Save me from my Demons

Review: Kara was saved from her abusive father after the death of her mother by Levi and Erwin. She wounds her way into the Captain's Heart as a daughter and he raises her. Kara joins the Cadet Corps and soon is the top of her class. She finds friends and starts getting close with a certain Horse Face. Jean/OC

Chapter 1

Rescue

Kara ran through the streets in the Interior. Her clothes were covered in blood and her face was swelled from being punched in the face. Tears streamed down her checks as she ran.

"KARA!" Her father's voice boomed. Kara whimpered and pushed through people. She was small for a nine year old. Her father had tried to kill her and her mother jumped in the way and took the knife. The only person to protect her was now dead. The blood on her shirt wasn't hers.

'Keep going.' Kara thought as she gritted her teeth as her ribs scream at her.

"Kid. You alright?" A man asked and Kara pushed herself into a run. "Hey! Stop!" Kara ran fast. She felt her energy draining as she ran. She tripped and fell hitting the pavement. She pressed her check to the cold stone.

'Just let me die. My dreams to join the Scouts is gone.' Kara thought.

"Kara!" Her fathers voice came and she felt a rush of energy and gets up and clutches her ribs as she tried running. She turned a corner and ran into someone. She groaned in pain as she landed on the ground and jolted her ribs.

"Watch where your going, brat?" A stern almost bored voice said. Kara pushed her blonde hair out of her face and her grey eyes looks up at a short black haired man and a very tall blonde man standing in front of her. Kara's eyes widen as she saw they were Scouts.

Levi's eyes widen at the young girls appearance. Blood coated her shirt and hands and her face was swelled. She had a bruise forming under her eye. She looked up at him and Erwin in complete shock and horror written on her face. She flinched when a man yelled. She struggled to her feet. Levi grabbed her arm and yanked her up. She flinched and Levi saw red. She went to run, but Levi had a hold of her.

"Let me go." Kara said, trying to pull her hand free. Fear filled her eyes.

"Levi. Take the girl to the infirmary." Erwin said. Kara shook her head.

"Tch. Come on brat. Your going to see a doctor." Levi said. Levi goes to pull her but she gets out of his grip, shaking her head. A mand rounds the corner.

"Kara!" The man shouted and the brat takes off, nearly knocking some MPs over.

"That must be her father." Erwin said.

"Isn't the asshole a former MP or is a MP." Levi said.

"Levi." Erwin said.

"Did you see the bruises on her Commander and the fear in her eyes when she heard him. She was abused and I don't think that's her blood on her." Levi growled. Erwin watched the father look for the girl. There was no mistaking the look of anger on his face.

"Levi. Find her before he does." Erwin said. Levi didn't have to be told twice as he turned the way the girl went and went running. He didn't see her.

"You looking for the girl?" A woman called. Levi nodded and the woman pointed towards an alley. "She went that way." Levi ran towards the Alleyway. It was a dead end.

"Damnit. Where is she." Levi grumbled. Whimpering came behind a pile of boxes. Levi walked towards the pile and found the girl huddled in the shadows. Her legs were drawn to her chest. "Hey." She jumped at his sternness and shrinked into the shadows. Levi closed his eyes and sighed. "I'm not going to hurt you, brat. Is that your blood on you?" The girl saw the blood coating her shirt and hands. She shook her head. "What's your name?"

"Kara." Kara whispered.

"I'm Levi. Want to come out and we'll have you looked at?" Levi asked, holding out his hand.

"Where the hell is she?" A voice said. Kara shrinked further in. Levi had boxes that blocked him from being spotted. "Already bad enough her mother jumped in front of me to shield her and now she's dead." Levi growled. He wanted to beat the piece of shit up. Kara put her hands to her mouth and stiffened a sob. He heard footsteps move away. Levi put two and two together that the poor girl wasn't just abused but had witnessed her mother die in front of her.

"I'm not gonna hurt you. I'm gonna take you to someone that can look at you and get you cleaned. Your a mess." Levi said as he held out his hand. It was a softness he would never show to his comrades. Kara looked at him. There was no anger in his eyes or hatred like her father had. There was softness. She took his hand and he helped her up. Black spots formed in her vision and the world spun.

Levi caught the girl before she hit the cement. He quickly took off his cape and wrapped it around her and put the hood up. She was small and very skinny. He was gonna get food in her. He walked out and saw the man was no where to be seen and headed down the street. He saw Erwin talking to Nile. Erwin saw Levi approaching with the girl in his arms.

"You found her?" Erwin said.

"Her father is looking for her." Nile said.

"The bastard is not getting her. Might want to have your pigs check his house. You might find his wife killed trying to protect her daughter from that scum bag." Levi growled. Erwin and Nile's eyes widen. Nile turned to some MPs and they disappeared. "I'm taking her to a doctor." Levi moved away and headed for the hospital in Sina.

Levi stood with his arms crossed as he waited for word on Kara. Erwin came in.

"Any news?" Erwin asked.

"No." Levi said.

"They found her mother dead. Looks like from a knife attack." Erwin said.

