Chapter 02: Yang and Pyrrha

She looked down upon her targets, safely hidden in the rafters while they were devouring uncorrupted souls out of plates of all things in their warehouse.

All of them despite their human appearance, were already in the beginning stages of becoming a Grimm.

"Quite a big haul, today." Their boss commented, stabbing a fork into a soul and gobbling it up. "I love it when a heist goes as abundantly as expected."

"Pyrrha... Are these guys the ones we've been looking for or a separate group?" Yang Xiao Long silently asked her Weapon as her lilac eyes narrowed down on them. She was dressed in a brownish yellow longcoat with gold lining, which was unzipped enough to expose her cleavage and a bit of her orange crop top. She also wore fitted black pants and an utility belt, along with knee high brown boots.

"Yes..." Her Weapon replied, currently in the form of a bronze chain attached to two red blades. "Those are 'Ursa Junior' Hei Xiong and his henchmen. They number about fifty."

"That's 50 Grimm souls to harvest." Yang smirked in anticipation. "We bag them all and all that's left is a Yaksha's soul to take. We're already at 49 Grimm souls now."

"Yang, we're going to need a plan of attack." Pyrrha chimed in alarm as Yang started to move sooner than optimal.

"I do have a plan: Attack!" With that said, Yang cheered as she left down from her hiding spot and crashed down right in the middle of the many Grimm now surrounding her. "Listen up now, Junior! The name's Yang and I'm here to reap your souls!"

Silence.

Utter silence is what was met with Yang's appearance and declaration, even as Pyrrha reappeared from her Weapon form.

"Why do you keep doing this, Yang?!" Pyrrha Nikos asked as she glared at her showboating partner. Her outfit consisted of a bronze crop shirt with red hem and red pants that had a similar utility belt to Yang's, along with a red sash tied around her hips. "We had the perfect chance to take out Ursa Junior!"

"We still do!" Yang uncaringly replied.

"No, we don't!" Pyrrha thumbed back to Ursa Junior's seat, which was now empty as the others got out their weapons and transformed further into Grimm. "He left the room a second ago!"

"Huh." Casually dodging the bullet that could've cost her an eye, Yang's smirk grew as she turned to face the poor shmuck that had shot first. "Well, we can always hunt him down. Pyrrha, chain-blade mode!"

"...fine!" Pyrrha glowed brightly before returning to the form of a red-bladed bronze chain, her links writhing protectively as they deflected the shot bullets that Yang couldn't dodge. As that happened, Yang leapt upwards and concentrated her Aura into her cocked fist, making it blaze golden as she smashed it against the ground at her descent and knocked back the surrounding Grimm.

While they were still disoriented, Pyrrha(chain-blade) stabbed through one of their heads before continuing on to pierce through another Grimm's head before finally stopping after lodging herself into the third Grimm's skull.

With a firm yank, Yang pulled back on the chain and promptly freed the Grimm of their heads, causing them to dissipate and leave their souls behind.

"Pyrrha, Chakram mode!" Yang declared as Pyrrha(chain-blade) coiled up and transformed into a large chakram that she swung about to soar around her, cutting down Grimm in an outer circle while Yang herself handily brutalized the Grimm that Pyrrha(Chakram) had missed.

"Yeah~!" Yang cheered after the entire enclosure was filled with the souls of their victims. "That's how the big Yang goes!"

"No, it's not. Ursa Junior's long gone now." Pyrrha chided as she reformed and started to eat the Grimm souls around. "That now brings us to 77 Grimm souls... which means that our target escaped with plenty of his subordinates while you were showboating."

"Well, no matter!" Yang crossed her arms cockily. "I'm sure it'll all work out!"

"We're getting a penalty?!" Yang exclaimed in shock while Pyrrha sighed exasperatedly, having expected this.

"Of course, you are!" Glynda Goodwitch glared at Yang from the other side of the table. "There was no viable reason for Ursa Junior to have left your grasp according to your reports. This is especially serious considering that Ursa Junior is actively searching for a Yaksha to devour! We may have assigned him to because your skill and Miss Nikos's versatility but clearly, you took another chance to indulge in your fighting habits!"

"We're sorry!" Pyrrha bowed forward apologetically.

Glynda sighed as she rubbed her brow. "I know that you're genuine, Miss Nikos, but that means little if Miss Xiao Long herself isn't showing any remorse."

Yang squeaked as Pyrrha suddenly grabbed her head and slammed her forward so that she was bowing too.

"She's sorry, too!" Pyrrha spoke again, ignoring her partner's protests as she tried and failed to stop kissing Glynda's table.

