"Unauthorized off-world activation!" Sergeant Walter Harriman called out startled as the alarm began to sound throughout the Stargate Command facility. He had only moved to the other screen to check on the upgrades when everything seemed to go to hell.
"What's going on?" General Hammond demanded, having appeared by his side followed Colonel O'Neill on the other side.
"Don't know," Harriman said typing quickly and trying to make sense of the signal that was coming through. "We've got some sort of connection happening at the gate but it doesn't look like any wormhole I've ever seen."
Sergeant Harriman saw the concerned glance between O'Neill and Major Samantha Carter.
"Close the iris," Hammond ordered.
Walter slammed his fist on the emergency shut button but the computers did not respond.
"Failure of the gate Iris!"
"What? How?" Daniel Jackson asked coming up the stairs of the right of the command room.
"It's being magnetically energized by the gate itself," Carter said looking at the readings. "The gate is stopping us from closing it."
The "Woosh" that everyone around here liked to call it didn't happen the same way as it always did. It was a weird twisting appearance that almost caused Sergeant Harriman to vomit. When it stabalized, a giant robotic humanoid gray in color with glowing white eyes had stepped out. As the Airman responded by pointing their weapons at him, it seemed like every orificie on the robot produce a weapon aiming back. More people started flowing out.
It didn't look like an invasion. They looked as confused as the Stargate personnel did.
"Hold your fire," the robot said in its synthesized voice.
"Identify yourself!" Hammond ordered through the speakers.
"Colonel James Rhodes, United States Air Force." he said. The face popped open and lifted to show the face of an African American man .The weapons seemed to recess back into what appeared to be a suit.
"Turn the alarm off, please," O'neill said rubbing his ear. "They aren't shooting yet so we're good."
Hammond nodded an affirmation.
Phil Coulson was happy that the sick feeling passed with a few moments of exiting the portal. He did not expect to see humans, let alone a version of his own world on this side. A heavy set man wearing general stars had entered the room flanked by what looked to be a male Colonel and female major.
"Colonel Rhodes," the General said.
"Sir."
Rhoady saluted out of habit which the general seemed to respond with the same habit.
"Where the hell did you come from and who are all these people?"
"Kinda hard to explain," Rhoady started but Natasha had walked up beside War Machine stretching her back.
"We're from an alternate universe trying to find a weapon to stop a super entity.'
"I guess not that hard to explain," Rhodes said with a sigh.
Both the General and the Colonel blinked. Yeah, Coulson wasn't surprised there was a response to that.
"Come again?" The colonel said.
"Alternate timeline?" the woman said. Coulson glanced down at her nametag and saw it said Carter.
"More like Alternate reality outside of your timeline," Coulson said clearing his throat. "I brought a document to explain the science of it all but honestly, I don't fully comprehend it myself."
"We're not here to cause any trouble, General," Storm said coming up the huddle after making sure all her team was okay. "I know this is well outside of what you expected but we're not here to fight."
"I've seen weird but this takes the cake," The Colonel said.
Hammond seemed to only take a minute before he made a decision.
"Alright, let's pretend that I believe you. If you agree to quarantine and some medical evaluations, I'm willing to talk about this threat."
A few looked as if they were going to protest but Coulson cut them off.
"Quite fine by me."
It was about twelve hours later when all the data from Captain Janet Frasier and from everything, they all appeared human though a group of them had strange genetic mutations and two of them were completely alien even though they looked human.
"Honestly, there's nothing to make me think they're actually a threat," Janet said as she pushed a folder towards the General.
"They're who they claim to be?"
"As far as I can see. They're human though a few of them appear to be some sort of mutant. There genes are modified but stable. The other two are aliens and they won't give me more than monosyllable answers. If anything, they're soldiers and cooperating as much as instructed by their leader."
"What about this entity they're blathering about?" O'Neill asked.
"I've gone through every book and archive I can think of," Jackson said. " and I can't find anything about a Sovereign or other realities."
"We did encounter alternate realities with the mirror, Daniel Jackson" Teal'C spoke up for the first time.
"But those realities were just versions of our own. What they are saying and the data they're provided, shows they are far removed from our own." Carter continued the train of thought.
Hammond nodded. "Then let's here them out."
Coulson gently seated himself in the conference room chair facing the Air Force officers. With the looks on their faces, Phil wasn't sure if they believed him or not. Philip folded his hands and set them on the table.
"Mister Coulson," Colonel O'Neill started.
"Agent Coulson. Of the Strategic Homeland Intervention, Enforcement, and Logistics Division. We just call ourselves SHIELD."
"Agent Coulson," O'Neill corrected. "We've looked over the information provided and if we believe you, what do you want from us?"
"Nothing," Coulson said in response. "We were told to find someone called a Sage here that can help lead us to the next clue. We've got nothing more than that."
"Sage? You don't know who it is or what it is?" the only civilian in the room asked. Coulson had heard his name was Daniel.
"We've got nothing," Coulson said with a sigh. "We just know we need this person or thing to find a way to stop this reality destroying entity."
Before another question could be asked, the siren alarm began to scream again when a voice peeled over the speakers.
"Incoming wormhole!"
"Wormhole?" Coulson asked confused.
"The big ring," Daniel said standing. "It's a gate for traveling through the galaxy. It's complicated. Come with us."
No one protested so Coulson followed them. Phil arrived just in time for to see the explosion of energy from the gate stabilize into a shimmering blue-white energy field. It was blocked as an metal shutter snapped shut.
"Anything?" General Hammond asked.
"Nothing yet," the Sergeant at the gate controls said watching the energy fluctuations.
"There," Teal'C said with anger in his voice as he pointed to the screen. "That's a communications signal. Guo'ould."
Philip had no clue what that meant but when the voice came over, he could feel the shift in tension. A strange flanged voice came across the speakers.
"I'm Lord Hemera reaching out to the Tau'Ri. I seek an audience with those who have come."
Hammond thought about it for a second and then nodded.
"This is General Hammond. What makes you think we would consider such a meeting if such people were here?"
There was a pause.
"I am the Sage they seek."