"It was meant for Kara." Levi said. Erwin's eyes widen. Levi looked at him with no emotion. "I heard her father and shielded her. She's not going back to him."

"He is no where to be found. Mps are still looking." Erwin said. Levi had a feeling that her father had disappeared into the Underworld. There was no finding him. No one is found down there less they want to be or you know the right people.

"She's not going to an orphanage. She'll end up on the streets and right back in her father's hands." Levi said as Erwin goes to check. Erwin looked at Levi as he stood with his arms crossed. "That girl has been through hell. I can see it in her eyes. Almost the same look kids have in the Underworld."

"So are you asking for her to be put under your care?" Erwin asked, raising an eyebrow.

"Tch. Don't be stupid." Levi said.

"I think I will put her in the protection of the Scouts and you can train her to be a soldier till she's old enough to join the Cadets." Erwin said. Levi's eyes widen. Erwin smirks as a doctor heads their way.

"I'm not babysitting the brat." Levi growled. The doctor comes up to them.

"Commander. Captain." The Doctor said.

"How is she?" Erwin said. The doctor rubbed his head.

"The girl has took a beating. She has a few broken ribs and a bruise on her stomach from being kicked and her face is swelled. The blood on her isn't hers." The doctor said. Erwin sighed. "Sir. She's been beaten not just today. There's bruises still healing and she's underweight for her age. She's been starved." Levi gritted his teeth.

"I will defiantly kill that bastard if I get my hands on him." Levi growled.

"Can we see her. We got some questions." Erwin said.

"You want the brat to go through the same torment?" Levi asked.

"To get Nile off our backs. I promised him a report. You want her father's former comrades questioning her?" Erwin asked.

"No." Levi said. Doctor led them to the girls room. They reach the bed and find her gone.

"She was just here." Doctor said.

"She couldn't have gone far. Let's look around." Erwin said. Erwin and the Doctor left. Levi scanned the room. He goes to leave when he hears scuffling feet. Levi turned and saw a blanket move. Levi walked over and knelt down. Kara was under the bed. She looked up.

"Why are you hiding, brat?" Levi said. He saw kind of relief in her eyes seeing him.

"I thought.. I thought you were one of my father's friends." Kara said.

"Come on out." Levi said. Kara crawled out. She was cleaned and in some new clothes. Kara stood and put a hand to her arm and looked down. Levi sighed. "You hungry?"

"No." Kara whispered, but her stomach rumbled. Levi shook his head and put a hand on her shoulder. She flinched and moved out of the way. "Let's get you food, brat." Levi led her out. Erwin saw the two and knew Levi would get the information.

Levi and Kara sat in the mess hall of the hospital and Kara nearly engulfed the food that Levi got for her. The girl was was warming up to him slowly.

"Hey brat. I need to know what happened at your home before we found you." Levi said. The spoon she was holding dropped. Her hand was trembling.

"Was mother found?" Kara whispered.

"Yes. I'm sorry." Levi said. Kara closed her eyes and felt tears slip down her checks. "Your father escaped to the Underworld. There is no finding him." Kara stood up and Levi stood and stopped her.

"Let me go. He'll find me." Kara said.

"This not to my liking but the Scouts are taking custody of you and I'm suppose to teach you stuff as a Scout, till your old enough to join the Cadets." Levi said. Kara's eyes widen and a smile crept to her face. "What, brat?"

"That's what I wanted to do since I was little." Kara said.

"And what is that?" Levi asked.

"Join the Cadets and become a Scout." Kara said. Levi had her sit and finish eating.

"Can you at least tell me what happened, brat?" Levi said. Kara looked away.

Few hours ago. (Warning: Abuse.)

"Your a worthless piece of shit that shouldn't have been born." Her father kicked her. Kara had burnt the food by accident.

"Enough. She's just a child!" Kara's mother, Lily said, pulling him off her and he spun and backhanded her.

"Mama." Kara said. She jumped on her fathers back to pull him off her mother from beating her.

"Damnit." Her father said and his fist collided with her face. She hit the ground in pain. A knife being pulled came and Kara gasped as her father came at her with a knife.

"No." Lily jumped in front of her and took the knife to the chest.

"Mama!" Kara yelled in tears as blood spattered on her.

"Damnit, Lily." Her father shouted.

"Kara... Run!" Lily spit out blood. Kara got up and ran towards the door and pulled it open. She ran out into the street with no place in mind.

Present time. Levi had moved from his seat to sit next to Kara. The girl was sobbing. Levi put a hand on her shoulder.

"Stop crying. Your safe now." Levi said. Kara looked at him. "I'm not happy about taking a brat like you, but I don't want to see another child on the streets. You seem to have some fight in you. You'll learn how to fight, but don't expect me to take it easy on you." Kara nodded.

"Yes, sir. Thank you." Kara said.

"It's Levi. Come on. Let's go." Levi said. Levi helped her stand and they walk out.

AN: Gonna try and keep to the Levi in show, but we'll see a change in him around Kara. Hope you enjoyed. Till next time.