"...just get out." Glynda sighed in exhaustion as she waved them away. "I'll be cutting down your Grimm soul count by 50, so that you know that your kind of failure is unacceptable. It's one thing if you couldn't find him or beat him. It's another thing if he escaped you for basically no other reason than your ignorance."

"50 Grimm souls..." Pyrrha moaned, her ponytail askew as she sat with her face covered, the very picture of depression after Ozpin had Reaped away the souls from her.

Even though Ozpin had made it no secret that he was the current physical embodiment of Death, it had still been somewhat startling for him to casually stab his hand into Pyrrha's chest and pull out fifty of her accumulated Grimm souls without harming her in the slightest.

Pyrrha personally never wanted to experience such a disturbing thing again.

"Now, now, Pyrrha." Yang patted Pyrrha consolingly as she sat next to her. "We're a top tier team. I'm sure it won't take us that long to rack them up again."

Yang's 'assurance' was promptly met with the most sullen glare she'd ever gotten from Pyrrha. It actually made Yang feel a little more guilt from her actions.

"Yang! Pyrrha!"

Pyrrha raised her head and gave a shaky smile at the approaching duo, unable to stay sad at the sheer positivity Ruby Rose always carried with her.

"Ruby!" Yang cheered as she slapped double high-fives with the hooded Weapon. "I heard about Beowulf Benny's subjugation! Just a Yaksha to go and you'll be a Deva Regalia!"

"Ah..." Ruby's happy mood disappeared like a blown out candle, her body wilting as she slumped next to Pyrrha in a similar depressed pose.

"About that..." Jaune Arc, who just arrived and was consoling his despondent partner, smiled miserably as he gave a sad news. "We made a mistake and messed up getting a Yaksha's soul..."

"Meaning...?" Yang asked, her eagerness for gossip mixed with worry for Ruby.

"We failed." Ruby cried as she suddenly hugged Jaune. "Ozpin took away all of my Grimm souls!"

"And now we have to start over!" Jaune sobbed as he hugged her back, tall enough that he could rest his chin on Ruby's head. "Damn it! And we can't even deal with the cause of it because she's too strong and just does whatever she wants in our apartment!"

"Yikes." Yang murmured. "You guys are even worse off compared to us."

Pyrrha nodded in agreement. "And they work harder, too..."

"Where did she even go off to, today?" Ruby asked Jaune after they separated.

"Who knows?" Jaune shrugged as he brought out his notes to start mapping out new targets. "We at least know that she doesn't leave dead innocents in her wake, so we shouldn't need to worry too much."

Yang and Pyrrha frowned at that sentence, sharing the same thought at that moment. 'Just who are they complaining about?'

"Yang Xiao Long and Pyrrha Nikos, please report to the Styx Room immediately. I repeat..."

Yang tilted her head at Glynda's announcement. "What does the Reaper want with us again?"

Beside her, Ruby and Pyrrha shivered from their last experiences with him.

"Welcome, you two." Ozpin greeted from behind his desk as he pointed to the two empty seats before them. "Take a seat."

"Thank you, sir." Pyrrha bowed before she and Yang took their seats, the former trying not to stare too much at their Headmaster's eyes.

Maybe it was because of her previous experience with him, but Pyrrha suddenly felt haunted when she noticed Ozpin's eyes.

They were ethereal, the gleam of celestial jade beyond any mortal reach, life taking light shaming all ending-

"Easy, Miss Nikos." Ozpin adjusted his glasses, making his eyes appear a human shade of greenish gold. "It won't do you sweet dreams if you look too deeply at me."

"I'm really sorry, sir." Pyrrha bowed in apology, willing the shaking of her body to stop and wondering why her body was so cold and why she was so out of breath and she can't breathe-

Yang roughly slapped her back, snapping Pyrrha out of it while looking forward. "I understand, Headmaster. When boys look at me, they can't help staying up late either. I mean, I am one of the hottest babes in Beacon after all."

Ozpin shook his head. "Regardless of... that, I have some news regarding your grades.

Pyrrha promptly snapped to attention. "Our grades?"

"Ursa Junior is on the move again. He's after a particular Yaksha I've been keeping my eye on..." Ozpin took a long sip of his coffee. "Her name is Velvet and not only does she have a powerful bodyguard, she's also the Rabbit of the Zodiac 12-"

"Which means that you might bump our grades back up and let us take on the Rabbit Yaksha, which will let me make Pyrrha a Deva Regalia just like that?!" Yang finished only for Ozpin to calmly shoot her down.

"No." Ozpin laughed a laugh that was both amused and bone-chilling cold. "When have you ever heard of Death returning a soul it took?"

"Tch." Yang crossed her arms in annoyance. "Stingy."

"And proud of it." Ozpin drank his mug empty and stared at it until it magically filled up again. What Yang wouldn't do to have a similar thing for Strawberry Sunrise. "I'll have Glynda send you the coordinates later."

