Audrey and Robbie were over with Laura's mother and stepfather. Her mother came with food for Laura to have a week of dinners prepared already. Laura was on the couch watching tv with Audrey.
Robbie watched the two. Mainly Laura. He has loved her for so many years. He was unaware that she was making an evidence file on him. He was always messaging her, sending her things. He wanted her.
He didn't care who he was hurting at this point.
But for right now, he had to play the caring husband who was helping care for his wife's best friend who is also his own best friend's wife, who is in jail.
The light from the screen hit the two women. "Laura. We are going to get going. You going to be ok?" Laura's mom asked walking over to her on the couch. She looked up at her mother. "Yeah. I'll be fine. Aubrey's here." Laura said. "Don't worry Marla, I'll make sure she eats." Aubrey promised with a caring smile.
Marla nodded and kisses her daughter's head before heading to the door. But then the phone rang. Audrey was closer and so she grabbed it. "It's Shadow." Aubrey told Laura happily as she handed the phone to her. Laura took it.
She agreed to the machine that answered her first, then she finally heard her husband's voice. "Hey Puppy." She greeted. She listened to him on the phone he was so happy. He was getting released sooner than expected. His good behavior has paid off.
"I'll be out in two months baby. Then I will have you in my arms." He told her. She perked up and looked at Aubrey. "He got his parole. He gets out in two months." She told her best friend. Her mother, who had stopped when she heard that Shadow was calling, came over and hugged her happy daughter.
"But doesn't parole happen right away?" Aubrey asked confused. Laura repeated the question to Shadow. She listened to his words then she spoke. "He said that the judge wants him to at least finish this last year. You know the anniversary of when he was put in." She explained.
Audrey nodded at her words. "Well. I can't wait to see you... Ok Puppy. I love you." She said, seeing this, Robbie looked down at his feet for a moment.
Laura was going to be going to get some things from the store with Audrey. Shadow was going to be getting out in just a few days. They were going to have a party for when he gets home. And they needed some last minute things. She was currently on the phone with him.
She was waiting for Audrey to arrive.
"Yes. So, you better act surprised when you get here." She told him. She looked up seeing a car park.
"Hey. Aubrey is here. I need to go." She told him. "I love you Puppy. Just a few days." She told him with a soft smile. She listened to him tell her he loved her before they both hung up. She grabbed her bag, and headed out of the house.
She walked over and froze seeing Robbie was the only one there. She walked over seeing the passenger window go down. "Hey. Audrey fell and twisted her ankle. She is sitting with it iced. I told her I would take you." He told her.
"I think I forgot something inside. Can you give me a moment?" She asked. He nodded with a smile. She went back inside, and then went to where her files were. She wrote things down about when Robbie arrived and what he told her.
She can use her phone if he tries anything in the car.
After putting it away in the safe that Shadow and Laura shared, she walked out texting Audrey that she was hoping she was ok.
She got in and made sure she was as close to the door as possible. She didn't really want to be alone with Robbie after what happened last time. But as long as they get this done quickly, she will be fine.
She just didn't know that getting in the car with him, would be the last thing she would do alive.
