Shadow was upset. He was with his in-laws. Laura's mother was trying to stop crying. She was about to bury her only child. Shadow and Laura's step dad comforted her. Though Shadow wanted to break down as well.

He loved Laura. Still do. He will never stop loving her. He stood outside of the chapel after Laura's parents went inside. He just needed a moment to collect his thoughts. He just wanted this to be a dream.

This has to be a prank right? Laura will be laughing about it inside, right? But that was just his mind and soul refusing to accept that she was really gone forever. That all that was left was her body.

He saw Audrey look at him for a moment before going inside. The priest came out and led him inside. He looked around him for a moment, before his eyes landed at the casket at the end of the isle.

His feet made their way up to it. Inside was Laura. Even in death, she looked beautiful.

He didn't hear Audrey as she came up to him. "They did good on her. But I wonder if they took my husbands dick out of her mouth, or glued her mouth shut with it inside still." She said in a snarky way.

She was still hurting from finding out about infidelity. But Shadow knew the truth. Laura told him that she kept things about Robbie, and where they were so that if something happened, she could take it to the police.

Shadow gave her a look. He didn't like Aubrey talking shit about Laura at her own funeral. She didn't deserve it.

He shook his head and walked up fully to the casket and touched her soft skin. She was cold. She wasn't warm anymore. Her skin used to be so warm and soft. Now it's hard and cold.

He went and sat with his in-laws for the service.

After the burial service, Shadow told everyone that he needed to leave. He had a lot he had to get started. He wanted to leave this town. It would only remind him of Laura and the life they had together.

His in-laws called for an uber for him to use. As he went out, he saw Audrey following him, and calling his name. He didn't want to hear her bad mouth Laura anymore. He shook his head and stopped at the car.

"Look Audrey. I need to get things done. I am not in the mood to talk right now. I'm sorry for your loss. I really am. But I don't want to talk right now." He told her.

Audrey scoffed tearfully.

"Sorry for my loss? Oh please. My husband, your best friend, was fucking my best friend, your wife, behind our backs. And you are crying over her like a puppy who lost his owner forever." She sneered.

He shook his head again. She didn't know nor did she understand. And he told her so.

"You don't understand everything Audrey. I will tell you everything. I promise. But right now, I need to focus on today and so... I will call you probably tomorrow. I promise. But right now. I have a house to pack and sell." He told her. He hugged her before getting in.

Giving the driver the okay, Shadow gave Audrey a sad smile.

He will have to tell her what really happened.