"So this is the castle of the Rabbit Yaksha, huh?" Ursa Junior hummed as he gave it an appraising eye. He hadn't even encountered a barrier like most Yaksha had protecting their homes. The ones who didn't were either to weak to try or too powerful to bother.

Then again, the Rabbit Yaksha was among the Zodiac 12...

"With the power of a Zodiac 12 Yaksha in my hands, I'll definitely bring back the glory of my group." Ursa Junior hummed just before he noticed someone sitting before the gate.

It was a brunette woman in fashionable brown and black clothing, with a large suspicious bag next to her.

"'Ursa Junior' Hei Xiong... What business does the former emperor of the criminal underworld have here?" Coco Adel pulled down her shades to look Ursa Junior in the eye. "Depending on your answer... I may have to kill you before my little bunny gets home."

"Who knew that a fashionista-looking chick like you could be a comedian, too." Ursa Junior bunched up his muscles, growling approvingly when his goons did the same behind him. "I wonder what your soul tastes like."

"Too bad you'll never know."

*whrrrRRTITITITITITITITITITITITITITITITITITITI!*

There were a lot of rumors of how a Multi-Form High Performance Weapon as amazing as Pyrrha Nikos would endure a partnership with someone as reckless as Yang Xiao Long.

Some believed that it was because of her admittedly high fighting skills and Aura control. Some believed that it was because she was the first friend (that was neither manipulative nor sycophantic) she made when enrolling into Beacon. A jealous few believed that Yang must've had 'something' on Pyrrha.

While all of the above options were true to some extent, Pyrrha personally believed that the reason she hadn't cracked from the stress was because Yang's method of stress relief.

Since they only needed to set out in a few hours, Yang wasted little time in dragging a surprised Pyrrha into her bed with her. "Wait, I haven't even taken a shower yet-"

Yang ignored her as she rolled the redhead onto her back, tugged her top off and buried her face in Pyrrha's bra-clad chest. As Yang pulled down the bra and started sucking on her breasts while grabbing onto one with each hand, Pyrrha finally gave some response other than surprise by holding the blonde's head down while moaning as Yang licked and nibbled on her nipples.

It didn't long for both girls to rid each other of their clothes and soon enough, they were both naked while enjoying each other with their heads between the other's legs.

While Pyrrha usually acted largely on instinct and a general idea from scouring the Internet, Yang always seemed to be better with genuine boldness that her partner didn't possess.

When they were done after cumming many times, Yang spooned Pyrrha while burying her face into the latter's nape, as if trying to press as much of her scent onto Pyrrha.

As if Pyrrha would have had anyone else's.

Of all the things Yang and Pyrrha expected as they arrived at the Rabbit Yaksha's lair, they definitely didn't expect to see the souls of many freshly defeated Grimm floating before the entrance.

"Who did all this?" Pyrrha queried as she stepped forward, only for Yang to pull her back just before several bullets would've shredded through her leg.

"It's been quite a busy day..." Coco muttered as she stepped forward out of the shadows, easily hefting a minigun onehanded.

Yang cast a discerning eye at the carnage surrounding them. "I'm guessing that it's thanks to you that Ursa Junior's no longer a problem anymore."

"Depending on your answer, you might be joining him and his subordinates as well." Coco hefted her weapon. "Did you come here for the Rabbit Yaksha's power as well?"

"Maybe. What are you going to do about it?" Yang grinned in a way that bared her teeth. "How about you use that nice toy of yours and chase me away if you don't want me here?"

"...my name is Coco Adel, Guardian of the Rabbit Yaksha." Coco's minigun started to whirl menacingly. "Remember that when you die."

"My name is Yang Xiao Long, Meister of Beacon and the one who will surpass Agni!" Yang cracked her knuckles in anticipation. "And this is Pyrrha. Let's get to it."

Pyrrha nodded, transforming into her Chain-Blade form and falling into Yang's ready hands.

"A Meister of Beacon, you say..." Coco murmured. "You want to use the Rabbit Yaksha's soul to make a Deva Regalia? Another moron to join the others."

Coco fired immediately, raining bullets on Yang's general location and decimating everything they hit.

"Give me that!" Yang roared as Pyrrha(Chain-Blade) was thrown forward and entangled around the minigun, ripping out of Coco's hands. However, this didn't deter her in the slightest as she had leapt upwards and dropped a swiftly blocked axe kick that had the ground cracking beneath Yang's feet.

"Your Weapon protected you just now." Coco showed less effort than Yang as her heel inched dangerously close to the latter's eye. "A normal chain would've broken apart instantly."

