..."
"Shuri, are you alright? Has he hurt you? Is he treating you well?" Ramonda needed to know and didn't care how she looked in front of the tribal council.
"Mother, I am alright. Nothing has happened yet. I am fine for now."
"You are not in pain anymore?" Ramonda asked, confused about what she had informed.
"No, it's all fuzzy now. Namor says I am in heat, and it will get worse. For now, simple things like holding me seem to eliminate the pain. He won't do anything to me unless I want him to."
"Where is he now? Is he with you?" Ramonda asked.
"No, he left to get provisions. That is why I called. I sent you a list of things. I need a few things. He is doing it now since it will be difficult for him to do it later."
"The Tribal Council is with me. What do you mean? Are you sure you are alright?" Shuri chuckles.
"Mother, I am in good hands. I can deal with him not being around me for now, but he said it would get to a point I would refuse that he leaves my sight. He is just out getting food for me. Please make sure everything on the list is ready. I turned off my location just in case; this place he had prepared for me it's beautiful. I am relieved that it's not just because of this. I like him, mother. Thank you for making the right decision." Ramonda sighed in relief.
"I will get it done. Shuri, if he ever..."
"He won't, but if he does, I will gladly pin my location and call you to come to get me."
"Thank you, mother. I will try to keep you posted; this is all new to me." The call ended.
"There you have; the princess herself made it clear fish boy won."
Ramonda dismissed the tribal council immediately after going through the list. A few pieces of clothing, some of her gadgets, and food were ready for Namor. She waited along with Okoye and Ayo, where she first met him. Namor appeared out of the water with ease. "Queen Ramonda." He greeted her with a nod.
"This is everything Shuri had requested." Two containers are ready for him to take. "If you ever hurt my child, I will kill myself." Namor chuckled.
"Don't be funny. You know very well you can not kill a God. Shuri is in good hands. I promise you there will be no harm, only happiness under my treatment." he smirked. Ramonda wanted to skin him alive. Attuma and Namora were both by his side; they ordered the other four to grab the containers. Sensing the worry, he decided it would make his love happy he offered a small olive branch. "I will not stop Shuri from contacting you. She is free to do as she pleases. Your daughter will be safe and welcomed in Talokan." without a word, he dives into the ocean.
Shuri paced around the cave and struggled to focus on her projects. The fuzzy feeling in her body increased by the minute. She needed Namor; she couldn't go through the pain again. It was intense. It felt like needles repeatedly stabbing her; between her legs felt like fire and her mind collapsing on itself. It had only been an hour since she left for provisions. Shuri had rearranged all the pillows and sheets to her liking. Something about it had seemed off; she couldn't tell if it was because she didn't like the way it looked or if it was a symptom of being in heat.
"Shuri." she turned to see Namor head out of the water. Before he could take another step, she was already in the water, arms around his neck. She was inhaling his scent, snuggling into him.
"Much better." Namor chuckled. He walks up the steps out of the water. Attuma and the others placed the provisions where he had ordered. Shuri can go through them later. Namora stayed by the cave exit, waiting for Attuma; both bowed to him respectfully and dived back into the ocean with the others following behind. Entering the tent, he stopped to see the place had changed. He couldn't help but be proud to see another good sign of her approval.