With a little twist and her hands pocketed, Coco yanked Pyrrha(Chain-Blade) away and promptly reared her other leg to smash the heel into Yang's cheek, sending her into a wall hard enough to crack it.

"This is your final warning." Coco threatened as she kicked the Chain-Blade at Yang, with it's blade shoving into the wall while cutting through a few strands of hair. "Get out of here, already. It's no fun to kill such a weakling."

"Oh, no." Knowing what usually came next, Pyrrha(Chain-Blade) hissed as her partner's gaze remained fixated on the strands of blonde hair on the ground beside her hand. "Yang, calm down."

"Hell no." Yang growled as her lilac eyes burned red with her pupils becoming slits as her Aura exploded outwards, actually mimicking golden flames that spread out from her. "Pyrrha, Gauntlet mode!"

Pyrrha (Chain-Blade) sighed before transforming into a set of armored gauntlets with clawed fingers.

Sensing the increased threat before her, Coco immediately retrieved her minigun and unloaded as many bullets as she could at Yang, grimacing as the bullets ineffectually melted from the sheer heat Yang was now giving off and wouldn't even reach her.

Soon enough, the minigun emptied it's entire clip, causing to whirl uselessly while it's target casted an unimpressed look at the slag surrounding her. "My turn."

Yang blasted forward, easily surpassing her former speed with the explosion blasted from her feet and slamming her fist into Coco's gut.

"[Blazing Dragon Fist!]"

Golden flames burst through Coco's midsection and erupted out her back, causing immense inner and outer damage as she was sent through a wall and into the castle she'd been guarding.

"Like I said... I am the one who will surpass Agni!" Yang snarled as she stalked towards her downed target, her teeth bared to reveal that they were now sharpened. "Did you think that you had a chance against me? It'll be a cold day in hell when you win against me-"

"Stop it!"

Yang halted, both her and Coco looking at a child who screamed as she ran towards them at a somewhat higher speed than a child could normally run but still too slow to actually impede Yang.

"Don't kill Aunt Coco!" The child planted herself between Coco and Yang, her rabbit ears shaking wildly in panic and fear as she stood protectively before the former.

"You... I told you to hide inside!"

Coco's worried shout went ignored as the child refused to move away from Yang's vicinity. "Aunt Coco is just trying to protect me from humans since my magic is too weak! So stop attacking her!"

"This is the Rabbit Yaksha...?" Yang blinked in shock as her anger completely disappeared, with her eyes returning to lilac while her teeth became human-like again. "You're just a kid! Velvet Scarlatina should be a grown woman!"

"Velvet Scarlatina's dead." Coco coughed as she tried to stand up, despite the child fretting over her. "This is her daughter, Silk. I was Velvet's best friend while she was still alive and I'm still this kid's godmother. If you plan on taking Silk's soul for your Deva Regalia, you better not make a mistake of believing you'll achieve that with me still alive."

"...fine, then." Yang stared down at Coco before shrugging and turning about while Pyrrha returned to her human form. "Let's go, Pyrrha. It's no fun to kill such weaklings."

Coco blinked before smiling at her own words being thrown back while Pyrrha smiled in approval.

"Okay, then." Pyrrha moved to Yang's side. "So what do we tell the Headmaster?"

Yang stopped walking... and gave a long look to the many Grimm souls still floating about. "You wouldn't be able to have a giant net or bag mode, right?"

"You knew?!" Yang and Pyrrha exclaimed in shock at Ozpin.

"Of course, I did." Ozpin answered. "I'm Death. I was well aware of The Rabbit Yaksha's passing right from the moment it happened."

"Then why did you send us after them?" Pyrrha asked.

"When did I ever give you an execution order for the Rabbit Yaksha?" Ozpin shot back. "I sent you after Ursa Junior and his goons, not the Rabbit Yaksha. If Velvet was still alive and well, I wouldn't have done something as reckless as sending the both of you into her territory. That's how far above the Zodiac 12 are compared to regular Yakshas."

"Psh, I could've handled her." Yang crossed her arms, unconvinced.

"Miss Branwen, considering who your mother is, you're the last student in this school who has any right or reason to underestimate a Yaksha." Ozpin warned, causing the girl to grimace. "On other news, thanks for pinching those!"

"No problem, Headmaster." Pyrrha replied as the Reaper gestured at the huge net of captured Grimm souls at the corner. "Yang didn't want me to take them for ourselves."

"Of course, not." Yang scoffed. "There's no point to adding those to our tally if we didn't earn them ourselves. Right, Pyrrha?"

"Yup!" Pyrrha nodded in agreement.

As the two left his office, Ozpin saw them off and frowned slightly as he briefly imagined someone else other than Yang kicking open his office door with wild black hair instead of luscious golden and permanently red slitted eyes.

'Where did you go to, Raven?'
